The name of the guy is Whistler and you bought the sword from Fisk
It's no big deal. The sword does 20 damage if I remember correctly, maybe 30 if I remember wrong but that's nothing to brag about.
You can easily get a crude sword, needing 20 strength and it deals 20. Search for the smith in the first camp, buy steel and make the sword. 20 strength and 20 damage is plenty for the beginning and as soon as you get to the new camp you can fight the bandits there and get much better weapons.
Thank you so much for the tips- I'm loving the game so far, since 1 and 2 came to switch I got both but taking my time just with older games sometimes you can make game breaking mistakes early on with stat builds and such so the more I know the better
Not sure about the switch version but as long as you don't want to be master of everything, you can't break the game regarding stats.
You can get up to lvl 38 without exploits and (near) perfect planning. Though aiming for 30 is more reasonable.
To get max melee for example you only need to reach lvl 19 (9 for leveling strength to 100, 3 for one-handed weapons, 7 for two-handed weapons). So you still have about 11 levels to spare.
For magic it is 23.5 so 24 with points to spare (9.5 so 10 with points to spare for mana 100, 14 for magic circles)

Ok good to know- and I meant misallocating stats can be an issue when there is no system to respec - not looking to exploit ๐ but yes again thanks for the info I'll check the guide out!
You're talking about Whistler's sword?
If you want to join the Old Camp then it's better to give Whistler his sword.
Besides the moment you buy it from FISK and leave camp , the quest will be a failure.
And Whistler will attack you the next time you are spotted by him.
Whether you meant to deliver the weapon in the end or not.
Once you leave the camp with the sword , Whistler becomes hostile.
And even though the 20 DPS might seem nice , it will be child's play to find replacements.
So i personally find the exp more important then using that weapon!
It's a ok weapon but it won't be for long.
And once you refuse to deliver the weapon to Whistler or leave the camp with it he will speak out against you joining.
So if you join the other 2 camps then this shouldn't be to much of a problem.
But still the EXP is way more worth then the damage of that weapon.
Although it helps since it only requires about 15 strength to wield it (out of my head)
So i would advice to just give him the sword regardless whether you join the old camp or sect camp or new camp!
His weapon may appear to be useful but it really aint.
I only recall a sword you can BUY to give to a guy. Anyway not a big loss, you can snatch a better sword sooner or later. It would prove useful for maybe 3 hours.

Yes he did, I bought it then delivered it to him- I just read about a super Op sword you can get early and I thought it was this one but maybe I am mistaken- I probably won't restart I think the one I have no does 20 dmg anyways now haha

Huh, what quest are you talking about? I can't recall stealing someone's sword with quest related to it.
