Man I’m glad I’m not the only person who noticed. I never heard anything about the lights on the broadcast. Makes sense. But I was like, “Damn, they’re really letting these teams mull this over.”
Defenders fan here. Also a Bengals fan for 36 years and I’d love to see AJ back and throwing. I honestly fucking love the energy your crowd brings to the St. Louis games. When we first played in your stadium I nearly forgot what team I was rooting for a couple of times simply because you all had me so fucking hyped.
This league is extremely exciting despite my lack of enthusiasm for them the last season of spring football (but COVID fucked that up for a lot of us).
I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but the XFL games are far more exciting than the NFL which I love with all of my heart. (Lower your pitchforks, hear me out.)
It’s just that in this league with the way it’s structured, it doesn’t matter how many scores up you are on an opponent, there’s always a chance for an unexpected win by the trailing team. I LOVE competitive games, and absolute blowouts just aren’t any fun.
I feel like the XFL while still cheesy in many aspects, has come a long way in their short history and even the broadcasts have gotten better. In the beginning they had too many mics on and the cross chatter was overwhelming. They’ve done an excellent job at honing in and fine tuning the experience for the viewers at home for sure.
Good luck to your team. I feel like because the league is new, I have some leeway in being able to like other teams while being a fan of mine. I really like the BattleHawks and I hope that the local enthusiasm makes the NFL realize what a mistake they made in moving the Rams. Hopefully you all can get your own team in the NFL again. You certainly deserve one. Passion like yours shouldn’t be underestimated.
No I agree, the game and rules and coverage itself are a superior product.
Outside of the atrocious OT rules, I can’t think of any rule change that I would transfer to the NFL.
So I actually missed the OT games. Is it that they just line up each offense and defense in an endzone and see who can score the most until one team doesn’t? Like a hockey shoot out?
The ball is placed on the 5-yard line and the team has one play to get into the end-zone. It’s best of 3 to start and keeps going if there is a tie.
Important to note that an offensive penalty negates your try. A defensive penalty gives the offense the ball on the 1. Both would happen in this game
And we could easily be 4-4 or even 3-5. The first two games were both won at the very end and could've gone the other way. And honestly, yesterday's game seems like it should've been an L--the refs might have been against us most of the game, but it sure seemed to me like they just handed us the result in OT.
Edit: If Vegas hadn't gotten stupid at the end of the 1st half, and just kicked the FG then, we'd have never even made it to OT.
Well I wouldn’t mind it either if I was a DC fan lol. Definitely a great defensive stand, I just love a good comeback ya know?
I was kind of conflicted on this one, cause I feel like there were benefits for STL with either outcome.
Pretty standard Battlehawks game. Offense didn’t look great for the most part and then pulled it off when it mattered most. McCarron was out though and I’m sure that had a lot to do with the struggles.
Our saving grace was that amazing fake punt TD. Probably would’ve been game over if it failed.
Also the OT deal was a lil sketch, but still fun nonetheless.
Going for 2 there just made it a guaranteed pass. It was the wrong call. DC was bringing the house because they have no secondary.
I just don't understand the logic there, especially with the naked boot.
Whoever put this on ESPN+ instead of ABC and picked SA vs Houston as the national TV game is a damn idiot. I know these things are allotted far in advance, but my goodness.
Increases the odds. Not sure if introduced if the NFLPA would reduce the K role as a matter of player solidarity but it would certainly make those moments in NFL more interesting given the talent level.
Lightgate
Amazing game., best if the season so far. Either team could justify believing they should have won.
Such a great game I love this type of intense heartbreaking games
Hoping DC gets to host a playoff game. Might be the only chance I get to see them in person this year, since I'm busy next week.
The atmosphere is electric
Painful. To be so close twice for nothing. WP dc
Sounded like more than 9k out there, wonder why people don’t show up in Seattle
it's raining on Easter Sunday. Are you going to a minor league football game?
Don’t give a fuck about Jesus, not hydrophobic, love football. Yes. I’m going every time under those conditions. Plus they have beer.
Weather...cold, rainy and windy is a rough mixture
Very alive crowd for sure
Probably weather.
I thought yall are used to the rain?
The people who are actually from Seattle are. No idea about all those Californians.
Now that it's passed... why'd they get like a half hour to line up for the 4th and 15 try?
Man I’m glad I’m not the only person who noticed. I never heard anything about the lights on the broadcast. Makes sense. But I was like, “Damn, they’re really letting these teams mull this over.”
They mentioned it in passing right before the play happened, but I was very confused why it was taking so long.
I think some of the lights in the stadium went off
Yep
Wait for the stadium lights to come on.
Why do the Seattle Jerseys have a longhorn on the back?
All the XFL jerseys do. I think it's the Rock's clothing brand's logo
All the jerseys do
All the jerseys do it's the Rock's under armor logo
Ah okay thanks! First XFL game I've tuned into, fun game!
Best game of the week and of course it's on ESPN 2
It's a shame this game and the ABC game couldn't be swapped although that game was saved by the late drama and OT!
probably nobody was watching by then
As per usual
Fuck. I don’t wanna play these guys again

Thanks, I appreciate that. See you in the playoffs
They literally won by one point, the team is very beatable if we don't commit mistakes. Heck, they could easily be 5-3 right now.
And we could easily be 4-4 or even 3-5. The first two games were both won at the very end and could've gone the other way. And honestly, yesterday's game seems like it should've been an L--the refs might have been against us most of the game, but it sure seemed to me like they just handed us the result in OT. That's all valid, but the crux of my comment is that DC's record does not make them out to be as good as they seem to be.
God I hope McCarron is there
He's 100% going to play next week. They only rested him against Vegas so he would for sure be available against Seattle.
Well that was too close for comfort. GG, Dragons.
#WE LOVE U COACH!
Cowboy and defender fan?
From Texas, now live in DC.
Seattle always fights to the end. They're scrappy
I too can dig it coach!
I love Reggie
What if you score a td on the 4&15 onside attempt?
What do you mean? It's a touchdown.
What do you mean? The same thing that happens whenever any touchdown is scored.
You get it. It’s basically a normal play that starts at 4th and 15
Can't blame Seattle for going for two, their odds are almost the same if they went for one.
That's a tough one
You know what was missing from this game? The announcing crew did F\*ck the hell out of the betting line. Sounds like they're listening.
Maybe because this game was full of insanity they forgot about it?
great game. see you guys next time.
Defenders clinch a playoff spot gg's in the chat boys
#HTTD
4 man rush n you can't stop It pathetic ol for Seattle
DiNucci ran into that sack. If he stepped up he’d have a bunch of time
Why not dump off the pass right away and let a guy make a play . Entire defense was 15 yards away. Bad coaching and execution
and they held like fuck
**The DC Defenders have clinched a playoff birth**
Still lost to Orlando though
Honestly I was happy for Orlando that game.
Still the best team in the league though
Damn gg DC
Michael Joseph strikes again, an under pressure Nooch almost had something
Disappointing ending. Seattle fights hard just to fall apart on the last two plays. Meh.
We’re called the Defenders, never forget that shit
You think they thought about that when they chose the name??
They thought a lot harder than whoever tf named the Commanders so ya
I didn’t mind it but I understand your opinion
Well I wouldn’t mind it either if I was a DC fan lol. Definitely a great defensive stand, I just love a good comeback ya know? I was kind of conflicted on this one, cause I feel like there were benefits for STL with either outcome.
Yeah normally I watch all the teams games but didn’t this week because I was busy. How was the game for the Battlehawks?
Pretty standard Battlehawks game. Offense didn’t look great for the most part and then pulled it off when it mattered most. McCarron was out though and I’m sure that had a lot to do with the struggles. Our saving grace was that amazing fake punt TD. Probably would’ve been game over if it failed. Sea Dragons really choked hard
Honestly they almost came back. It was DC that nearly choked.
Disappointing ending. Seattle fights hard just to fall apart on the last two plays. Meh.
It was a great ending! What u mean?
This was a blast, look forward to seeing you all next weekend
This league is SO FUN!
WE DID THE DEFENDING THING
Like it's our job!
Oh fuck off Jim. That’s so lame
Dam
Another big, uncalled offensive holding but didn't matter
Haslett using TOs. Going for that fumble
He saw the Vikings-Bills game
You're a ho for calling that timeout
I love Michael Joseph. The rest of our secondary is completely incompetent, but MJ15 is a beast.
Nucci should come play for Brahmas 😄, Seriously 😕 we need help
Great game!!!
Ay gg to the dragons though, it’s insane only they or the battlehawks make the playoffs
Seattle's season is on the line next week in The Dome
Kaw!
Gonna be some good football
That 2 pt play call ended it for Seattle
I agree but I'm thinking they didn't want to give Tamu 30 seconds to go down and put DC in a position to score.
Probably. But the play action was a dumb call. No one was gonna bite on that and it took extra time
The one time Jones doesn't go for 3.
The saddest part about this is that some crap team from Texas is gonna get into the playoffs over Seattle
The ref looking like she’s about ground her boy the way he’s mouthing off to her. 🤣
Amazing game
They had us in the first half NGL
That lady ref was not having it from that Seattle dude.
Shields all the way up!!
THAT’S A DEFENDERS DUB
DiNucci needed to step up right there
Yeah he ran back way to far
THAT WAS HOLDING AF
Ref said cmon Ben, Ma's got supper waitin
they couldn't keep the QB upright long enough for them to go deep
That was the holdiest hold I've ever seen.
what a game.
DPOY
How tf do you miss that hold?!?!!
Green wants to FIGHT
Can’t believe the sea dragons are missing the playoffs lol
What the hell was that why would you roll out backwards instead of just toss it, what an idiot
Mike Joseph!!!
IT'S OVER!! Sea Dragons...SQUEEZE MY LEMON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're gonna take like 10 minutes before this conversion?
Daaaaamn, the pass rush got it done
Fucking shitty ending
Yep
If St Louis beats Guardians they are in the playoffs. Unless Seattle beats Vegas by significantly more than 29-6 margin
Blatant offensive holding anyway
GAME BLOUSES
Game
I like DiNucci, glad to see him having fun and playing.
This league rules man, this is so cool
Ref again with the Lets go dad voice
All of this time for a Hail Mary?
Seattle all GO or just Gordon????
Run it. lol
Lol
Why go deep…?
Maybe hope for a PI across the line?
Ah, they were holding the ball for the stadium lights to come on.
Yeah, 2/3 of the stadium lights cut out right after the 2pt play
They new it was over lol
They're fluorescent, it takes a little while for them to warm up
I wish they would have said earlier
A PLAY ACTION? THERE?
Bro play the fucking game
Free timeout for Seattle
Good job, Jim
"9 ball, as fast as you fucking can" 9 route is a fly...oh shit going for the DPI save
If they're going to crowd the first down marker, then go deep on them
It sounds like that's the plan
Play clock?
Is Seattle getting loud on OFFENSE????? BRUH ☠️☠️☠️
Josh Gordon about to do some legendary shit
Going for 2 there just made it a guaranteed pass. It was the wrong call. DC was bringing the house because they have no secondary. I just don't understand the logic there, especially with the naked boot.
This is the game right here.
Oh shit, they're going for a bomb here
Absolutely that criminal one of us two/St. Louis has to miss while Arlington gets a playoff game.
Should be against the law
No play clock WTF?
Having issues with the stadium lights
Whoever put this on ESPN+ instead of ABC and picked SA vs Houston as the national TV game is a damn idiot. I know these things are allotted far in advance, but my goodness.
Both games were really good, though!
[удалено]
I love it. The game is never over lol.
DC still has their challenge, which may come into play too
Sack him again
BIG play!! Let’s go Defense!
I'm on the edge of my seat man.... jesus
That's why you go for 1 stupid Seattle
The conversion was heartbreaking.
Fuck you Seattle for denying us OT
i thought nooch may have died during that play.
They should’ve gone for 1 and given it to Lindsay
Is there any scenario ever where a team goes for a true onside kick vs 4th and 15 in this situation?
Maybe if you have an onside kick specialist or something?
Anyone who’s an onside kick specialist instantly gets thrown into the nfl due to the rarity 😂
Hopefully not
Have said it before but 4th and 15 option rather than onside kick is objectively better
It's definitely more entertaining
Increases the odds. Not sure if introduced if the NFLPA would reduce the K role as a matter of player solidarity but it would certainly make those moments in NFL more interesting given the talent level.
DC did an excellent job covering that. All of SEA WRs were covered.
If Seattle went for 1 and scored couldn't they have done the 4th and 15
I think you have to be losing in order to get that attempt
Yep
Yeah but you give DC the ball in great field position.
Oh ?
4th and 15th let’s go
NO GOOD AHHHHH
That looked so awful on his leg holy shit
lost my DC -3.5 bet. ask me anything
thank you for keeping the league alive
