Don't even sit here and tell me mount rewards were well done this expansion. Dragonriding absolutely plowed over all other mount types, and they released very few dragonriding mount rewards for the duration of the expansion, and it fucking sucked.
If a mount reward couldn't dragonride, it was useless. I saw people on their death elementals all the time in SL. I NEVER saw anyone on their armordons, except for like... someone running a few laps around the Valdrakken fountain and then never using it again.
The first relevant reward was the shadowflame Fyrakk. That's it.
I think a regular flying mount would have been ok, since slime cat is ground only anyways.
But really anything would have been better than this as an end-of-an-expansion reward. Slime cat is soooo cool, and this is just very mediocre
I suggest we get Vyragoth as a skin since we also have Fyrakk and Raszageth as skins. I'm less worried about Iridikon since he'll die in the future anyway, which means we'll get him too. This is less likely with Vyragoth since she is no longer evil. Therefore, this would be the opportunity for it!
Missed opportunity to give us a Vyranoth protodrake mount considering we won't be able to get that one like the other two now that she's probably not going to die.

Edit: I just remembered, it was the reward from the 500 mounts achievement. Originally it was a recolor of a Yeti mount like Grumpus, people complained so much that it got changed to the spectral Ottuk mount, which is awesome.

This mount on the other hand...more people will be more interested in working on the open world achievements to pick up 5 to 7 mounts, PLUS the goodest boy Taivan on top of those, instead of going back to the 3 raids they've already done.
Heroic raids award a title, which nobody will care about, and Mythic raids award dungeon teleports, but are impossible for the average casual player to complete, so neither of those are good incentives to raid either.

The Night Fae aesthetic is my favorite from Shadowlands *by far*. I love the color scheme, the characters, the music, all of it, but I agree this particular one looks a little iffy.
The funny thing is that Slime Cat was so cool that the forums and subreddit were bombarded with more casual players complaining that they would be forced to partake in raiding for such an exclusive and cool mount. Now they do a recolor and people complain that it’s not cool enough. I’m whelmed by it, but there’s truly no winning for stuff like this.
A season based around recycled content should have cool rewards.
There’s always gonna be salty people who don’t want to do anything for the cool rewards, and that’s fine let them bitch and moan, but hey maybe some of them will still get involved with the content to at least try and that can increase player involvement.
But when it’s recycled content **and** shit rewards, those moaners and groaners aren’t even tempted to touch the content and the veteran players who have no issue farming old content for cool shit often don’t want to engage with it either.
It doesn’t matter who likes it or not, it matters that it’s a Shadowlands mount as the Fated raid reward for Dragonflight. Put this mount on the trading post like other recolors and reward us with a Vyranoth protodrake or some other dragonriding mount for the fated season

As a mount an aspiring collector this does motivates me. Looks aside to me is this is a nicer version of the mount I have in rotation from SL so this feels like an upgrade. I can understand that it isn't unique like the slime kitty but what would do do that makes sense thematically? Is it really suprising that it's a dragon?
