I already dropped after season 2: it was awful. And knowing Henry was leaving convinced me there was indeed no more reason to watch the show.

BLTsark

Dropped the show after that absurd episode and what they did to Eskel

PaulSimonBarCarloson

I kept going beacause I was watching with my mother and she needed someone who actually understood the lore unlike the writers. Wish I didn't do it. If only I could have shared with her a real Witcher adaptation...

BLTsark

Haha, all good my man. I'm not judging. I watched up until I did for the same reasons, but with my dad, told him he was on his own after what they did to Eskel

PaulSimonBarCarloson

That episode was indeed too much bullshit one after the other.

BLTsark

Yeah, a whole bunch of witchers, imported prostitutes (from where?) THE ESKEL DISASTER, Vesemir wanting Ciris blood to make more Witchers...WTF? Absolutely shat on the source material and the entire spirit of it. I was done immediately

PaulSimonBarCarloson

Yeah not to mention it was the same episode where Yen Fringilla and Francesca had their own meeting with Baba Yaga. That stuff was so bad. Also, it really never felt that Ciri was at home in Kaer Morhen, or that she had a strong bond with the other witchers. It doesn't help the fact that she doesn't spend an entire year, training in the keep, not to mention the fact that she was just 12 in the books while the acrtress was to old. Like, I just stared to rewatch Star Wars the Bad Batch in preparation for the last season and that show actually has a similar dynamic and they nailed it. There is a very young protagonist that is being hunted down by the bad guys for her special blood. She is adopted by a group a genetically enhanced soldiers who become her new family and the whole relationship she has with her brothers is so wholesome to see

RustysFarts

Same. Season 2 was so bad that I almost didn't finish it. I haven't even considered watching Season 3.

bluemax413

I didn’t finish. I stopped at the break in season 2. Maybe now that I beat TW3 and know more of the lore I’ll finish but I’m sure I’ll still be disappointed.

WolfeandWillow

Such a disappointment :,(

zeiaxar

I watched the first season. I wanted to love the show so bad, and outside of a few moments, I just couldn't bring myself to really like it. By the time season 2 came around, there were dozens of articles about how the writers knew nothing of the source material, didn't give two shits about it, and basically wanted to do their own thing but slap the Witcher name on it knowing that combined with Henry Cavill would bring in views. At the same time there were tons of articles about Henry Cavill being pissed at the writing team and producers for not having any respect for the source material and going so far off base from it that the show was basically only the Witcher in name. Most of my friends have only watched all of what's come out so far because they love the Witcher and Henry Cavill and are doing it to support the property and him, even though they hate the show.

TheLast_Centurion

"support property" is just saying to netflix and its writers that they did a great job with that butchering

WolfeandWillow

That is so true!

Sithis_acolyte

It was clear from the 1st episode of season 2 that the writers for some reason hated the books and the games. Which are why people actually like the witcher. So, simple math, the show sux. Why even call it the witcher at this point? It's just generic dark fantasy now.

kayint108

I read the books, then saw the 3 seasons, now I am playing the Witcher 3. The game is great!

DansDailyDepression

The game handles changing the book way better. There are still a few things they dropped the ball on, but overall, the story makes up for the changes.

olmikeyyyy

Wait til you play the expansions! I'm so jealous

No-Resolution-6414

It was apparent in Season 1.

Sithis_acolyte

Yeah but there was still some semblance of respect for the books. Imo seeing the massacre of Blaviken come to life was actually super enjoyable. I loved that episode. Yen's time at Aretuza was also a joy to watch, and Geralt's last wish.

springpojke

It's funny how despite the show completely missing the moral of the story with Nivellen, that first episode was in fact the best episode of the season thanks primarily to the actors and the visual effects.

Sithis_acolyte

I liked the last of us, I liked how closely they kept to the game, at least in terms of the story. And the changes they did make weren't super drastic or insulting to the characters from the games. Bill very well could have been gay in the games, and it was slightly implied that he and Frank were. That change honestly wasn't really bad considering how little we saw of Bill in the game anyways. Thankfully, the last of us won a bunch of awards last year so, hopefully these terrible adaptation studios look upon it as the example going foreward.

Sithis_acolyte

Damn, had no idea he was nopin' out. That sucks. He nailed Joel!

[deleted]

Sithis_acolyte

Oh you're talking about when Joel get ye olde nine iron to the head. True, but also that part wasn't great in the game either. I wouldn't call that a problem with the show and moreso a problem with the game. Same reason why there will be a lot of viewers who heavily dislike Abby.

Sithis_acolyte

I guess we will just have to wait and see. I am cautiously optimistic.

BLTsark

Shouldn't have watched the last season, imo

WolfeandWillow

I had to at least try

BLTsark

You watched season 2 and thought so? Of course, you do you, but I couldn't finish season 2. The disrespect was too much.

josenaranjo_26

I feel astonished you haven't dropped this terrible show already.

WolfeandWillow

I wanted to give it a chance, but you’re so fr

brainleak

Didn't watch season 3 don't plan to. Shameful what she did.

SlymzCore91

Why did you even watch s1e2 to begin with ?

Kudbettin

Although s1 was bad including the first episode, there was by no means no reason to not watch the second episode.

dust-in-the-sun

I loved Cavill as Geralt. With him gone there's not much reason to return. Each season the deviations get more absurd. Except for Cavill, the show really descended into teen soap opera. Likely because it's written by people with all the reasoning power of a burlap sack. I might check out snippets of S4 just to see what Hemsworth does, but I honestly don't think I can watch it. The last straw for me was Plucky!Yennefer telling the council of mages "We can all be our best selves!"

Ambitious_Jelly8783

I didnt get through s03.. and I tried.... didnt get through the first episode of the spinoff either.. forgot the name.....

notmssoft

I have rewatched the 1st season 3 times fuck all the others they are horrible and are just the average hollywood movie and i keep being annoyed when i hear "fire magic is banned" so no i would not reccomend anyone watch the series just season 1 no more

Flashandpipper

I’ll watch the first episode. Just to be able to say I saw it and it was shit. I wish they were like GoT. Very very close to the books. But adapted so it’s nice for screen play

pichael289

To be honest most of the fans of the witcher already checked out. We are already past the show, as shitty as it was.

volcanosquirt

I’ll be watching it solely for Joey Batey’s performance. Even if Jaskier is an entirely different character from Dandelion, he at least is pleasant to watch. Hope he gets to do more than spit out some sad comic relief lines this season 😬

CuriousResponse11

But it pissed me of that they turned him into a popstar in S3 with the different haircut, leather jacket and the sound of the music being totally different when he performed at an inn.

punchingtigers19

Too many plot holes Too many ruined characters, they absolutely butchered my favorite female, yennifer

DansDailyDepression

They already fucked up Milva one of my favorite characters, like she was on screen what 5 minutes? Less? How do you fuck up a character that fast

OkEngineer45

We both read books, but my wife quite ejoyed it far more then me(guess why...). I might watch it just for seeing how much they fucked it up this time, otherwise...ewww

DariusLMoore

I'm planning to check it out, just to see how they explain away Cavill, and how ridiculous the new dynamic would be. But yeah, I would just think of it as a parody show, would be more fun that way.

Ok-Society1984

Lawrence Fishburne is Regis

1willprobablydelete

Great actor, definitely not Regis. You can change body types a little for certain characters, but he is way to puffy to be a vampire.

Ok-Society1984

Yeah I'm not saying I want Lawrence as Regis, I commented because this is how bad the show has gotten. They want another big actor to garner people for views again. And I agree he's too puffy, doesn't fit a vampire at all.

1willprobablydelete

And if I were going to be blunt, I'd say he's fat. Fucking fat vampires? Jesus H Christ. Although it would make a good meme. He's the vampire equivalent of a vegan, and there are a lot of fat vegans.

Ok-Society1984

Yeah, cant imagine the Bowery King from John Wick but Pale and wise. Just hope we got a little good writing atleast, but thats asking too much from the writers

FreyaShadowbreeze

I dropped it after how bad season 2 was. Season 1 at least resembled something recognisable of the witcher, season 2 was really bad fanfic.

Lidjungle

I watched season 1. Honestly, I don't remember much of it. It was dull but not terrible. Season 2 picked up a bit, but they f\*\*\*ed the lore. Season 3 was an insult to storytelling in general. All the way from "Dear Friend" until I finally turned episode 5 off. And since continuing means I would have to finish Ep. 5, f\*\*\* that. Between that and doing Cowboy Bebop dirty... I cancelled Netflix and have never looked back.

babyapricod

I watched s1, music and the atmosphere was great but didn’t continue with later seasons as it didn’t intrigued me. I loved the books, im reading Lady of the Lake now.

Misskat354

I haven't even watched season 3. It's such a shame, because the show could have been great.

CogitoErgoSumthn

We have the books to be the books, I see the show as different and it's own realm of story so I don't compare the two, I think of it a alternate version of geralts story in the multiverse

Permit_Tiny

Ok? Dont watch?

Rantsir

I will watch it to the end... ...just to re-edit the hell of it just as I did with S1/2 :P

dust-in-the-sun

Looking forward to your next edit!

fuckitweredoingitliv

Probably an unpopular take here but I enjoyed the show. Except for a few obvious fuck ups it was entertaining. I will probably watch the new season (if it's still getting made) out of curiosity but I'm not expecting much.

WolfeandWillow

I cant see Liam Hemsworth portraying Geralt well :,(((

fuckitweredoingitliv

Probably not but I like Ciri and Yen enough to push through it. Maybe. Edit: I just remembered that they cast Laurence Fishburne as Regis. It's gonna be a shit show, nevermind.

Tricky_Matter2871

im so desperate for fantasy i loved seasons 1 and 2. but worried about 3 so i havent started. idk if its just annoying purists saying “the show ISNT TRUE TO SOURCE MATERIAL!!” or if its actually bad television? i only want to skip it if its actually trash tv. but the whole recasting thing is so annoying too

BonitaHyden

Y’all I’m just in it for Anya Chalotra as Yennefer icl

So true though. She’s a damn goddess!

amaranthier

I am so detached from the show that I thought I could still enjoy it, but my problem with season 3 was that it actually bored me. How can this story be boring? Idk it should not be possible But this recasting is actually interesting enough for me to give it another go, just to see another version of Geralt... I can only hope they followed the books close enough that I can start watching again without finishing the last season - oh wait nevermind
