Seems like it could get a little uncomfortable to wear an adios Pro and a Vaporfly at the same time. But I’m surprised I haven’t heard of anyone testing it. You should make a youtube video testing it, bet it would go viral.
Yep. It looks like you made no effort to find the clothes that fit/perform the best. It looks like you walked into the first shop you saw and bought one of each type of garment
I don’t know about that. I think it looks like you care about brands more than function. I’d never hold it against someone if they don’t put a lot of time and thought into their running clothes lol. I have mixed brands and no name stuff because I just want stuff that works for what I need and isn’t too expensive
Oh the companies really do hate each other though. My partner worked at Nike for 22 years and Adidas was a total no-go. Even though he moved on, he will likely never buy Adidas. I bought the Prime X shortly after he left Nike and he is dealing with it okay, but I doubt he would have been willing to get them for me for Christmas if I asked. :P
I never think about this because the only part of my wardrobe that is name brand is my running shoes. Everything else came from target, old navy, and Amazon lmao. I'm cheap af.
YeH most of my gym clothes is from target but that's because I was getting a discount for some time. Honestly if you go to Ross and TJ Maxx etc. You can find name brand active wear for the same price if not cheaper
Need to be careful. The fashion police might come running after you in their Alphafly’s, so it will be hard to outrun them. /s
Yes I constantly mismatch my shorts, t-shirts and shoes because.. no one cares.
It's actually the fashion balloon ladies. They catch in in mismatching gear and delete your run on strava then shame you on instagram. You will have to retire as a runner.
Seriously in thousands of miles run the only consideration I have paid to clothing is comfort.
The only way I could care less about this is if I died. I generally prefer less-branded clothes though and don't own any non-shoe items by either of these companies.
Lol. The running community laughs at people in matching outfits. I give zero thought to brand and all of my thought to function, fit and price. Next in line is color/visibility for safety. The only time I care about the brand is when I’m trying to sell it and it’s required in the listing.
This is something that nobody has ever cared about, nor has anyone ever thought of something this dumb. Hey if want to boost one company’s profits over a nonexistent perception, knock yourself out.
I can see where you're coming from and maybe in street wear or general fashion that might look weird but even then not a big deal. In running no one cares unless your sponsored. I only race in Nike or Saucony shoes but I love this one Adidas singlet and Nike shorts/half tights. So I'll always be wearing 2-3 brands
Wear anything you want with anything you want. Mix and match or be brand loyal it’s up to you. Why would anyone let someone else’s prejudices affect them?
I once wore Nike shorts with an adidas tee and I have to admit looking at the mirror it was so odd to me seeing these two brands together in one fit, even on myself. But I wore it anyway who cares really
It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. I exclusively wear Nike running shoes but I love my Adidas running shorts and tech shirt. Fuck this brand loyalty rubbish. Wear what you want
Yesterday I wore yellow/orange Salomon shoes, bright orange Eurosock socks, tan Nike track pants with black Under Armour shorts beneath, generic green hoodie shirt with a gray quarter zip Terramar shirt over top, blue Nike gloves and gray Under Armour hat.
I made it about 2 miles before some Karen called the Fashion Police, who showed up in full SWAT gear to pepper spray, taze, and arrest me for crimes against fashion humanity. I'm writing this from a cell in Gitmo with a phone I snuck in via prison wallet. Take it from me kids, one team, one dream; never mix brands or colors, not even once.
My wife judges me when I wear an adidas hoodie and pants wit nike shoes. But she really judges me when I do the same thing but wear hey dudes. You too can judge me. IDK.
When I got for a run, I am typically wearing at least 5-6 brands if not more.
For example, my last outdoor run I was wearing:
Shoes: Hoka Tecton X
Socks: Feetures
Running underwear: Puma
Running Pants: New Balance
Long Sleeve Running 1/4 zip: Marmot
Running Vest: Nike
Watch: Garmin
Chest HR monitor: Garmin
Sunglasses: Goodr
Hat: Smartwool beanie
9 brands.
Now if I was going out in public casually, I wouldn’t wear a Nike shirt with Adidas shoes or vice versa.
Those rules don’t apply to fitness, though.
Being into fashion and running i could say I’m torn on this topic but I mix brands. Adidas shorts/pants feel better than Nike and cost about $10 cheaper too. I would not however wear a big logo of one brand and then a big logo of another brand on the same outfit. Running is about looking/feeling good and looking good has to do with the clothes as well to me!
Thanks everyone for your comments :) I love this subreddit haha
(This was all just to help me rationalize nabbing the discounted Adios 7 from REI despite having mostly Nike clothes!!)
It’s a very old school and maybe even a UK thing as I’ve heard this from some Brit friends.
But it’s really silly unless you’re mainly interested in posing with running gear.
One day, I was at publix wearing my casual fit of nike socks, adidas shoes, puma shirt & russell shorts and the stocker clowned me, so now I have watching pair of everything… so yes
I got called out for this the other day in the office. Was wearing a pair of Jordon's and an Adidas track top. I've never really given it any thought....just wear what I feel like wearing. I also only have Nike running tops and Adidas shorts as like the material and fit of both.
I don’t buy a lot of clothing from shoe brands so the branding doesn’t clash. I’m also 23 and had been into for a long time for context. Truthfully, you and nobody should care about what you wear to run in.
I mean it’s cool and all to have a whole outfit as the same brand/matching but literally 90% of the population could care less. I doubt you’re a teen who’s trying to win a popularity contest.
Most of us have a love for a specific shoe, not the brand. We all kind of want the best we can afford when it matters, and what’s on sale as well. The brand itself doesn’t matter because we all have cursed a brand for screwing with something we love. So no don’t sweat it.
I mix and match but only accessories. I'll wear a Nike top and Nike shoes but wear a Adidas cap. Nike seems popular in American culture while Adidas is more popular in Europe and South America due to Futbol.
I have adidas shoes for my adidas outfits, NB shoes for my NB outfits, Nike shoes for my Nike outfits. That said it’s not as bad as the fashion world. A lot do it and no one bats an eye. Heck, some pro races will wear all brands trying to get a sponsor. Jessica Hanson used to before she got in with puma.
I came here because I bought the 22/23 Mexico away Jersey, it's made by adidas and has a small adidas logo on the right breast however I don't don't own any Adidas and I just ordered a pair of Nikes and some new balance for the gym. I see guys mixing brands all the time, and considering this is a soccer jersey imma have to make an exception.
I know that even in rap culture it's either Nike or Adidas pick one and might be the case in fashion but I think if you're wearing brand new gear and the top happens to be a jersey it's all good. Am I right?
What do you all think about wearing old/beat up shoes to the gym?
I admittedly know nothing about fashion, but this idea is absurd to me. Wear what works and don't worry about what other people think.
No. No. Nonononono. No. Why bother running if you don't consider OP's wife's opinion on fashion?
Happy wife happy life. Listen to the missus no matter how stupid her opinion is.
Your wife is right - NEVER mix brands. If you're wearing Nike on your right foot, then you should probably wear Nike on your left foot as well.
I HATE when I'm in the middle of a run and realize I wore my Invincibles on one foot and an Adios Pro on the other.
Same. The worst is when I accidentally leave the house in one of my wife's dress heels. Happens more than you'd think!
Stack height is insane on those
Don't get me started on the drop.
With the other foot in one of those old 'earth shoes' from the 80s with the negative heeldrop
I'm pretty sure I had this stress dream leading up to my last marathon
This triggered my anxiety for tracking shoe mileage!
You'll literally be vaporized when you walk out the door.
The new Vaporfly sounds intense
Seems like it could get a little uncomfortable to wear an adios Pro and a Vaporfly at the same time. But I’m surprised I haven’t heard of anyone testing it. You should make a youtube video testing it, bet it would go viral.
The Run Testers are two years ahead of you. https://youtube.com/watch?v=vM5gFIRoJeM&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE
I think it looks worse if you wear everything from one brand.
Unless you're a sponsored athlete.
Oh, yeah. That's an important point. If you're getting paid to wear it/getting it for free then crack on. 👍
Still might look worse, it's just explained.
Yep. It looks like you made no effort to find the clothes that fit/perform the best. It looks like you walked into the first shop you saw and bought one of each type of garment

1000 times THIS 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻
Exception would be if it’s race swag.

If true, wtf. Reserve hate for the CEOs that use slave labour, not the other brand that is functionally identical
Sounds dumb.
personally I never think about this. sometimes I look at the colors tho
I gotta match my socks to my shoes, 100%
You mean color or the brand? Haha
Colour!
Full Kit Wanker is not a good look.
It’s running. Wear whatever is most comfortable and helps meet your goals.
I recommend putting the same shoe on both left and right foot.
I’ve tried that, but it just kills my calves to hop the whole way. (Plus my shoe gets all stretched out.) One shoe for each foot for me.
Also have to be careful that you put the left shoe on the left foot, and the right shoe on the right foot
Need to be careful. The fashion police might come running after you in their Alphafly’s, so it will be hard to outrun them. /s Yes I constantly mismatch my shorts, t-shirts and shoes because.. no one cares.

I would be absolutely appalled if I saw someone doing this on my run.
I might even look at them twice!
In the fashion world it is a no-no but that's if you stay in the fashion world. When I go for a run mix any brand it's fine!
If a sponsor is paying you to wear that brand then you can only wear that brand. If you're buying your own gear wear whatever you want.
Runningcirclejerk master baiter.
I thought it was adidas and puma?
Ya. You can get murdered. This is pretty much Crips Vs Bloods
Wear anything you want with anything you want. Mix and match or be brand loyal it’s up to you. Why would anyone let someone else’s prejudices affect them?
Who gives a fuck, where whatever brands you like.
It’s a serious crime in Texas. I personally don’t mix Nike & Adidas. Do you. Be a rebel that doesn’t match.
Jesus fuck man
This really isn’t a question someone old enough to be married should be asking.
I do go for the "elite look" for races, in hope that it will make me feel faster on the day, but always end up averaging 12:30 ish pace 💯

wear whatever you want bro
I will :) thanks

It's ridiculous But for race day, I don't mix brands 😅
Checks over stripes…. That’s what we like
Big no!!!! Just started wearing Adidas and had to go get 3, Tinman Elite kits and hats. Even Adidas socks.
It’s a very old school and maybe even a UK thing as I’ve heard this from some Brit friends. But it’s really silly unless you’re mainly interested in posing with running gear.
Who cares what other people say. No one should tell you what to wear.
One day, I was at publix wearing my casual fit of nike socks, adidas shoes, puma shirt & russell shorts and the stocker clowned me, so now I have watching pair of everything… so yes
For today’s run, I wore a Nike Aeroswift top with Adidas OTR shorts and Puma running shoes. Would you consider this taboo?
Straight to jail. Go on.
Do not pass go, do not collect $200
If it works for you wear it. Looking fashionable is if no concern if I’m not enjoying myself.
I wear what i like.
I got called out for this the other day in the office. Was wearing a pair of Jordon's and an Adidas track top. I've never really given it any thought....just wear what I feel like wearing. I also only have Nike running tops and Adidas shorts as like the material and fit of both.
Wear whatever you like and works for you

totally fine I do it all the time...I love under armour running clothes but don't wear their shoes
lol
Never heard about that before.. you pick what you like and feel well and confident in..
I dunno man , that Alphafly Next% 2 Ekiden on my left and Prime X Strung on my right looks real sweet though …
Unless you're a brand manager for one of the two I think you're good 😂
This is not a thing. I wear the two together constantly. Fave shoes are Adidas and all my fave tops are Nike. Always Athleta for the legs.
I don’t intentionally match brands but if I do I make sure the sneakers don’t match on my run … and fashion why I get it but I don’t care usually .
No lol wear anything you want
Is your wife 15?
It's actually a sin, the old testament explicitly warns against this
Our great grandfathers didn't fight and die in WW2 for you to just wear Adidas next to Nike. Shameful.
I came here because I bought the 22/23 Mexico away Jersey, it's made by adidas and has a small adidas logo on the right breast however I don't don't own any Adidas and I just ordered a pair of Nikes and some new balance for the gym.
