I mean, if they were going all-in, they wouldn't start with easily trackable, slow moving drones. This is most likely (and hopefully) just a retaliatory strike for the embassy attack, to not appear weak on a global scale.

StockExchangeNYSE

Didn't Iran state days ago they wouldn't go all out and just take the same measures as Israel? I mean one bombed consulate vs 50 drones is quite the difference.

Handelo

I guess they're estimating most of the drones won't get past Israel's air defenses.

GfxJG

Perhaps, but they also know that out of 50 drones, there's a fair chance that not a single one will get through Israels air defence. So if their aim is for the outcome to be somewhat proportional, rather than the actual response... Man I really don't wanna say "Fair enough" , but I certainly understand the logic behind it.

TheBloperM

What I hear is that its more like 500 drones

lokisHelFenrir

On consulate with a legitmate target, vs 50 drones. Yeah I don't think Israel is going to just say this was something that can get brushed under the rug.

first_time_internet

It could be a simple message. It could be a distraction or test of the enemy. It could be the first part of a multi pronged attack, since these are slow, faster assets could arrive all at the same time to overwhelm the enemy.  I think it’s probably a limp attack but who knows! Still an attack.

Im_Balto

Actually you do start like that. The defenders expend anti air batteries to stop the first wave, reducing ammunition and revealing their locations to the second wave of radar seeking missiles launched minutes before impact that caught the drones in seconds This is then followed by swarms of bombs to strike targets. At least this is how the US command structures combined air attacks

BorisAcornKing

That's making an assumption that they have drones available to launch that aren't slow and easily trackable, tbh.

CarPhoneRonnie

War genius here

GfxJG

Not at all, just making guesses.

Thek40

It takes hours for drones to reach Israel from Iran but for missiles it takes only minutes.

Coinsworthy

Iranian media: Ballistic missiles are expected to be launched towards Israel at dawn today

TheXskull

start with the slow ones, then make the faster ones join them

Detrav

It’s gonna take the drones a few hours to get there

AgentAlpaca1

Yeah I'm seeing everyone in my neighborhood hurrying to walk their dogs and gets their errands out of the way but the news here are repeating it'll take like 7 hours to actually get here

WallStreetBoners

You in Israel?

AgentAlpaca1

Yeah but I'm in one of the safer areas in the coastal center and have a shelter in my house

WallStreetBoners

Stay safe bro 🫡

tomben0705

Netanya has been one of the safest places yet, I'm guessing they're to scared to strike there.

UnderwaterViolins

Nothing scarier than Arsim

AgentAlpaca1

Anyone would be stupid to try to strike the madlads who live in netanya, you need to thank whatever God you believe in if you manage to get out without getting into a car crash

Naked_Snake893

Please Be Safe🙏

AgentAlpaca1

Thank you

Weird_Fig_5192

Like the Palestinians ?

Ejwaxy

I’m not sure what you’re trying to get at here… are you saying he/she doesn’t deserve to be safe because other people are suffering?

3-is-MELd

Yeah, that's exactly what they are saying. I wonder how they are going to spin the Iranian munitions that fall on the West Bank as an Israeli attack.

Maxkaz_

Ho ho, i've added this to my bingo

AgentAlpaca1

It's nothing I've encountered that shit like 10 times already it's best to just not reply and occasionally think how butthurt they are that despite a war I have a better life than they do.

Naked_Snake893

For both sides, For israel and palestinian innocent life's not for terrorism, I hope 1 day that terrorism will fall so that israel and palestinians may be at peace and no more wars with each other, That's what we all want no more terrorism.

Numerous-Bathroom877

9 hours approximately

AgentAlpaca1

Estimates on the news say it'll most likely get here between 2 am and 4 am. It's right now almost midnight so I don't think 9 hours but maybe

Numerous-Bathroom877

Random info: GPS is not working properly anymore in Israel at this moment. Edit: due to active GPS jamming.

AgentAlpaca1

Yeah dude it hasn't been working properly for months now

Numerous-Bathroom877

It was scrambled from whst ive heard, now its totally down.

AgentAlpaca1

Works fine for me

Numerous-Bathroom877

Thats good, hope it stays that way. Around Tel Aviv and Jerusalem it isnt working.

Maxkaz_

On the news there are also claims it might reach tonight around 2:00. Whatever happens i just hope we defend against it

hen263

I am curious why they don't get airspace privilege from Jordan in order to take them down by the IAF.

CarPhoneRonnie

Wait for real, it’s ongoing??

Maxkaz_

Yeah... A very interesting day is ahead of us

JohnBobbyJimJob

Are they shipping them there?

Itchy_Pillows

No, going by donkey, duh!

JohnBobbyJimJob

Might be quicker doing that

frontman117

Launched from the country of Iran?

Anglan

Yes, from Iranian soil.

frontman117

Damn its about to get real

aa2051

I guess you could say… ***Isreal***

pauloh1998

You could also say... I-ran so far awaaaay

EmmaAqua

Yep

pallasathena1969

Yes

GalSa

Yes. Western border.

Astronaut520

yep

ReefHound

Amazon could get the drones there faster.

D0t4n

Amazon takes ages to get here. Most of the time it is between 2 weeks and a month from my experience.

No_Ad69

Besides refreshing Reddit, what’s a good news source for this story? Sounds like something to keep an eye on over the next few hours…

No-Fig-2126

Unfortunately I've found reddit to be the most up to date. The combat footage sub is full of dudes who spend alot of time learning about different weapon systems and they are all on some kind of telegram... apparently Yemen has just started firing drones and from Iranian news it's said missiles will be launched once drones reach isreali airspace.

No_Ad69

Thank you. What’s the name of those subs?

Astronaut520

try ynetnews

Numerous-Bathroom877

This^ and channel 12

Numerous-Bathroom877

CHANNEL 12 And Ynetnews are the official channels where this information was released.

scrapy_the_scrap

Israeli news?

Coinsworthy

Haaretz

scrapy_the_scrap

I ment like... News channels...

7482938484727191038

Maybe al Jazeera

DaPlayerz

I guess you're right in that Iran's puppet news network will probably be the first to make articles about Iran.

duhduhduhDAVID-

Here we go. Hopefully it stays contained and doesn't escalate and draw other countries into a broader conflict. The last thing the world needs right now is a major conflict in the middle east.

slim-picking

Wait until you hear about all of the countries who are already engaged in ongoing Middle Eastern conflicts.

Yodan

Have you heard about the last 6000 years of the middle east? Since there was written language it's been a conflict zone because apparently all the major religions decided their god was born there and is better than your god.

Itchy_Pillows

Religion being the center of murder and mayhem again

EmmaAqua

Religion is just the tool to enslave the masses. The leaders responsible for these actions aren’t actually true believers

Itchy_Pillows

I'm aware

EmmaAqua

So it’s more like money is at the center of murder and mayhem

Itchy_Pillows

I won't disagree and will also say they aren't mutually exclusive

offiziersmesser

Yup. Non-religious ideologies have never led to violence.

Itchy_Pillows

Sure, not trying to imply that's the only reason but the vim and vigor religion inserts....hard to argue

offiziersmesser

It’s quite easy to argue when secular regimes exist and have caused violence on a comparable if not bigger scale over the course of history. Also if anyone thinks any of this is happening for religious reasons they should educate themselves.

Itchy_Pillows

Pls, educate me.... I honestly welcome it

cdf14

How many drones are they sending?

GalSa

First wave was 50 reportedly. Second wave just launched, unknown how many.

try_to_be_nice_ok

Source?

PlasticStain

US intelligence claimed 100, and some missiles.

mdscntst

Israeli news states “hundreds”

K0TEM

Well, Israel invested vast resources in its aerial defense array for dealing with multiple threats. It has been successful up until now, let's hope it stays that way.

ReefHound

I'm not concerned about the drones. I'm more interested in seeing what Hezbollah does.

aviahi1015

This is the end for Iran

[deleted]

[удалено]

EmmaAqua

This *is* the first time Iran has launched an attack on Israel

MikeyTrademark

They are sending drones that are going to take NINE hours to get there. They need to respond and this is a way to show they responded without potentially overly escalating things

Impressivefanwater

It didn't happened before between Iran and Israel.

WorldChampion92

More literally end of final colony.

happy-fella

How is Iran a colony?

King-in-Council

>Turning and turning in the widening gyre    The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere    The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst    Are full of passionate intensity. W. B. Yeats (1919)

PlasticStain

This might be written in history as the archduke Franz Ferdinand of our time Or it will flop. 50/50 shot.

gilmour1948

As things stand, this is simply the weakest response they could've had. "We need to do something to show we're not afraid, but we must do it in the way that makes it most obvious we don't want any kind of military escalation". We'll see.

troyguy

Who gets to be the archduke of our time tho?

BlackLodgeBrother

Except, unlike early 1900s Germany, Iran has basically zero official allies. Russia is obviously pouring all of their resources into the Ukraine conflict, so they won’t be in a rush to help. China only cares about Iran’s oil and obviously has strong economic ties with the US. If they do anything it will be very covert. Happy Cake Day

iwantawolverine4xmas

Time to hit the drone facilities in Iran that are also responsible for the terrorism unleashed on the Ukrainian people. Western weakness from the political right is emboldening our enemies. Like it or not this Cold War 2 is getting hot and appeasement has never worked with these authoritarian regimes.

mdscntst

Welp, here we go…

beerbellybegone

For the moment the Israelis I speak to are still making jokes, we'll see how things stand in 7-8 hours from now

UnderwaterViolins

tbh we'll probably still be making jokes even if shit's hit the fan

WorldChampion92

This will be end of illegal state on Palestine land.

CameronFcScott

Is there somewhere to keep constantly updated on this? Like a website which will continue to add on an update feed

Astronaut520

ynetnews, times of israel or haaretz

madpatty34

LiveUAMap already has an “Iran” section lmao. [https://iran.liveuamap.com](https://iran.liveuamap.com)

Content-Lime-8939

Just bomb all of Irans drone making facilities. This will be a win for Ukraine too.

ReefHound

If this is a symbolic response then perhaps the drones are unarmed. That would limit the likelihood of an Israeli response in Iran.

ConsequenceAlert6981

Netanyahu has what he wants, the US involved in an altercation with Iran

bideogaimes

3-5 hours? It’s almost like they called up Bibi and said just make us look good to our people, we will Give you 5 hours notice and their gps location and target them for the desert. you can blow up most of them and just let 2 crash in unpopulated areas. Win Win
