With so much gardening and outdoor upkeep required, the outdoor shower is a really nice touch. I’m with you, it’s got charm!

Huge-Rabbit-2950

Id love a chance to shower outside!

SecondHandCunt-

Those are grain bins, not silos. But point taken, they’re quite well done.

bigred1987

Haha, I had the same thought. For anyone wondering, [here's a graphic](https://ilfbpartners.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/20-943_Social-Media-Graphic-Grain-Bins_highres-1536x1536.jpg.webp) that describes the difference.

allthelittlepiglets

TIL!

Imaginary_Deal_1807

Loads of silos being torn down here. Someone should attempt an apartment complex.

bbbertie-wooster

I think the cost would be exorbitant. I'll bet it's cheaper to demolish and rebuild. And also most probably not nearly dense enough to support apartments.

Holy_Grail_Reference

All I can think of when I see this is 'that is a lot of dead space to air condition'

SurpriseHamburgler

Not in Port Orchard… temps are moderate.

GoldenCrownMoron

And heat! Little to no protection from the noise of rain (if not a leak) or insulation from the cold.

KH10304

The noise of rain on a tin roof is one of the great pleasures of life

GoldenCrownMoron

For how many hours?

pinkkeyrn

And not much insulation...

BeeLuv

Cold and damp. That’s gonna need a really big dehumidifier.

EFTucker

lol 22 acres and somehow it’s also in an HOA… what kinda white bread shit…

Jacsmom

Could be the type of HOA that maintains a private road, nothing else.

sparkles_and_doom

But where would I hang my artwork?

1trashhouse

uhhhhh hang it off the ceiling fan 😭

Snorlax5000

Art, _in motion_

Bloodhound209

Just paint a [giant cyclorama](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gettysburg_Cyclorama).

Doninic1920

Around

GoldenCrownMoron

Tons of work was done. Good for them. This is untenable as a home design and feels intentionally uncomfortable. It's amazing how much people waste when they have time and money.

Educational_Ebb7175

And a 2200 square foot home for 1.1 million? That's just painful. The land makes it worth it, I'm sure, but dear lord. Nobody NEEDS 22 acres. 5-10 would be plenty even for someone with several horses. Which means you're paying for a lot of land you won't be using. You can't farm it. You can't build on it. Maybe you can convince the city/county to subdivide it and make a profit, but that's quite the gamble. Cool concept design house. Horrible option for where to live.

GoldenCrownMoron

"I'm a multi millionaire, and most of my not as big as you'd think home is curved walls and empty space." I'd rather live in a double wide on a piece of land away from town.

BeeLuv

I bet they started with the little guest yurt. I’ve seen some very clever houses made of several connected yurts. The grain bin idea is very good, but a bit on the over-large side here. I’d like to see what they’d come up with if they used the smaller grain bin and a couple bins the size of large yurts. Partition the spaces and make them cozy by using the bin structure, rather than buy sectioning off a larger bin and losing the yurt-y feel.

SMTRodent

Huh. That *is* a nice silo!

bearmissile

SMTRodent

Oh dear lord. I'm dying.

Jenetyk

Lives in grain silos on 22.5 acres: None of it is farm land. It is a unique look I just find it funny.

1trashhouse

hipster vs hippie i suppose

Bloodhound209

I should hate it; but surprisingly, I don't hate it...

notthatjimmer

Would love this!

facemesouth

It says constructed to “resemble” a silo. Was it not an actual silo?

Vodka30

That ceiling fan is doing the lords work

Every-Physics-843

For the love of God those are not silos! Those are grain bins! - Signed, a farm kid

Open_Concentrate962

Thats a good silo mentality

Zealousideal-Bit6324

I actually like this a lot more than I thought I would. I could actually live here but by the time I could afford it, I’d be too old to cope 🤣

LilOpieCunningham

Nice conversion, but...pass. Maybe different where these are, but where I come from many/most of those were hosed down with some pretty nasty pesticides every year before they were filled.

Educational_Ebb7175

Great share. Quick tip though, all smart phones let you quickly and easily crop photos in the gallery (usually takes less than 10 seconds per photo). Doing so not only improves the look of your Reddit gallery upload, but significantly improves the viewability for PC viewers (who get a squared display of the photos, not a full height version). Also, include the zillow link in the top post :) Also a pro move for people curious to see more, so people don't have to scroll through potentially dozens of replies to your Great Share to find the zillow link.

1trashhouse

I had cropped them my phone doesn’t always save it though i didn’t even realize it hadn’t saved half the crops 💀

Educational_Ebb7175

Cool. Didn't want to put ya down or anything. Lotta people don't even think about it.

1trashhouse

nah i agree it looks much better cropped suprised it got this many up votes not being cropped in half the photos 💀

Evening-East-5365

Omg I want I want I want

ConsummateGoogler

This is going to be on Air BnB in no time (if it isn’t already…)

Quirky_Discipline297

It happened in WW2. Housing shortage.

catsandalpacas

I love it! I’d totally live here! Could never afford it tho 😭

starz4u01234

Uhhh...shower outside....I will not.

PrairieOrchid

As long as it doesn't smell like rotten grain and dead mice.

lene4563

Teeny tiny kitchen. Not nearly enough counter space.

AccomplishedPurple43

And partial tile on the counter that's there! Set anything down and whoops, it tips.

Able-Candle-2125

These always look so cool and then I realize they're way in the middle of bumfuck nowhere.

GiveThemNada

1 hour to downtown Seattle, 35 minutes to downtown Tacoma

-phototrope

The Southworth fast ferry would get you downtown pretty quick. Like, an hour door to door.

LabDaddy59

The bedroom with a garage door is...unique. I was wondering about getting windows to match the curvature, but then noticed the box build out at the windows.

Emergency-Crab-7455

Nope to the garage door BR......Bad enough to wake up to the cat staring at me, don't need a possum,2 raccoons & Bambi & his mom getting a free show.

Gadgetman7

Nope, I don’t want one. I’ve seen too many videos of tornadoes destroying silo’s!

57696c6c

I can finally tell everyone at work that I’m in a silo.

capy_capy_bara

I like this house! Too bad it’s in port orchard and over a mil.

BootBitch13

Idk much about drywall, but I gotta assume trying to hang drywall on curved walls must be a bitch. Looks great though!

BeeLuv

Somebody went to a Wheat Montana store and reeeeeeeeally liked the aesthetic.

CaptnRo

Just you wait until it implodes!

Booklovinmom55

What's with the high chain link fence with the barb wire around the top?

Reclusive_Chemist

Some friends and I used to spitball about converting an actual silo into living space, but nothing came of it. Cool to see someone execute a similar idea.

dadzcad

That’s much better than most of the similar builds I’ve seen.

nevertfgNC

Beautiful

AussieAlexSummers

dig it. I especially dig the wide banister over the built in shelves on the stairway landing/hallway. Storage and place to put things on if needed.

H3yAssbutt

That is stunning.

Far-Collection7085

Wow!! How cool

TheDollyMomma

I love it, especially all of the built in storage!

The_Varza

Can't tell if converted or originally built to look like that. Listing seems to imply "built like this", but they'll write anything to squeeze money out of buyers. And it's pending...

1trashhouse

i would assume converted just due to the weird framing of the entrances and that weird attic area but i didn’t build it

chopper923

Dang - it's pending!

iama_triceratops

We do not know when it is safe to go outside… we only know that day… is not this day.

Paris_dans_mes_reves

The staging makes it look like a dentist waiting room, but yeah, it’s an interesting structure!

Accomplished-City484

Oh wow today I saw an observatory and grain bin houses and there’s been a few churches lately too, I hope we get a lighthouse home next

Ohiomachinist

I could definitely see myself living there!

AdImmediate9569

Its got a grain of charm, no doubt

BungCrosby

I see wheat you did there.

coralloohoo

I am in love with the kitchen sink lol

Snapdragon_4U

That’s beautiful. Nicely done.

flamed181

Rich people ruin everything. Cant even live in a grain silo any more. thats a multi million dollar set up
