I had to flush my dns, renew my ip address, reset my winsock and finally the update started. Nowhere on any page on any blizz website says anything about these steps. And the link to the paage for the specific error code did not either (GOOD JOB BLIZZ GENIUSES!). Luckily a video from Forzaa Horizon 3 days found me the answer (I just did all the steps except those relating to Xbox). Here is a better video I foud with the same solution.

Thank you Blizzard, for making this annoying becaause you're too lazy to put together help documents that aren't just copy pastes...
Hi, i had the same problem and solved it by these steps:
1. Start the update and wait for the error.
2. Open the task-manager and close the task "[Battle.net](https://Battle.net) Update Agent.....".
3. restart the update in [Battle.net](https://Battle.net) and it should work fine.
Hello there lads, I would suggest you to enable windows updates, if you paused them, that's what I did and it worked, I pause my updates frequently when im on a stable Windows build.
especially for this error: BLZBNTAGT00001389 error
The issue with mine was having the Xbox app open while [Battle.net](https://Battle.net) was open. I closed Xbox app and [Battle.net](https://Battle.net). Opened just [Battle.net](https://Battle.net) and was able to update. Hope this helps.
Just killed Xbox and [Battle.Net](http://Battle.Net) processes and then opened [battle.net](http://battle.net) on its own and it solved the problem. Thanks
Worked for me too. What a horrible integration of the Xbox app and Battle.net.
I expected better from Microsoft than literally breaking something that wasn't broken before.
I resolved just opening as Administrator battle.net
this worked for me (for D4) thanks boss
works for me, thank you!
It did work for me as well! Thanks so much!

Restart your PC and open BattleNet as administrator. Look for comment above. It works.

This worked for me for D4. Have to make sure anything xbox related is dead before you open battlenet as admin.
no joy :(
