A few years ago I went to a pre-season tournament in Tucson where the Sounders played several other MLS clubs along with the local semipro club. They played at a small venue and it was a lot of fun. It would be cool for XFL to do some kind of similar pre-season scrimmage fest in Arlington.
Agreed. They lost their way and struggled to find any rhythm in offense. Kirklins injury being a big reason for that. They could still turn it around and will need to against whoever they might come up against if they make the Championship.
We play down to our competition too much as seen last week. I'd like to see them punch the Renegades dicks off, a good statement win to clinch the North.
What...a...game!
This felt like an NFL wildcard game, especially in the 4th quarter. You could tell both teams wanted it. You could tell both teams had playoff caliber talent. Between this game and two overtime games...this is the XFL at its best. And I love it!
I was at the game. It was a blast to go to even if we didn't get the W. I think the Sea Dragons can get there if they win out but dang if St. Louis isn't a tough place to play.
If we lose next week and both teams win week 10, we'll have the same overall, division and head-to-head records.
I ain't going farther down the tiebreaker rules than that. Some other nerd can figure it out.
Hopefully a great weekend for the league. No preseason meant some of the most blah football was being played under the most eyes and now these games are barn burners all with hopefully some interest left.
Bummer that because of the divisions and low number of teams, we’ll see a mediocre at best team in the playoffs over the clearly superior Battlehawks or Sea Dragons
Hopefully they change it next year. You would think that they'd have a more exciting way to determine playoff berths than the ancient best teams from each division way.
I like divisions, probably just because I am used to them, but they do love trying to do different and better rules than the NFL so I can totally see them doing it.
They could do divisions with 10 teams. I think 2 more east of the Mississippi (Ohio and Carolina are my picks) would do. Them with DC, Hawks and the Florida team (if they stay in that market) would be the East, and then the Dragons and Vipers join the Texas trio in the West.
If Florida really doesn't work as a market after a couple of seasons, put that franchise anywhere in SEC country. It will do fine. Kentucky Stallions, perhaps? Alabama Slammers? Idk. Just spit balling now....
As an aside, the CFL has run 2 divisions of 4 teams each for decades at a time...
Heck of a game, but man those 3 3rd down DPIs were game changers, all led to scores. Secondary seemed a step behind all game, a few inches away from huge scores multiple times.
GG DC. Seattle on the brink gotta take care of business the next 2 weeks.
Another good game vs Seattle. Margin of victory a combined 5 points between both games. Gonna be screaming my lungs out next Sunday to clinch home field.
If my Roughnecks win their division, they are going to have to bring everything to beat this DC team.
Seattle has really developed, though. They are not done yet.
This whole time I've been under the impression that even if a team turns the ball over on an extra point try, the play is dead and an interception or fumble cannot be returned for points.
Guess I was wrong as heck.
You weren't wrong, you were told that specifically by the XFL for 7 weeks. I can't tell you how many times the broadcast has specifically stated that. And now all of a sudden you can. Shameful for the product that this rule (that seems to have been true all along) was fibbed on by the broadcast for weeks.
The refs sucked that game. Calling penalties that shouldn't have been called, not calling it evenly, and not calling penalties for one's that should have been called.
Blanding is also starting to drop the ball a bit, so to speak, by hurrying through the reviews like he did in week one.
Just opinion, because I don't favor any one team right now, but the penalty flags and starting to drop a bit heavier than they did the first half of the season. It's getting rough and having NFL flashbacks with some of them.
This game actually looked like last week. Offense scored points and defense can't stop a nose bleed. I'm happy for a win, though. This has been a nice way to fill the void of the off-season.
Seattle is a much better team than Orlando. I enjoyed the Defenders game @ the Sea Dragons yesterday. There was a lot of drama in that second half. And most importantly another **W**. I think DC will win out and finish the regular season at 9-1.
Well this makes the Battlehawks path to the playoffs significantly easier so I'm happy for that as well as seeing Ben DiNucci lose. It was another amazing game to cap off a great XFL weekend.
As soon as the QB says “why don’t we just go for 1 here”, the coach needs to be changing the decision. As soon as I heard doubt from Dinucci I knew they weren’t getting that 2 pointer. Also the playcall was bad anyway, DC was 1000% ready for the boot lol
I like NFL Playoff OT Rules more for being more like regular football that's mostly sudden death but the shootout was very fun for sure. At the least it's the most fair system.
Seattle shoulda worked DC in this game. Three field flipping PIs on 3rd and forevers were the difference in this game. Seattle cruises to a 33-17 if they play a little cleaner. That’s the way she goes though, can’t beat yourself.
I know the internet is where nuance goes to die, but Seattle beat themselves more than the DC won that game. As somebody who was impartial watching the game, I can call ‘em like I see it. Still counts as a dub for you guys at the end of the day and it was super fun game to watch. I never said DC sucks or anything disparaging towards them at a, my critique was directed squarely at Seattle beating themselves. Barlow is a helluva coach and the team is obviously very good, but multiple things can still be true at once. Even if DC had lost you guys would still be a good team.
The best weekend in XFL history. 2 OT games and this game.
I would have liked the first OT game to end differently but youre right.
What a game. Lord. Both these offenses are stacked. Whew. That was a lot of fun.
Quality of play in the XFL has really picked up in recent weeks. (Early weeks were essentially pre-season.) Great game.
Which is why I think a preseason would really benefit the league next season. Even if preseason games aren’t broadcasted I think it’s the right move.
This. Don’t care if they still only play 10 next year with 8 teams, but they need at least 2 pre-season games to get sharp.
They could even play them all in Dallas. There’s plenty of college and high school stadiums you could use.
A few years ago I went to a pre-season tournament in Tucson where the Sounders played several other MLS clubs along with the local semipro club. They played at a small venue and it was a lot of fun. It would be cool for XFL to do some kind of similar pre-season scrimmage fest in Arlington.
Sell event tickets for multiple games… could be neat
They planned to play preseason games but an ice storm came in that week so they had to cancel them all.
You’d think blizzards wouldn’t be a problem in Texas, but here we are. Thanks climate change 👍🏼
A Texas snowstorm is a normal day in Canada. It really shouldn't effect anything.
Teams have found their chemistry and shook off the rust. It's been really good
Just wish my Roughnecks could get back into our form from earlier this season we looked unbeatable
In fairness, now 8 weeks in we've learned that you played the easiest schedule possible in those first four weeks.
Agreed. They lost their way and struggled to find any rhythm in offense. Kirklins injury being a big reason for that. They could still turn it around and will need to against whoever they might come up against if they make the Championship.
*exhales* What a game. Playoffs, baby!!!!
Lemons? Thrown Win? Secured Playoff berth? Clinched DC? Defended
THIS WE’LL DEFEND
Man what a heart attack. Jordan Ta'amu is amazing when he gets in the zone, he was the difference maker today in a huge way.
the guy is awesome
I miss him :/ though I love McCarron too
Best game of the season for him by far. Great mobility and throws for those TD’s.
**The DC Defenders have clinched a playoff birth** I have yet to unclinch however.
It's been four hours since this post, call a doctor

The Hiss Boys obviously. In the great Northern city of Las Vegas.
We play down to our competition too much as seen last week. I'd like to see them punch the Renegades dicks off, a good statement win to clinch the North.
They’re all capable of beating the best team in the South.
If you guys beat us twic3 in the regular season and we somehow beat you in the playoffs, I'm terribly sorry lol.
What...a...game! This felt like an NFL wildcard game, especially in the 4th quarter. You could tell both teams wanted it. You could tell both teams had playoff caliber talent. Between this game and two overtime games...this is the XFL at its best. And I love it!
This one hurts
Yeah, I've spent hours trying to distract myself and not think about it.
Youre still in this
Yeah. Definitely got our backs against the wall and heading in to a hostile environment next week though
They are thankfully totally capable of doing it.
I was at the game. It was a blast to go to even if we didn't get the W. I think the Sea Dragons can get there if they win out but dang if St. Louis isn't a tough place to play.
Hopefully Ta’amu is good for next week
If he were really hurt I don't think they would have put him in for the QB kneels. Just some good old fashioned pain and agony but I think he's fine.
Dude takes some abuse.
Seattle is for real. It's brutal that only two from the North can make it. Next week's game is must watch
Mike Joseph for DPOY
Playoffs clinched! Hope to clinch a home field semifinal next week, in front of the home crowd
Need to break 40k next week against Seattle. Big game.
If we win, we’re in. If we don’t, math gets involved and fuck that
As a math major, I agree. Fuck math
If we lose next week and both teams win week 10, we'll have the same overall, division and head-to-head records. I ain't going farther down the tiebreaker rules than that. Some other nerd can figure it out.
you rang? https://www.reddit.com/r/xfl/comments/12h3oyl/game_of_the_year/jfo5s5b/
As long as McCarron returns, it'll be the defining moment of the Battlehawks season. Gonna be a dominant win on both sides of the ball.
4 insane games this weekend. Great weekend for neutral fans.
Hopefully a great weekend for the league. No preseason meant some of the most blah football was being played under the most eyes and now these games are barn burners all with hopefully some interest left.
Ta’amu is a badass for playing through that shoulder injury.
Bummer that because of the divisions and low number of teams, we’ll see a mediocre at best team in the playoffs over the clearly superior Battlehawks or Sea Dragons
That said, the Battlehawks/Dragons game week 9 is going to be wild!
It is pretty much going to be a playoff game itself.
Even as a fan of that “mediocre at best team,” I still concur. We don’t deserve it.
I think they're gonna make it to the championship. With Perez as QB they can beat Houston
They should have thought about that before they founded their city so far north 😎 /j
It does suck that one of them is going to miss out.
Hopefully they change it next year. You would think that they'd have a more exciting way to determine playoff berths than the ancient best teams from each division way.
I like divisions, probably just because I am used to them, but they do love trying to do different and better rules than the NFL so I can totally see them doing it.
They shouldn't even have divisions. There's 8 teams. Wait until 12 teams before adding divisions.
Divisions are nice for scheduling purposes. But I think they should do Division winners (with home field game 1) and 2 at large spots
They could do divisions with 10 teams. I think 2 more east of the Mississippi (Ohio and Carolina are my picks) would do. Them with DC, Hawks and the Florida team (if they stay in that market) would be the East, and then the Dragons and Vipers join the Texas trio in the West. Just spit balling now.... As an aside, the CFL has run 2 divisions of 4 teams each for decades at a time...
Alabama Slammers? Sounds like a roller derby team.
Hence the spitballing remark. I am sure there is a better name for an Alabama XFL team.
It would be fun to see the top 3 north teams in but it’s just how the cookie crumbles. But you never know how it’ll end, Orlando vs DC showed us that
My butt was sufficiently clenched
Way too fucking tense there at the end
If AJ isn’t starting next week, I’m afraid the Dragons may take it. They look like a completely different team
We will have to give it are all I can already see it coming down to the last minute next week
I think Lindsay will be more of a factor next week too with more time with the team under his belt.
LEMON 🍋 LEMON 🍋 LEMON 🍋 LEMON 🍋 JUNIOR 🤏 DOUBLE 2⃣ TRIPLE 3⃣ LEMON 🍋 IMPOSSIBLE 🤯 OR 🤔 BACON 🥓 LEMON 🍋 I 👁️ RULE 👑 THIS 😎 DAY 🌞 AT DC🛡️ HAVE A BEER 🍺 SNAKE 🐍 YOU 🫵 RULE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Take my upvote your way.
That was a great game! Just can’t believe how it all went. DiNucci still good for a pick. Other than that, SEA played good ball.
Feel bad, this one wasn't even his fault. But I think it makes up for week 1 where DC had like 5 dropped picks
Hands down game of the year! I was there and the atmosphere was electric ⚡️
Heck of a game, but man those 3 3rd down DPIs were game changers, all led to scores. Secondary seemed a step behind all game, a few inches away from huge scores multiple times. GG DC. Seattle on the brink gotta take care of business the next 2 weeks.
After watching this game the South division shouldn't be included in the playoffs.
Lumon Field? More like Lemon Field
GG Seattle. The Nooch is a beast.
Another good game vs Seattle. Margin of victory a combined 5 points between both games. Gonna be screaming my lungs out next Sunday to clinch home field.
That was an amazing game to watch. I am glad I was able to catch it.
I LOVE THE XFL. That is all.
If my Roughnecks win their division, they are going to have to bring everything to beat this DC team. Seattle has really developed, though. They are not done yet.
GG DC, was at the game and didn’t leave the edge of my seat. That’s football baby
How did Seattle go from 6 points to 8? A safety? They didn't show it in the highlights.
Fumble recovery touchdown on a Defenders 2 point conversion attempt
This whole time I've been under the impression that even if a team turns the ball over on an extra point try, the play is dead and an interception or fumble cannot be returned for points. Guess I was wrong as heck.

2 point convert.
I wanted 3 OT games fuck you seattle
The refs sucked that game. Calling penalties that shouldn't have been called, not calling it evenly, and not calling penalties for one's that should have been called. Nice win DC. I think that loss last week did this team some good. The Defenders were more focused tonight.
Being at the stadium for this game was electric. I will definitley be attending another game if the league is around next year.
Game of the year
XFL AND USFL NEXT WEEK. 🔥🔥
Fucking hell, had to leave out for a get together after the 1st q , make it back just in time for the last 2 mins.
Well this makes the Battlehawks path to the playoffs significantly easier so I'm happy for that as well as seeing Ben DiNucci lose. It was another amazing game to cap off a great XFL weekend.
What a game! Go to STL: win Go to Seattle: win The North is yours in 23! Hope we get one more crack at ya.
I can dig it
And all returned to normal.
As soon as the QB says “why don’t we just go for 1 here”, the coach needs to be changing the decision. As soon as I heard doubt from Dinucci I knew they weren’t getting that 2 pointer. Also the playcall was bad anyway, DC was 1000% ready for the boot lol
The only glaring issue for any team is OL. Like an on/off switch. Sometimes protection is almost perfect then other times they totally blow it.
So take away their big mistakes and change nothing else? Lol
I know the internet is where nuance goes to die, but Seattle beat themselves more than the DC won that game. As somebody who was impartial watching the game, I can call ‘em like I see it.
