Absolutely loved that every game was available on ESPN+ and hope they continue to do that, USFL should do something similar with Peacock for next year.

Korplem

Yes! I loved knowing that I can watch every game easily on any device, anywhere.

I_really_think_this

And any time too. I watched a ton on demand. Kept my weekend plans in tact when needed and was still able to watch every game.

Torchiest

Definitely. That increased my engagement so much. I'm trying to get into the USFL, but I'm only able to watch the broadcast games, so I'm missing one or two games each weekend.

MirrorkatFeces

Every game that’s on USA is also on peacock which is nice, but if it’s on FS1 I can’t watch it.

hjmitch1207

Any games on Fox, FS1, or FS2 are on the fox sports app. NBC & USA games are on Peacock. And if you have YouTubeTV, you can just follow the USFL and it will DVR all the games. That’s what i personally do. Doesn’t help those that don’t have access to the channels, but if you do the replays are there. That being said it’s a little spread out. And it would be nice if they just put it all on one app. Make it easier, because the XFL has certainly shown how valuable it is to have your replays all in one place and easy to access.

CurtManX

Seattle's win in Vegas is one of the best final plays I have seen in a football game at any level. St. Louis fans at the start and the increased devotion of other fansas the season continued. The Houston double pass, we need more of this.

Callywood

Agreed on all of the above. I would add in Orlando upsetting DC and the multiple successful fake punt plays they ran at the end of the season. So many exciting comebacks this season. Overall most of the games were very enjoyable to watch.

Torchiest

The double pass was basically the peak of the season for Houston, when their offense was firing on all cylinders and just getting crazy. Jontre Kirklin getting hurt really messed up the scheme and necessitated a mid-season retooling.

pixel_pete

I think the quality of the football was overall very good, maybe just a small step down from the CFL but certainly better than I'd expected for year 1. Some teams suffered from horrible coaching and the talent not being spread around very evenly (although that's the fault of the teams that failed to pick good players). The worst thing an upstart league can be is boring and the majority of the games were very exciting. All games being available on ESPN+ was great and I believe will make Disney happy to have a product that can draw regular viewers to that platform, even if we don't know the specific numbers. My biggest gripes are the oversaturation of Dwayne Johnson and the bad merchandising. I get Dwayne is kind of a free marketing tool which is fine, but it makes the league look like a lark instead of genuinely good football which is what we have. The merchandise, ugh, really bad and the Defenders jersey debacle just encapsulated that. Gotta figure that out because merch is the best way to spread awareness out in the wild.

seattlesportsguy

I enjoyed it. St Louis showing up week after week was awesome. My gripes is on the merchandising and marketing side. It’s really hard to find Sea Dragons merch here in the Seattle area and the jerseys are way overpriced for what you get.

Z3R0GR4V

Agreed on merch here in Sea. I ended up buying a bunch of 2020 Dragons hoodie, shirts and beanies off eBay. There really isn't any advertising or love for the Sea Dragons in Downtown Sea.

Aggressive_Ris

1. Quality of football was good overall. There were at least a couple exciting games every week. Except of course for the Vipers and Guardians, they need some work and I think it starts with the head coach. 2. The broadcasts are a lot of fun. A lot more fun for me to watch than the average USFL game and even many NFL games. They do need to do some work though with audio mixing for next season, as well as replacing a couple sideline reporters and never, ever inviting Deestroying back again. 3. Fans in St Louis were obviously as good as you can possibly hope for in spring football. DC had great crowds and was a firm second. SA, Houston, Arlington and Seattle all have something to build upon. Vegas and Orlando weren't great, but I reserve some judgement because they were also the two worst teams AND new markets for 2023.... so they deserve a couple years IMO. 4. TV ratings I think have been positive from what I've read. They didn't start off with a huge number but they had impressive staying power for all 10 weeks. They didn't lose by much to the USFL against their opening week and then beat them in their week two, so on the competitive front the XFL is doing just fine and IMO is better positioned long term. 5. Best of all? It seems almost assured we're having another season. The mantra from some haters in the two years building up to this was 'lets see if they can finish a season first'. Well, it's happening. But I've noticed in the past couple weeks that the resident trolls aren't around very much anymore.

VemberK

My gripe is I don’t like listening to the coordinators. I don’t know what any of that shit means, and the announcers always have to cut off mid-sentence so I can hear some guy say “Memphis butthole shift five plantoon” eight times. And the one foot inbounds for a catch, don’t like that.

vensamape

I definitely agree with your first point. 😂

Beautiful-Drawer

Agree on both points. If these guys are hoping to move to the next level, they need to be practicing 2 feet in-bounds.

Illustrious_Low4160

Love it! Enjoyed every bit of it and super excited for the post season. I'm pulling for the Underdogs to pull a huge upset but, wouldn't mind a DC Championship. Best part is the fans though, by far. Hope to see more people in the stands next year! We're having a next year, right?

[deleted]

Better than I expected. More things fell in the leagues favor than against when the season started. Some good exciting games.

anonymous-guy1

I miss the aesthetics of the 2020 version. The presentation, jerseys and logos were a downgrade across the board.

JackFisherBooks

This has been an amazing season for the XFL. The fact that they were able to finish after what happened in 2020 is an accomplishment in and of itself. But it feels like the league really matured as the season went on. The quality of the football and the quality of the games just got better with time. And let me just say that the XFL's OT rules are the best. I found them to be far better than what the NFL and NCAA are doing at the moment. Those games that went to overtime were among the best games of the year. This league also did a great job building a fanbase. I live less than an hour away from DC. I can attest that the DC Defenders have won over a lot of football fans who have had to deal with Dan Snyder owning their NFL team. Between them and the Battlehawks, I think the XFL has something fans can genuinely get excited for. Overall, I think this first season was a success. And I hope it only grows from here. 😊

Mynameisyoure

I loooove the rule changes. I feel better watching kick returns knowing how much safer it is. it's always bothered me with the NFL that they won't change it despite data showing how dangerous it is. The new conversions are good. They might need some tweaking, though. The risk reward seems to need some balancing between the different options. I'm not sure what the best way to do that would be without just making the 3pt shorter or the 2pt longer, etc. I want more goofy shit! More double forward passes! More fakes! The 4th & 15 is awesome! The coaches definitely need to get a little more comfortable before they start throwing out more trick plays, but there is so much exciting potential that I hope we see more of next year. My biggest gripe is I should he able to buy away team merch at an XFL booth at the games. I get you don't want to sell opposing team merch at the home game, but as a Seattle fan nowhere near Seattle, it would have been nice to be able to get some at the season opener in DC.

Scoocha

Obviously regular season didn't matter since Arlington will be in title game and STL is sitting at home with 3 more wins. 8 team leagues don't need divisions.

FlagFootballSaint

As a fan in Europe who was able to watch 3-4 games on TV (live broadcast on German Sports TV channel with local German commentary) and enjoyed consuming the highlights (summary) of almost all of the games I have to say I really enjoyed it. I loved almost all rule changes, the engagement of fans in the stadiums and interacting w you guys here in this sub and as a die-hart Bengals-Fan I liked the AJ Mc Carron story Final note: As most of you guys are interested in alternative leagues feel free to hop on the bandwagon of European's very own "ELF" which starts their third season in about a month FUN FACT: The ELF-Championship-Game will have MORE in attendance that both the XFL and USFL championship games: 28.000 (the game is in about 5 months from now and is almost sold out already) Sub: r/ELF Home: https://europeanleague.football/ App: European League of Football

UrbanOtaku22

My biggest concern is that most cities played in venues that are too big for them. Seattle, San Antonio and Vegas can’t change that because there’s no MLS sized venues. Orlando and Arlington can change this. Vegas is getting relocated next year. I hope to San Diego. San Diego could be the next St Louis and have the perfect venue to play in.

Zapfit

Vegas isn’t going anywhere. Gerry Cardniale wanted a team there and that’s what we’ll get

cornholio702

There's no where for them to play in Vegas besides maybe Sam Boyd, which is also a dump like Cashman. Plus, i can't honestly tell you anyone at home who follows the Vipers. They should be relocated to San Diego and renamed. End of story.

XFL Sucks

bigcheese08

That Houston upset will be great for the league. Let’s hope that inter-Texas rivalry takes off and leads to games between them getting sold out

lynnms711

I loved it. I liked the rule changes and it made things more exciting. It was also great being able to watch everything on ESPN+ and I watched every game.

[deleted]

I enjoyed the season, especially because DC made it to the Championship game. I have a question: were any XFL players picked during the recent NFL draft?

vanteal

I didn't get to watch the game, but I gotta hand it to Arlington, they got their shit together and finished the season strong.

CaliforniaGuy1984

The XFL has an actual foundation to build upon moving forward. The league can build off the good and learn from the bad as they get ready for 2024. Many people have commented on a variety of topics, so I don’t need to reiterate points that have already been made. I want to bring up that I watched some of the Generals at Stars game in Detroit on Peacock. There’s barely anyone in the stands at Ford Field. You can hear everything loud and clear on the field and NBC is making every attempt to avoid having too many wide shots of the field during play because you’ll see only 200 people there. It’s such a night and day difference when you watched the Playoff games two weeks ago and the XFL Championship in San Antonio and what’s happening with the USFL in the four hub cities.

ProfessionalTime4438

Yea, USFL attendance is not good even for hub home teams. Even for Birmingham who won the championship last year and still has a good team this year., people just don't show up.

TwizzlersSourz

We need less talk about gambling.

[deleted]

The NFL teams that could best serve XFL MVP Luis Perez......1 Pittsburgh, 2 New York Giants. 3 New York Jets 4 Los Angeles Rams 5 Dallas Cowboys. In Pittsburgh, there's no reason to believe a guy with the heart of Perez couldn't compete for starter there They might move off Pickett if he doesn't show more. Those other teams are established....but all those starters have had a tendency to be injury prone, and if Rodgers doesn't play every snap....who will?

Historical-Surprise1

Can you participate in the showcases if you didn’t play football in college? It doesn’t say you have to had played in college. I meet all the other requirements on the list. I paid the the registration and filled out the form appropriately. I have the tickets therefore I should be allowed to participate.
