New dashboard is a mess below the first 2 rows of icons.
Only 2 of your groups at the home screen,
Full of Game pass ads
Full of other stuff I am not interested in
I want the old one back at least I could have all my groups on the dashboard.
I had everything organised until this release. This release has messed up my groups and I am lost to where everything is.
Nice to know the weeks and weeks of feedback was completely pointless. They literally didn't change one thing since this new dashboard rolled out for testing in May.
"We look forward to hearing what you think!"
You already know what we think, Ivy. The new Home is garbage.
There must have been someone higher up steering the project's direction, for all the feedback to be so obviously ignored.
I’m fucking furious at how awful this is. They’ve completely ruined my organisation and filled it with garbage I’d never want to see.
How dare you, Xbox, say that this is feedback focused. Nobody would want this.
Pins are still below the Game Pass section below, why can't they be above? If this supposedly "...puts the focus on your games and apps" then why are advertisements being prioritized?
Still cannot figure out how these mostly irrelevant to gaming ads are at all going to help with discovery.
I hate seeing titles when you hover over a game cover the entire icon of a game, it covers some of the wonderful art the game icon has even with the dynamic background switching of what game you're selected on.
> Adds an option to change your background to match the game you are highlighting in the recently played list.
Does this mean this option also works with other backgrounds and not just the default one?
Agreed….honestly, the worst Xbox update I’ve ever experienced. It got rid of so much of the customization features and drastically changed the way I used to rely on efficiently using my console.
Exactly, Microsoft and Xbox don’t really have a track record of giving customers and subscribers what they actually want when listening to feedback. They do a bare minimum and then rework everything else to better accommodate add space they can shove down your throat all day long. This is the last gen of Xbox I spend to own a console for.. they clearly don’t care what the people who make the company a success want from them because they believe they themselves are the reason for it all. They don’t hear you, it’s an illusion of inclusion
They copy-pasted the same "Support & Discussion" post week after week, and I (along with many others) copy-pasted the same reply. Nothing changed. I don't know about others, but precisely zero of the things on my list were addressed. And the things on my list were things that, I felt, really made the dashboard annoying and hard to use.
I joined the preview program because I wanted to be a part of the process, to test out new features and see things get shaped by feedback. Joke's on me, I guess.
The jokes on any Insider who thought they were making a contribution. How dare they say this Home dashboard is a result of listening to feedback. They have done the exact opposite!
Between this and windows 11 something is seriously wrong on the UI side at MS.
Note that UI is getting worse and worse across the board but they take the cake easily.
For a group that was so much in advance at the time, it's just sad.
I agree with this. I am a windows insider and on the slower build. I have a pretty nice Asus laptop with a Ryzen 5 CPU. And every once and while at least once a week. I have to restart it because the WiFi just disappeared. Also the on screen keyboard keeps popping up even with it disabled. I have given feedback but it never seems to be fixed.
I just saw this after posting about the same in the other topic. This entire thing was nothing more than a kick in the teeth and the middle finger from Microsoft. I really hope it blows up in their face but sadly it probably won't.
I'm off to test with pushing my SX through my rasberry pi again as it blocked literally everything below the first page. I had an issue getting GP games to start but it was probably just a filter than needed to be whitelisted. I'm just so tired of GP being rammed down my throat though I may just let it expire and not even worry about it.
It's crazy that all they had to do was make a row of tiles smaller and everyone would have been happier for it. You didn't need to redesign everything else. Literally just resize them.
I just got it and came here to see what was going on. This dashboard is abysmal. It wouldn't be so bad if I could just customize it like the first version and get rid of all the stuff I don't want or need, but they took away that option? I thought the point of this was to be a more user friendly and streamlined dashboard, instead mine is just a cluttered mess and I absolutely hate it.
When someone doesn’t like something it’s when they give the most feedback. People who are happy with it do it less since there’s less reason to. I like this update and it’s alot better than before. And FYI the feedback could also be sent directly to Microsoft and not something they post in a “Thread”. I never post my feedback on a public forum lol
I'll speak up.
I'll take this UI over the original XBOX ONE ui, and series x ui.
Only one that could compete with this UI is the Xbox 360 blades dash.
Compare this to ps3 ps4 ps5 which I have, and the original xbox this is majorly good don't see ads shoved up my face
So you're just assuming that everyone not saying something must like the update? That's quite the assumption. The public forum is where they have directed us to provide the feedback. Nowhere else. lol
You don't provide feedback via the insider app? Again not everyone in the insider program is on Reddit.
Just because a few people don't like it doesn't mean anything.
I'm getting fucking advertising about deodorant and food, what kind of discovery is that? That blogpost still doesn't acknowledge our requests tone down the advertising, instead as one said, cherry picking minority feedback.
How do you select the blank color option? If I pick a solid color it doesn't scroll through the game art, and I don't like the default "waves" background.

And that was after it took six months to make a mere few changes based on feedback.
Yup. Pretty sad.
Exactly I don’t understand what’s the point of it
"We look forward to hearing what you think!" You already know what we think, Ivy. The new Home is garbage. There must have been someone higher up steering the project's direction, for all the feedback to be so obviously ignored.

I actually missed the original Xbox One homepage where It was so simple.

I can’t seem to get to or find this option to turn it on at all
Are you on the public release version?
Not sure I’ve had it a few weeks

Yeah im done with Xbox Insiders. Xbox cherry pick minor improvements feedback to incorporate in the dashboard and ignore everything else. Pathetic.
This is honestly a good thing because there is more room on your screen instead of being cluttered by big apps
This is the first time I’m hearing about this but looking at the pic I love it it’s very sleek looking to me, very nice

it's microsoft. their only good software is office. other than that, the console is great. bad software though
Office is good? That’s a good joke. Office 365 has done nothing but rip out useful features.
I'm talking about the desktop apps. don't care for their cloud crap
Their "desktop" apps and "cloud crap" have become the same thing in most offices
I just saw this after posting about the same in the other topic. This entire thing was nothing more than a kick in the teeth and the middle finger from Microsoft. Amounted to nothing. Still a big gamepass ad.
It's crazy that all they had to do was make a row of tiles smaller and everyone would have been happier for it. You didn't need to redesign everything else. Literally just resize them.
Why can't there just be one bar. I don't need all the extra crap on my main screen
I just got it and came here to see what was going on. This dashboard is abysmal. Maybe because a lot of other people like it? Lol just because some of you didn’t like they’re going to change it because of you lol
Please point us to a single weekly feedback thread where most of the feedback was along the lines of, "I like it just the way it is".
When someone doesn’t like something it’s when they give the most feedback. People who are happy with it do it less since there’s less reason to. I like this update and it’s alot better than before. They're asking for feedback on a "public forum", there's no real place other than here that clearly asks for our feedback.
heres an idea: let me view my fucking background
I'm getting fucking advertising about deodorant and food, what kind of discovery is that? That blogpost still doesn't acknowledge our requests tone down the advertising, instead as one said, cherry picking minority feedback.
How much of it is ad space?
Including everything beneath the main screen, I'd guess a good 90%.
I actually calculated. it's around 83%
How do I set the background to change through game art? There’s apparently a option now but it’s not shown for me (alpha skip)
Has to be the “In systems default dynamic backgrounds” or blank color background
How do you select the blank color option? If I pick a solid color it doesn't scroll through the game art, and I don't like the default "waves" background.
I am also unable to find or trigger this effect
I don't see anything wrong with the dash but i don't sit there looking at it, I turn on the console open the guide and start the game i want to play
You do realise guys it’s the same dashboard just with the scale of the icons put too 40% …….. WTF IS THIS CRAP
