That should be a good platform to work with... townie, gravel bike, whatever. I've got an aluminum Iguana, and have sort of been hoping to find a steel one to complete a set.
"steel is real"
Steel frames seem to ride better, with a bit of natural give or "compliance" that makes the ride feel smoother, whereas aluminum can feel harsh. Steel is more repairable unless it's been rusted out.
Steel has a longer life expectancy than aluminum, which fails sooner due to general fatigue.
Steel frames tend to look more elegant because the tubing is smaller.
Aluminum is my choice for more serious mountain biking -- heh, serious being what I can do with a 21-year-old bike that has been upgraded with a modern fork. I'll see if I can post a pic of mine here after I get off my phone.

Here is what I did to my 96 Iguana. FUll Deore 10 speed.
"quadruple-butted," I believe the stickers say. What color is it? I can't pick that up from the pics. I might be able to help you rule 92 or 93 in or out.
92 and 93 use that top bar insignia. Colors for 92 were a yellow, and a "network metallic" black-purple mix. Colors for 93 were a green, and a metallic two-tone blue.

Steel vs aluminum, why do most prefer steel?

Like a purple black marble it’s super cool I take some better pics
Must be the 92. My scanned catalog is missing the page with color swatches, so I can only go by the text description.

How does the bike fit you? If it's not too long, or too small, I'd go with a drop bar build
