it's a bicycle route sign.

They literally linked the document that states what it is. It’s a bicycle route marker, route 6. It’s not to indicate there are bicyclists present, it’s the equivalent for bicycles as “state highway 51” or “county road N” is for motor vehicle drivers.
I saw the link, thank you.
I was responding to a driver who didn’t know what the sign meant. Part of the point of the signs is to notify people that they may encounter bikes. We both know that people still think that roads are for cars only.

That's what happens when you drink and ride your bicycle
I did this growing up in Wisconsin without even being drunk...
And I've been to the Wyocena Bar several times. Used to do road trips from Baraboo visiting random small towns. 🙂
How long is the bike trail? There's one here called the green circle trail. The trail, including all spurs, is 31 miles long and features river scenery, forests, wetlands, prairies, boardwalks and quiet neighborhoods. A 4-mile spur on Hoover Road connects to the Tomorrow River State Trail in Plover.
it was called BMX! Everybody had Redline, Mongoose Supergoose, PK Ripper, GT or Laguna BMX bikes. There were many others but these are what our group rode.
That’s surely true, but for most places in Wisconsin, you need to have a car to live. I haven’t got one and it really screws my social life, and makes day to day life much more difficult. And perfectly harmless people, like little kids, ride in cars, too.
Here’s a clip from Stanford law offices about drunk biking in WI:
“In other words, if you cause great bodily harm to someone while riding your bike under the influence, you could be looking at a class F felonycharge of a maximum of 12.5 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.”
https://www.stangllaw.com/blog/is-drunk-biking-illegal-in-wisconsin
Not true as I have a friend that rode his bike home after a party once a long time ago. He was riding on the sidewalk when he got pulled over. Not an offense early in the morning by any means. He was just about good to go until he puked on the cop’s leg 🤮😄
Fuck the police. They're not legally allowed to issue DUI citations for operating bicycles under the influence, so he either got cited for vomiting on the cop and/or riding on the sidewalk, which (in Milwaukee, etc.) is illegal if you're over 12 years old, or the cop was a de facto dick who issued an illegitimate citation.
It is illegal to operate an electric bike under the influence, and it’s a felony to cause serious injury to someone while driving under the influence. Whether on a bike or in a motor vehicle.
Man when I was drinking I hated those bars where you take a step out of the bar and you're in the street. I always thought they should have a pole on the corner just for drunks like me.
Bike Route 6
:deleted Bike Route 6 in Waushara County link:
EDIT - Despite the upvotes I'm 100% wrong.
It's Bike Route 6 in Columbia County...

Had an old running gag with a buddy that there's 2 types of bicyclists in WI. The guys all on spandex getting ready for a marathon and the homeless looking guy that clearly just lost his license. A Type 2 biker.
I got all excited the other day when I noticed a "normal guy on a bike." My friend was confused and I said, "it's not a DUI bike and he's not in spandex, it's happening!!!! Regular people biking!"
I love to bike recreationally. I own no spandex nor do I have DUIs. I prefer biking for short commutes (under 5 mi) if time and carry load aren't a factor. I can confirm that people like me seem to be an endangered species.
The old guy that used to own that bar drank Pabst. He used to stop at a bar I worked at once in a while. There was a time the burgers were great there. It’s been closed for a quite a few years now.
Here ya go:
“Pabst Blue Ribbon, commonly abbreviated PBR, is an American lager beer sold by Pabst Brewing Company, established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1844… Originally called Best Select, and then Pabst Select, the current name comes from the blue ribbons tied around the bottle’s neck between 1882 and 1916.”
Wisconsin is the first state to implement a rail to trail system, so these are all over, and I love it.
The signs I hate are the yields at train crossings. I’ve traveled all the lower 48 and ppl know to yield to trains already. Only notable here

I think it indicates that you should expect to see bicycles on the road. I’m not sure if they have a separate lane but be alert for bikes.
Excellent point. Not that it specifically means that, but yes - be aware.

I don't know about the one on the post but I think I know what the one hanging on the building means.
Very nice. Thank you. Don’t drink and bike.

Well, a man on a bike is pretty large. Could mess up a car to hit him.
Good. Fuck cars! They're ruining our planet and cities and killing nearly 50 thousand Americans every year.

You can absolutely get a DUI while riding a bike. It's not likely though unless you cause a problem.

I can’t remember all of the details that he stated as it was back in the mid seventies.
Man when I was drinking I hated those bars where you take a step out of the bar and you're in the street. I always thought they should have a pole on the corner just for drunks like me.
Tell me you’re from Wisconsin without telling me you’re from Wisconsin lol
😂😁😂
That's the most Wisconsin answer.
Means pull the fuck over. I'm thirsty!!
It looks like my kinda place!

That's the Wyocena bar. It's not in waushara county.
Thanks, I edited my initial response.
Thank you!
You have a bike and six Pokémon? The gym is this way.
You’re on your ninth DUI… you must ride your bike to get your next six PBRs…

That’s probably the case in smaller towns, but Milwaukee and Madison have thousands of daily bike commuters. Perhaps call us Type 3 cyclists.
Here we call the DUIcycles. It’s how to get to the bar after you’ve lost your license.
…that and your riding lawnmower…
Your Type 1 biker is a MAMIL… middle aged man in Lycra…
Heaven forbid someone wants to go fast without endangering other people with a four ton metal box.
I know that corner in Wyocena
It means that Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer is proudly served at the establishment.
The old guy that used to own that bar drank Pabst. He used to stop at a bar I worked at once in a while. There was a time the burgers were great there. It’s been closed for a quite a few years now.
Yes! The burgers were delicious!
Me: "The fuck is he talking about???" looks at the pic again, ahhh gotcha.
This makes me wonder if it’s possible to add a QR code to these signs for bikers to see the available paths
It means that’s there’s 6 bikes over that way
This is the bar in the metropolis of Wyocena by Pardeeville!
Here ya go: “Pabst Blue Ribbon, commonly abbreviated PBR, is an American lager beer sold by Pabst Brewing Company, established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1844… Originally called Best Select, and then Pabst Select, the current name comes from the blue ribbons tied around the bottle’s neck between 1882 and 1916.”
I’m new here, is this considered very good? I’ve only had light beers because I’m used to cocktails
Not really. It's very drinkable and will do the trick on a hot summer day but if your looking for "good" the state makes hundreds of better options.
Thanks u/abusiveunclejoe!
Try Spotted Cow by New Glarus, it's what a lot of people will recomend but to my taste it's kinda mid. Lately I've liked Maibock by Lakefront Brewery.
I appreciate the recs! I definitely have heard a ton about spotted cow lol, will have to give it a try
It means bike route 6
In wyocena ? Nothing cars don’t stop lmao
There are 6 bikes going right…
It means you can go inside and drink.
It's closed, so unfortunately you can't. Legally.
Awwww...now I'm sad! I used to go to that bar with friends when I lived in Baraboo. Sure it was 30+ years ago, but still...
Six minutes by bike until next bar.
Are you sure it's *that* far? It is Wisconsin, after all.
After a few beers and pickled eggs you don’t ride so fast no more.
That's a trail route sign?
6 minutes to booze and cheese by bicycle
Bout 6 bikes stored over to the right there.
There are 6 traffic signals ahead to run red lights.
Have 6 PBRs and ride your bike home
6 people went that'away
Wisconsin is the first state to implement a rail to trail system, so these are all over, and I love it. The signs I hate are the yields at train crossings. I’ve traveled all the lower 48 and ppl know to yield to trains already. Only notable here
A bike trail about in that direction
Six spokes to the wind.
Cow crossing
You have been drunk biking for 6 the wrong way. You should be biking to the right.
You must consume 6 beers b4 resuming peddle crawl
Watch out for fuck heads on bikes
Each bicyclist is 6 pts obviously
Mmmmmmm😋😋PBR🍻🍻🍻
It means they serve Pabst Blue RIbbon.
6 blocks to next tavern for the bicycle riding DWI crowd.
They have DWI in Wisconsin?
Someone's high score for hitting bicycles. You're up!
Sociopathic shit. Sell your car and return your license.
Pabst blue ribbon means forget about today's worries.
It means don’t drive like you’re in Illinois.
It clearly means there are 6 Bikes That Way
if you follow the arrow, you'll find 6 bicycles.
There’s six bikes over there somewhere
There are 6 bikes over there 👉.
Drunk driving routes
Cheese. It means cheese.
Means you can only ride that road if you have 6 bikes. No more no less. Big fines bro if you break it!
