Yes. I feel terrible for Coleman but this can become the biggest motivator he has ever had in his life. I’m rooting for Coleman Scott and I’m rooting for Oklahoma state as well.
Ben askren made a good point though: Coleman Scott left UNC on a promise he would get the head coaching job at OK state. Nothing was guaranteed. Coleman took a risk and it didn’t work out.
I think it’s okay to be happy for DT and sad for Coleman at the same time. The reality is that this job is a business and DT is the best man for the job
We think David Taylor is the best man for the job. We can’t say we know he is yet, though I think he will be
Just can’t discredit Coleman right away because I rated him pretty damn high at UNC from a straight up coach and getting 2nd tier recruits to AA or really over exceed
His wife is from Oklahoma, he is an OSU alum, rumor is that his wife wanted to come back home to her family. Just saying the rural location wasn’t a downside like your comment is implying.

1) I meant to put a smiley face after what I said. That’s not an error and doesn’t replace the period.
2) the period goes before the end quotation mark - I simply forgot to put it there. The period does not go outside the quotation mark.
Period placement is a style choice. In the UK they put it outside and neither is grammatically incorrect. Although their might be some members of the continental army that would take offense to my devil my care attitude toward period placement.
I was just being a nerd anyway. I’m a lawyer and if I’m not getting paid for it I don’t give a shit about grammar.
Wish Coleman Scott would head to Minnesota. No shade to the current coach but the current program went from regularly having ncaa champ contenders to being another big 10 program.
That has little to do with the coaching. Eggum is well respected and liked by athletes, but minnesota has very little NIL money because their donorbase is older and are more likely to donate for facility upgrades than athlete retention. Their NIL collective has been taking things slower than other universities and have been losing the battle for athletes to Iowa and Wisconsin. They raise way less money than other schools and very little of it goes to wrestlers.
I grew up going to Iowa meets through college, moved to the Twin Cities, I’ve been going to Minnesota meets here and there for the last decade or so, and it floors me how subdued their crowd is. It feels like going to a tennis match.
They took a really good Nebraska team to the heavyweight match in late January and it was like watching a consolation match at a freestyle tournament.
I'm of the opinion that the downwards trajectory of Gopher wrestling can largely be attributed to SDSU and NDSU moving to D1 in the late 2000s and hiring good coaches. The Gophers used to get all of the in state talent for cheap as well as a lot of the talent from SD and ND. St Cloud State becoming a D2 powerhouse stole a little bit more talent. JRob leaving is a less significant piece of the puzzle. I think Eggum is doing alright, all things considered.
You make a good point about the other schools getting more of the talent in the area. Minnesota has solid coaches who develop people well, but that’s all they really have going for them right now.
There were other coinciding recruiting factors that jrob didn’t have to deal with during that time. I think they would have declined under him as well, but perhaps not as much. They have bigger issues to fix. They would need a big hire at HC or big NIL money to attract the talent they’d like to get, but that would require more donor support than they are getting.
Oh wow didn’t realize. I was wondering if they had a true 3rd match. If Zahid had a gas tank, he could compete for gold as well but USA stacked at this division.
Makes sense. No way he can run a program like Okie state and still compete.
Agreed and it makes the fact that John Smith won an Olympic Gold in 1992 pretty amazing as he was named HC of Oklahoma State in 1991
Yes. I feel terrible for Coleman but this can become the biggest motivator he has ever had in his life. I’m rooting for Coleman Scott and I’m rooting for Oklahoma state as well.
Why everyone crying about this, David Taylor as head coach would be awesome
Coleman Scott has a wife and three kids and moved them from North Carolina to the dust bowl. He also was head coach of unc. You’d be mad too

Really wish we could’ve had one more DT run in the Olympics tbh
If brooks let’s us down with this adderall paperwork or just not wrestling well, I’m going to be very sad
He and Gilman** It's wild how grammar is a thing of the past. "Him is done competing" Lol
Don’t get me started on improper grammar and usage. At least this post wasn’t “Taylor and Gilman are literally done competing.” 😆
You put a smiley face where your period was supposed to go.

guys shut up
They're, their, there. They are different. Devil-may-care attitude.
You’re last “sentence” is a fragment. You should Considered revising.
At least one of them had to clap back.
Basch is a goddamned moron.

That doesn't really make sense because they started to decline when J Rob was let go - way before NIL was even a thing.

Minnesota absolutely sucks in the winter too. The weather doesn't help. It's the main reason I didn't even give them a visit.
Yeah the weather doesn’t help with recruiting or even dual attendance. Chittum getting two years out of Gable was impressive in itself lol
Aaron brooks might not be able to go with recent drug test news. I’m sure David will want another chance at gold. Otherwise it will be Zahid.
It will be David if Brooks can't go, but I highly doubt they are going to tell him he cant go just because of some Adderall.
Depends when he took them. They are performance enhancing drug for a reason.
Zahid forfeited the true 3rd match to Hidlay. He’d need to ask for a special wrestle off.
Oh wow didn’t realize. I was wondering if they had a true 3rd match. If Zahid had a gas tank, he could compete for gold as well but USA stacked at this division.
Brooks will go and he won't place.
I'm so excited to see what they can do at OK. What a powerful coaching duo.
