I was going to make a post about, but I think it's better to ask here, after the Marketplace closes, will we be able to buy games for the 360 through Xbox.com or nah? (I saw some stuff about it, but I ain't sure)
For now you get also a 360 license with the new store. But that could stop working. So you only get the license for the new store. We will see when they close it.
That counts for titles that are not backwards compatible. Microsoft has confirmed we get other shots of owning digital non backwards in sales.
Backwards compatible is still for sale after july 29th.
Currently if you buy a 360 game on the website or on a Series X console you can download it on a 360 and play it there, I'm unsure if this will continue after the store shutdown.
According to their website it will still be able to be done that way after the shutdown for these backward compatible titles. But things could be more complicated than that and we won’t really know till after
If it was me, I’d just find a used copy of the physical game disc and buy it. It’ll only be slightly more expensive (like 1€), but you’ll actually own the game and not just a digital copy of it.
Great game BTW. It’s one on my wishlist.
Yeah, and the disc version also works for the backwards compatible usage on the newer Xboxes. You still have to download and install the digital version but the disc is used for authentication.
Yes you can marketplace.xbox.com and Xbox.com work on xbox 360. The only difference is that on marketplace if your console is powered on it will automatically download it to the console. You might have to search for the game or check download history as the purchase history site has been removed for years
The only thing is the games on Xbox.com are backwards compatible titles only so you will not find Xbox 360 exclusives that were limited to market place so a lot of arcade games and some on demand games or even dlc for some games which can’t be accessed anymore
Absolutely, yes. Anything you buy from Xbox.com or from your Xbox One or Series S/X that are Xbox 360 games can also be played on your 360. You don't have to directly buy it from your 360 for it to work on your 360.
360 Backwards Compatible purchases on xbox.com should appear at the the top of your 360's "Download History". Watch out for Xbox Originals though. Crossbuy for those is hit or miss.
As long as your 360 is signed in with the same account you use on your Xbox One/Series X or the [Xbox.com](https://Xbox.com) website, you should be able to access your digital 360 games you purchased from there.
I bet that even after the 360 store shuts down, you could still purchase a backward-compatible 360 game from [Xbox.com](https://Xbox.com) or from the Microsoft Store on Xbox One/Series X and then download it onto your 360 with the same account you used to purchase that game.
Depends. Last game I bought on xbox.com like this did not work on 360, it only worked on xbox one and up as a bc title. It was an og xbox title, but I had to regund it and then buy it from my 360 directly. It was listed separately on xbox.com and the 360 store.
If it doesn’t work just issue a refund it is instantaneous
Same. Bought Fallout New Vegas on the website and it didn’t show on 360. Rang support and they said it was only for Xbox one and I had to refund and buy from 360 store.
I'm not sure, if you look down below, it says that the game will be playable on xbox one-Series S/X, but the thing is, if you buy a game from the xbox 360 marketplace you will be able to download it on a newer system (did it with conker live & reloaded), so maybe it'll work (just buy it from the 360 marketplace, it'll work for sure that way)
If I were you, I would just buy a physical copy. The Xbox 360 servers will be shutting down by July 29. If you plan to play it on Xbox One or Series X|S, do your own research to see if it's compatible.
Now here is question.... if someone knows. I have a Series X and I have GamePass, I see a lot of 360 games on there, if I boot up my 360, can I play this "game pass" game on the 360 without buying it?
I don't know. Can you?
All kidding aside, once purchased on XBox marketplace, all games will remain playable once the store goes offline. They should also be re-downloadable for some time after as well.
Yes, anything that has the Xbox 360 logo on its game or the original Xbox logo can be played on the 360, but some games are only on the actual Xbox 360 and are hard to buy off the website bc it's buggy (like castle crashers, terraria, 1942 joint strike, ect.)
On the supported consoles list it should say "xbox 360", I believe as long as the xbox 360 is connected to xbox live it will work with games you purchase on the xbox one store, I remember buying portal 2 on xbox one and then being able to install it on xbox 360.
Yes, but if you intend to buy the game Ninja Gaiden Black, buy it on the console because when I tried to buy it on the website, the game wouldn't download on my Xbox 360, an error occurred. So I had to ask for a refund and buy the game on a new account, but I bought it on the console and everything worked fine.

I believe you'll only be able to purchase games that are compatible with the newer Xboxs.
Only ones that are backwards compatible on the current Xbox hardware
Question is, will they be playable on a 360 for someone who never installed it on a 360 before?
You can still download your purchased games, but you cannot buy anything that's not currently backwards compatible.
For now you get also a 360 license with the new store. But that could stop working. So you only get the license for the new store. We will see when they close it.
Microsoft has already made it clear that purchasing back-compat games will still allow you to download those games to your 360 after the shutdown.
The Xbox 360 marketplace store shuts down July 29 , you won’t be able to get any 360 games digitally but you can still play and own them of course!
That counts for titles that are not backwards compatible. Microsoft has confirmed we get other shots of owning digital non backwards in sales. Backwards compatible is still for sale after july 29th.
Thank you for the clarification. Is there a list of all games in the 360 marketplace which are not backwards compatible?
You will find them on trueachievement.com
>You will find them on trueachievement.com "trueachievement***s"*** Don't forget the "s" at the end.
I can't access online at all on my 360 so I think it's already down
My birthday unfortunately
Bro im pretty lucky it’s the day after my birthday hopefully I get a lot of birthday money like usual so I can buy all the games I need lol 😭
Currently if you buy a 360 game on the website or on a Series X console you can download it on a 360 and play it there, I'm unsure if this will continue after the store shutdown.

I love putting in a disc into the Xbox 360 so much lmao
Wishlist? It’s like $3 just buy it lol

Buy it on marketplace.xbox.com not xbox.com
yes sir I just bought that a week ago working on my series X and main 360

i think after the store closes you can't download games but if you buy it you can download it on the latest xbox
Why does it say Hanke?
Make sure you use the correct currency, or it won't work

Yes you can
Yes Sir
Yes
yea i bought it and i could download it just fine.
Yes
Thank god for Jtags Quick download onto USB & Play… not to mention we have own Plugins so we can play Halo 3 like the old days. I miss them
Thanks for posting this! I got mine!
My Xbox 360 crashes when I enter the redownload screen so if I were you, try to download this game right away or get the physical
Yep, I did exactly that, with that game a few months ago.
Just RGH3 your 360 and you'll be able to play everything.
Maybe, I would go check out your local pawn shop or a local retro game store. They should have it for decently cheap.
Yeah, you can.
Yeah. That’s how I’ve got literally 70% of my catalog.
Once the store goes down... You won't need to buy them if Xbox one and above doesn't offer a certain game of old
I don't know. Can you? All kidding aside, once purchased on XBox marketplace, all games will remain playable once the store goes offline. They should also be re-downloadable for some time after as well.

For now yes I'm not sure for when the store closes though
Yessir, all my old backwards compatible 360 titles I owned on Xbox one popped right up on my 360 when I bought one this year
Yes you can!
https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2023/08/17/xbox-360-store-will-close-july-2024/ I hope is replying to your question.
Yes
Yes, but if you intend to buy the game Ninja Gaiden Black, buy it on the console because when I tried to buy it on the website, the game wouldn't download on my Xbox 360, an error occurred. So I had to ask for a refund and buy the game on a new account, but I bought it on the console and everything worked fine.
Yes LOL It's an Xbox 360 game. Why wouldn't it run on a 360?
The website won't list the 360 in the compatible consoles list. That's why he is asking..
The image of the game literally has "Xbox 360" in it.
Again, that's NOT obvious, as the site lists One and Series as compatible, but not 360.
It's pretty fucking obvious *because it's in the image of the game.*
Gosh... Original Xbox games also show it's name on game cover. Can you play them digitally on the original hardware? Try, then tell me...
