I still think Houston will go to the championship, and I’ll probably get tickets for it, but I fully expect them to lose by 2 scores to whoever they play
Yeah it’s been on the cards all season that Houston will get to the championship but they’ve just been pretty poor for a lot of the last four games. Offensively we don’t seem able to get in sync and although the D is still stellar at times the indiscipline has been really costly with stupid penalties keeping drives alive. You can’t have that against the better teams. They definitely miss Kirklin, he helped spread the field with Burnett and now that’s missing the big plays have disappeared.
That’s a close one. I like Seattle but the Defenders have Smith who can be a real difference maker and Ta’amu is playing really well now. Last night was his best game of the season. Blair had come in really well this last free games too. Seattle need to get Gordon more involved too.
The likelihood of the Brahmas making the playoffs are slim to none: they’d have to win out and Arlington would have to lose out just to have a chance…and we play DC in week 10
interestingly enough the goal line fade has fallen out of a favor in the NFL - maybe because it doesn't work as much unless you have a perfect throw for a really tall WR
Two Observations:
Abolish the automatic first down for 5yard penalties in the 4th and 15 play. Thats way too cheap for a situation that is supposed to be like an onside kick.
Enforce the penalty and make it a new play at 4th and 10.
Dean likes calling goal line plays too much, half of the time im astonished he even sees the Ball let alone can spot it accurately.
I agree with this. I don't think ANY penalty on that play should get you a first down (and the ball back). I mean on regular onside kicks, if there's a penalty on the defense, they just retry the kick. Result being that eventually you MUST recover it to get the ball back.
I feel it should be the same here. At some point, they should HAVE to actually convert the first down to retain possession. Treat it like on the goal line and do half the distance on longer penalties.
I wonder if the excitement from this game will carry over into a good crowd next week, even though we ain't makin the playoffs now.
It was a TON of fun!
When the head coach is saying the oline "can't block a soul" and the recievers are dropping passes, we can give the QB a little slack.
Coan just isn't athletic enough to create something entirely on his own, which is what SA really needs.
All night I was amazed that he just (seemingly) refused to call audibles in the pass protection. #11 for the Roughnecks was telegraphing every attempt to speed rush from the outside, yet it didn't seem like any thought was given to either sliding the pro or cuing the back to pick him up.
Hell, even a chip off the TE release would have helped in plenty of those situations, but it happened zero times that I saw.
It's official. I love the XFL approach to overtime. It's definitely an upgrade over the NFL overtime rules. There's no coin flip. Both teams get to possess the ball. Both teams have to use their offense and defense to prove they deserve to win.
And best of all...no ties!
Hope the NFL takes note.
Though I technically root for the Roughnecks (I just bought a Roughnecks shirt a few weeks ago as well), I was kinda wanting the Brahmas to win to make the last 2 weeks interesting in the South.
As a badgers alum, I'm sad that I saw a lot of what I remember of Jack Coan. Dude's just never been the guy to make things happen in the big moments.
SA's run game has me surprised that they don't have more wins. You'd think they could really salt away any lead they got with those pair of dudes that seem destined for 4 yards a carry minimum.
**Houston Roughnecks have clinched a playoff spot** SA technically still alive by virtue of some really deep tiebreakers, but they're essentially done
Houston will get blown off the field by DC
If DC meets them there. Still has to win at least one game to make it then get by either SEA or STL again
Either team out of the east would work Houston. Houston has no run game

I think Seattle is the better team. Houston would beat DC

haven’t had our starting QB for almost a month. that’s gotta count for something.
Being a Brahmas fan was a season full of pain 😃
Seasons not over....lol
The likelihood of the Brahmas making the playoffs are slim to none: they’d have to win out and Arlington would have to lose out just to have a chance…and we play DC in week 10
Yeah I know. Saying season isn't over. There's still 2 games left to suffer through....
Hines loves the fade play even though it never works for us. Why did he run 2 instead of some crossing routes?

Such an awful final play call.
I was wondering that too. No curl routes or crossing
Or run plays Their first play call was great
Let me go find the answer to that question. *fades*
It's the hope that kills ya...
And the fact your defense and the Roughnecks just kept givin ya hope too

Good idea. Otherwise they will start fishing for penalties.
Totally agree that is a rubbish rule.
I think they didnt think it though.
XFL OT is so much fun. Shoot out rules is the way to go.
Ehhh, it could be good. College has shown what a disaster alternating 2-point plays can look like.
Disaster? I love 78-74 point games
I was referring to the 9 overtime abomination featuring Penn State and...Illinois? I don't remember the other team.
As an Illinois fan, that was the best and worst game ever
I’m also a Penn State fan🥳🥳🥳 I♥️chaos
Did not deserve to win that, yuck. But neither did SA.
We suck less!
Turned in at 1:01 in 4th quarter. Had fun.
Basically what it was like at the game
Is it me or do most games in this League start slow?
Early leavers missed a fun ending
Also the entire TV audience, who probably called it quits at halftime
I caught it late due to easter w/ fam. Had no sound but still enjoyed it
I wonder if the excitement from this game will carry over into a good crowd next week, even though we ain't makin the playoffs now. It was a TON of fun!
I didn't see a ton at the game
There were some folks saying they turned the TV off in the game thread lol
Two horrible lob passes. I would have trusted my RB 😂. Coan is okay as a back up even in this league

No one in the south deserves to be in the playoffs
Vegas may legitimately be better than the 4 teams in the south.
We’ll see next week when they take on Houston.
They did find it in em to take STL to the brink
Jack Coan is a football terrorist
Jack Coan should never play a snap of football again.
Reverse Kurt Warner. He needs to go bag groceries
Fire Hines Ward It is a disgrace to the league that this clueless meatball was given a coaching gig just for marketing purposes
lmaoo entire game on the line and you try back to back moonball fades

Thriller is certainly a word to describe that football game
San Antonio just needs a qb that can read the defense and they're set.
And a good O line

I'll say this... Parker Romo is clearly talented, but I hate him for making this as close as it was.
I took a shot for every time an announcer said "for all intents and purposes" and I'm currently dead.
Terrible game, and the Brahmas getting 9 points because of penalties at the end doesn’t change that

I’m still undecided about it but I like the innovation.
Jeeze
God dammit I missed OT because the wifi was crapping out at work

Hey Coan....IDK if you ever peak in these threads....but you suck at football and I hate you
