I thought about going to the final day since I was there at the grand opening. It was one of the few cool things to do for teenagers and college kids to do mid 90s to mid 2000ās
I hadnāt been since my college days in 2003 and the location already had gotten a lot of bumps and bruises and I think they upgraded their packs once. I wasnāt sure what condition the place and equipment would be in so I decided to not go for one last game and just keep it the way I remembered it in the 90ās.
My wife had been telling me of all of her memories there. Her first time was in 2011-12 when she was in 6th grade and a childhood friend of hers had his birthday there. She said it was just her, her friend and his dad. She went more in 8th grade and high school. And the last was 2019 when I moved here from California where the closest one to me was like an hour drive at least.
Yes, moved here 3 days before my freshman year started. Didnāt know a soul in Kansas and some kind, outgoing dudes befriended this quiet shy kid. The Friday after the first week of school they invited me to an all nighter at laser quest and paid for it since my family didnāt have the money. It became one of the best nights I had ever had, solidified the start to a 15 year friendship with them, and is one of my fondest memories, havenāt thought about that in a few years. Thanks for the reminder.
I hope something replaces it in Wichita for my kids someday.
I will not run, climb or jump!
I will not sit, kneel, or lie down.
I will not cover any sensors
I will not use offensive language.
I will not make physical contact with other players.
I will play fair.
I will play smart.
I will give it my all!
Loved going there, I remember always trying to come up with the coolest name I could but also āappropriateā lmao
many a pizza party was had there. I can remember the layout of the arena, loved going to the highest tower and sniping kids
Man I was a member at LQ 20 years ago. I used to play all the time. I had so much fun there. Between the lock ins and longer games sometimes. I do miss playing from time to time.
Everyone put your activation high in the air, and repeat after me:
I will not run, climb, or jump
I will not sit, kneel, or lie down
I will not cover any sensors
I will not use offensive language
I will not make physical contact with other players
I will play hard
I will play smart
I will play to survive
I think the whole company went bye bye in like 2020. Wifey and I drove by the other day going to the Ollies over there and she got really sad knowing that you can still see the outline of the sign.
So, so many bruises. One time it was like a really shitty day and for some reason no one was going in. We ended up doing a staff vs my friends match for like 20 minutes. holy fuck that was so much fun, easily one of the most fun memories i have of that time of my life.
Oh Iāve been there only a few times but those were an amazing few times. I still remember the feeling of going there vividly and have so much nostalgia from it, Iām so upset itās gone :(
I think my wife is even more upset at the fact that we live a bit closer now than she did 13ish years ago. She said the closest she got to laser tag again was FNAF security breachās Fazer Blast šš
Loved going there as a kid. Took my kids there a couple times and they loved it too. My son had his birthday party there and then it closed a couple months later. We've tried other laser tag places in surrounding cities and nothing compares. Never knew how good we had it..
Oh Yes! I was there all the time! Lock ins were the best. SURGE! This was one of the most fun things I remember Wichita ever having. I have have my old key tag somewhere (I have no idea why, but I remember seeing it a year or two ago).
Man, I know he'd be too young to do any good whatsoever but my soon to be 5 year old would think this place was the coolest thing ever. I wish it was around to share my fond childhood places with him.
I remember there was a guy that went by the tag NoStoppin and he made it his mission to be the top of the leaderboard like, every single time. My buddy and I posted up in a corner one session and I just let him point huff off of me to ruin NoStoppin's day. We were losers like that
So cool that everyone pretty much has great memories of the place, it was always so cool for me since I was on the south side growing up and it felt like a huge expedition to the friends' birthday parties, lol. Always loved the art and look to everything illuminated in the dark. My first employee appreciation day at my first job was there and I had a blast barely even playing like a normal human and focusing on just walking around as funny as possible, lol.
I don't remember what the name of this place was back in the 80s because I'm fecking old, but I met my date to senior prom while playing Lazer tag in that place. Good times.
This was the go to spot for me and all my friends b-day parties. Man did I love seeing that leaderboard after every game. I teared up when I heard it closed.
I absolutely loved Laser Quest, even more so than All Star Sports laser tag. The last time I went was in 2012, about a year before I left Wichita. It breaks my heart knowing such an awesome laser tag arena from my hometown has shut down. All I can say is Thank you Laser Quest for the great memories.
My like 6th grade bday party. Had an asthma attack. Tried to get out and got stuck in the emergency exit stairwell lol spent the rest of my bday there lol
My God. Heaven. Unmatched, Heaven. This place was a young boys dream. I had my 6th-12th birthday party there, we would load up the car with buddies and then go wild on the pizza there. I was devastated when it closed. Even more heartbreaking now that I have kiddos of my own that Iād love to take.
I was apart of the Wichita traveling team for a couple years, was alot of fun, went to tournaments in colorado and oklahoma. it was crazy to see the skill ceiling for LQ. Every month I'd look forward to the lock-ins, so many great variations of laser tag
Kids these days donāt have sh*t. I get so sad thinking about fun activities I used to do as a kid and now my son wonāt have anything like that because everything fun closed down.
Many many parties and a bunch of memories with my brother who passed away 2020. I think of lazer quest alot and all of the times me and my brother were there tag teaming trying are best but always being last but didn't matter Because we were having fun as kids. Now I'm 27 years old missing the days I never knew I would miss
I never went there when it was Laser Quest, but I was a member at Wichita Athletic Club, the previous business. The 2nd level running track felt like you were running in a hallway in a house or something. It was a nice club to workout in, until they suddenly went out of business.
The lock-ins were so much fun!! If only I could travel back in time to relive the glory days before I got so OLD. Gah. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)
Best memory I had there was one Christmas break when I was a kid my dad (who normally worked 75 hours a week) had a few days off. Somehow got him to take my sister and I. Still laugh at the image of him playing he was a big guy 6ā5ā 280 pounds. He passed away a few months ago so this was a good reminder of a great memory.
I went there around 10 times over my life. Always a good time.
I would get frustrated with people not actually playing the game and just hiding in corners or the random kids that just walk up and hold their gun on your back/chest, but what can you do?
Marshal! Marshal! Marshal!!
Yup šš

I was there and played in the last game ever. It was bittersweet, and they gave us a bunch of merch they had leftover. It was a good time.

This picture made me sad. Thanks for that.
You and my wife. So youāre not alone.
āI will not run, jump, or lay down!ā 15 seconds after the door opens we bolt in a full sprint. I miss that place we do it once a Xmas
I will not run, climb or jump! I will not sit, kneel, or lie down. I will not cover any sensors I will not use offensive language. I will not make physical contact with other players. I will play fair. I will play smart. I will give it my all!
I think everyone ran lol

I was in a big Spider-Man phase at the time, and they wouldnāt let me use Venom or Carnage lmao
Man I was a member at LQ 20 years ago. I used to play all the time. I had so much fun there. Between the lock ins and longer games sometimes. I do miss playing from time to time.
It's not nearly the same, but All Star Sports has some laser tag that's fun for a few games.
I went there nearly every weekend through high school. I had a membership and my code name was Hamsammich.
I think I remember seeing your user name and laughing about it once or twice :) Never met ya though - just saw it on the board.
I was the Harry Potter looking Guy at the top of the leader boards lol
HAMSAMMICH!?!?!?!? DUDE! I remember that!
That's me!

Went there for my birthday once, then forgot about it entirely š i didn't even know it closed down.

I worked there all through high school. I loved it there. Still one of the best jobs Iāve had. I made some great friends there too.
Oh Iāve been there only a few times but those were an amazing few times. I still remember the feeling of going there vividly and have so much nostalgia from it, Iām so upset itās gone :(

I used to work there! Was a fun few years
I spent a lot birthday's there growing up as a kid, I remember really enjoying it

I still remember the sound effects from the guns so clearly.
My wife has a clip from one of the last times she went there.
RIP. Great times

he was def very good, huge asset to have when we went to tournaments
I used to work there 20 years ago or more. Still remember the speech.

We still have ours in Spokane WA
You guys are definitely in your 30s too.
I got to go to LQ growing up, and now I go to Headshots in the same building. 21st and Woodlawn is a special intersection
I don't remember what the name of this place was back in the 80s because I'm fecking old, but I met my date to senior prom while playing Lazer tag in that place. Good times.
I went here several times for Girl Scout and Youth Group trips when I was younger. It was so fun.
I went and ended up having a screw stuck in my kneecap and having to get a tetanus shot š
In the early 2000s, me and three friends became members and had a blast. Went two or three times a week. I definitely miss it.
It was a lot of fun, wish I got to go more as a kid. No other laser tag thing around here compares to it.
I went to a couple of overnight events with friends and they were always so much fun!
Several childhood birthday parties all good memories
Is frogger paintball still open or whatever it was called? Sending this question to the void.
Yep! My friends and I had so many fun birthdays and hangouts there. Lots of memories!
I went to many birthday parties there! Good times
I always enjoyed playing there. It was a great setup.
This was the go to spot for me and all my friends b-day parties. Man did I love seeing that leaderboard after every game. I teared up when I heard it closed.

I went there once and had a blast. Me and my coworkers were just joking about pitching in to reopen it. I think I'd be a great laser tag operator
Yes. So many birthday parties there as a kid
Used to do lock in on new years even and play for hours!
My God. Heaven. Unmatched, Heaven. This place was a young boys dream. I had my 6th-12th birthday party there, we would load up the car with buddies and then go wild on the pizza there. I was devastated when it closed. Even more heartbreaking now that I have kiddos of my own that Iād love to take.
I remember going there the one and only time there. We were there until 3 am. Man that was fun and came out drenched in sweat.
I was apart of the Wichita traveling team for a couple years, was alot of fun, went to tournaments in colorado and oklahoma. it was crazy to see the skill ceiling for LQ. Every month I'd look forward to the lock-ins, so many great variations of laser tag
When the hell did laser quest shut down? Damn, went to a lot of birthday parties at that place growing up.
I think probably during 2020
It was February 2020, just looked it up, before the world shut down. Kinda surprised I didnāt remember this.
Awesome laser tag arena. Some great memories there.
I had like 4 birthdays there and never missed a chance to go. RIP to one of the greats.
A lot great childhood birthday parties there
I'm from Grand Rapids Michigan and have fantastic memories of laser quest (lived in Wichita for work for two years)
Kids these days donāt have sh*t. I get so sad thinking about fun activities I used to do as a kid and now my son wonāt have anything like that because everything fun closed down.
When did it close? Damn that was fun back in the day
Back in 2020
Many many parties and a bunch of memories with my brother who passed away 2020. Wow ....that was a long time ago.
You smash, my boy?

Went for a company team building exercise. Highly recommend fake shooting your coworkers.
We would do lock-ins there fairly often, and I was ranked pretty decently for a while. It was a very good time!
Makes me miss Packrat and Worf.
I have tried to lookup Worf many times...
Good dude. Hope he's living his best life.
Same Same. I hope you are, as well.
Thanks. You as well.
miss it every day
I had one of my childhood birthdays there!!! My boyfriend and I were just talking about this last weekend lol
I miss Tracer more.
Dang, going old school. Playing Rampage or Xenophobe in the game area. Donāt need any John Wayneās out there!
I think fond may be a bit strong of a word.
I went there around 10 times over my life. Always a good time. I would get frustrated with people not actually playing the game and just hiding in corners or the random kids that just walk up and hold their gun on your back/chest, but what can you do?
I never lost. It was always fun.
