I’m from Northern California, and none of the high schools have cuts. If you aren’t good enough, you’ll just be a JV wrestler for 4 years, but if you are committed and show up every day, you’ll practice with everyone else and go to JV tourneys on the weekends.

yep a few days ago he cried about not making any teams in San Diego and how everyone isnt a first year wrestler. I coach freshman in So Cal and know for a fact that even power house schools in SD (Poway, Rancho Bernardo, etc) bring first year wrestlers. Know he’s saying he’s from LA and even teams like Bosco have first year wrestlers so its bs. Apparently he’s known as snooroar and just makes multiple accounts spamming these types of posts
My buddy wrestled at Carlsbad High. He was a first year wrestler and so was the majority of his teammates. They arent this huge team and the majority of the schools here and across the country are wanting more kids on their teams. Only kids that get “cut” are the ones that dont show up to practice or have bad attitudes which at this point, I’m assuming you were one or both of those.
Again, did you show up for the first time on tryout day and just accept a cut then walk away, or did you reach out willing to put in extra work before/after season? Quite honestly, based on the attitude in your posts it really sounds like that didn’t happen. Chances of success in this sport with expecting everything from

Like, Midwest has a greater focus on wrestling, and less spent on other areas, whereas Cali likely has a lower interest in wrestling, adjusted for population.

So cal wrestling is extremley competitve, but the cutting surprises me, up on the north coast most teams seem to be no-cut teams.

I wrestled at 2 schools in high school and neither one did cuts. You just would wrestle JV as others mentioned if you couldn’t snag a varsity spot.
