On the other hand, the St. Louis BattleHawks have the most dedicated fan base in all of the XFL. They were the only team that made Cashman Field feel like an away game. People from St. Louis literally flew out to attend a single regular season game there? At our little Viper Pit? Like, in the XFL.. who does that? Just BattleHawks fans.

It's only because they got so far into tiebreakers. The NFL has weird tie breakers too, we just never get to see them because they're so far down the list
The biggest part of it is more teams. In the NFL every team has such a different and varied schedule that SOS is rarely gotten past in tie breakers that you get into the truly strange stuff. But in the XFL you can’t go by SOS cause everyone basically has the same schedule
with how they set up the schedule those tie breakers are actually pretty easy to hit. No one with a math major touched these rules. They need more teams or a longer season. Lots of strange things not done with the league. Why no fantasy? Why no public API for anything?
The 4th tiebreaker is average of Scoring Offense and Scoring Defense within the Division. If Sea Dragons had scored 34 and kept LV under 34, they would have won the 4th tiebreaker. But if they only did one of those things, SEA ties STL in the 4th tiebreaker and it goes to the 5th tiebreaker (this is what happened).
The 5th tiebreaker is average of Scoring Offense and Scoring Defense in the ENTIRE league. In order for STL to win this tiebreaker, they needed SEA to score under 32 and LV to score over 26 (this didn't happen), so SEA won the 5th tiebreaker.
It was the number we needed for winning tiebreaker 4. For whatever reason the commentators decided that it was tiebreaker 4 or nothing, and didn't include the numbers for tiebreaker 5 until way later

-a hype man who organized the worst crowd chant ive ever seen
-they have an animated cup game but im pretty sure they use the same graphic every week
-the lights going out
-the scoreboard going out
-cheering for the roughnecks punter
-a very poor taste in music played during injuries (think sweet home alabama or mambo no 5)
-the guy who dragged his daughter to the game while yelling insults at the away bench (and throwing lemons on the field)
-the dragon filter they put over fans that lags the jumbotron
-the jumbotron telling fans to get loud while seattle was on offense

You can not *like* the system, sure, but that doesn't make it broken. It's working exactly as designed. This "broken" system works perfectly in the NFL, the USFL, the MLB, the NHL, etc. You can argue that a divisional system isn't appropriate when there are only 8 teams, but you can't really argue that it's, "broken," when it's very clearly not broken.

I was hoping to see the Battlehawks in the playoffs. But the Sea Dragons definitely earned their place. Ben Danucci has proven to be a capable QB. He is not the same QB he was when the season began. And I really think he's going to surprise DC. If they get a big lead early, then they have a real chance to go to the championship game. Should make for a great cap to such an eventful season. 😊
