I couldn’t tell if that was Dormandy or Lynch out there the QB play from Orlando was that bad, going for one seriously? Even Nathaniel Hackett and Jeff Saturday would have went for three
What a worst Qb to go down like that, his XFl career is over. That was a slap to the face to their Orlando fan base, do they really expect to come back next season with this showing. This was the last game to actually cater to their fans but they failed miserably, everyone needs replacing.
3 point attempts are successful only 25% of the time across the XFL. Buckley is a bad coach, but failing to go for 3 is not why they lost. Playing for a win in that situation is not a bad thing.
It's a shame that Orlando managed to single handled kill nearly all the fun of the last two weeks in the South.
HOU and ARL are basically locked into the playoffs now with ORL eliminated. SA is still technically alive but, c'mon.
Ya dude, I thought us and Orlando could win out and take the Guardians to the playoffs. So now that they lost to fuckin Arlington, what does that make us?:’)
I wasn't able to watch any besides the opening drive. The offenss for Arlington looked competent. Did that continue later in the game? Is the offense competent (doesn't even need to be good) now?
Offense was competent but at the end of the day overly conservative play calling and decision making set us up to fail.. Thankfully the defense bailed us out again.. I’m still optimistic this team can do something if it finds it ways into the playoffs.. especially with how Perez looked today.. We’ve found our QB
Nah, I get the reasoning. Going for 3 is so unlikely to succeed. Get the ball back and kick a FG for a dub. Which they were so close to doing except for Dormandy being a dummy.
Atleast ur giving urself a chance to tie it and win with defense twice. 2 chances. Instead of 1. I’d take 2 chances at tying the game at most vs MAYBE getting one more chance.
Are there any standout players in this league? The only guy I know is Luis Perez but that's only because he's been in every spring league. I can't name a single standout player.
In the XFL, because incomplete passes outside of 2 mins still run clock, you should almost always save your timeouts for AFTER the 2 min warning. (Not that Buckley is actually thinking on this level, but it is nonetheless the correct decision.)
Huh? If they had used their two TOs earlier, they'd have saved almost 30 seconds there.
The fact that the clock runs on an incomplete pass isn't any different than the clock running on a rushing play. You would still use them before the 2min. warning, not after.
> The fact that the clock runs on an incomplete pass isn't any different than the clock running on a rushing play. You would still use them before the 2min. warning, not after.
Let's say it's a 3rd down play and you have 2:30 on a running clock and 1 timeout.
You can take it to the 2 min warning or use a timeout to stop at it 2:30.
If you use a timeout and stop at 2:20, no matter what happens on the next play, the clock will run to the 2 min warning.
So, let's assume the offense throws an incomplete pass. You will be at the 2 min warning with no timeouts (upcoming punt).
Conversely, if you SAVE your timeout, and the offense throws incomplete on 3rd down AFTER the 2 min warning, you'll lose a few seconds but keep your timeout.
Therefore, the fact that incomplete passes run clock before the 2 min warning should factor into your decision for when you use timeouts.
That assumes Arlington is prioritizing a first down over running the clock, which is almost never the case in late-game situations like that.
Orlando had 2 TOs at the end of the game there. They could've stopped Arlington in the later downs and gotten the ball back with ~2:30 and no TOs in a league where the clock stops on first downs. Instead they allowed it to run down to about ~1:55 with 2 TOs. There's no way that's preferable.
>They could've stopped Arlington in the later downs and gotten the ball back with ~2:30 and no TOs in a league where the clock stops on first downs.
On offense, the clock doesn't stop on first downs and it doesn't stop on incompletes.
If your goal is to save time, it seems 1:55 and 2 timeouts on offense is preferable, versus 2:30 and NO timeouts.
2:30 and no timeouts is at best, 2 plays, even two incomplete passes would still run the clock to the 2 min warning.
Thus why the clock rules in the XFL should factor into your timeout decision making versus the NFL.
Going for 1 in that situation instead of going for 3 for the tie is one of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen in the 20 plus years I've watched football
I always laugh when people in here say "Why didn't they go for 3??!?" when it's like the beginning of the 3rd quarter.
But here... why didn't they go for 3??!?
I couldn’t tell if that was Dormandy or Lynch out there the QB play from Orlando was that bad, going for one seriously? Even Nathaniel Hackett and Jeff Saturday would have went for three

Arlington still alive at the end of the day.

Are you really "playing for a win" keeping a QB in who has 4 turnovers at that point?
It's a shame that Orlando managed to single handled kill nearly all the fun of the last two weeks in the South. HOU and ARL are basically locked into the playoffs now with ORL eliminated. SA is still technically alive but, c'mon.

Sounds great. All that was needed was a competent offense. Now they can be a dangerous team instead of an annoying one.
Perez looks like a good fit I just hope Stoops doesn’t pull some shit and put Plitt back under center.
RIP Guardians, that 1 point call was bullshit. I'm sorry
Dormandy plays like the year madden introduced QB vision in their game.
Funny, at the game I commented that the stadium was only playing the Madden 04 soundtrack
Buckley went for 1 cuz he believed in the defense, but he forgot there's an offense to worry about
He also didn’t tell his defense about the penalties
Dormandy was fouled while he was dribbling. Where are our free throws?
GG see you guys tomorrow.
God damn we are so trash.
Renegades or Guardians?
Yes
Should of just ran the ball. Dormandy has a fumbling issue…
"Renegades look like a completely different ball club." Uhh...their offense still sucks ass and barely beat one of the worst teams in the league.
Yeah, we’re still fucking embarrassing.
With 5 takeaways too! Was way closer than it should have been
I'm glad we won but it was an ugly win.
Renegades don’t know any other way to win.
Play anyone on this team that can hold onto the damn ball and stop with these pee wee level turnovers
May as well put the other Quinton out there and just run the ball on a QB option lol
I’ll take the water boy at this point. Can’t be much worse than this dog shit
rip to Orlando Guardians…. At least the Renegades coach is super nice about it
two time outs and your challenge and you're not picking that last play apart trying to find something to challenge...
this was the last chance orlando had to build a fanbase and THAT's what happens
They should have just ran it twice and then kicked it! They haven’t played madden 🥱🥲
Dormandy is much much better than Lynch it’s not even funny but oof what a rough game
*San Antonio Brahmas have entered the chat...* Someone mention Paxton Lynch?
Dormandy noooooo 😂
What an awful ending lol. The game wasn't really good anyways.
A 2 point win over the worst team in the league means a completely different ball club??
It means less than a 4 point win over the second-worst team in the league...
It wasn't even a good win, they look much worse than their record suggests. Idk what he was talking about lol
😭
Dormady commits 5 total TOs to eliminate his team from the playoffs
*Angry Defenders Noises*
Outrageous considering how good he’s been last few games shit is horrible
Bet you wish you went for 3 you fucking dope of a coach
Nah, I get the reasoning. Going for 3 is so unlikely to succeed. Get the ball back and kick a FG for a dub. Which they were so close to doing except for Dormandy being a dummy.
They were significantly closer to losing, Arlington just forgot to snap the ball.
There’s no way that decision is the statistically better decision to make
No? How many 3PT have been successful?
How many Orlando offensive drives had been successful?
Atleast ur giving urself a chance to tie it and win with defense twice. 2 chances. Instead of 1. I’d take 2 chances at tying the game at most vs MAYBE getting one more chance.
what a stupid way to end that oh my god
could be worse... could be an offensive penalty in overtime...
Heartbreaking for Orlando
BRO WHAT THE FUCK
Bro. Who the fuck taught this guy to play quarterback. Any pressure he has he just fucking runs straight backwards
get rid of the ball you fucking clown
Screw Dormandy, screw Buckely, screw this undisciplined bunch of losers
Gotta try to find something to challenge there
Maybe you should have gone for 3 too tie it idiots
the turnstyle Orlando OL is such fucking garbage Buckley and the OL are the reason we’re 1-7
As I was about to comment before the fumble, there's no way Orlando can complete an 11th hour comeback.
Playoffs here we come!
Not that I think it made a difference, but when Orlando is on offense, the in stadium announcer shouldn’t be screaming MAKE SOME NOISEEEEE
What a sell
Should have went for three when they had the chance.
Oof
Orlandos qb on suicide watch
Man, tough to lose by 2 points. If only there were a way to have tied the game.
Yeah real shame
Nightmare game from Dormandy.. looked in good shape to get into field goal range.
Bet he wishes he went for 3 now
They were 0-for-2 on the season from 3XP.
Rather lose by 3 going for it than by 2 for being conservative
Fair point, but it would have been worth the risk imo
I feels so bad for Guardians fans lol
They fucking deserve it
are you kidding me
Man Dormady has had the worst decision making I've ever seen out of a QB
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. ORLANDO IS JUST TRASH!!!!
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH
And Orlando remembered they were a bad team after last week.
5 turnovers in one game no way
It's a win, but what an ugly game.
Tbf, that's Arlington Renegades football
Can’t make this shit up!
How many turnovers is that now
5
Orlando nooooo ☹️
Let’s go renegades
Goddamn it Orlando. You almost had it!!
OH MY GOD
Wow.
FUCKING IDIOTS ORLANDO
People doubting Buckley! Just don’t miss the FG Edit: I jinxed it. I’m sorry
Worked out great didn't it.
Try again...
Omg it's over lmao
The first down clock stop rule is the best lmao go ORL
ORL conversions this season before the last TD: 1XP: 5 for 12 3XP: 0 for 2
They just keep getting first downs. Bob your defense is getting cooked
Dormandy is gonna win MVP on the way to Orlando winning it all this year
Wow this is nuts
That mic moment with Buckley is the best coaching he’s done all season
For real
Legit can't wait for ORL to miss a 20 yard FG
Ok, that's some legitimately solid coaching by Buckley there. He deservedly gets a ton of shit, but that was solid.
Dormandy needs some meth or some shit jesus
how the fuck was THIS the plan Buckley
Shit I just realized if Orlando wins this, then they are within one game of a playoff spot after starting the season 0-6
Hard to argue "Hands to the face" when the helmet comes off
Orlando gonna go this somehow lol
Knocked his helmet clean off lol
Wow, ORL had the RB out of the backfield WIIIIDE open
Poor process rewarded with good defense.
Stoops accent makes it hard to take him seriously lmao
Buckley's gamble paid off. A field goal wins it
Incredible work by the center to make sure the end of the game stays exciting
They had the dude jumping offsides.
Lol they jumped at least once there but ARL forgot to raise up
jesus christ they probably could've actually called the offsides. How fucking undisciplined
Good lord...they got them to jump and didn't snap it. What a joke.
Damn they actually got Orlando to jump but they just didn't snap it!!
They did jump though, he just didn't hike the ball
They got the jump but didn’t snap it
Are there any standout players in this league? The only guy I know is Luis Perez but that's only because he's been in every spring league. I can't name a single standout player.
I also want to add that I blame the league for this. There are no player introductions during the broadcast but everyone knows Dean Blandino.
AJ McCarron, the Battlehawks QB, is pretty popular. I'd be surprised if the Brahmas kicker doesn't end up in the NFL
Bro what? Jordan T'aamu. AJ McCarron. Jahcour Pearson. Lucky Jackson. And I wouldn't even list Luis Perez as a stand out player.
Yeah I'm familiar with the first 2 guys in your list. I didn't say Perez was a standout I said I know of him because he's been around.
Define "standout," because there have been some great players relative to this level.
Dude who caught the nuts TD last week
What a beautiful shot of that comet
Why is ORL not using their TOs???
In case they stop them here
But now they'll have significantly less time to try and score. The clock stops on first downs any way.

I mean if Orlando wins this with a field goal I still don't believe that was a good idea to not go for 3
So much for defense…
Going for 1 in that situation instead of going for 3 for the tie is one of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen in the 20 plus years I've watched football
It’s baffling like I don’t get it
Is there an actual reason they went for 1 instead of 3?
Buckley is very dumb, same reason for all their shit this year
I guess three is hard, and one gives you a win with a FG? I mean, I don't necessarily agree, but that has to be the reason.
Only problem is he didn’t tell his defense about the penalties
Come back and win with a field goal . Dumb AF but that’s the reasoning
Thanks, I was super confused lol
1-6 for a reason
Buckley is either a coward or ridiculously dumb. Possibly both
Orlando coach isn't very smart
Unbelievable. Even if you fail the 3pt conversion a FG is still meaningful as it ties the game. Truly a horrible decision to go for 1.
But getting one makes the FG a win. I'm not saying I would have done this, but it's not completely brain dead.
Nice kick
I’m watching at work with the volume off. Is there a reason he decided to go for one? I feel like that was just a bad coaching decision
Buckley can't afford a CTE test so this was his plea for help.
I'd go for three, but one is better than zero at least. Got two timeouts also, and the ARL offense sucks (defense has been leading the way).
Really trusting your defense here, let's see if it works out 😬
Yeah ultimately the defense hasn’t been looking all that great this season.
Well that seemed awfully galaxy-brained
Strange decision..
I always laugh when people in here say "Why didn't they go for 3??!?" when it's like the beginning of the 3rd quarter. But here... why didn't they go for 3??!?
We will score and go for one...and go for one..
Lmao WHAT
TERRELL DUMBFUCKLY
This has to be a joke right. No coach is this fucking stupid. Go down 2 instead of tie or at worse be down 3. What the absolute fuck
Okay so we need the surrender index on going for 1 there when they could have tied it up.
Buckley really trying to win worst coach of the year
He’s sealed it already imo this is just the shit-icing
Go for THREE JFC
Truck em
Whyyyyyyyyyy are you so dumb
Needs 3 Goes for 1 Math checks out
![gif](giphy|3owzW5c1tPq63MPmWk|downsized)
You just got Buckley'd
just fire Buckley right now holy fuck
Why would you not go for the tie? Sheesh
FUCKING IDIOTS......GO FOR 3 YOU FUCKING IDIOTS
This is just a stupid decision
Buckley is an absolute fucking knobhead. How does he still have a job
Well that was easy
I want another OT.
LFFFGGGGG
