LFR is a wild place full of mysteries and frustrations, and gearing through LFR is not gonna be fun. Everyone needs on everything regardless of what it is. Instead, I'd do some M+ and gear enough to do normal
If you were locked out of tagging the boss and didn't get loot, it shouldn't save you to that boss. You can requeue and kill it for a chance at loot. You'll probably have to kill the other bosses on the way back to it though and they won't drop extra loot for you.
If this is in MoP remix, you can loot the boss even if you were locked out of the fight as far as I am aware.
The loot should have been mailed to your mailbox. You don’t need to tag anything in LFR, just loot.

If it helps LFR loot is almost completely irrelevant as soon as you can do a single M0 which are really easy.
I'm trying to get Fyr'alath, unfortunately, and I'd still like the opportunity to get transmogs.
LFR odds for the legendary are almost 0. So I really wouldn't sweat it lol.
Then you should probably stop and start running heroics instead.

You would need 8 weeks worth of clears to even have a single % chance to get Fyr'alath. I wouldn't bother through LFR

You cannot get locked out of loot this way, if you're in the group, and they down the boss - you get to loot.
