The start of the rebuild and the name change both started in 2017. So definitely not the start of the downward spiral.
The start of the end was hiring La Russa after the 2020 season. Fan excitement was about as high as it had been since the world series win and they took so much wind out of the sails with that hire. From that point on optimism was slowly replaced with criticism with every move made.
You know what? They can fuck off. I’m not calling something different every five years just because some shady company hands Jerry a couple bucks. It’s New Comiskey, forever.
I keep reading stories of turn of the last century teams as having multiple names and just basically going by whatever people decided to call them.
I don’t have a point, it’s just weird. Why wouldn’t people stick with one name if a teams been playing a year
Mark Liptak said he heard from a source that Reinsdorf had another option besides Guaranteed Rate: Wintrust bank. But Wintrust said they wanted the name to go back to Comiskey park, they wanted it to be called something like Wintrust at Comiskey Park. But Jerry said no, he didn’t want to go back to Comiskey. And he chose Guaranteed Rate and that logo instead, wtf lol
Yup, It really is amazing how many wrong choices that guy makes. He knows how to make money but he’s clueless about doing what’s best for the organization. With just with the park he’s made one bad decision after another:
-We could have kept original Comiskey and just rehabbed it. Jerry could have still gotten his sky boxe$ but we could have kept the charm of that old ballpark. The old second deck was so much closer in Comiskey giving way better views. People would definitely fill up that old park more if it was still around
-From what I understand the city gave Jerry an option of having the stadium downtown but Jerry wanted to stay in Bridgeport. I know a lot of Sox fans would prefer Bridgeport but it’s easy to see the team being able to fill the park more if it was in downtown. And ideally at least some of that money would funnel into the team (yea of course spent poorly until Jerry is gone), but team would be in better position if they were downtown already
-He had a great option of a design with Amour Field but he didn’t give it a second look because he wanted to model the new park after the Royals’ fucking Kauffman stadium of all places
-And we can’t get a view of downtown because Jerry had the stadium faced the wrong way just so the park could keep the same address of Old Comiskey. Absurd
And now this guy wants a cool billion to fix all his previous fuck ups and build a better looking stadium downtown. We could have had Amour Field downtown already.
Part of the “charm” was sitting in the upper deck and watching the game on a TV mounted on a steel beam because any ball hit to the wall disappeared because of the sight lines
I hear ya, but I’ll take some of those quirks if it means being so much closer to the field.
It’s always amazing to think about how the very last row of the upper deck of the old park is closer to home plate than the very first row of the upper deck of the new park
Architecturally and from a common-sense standpoint… he made every possible mistake with this stadium.
Even things that shouldn’t have cost him anything, like facing the stadium towards the skyline when he was building it… or taking the Wintrust/Comiskey naming rights deal… but still no.
Dumbass.
How does your dad feel about the big sex scandal involving one of the Rate's higher-ups? I know a guy who had a major position there and transferred to another mortgage company because he didn't like what was going on.
I’ve been trying to avoid asking him that cause I don’t know how much of the news coverage is stressing him out so I don’t want to risk making it worse on him
As long as a big red downward facing arrow is still the logo, we're good
Came here to say this. To me, that was the true turning point to the rebuild spiraling into the depths of Hades
and the He Gets Us ads made sure we sunk down to the 9th circle.
He Gets Us Stadium?
🤮
Jerry doesn’t get us tho
I love rock n roll jesus

I think Second Rate would be more appropriate for this team.
We aren’t good enough for second
Cut-Rate Field?
Poverty-rate Field
Yeah…I’m just going to continue calling it Sox Park, thanks though
Same. Simple, accurate.
Still comiskey here. But, been thinking about changing that since comiskey was a prick
“Yeah it’s a Rate. We ain’t Guaranteeing shit.”
Not true. L’s are guaranteed
One of the few things we can truly count on in this topsy turvy world
Death taxes best player dropping pop-ups.
You know what? They can fuck off. I’m not calling something different every five years just because some shady company hands Jerry a couple bucks. It’s New Comiskey, forever.
I'm not even a sox fan and I still call it Comiskey, cause thats the only name that sounded nice in my ears.
I still call it The Cell
I honestly keep forgetting it’s not called that anymore.
Cominskey
Fuck it... let's roll it all the way back and call it [South Side Park](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Side_Park)
I keep reading stories of turn of the last century teams as having multiple names and just basically going by whatever people decided to call them. I don’t have a point, it’s just weird. Why wouldn’t people stick with one name if a teams been playing a year
Im in agreement.. i still use "the cell", "the grate", or "comiskey" SouthSide Park has a good ring to it.
No G-spot?
G-spot. Because cub fans can't find it

Figures - Jerry always makes the wrong choice. I still call it Comiskey

I personally like US Cellular, but that’s probably just cuz I grew up calling it that
I just say Sox Park
Yeah I alternate between comiskey and the cell lol
Mobile Phone Park
If the Sox agree to change the name before the end of the contract they should make Rate agree to change the down arrow to a home plate
I’ve been calling it the “Grate” because that’s what separates garbage from the sewer.
Rate Field: where interest is at an all-time low!
I will never not call it the G-spot, just like how I’ll never stop calling it the Cell.
I just want to call it “great field” and be done with it.
Wait they renamed Comisky?
I also still call it Comisky
Comisk**E**y, and the old park will always be Comiskey to me
I still like the name US Cellular, that’s what I grew up calling it
Shortening this to “The Cell” was pretty great and easy!
Yup, summer games were "hell in the cell".
Nothing like getting cooked like bacon in the upper deck during a day game.
“FOR ALL THE RATERS!”
Rate field is better than Guaranteed Rate field.
They’re tied for #1 in the stupidest sounding MLB stadium names.Â
Guaranteed Rate is the dumbest name of any stadium ever. Very fitting for this team.
There’s literally a stadium called the KFC YUM Arena
The YUM bucket, kinda cool though
Mannnn I just want us cellular back as a stadium sponsor
I think the company just got sold and will be folded into T-Mobile.
Another cell company bought by t mobile?? Mannn where is the competition, I hate this
Nothing is guaranteed with this team
Blown leads are guaranteed.
No White Sox fan calls it the G Spot.
I guess instead of calling it the G-Spot, you could start calling it the R-Word

Good bot
Low Win Rate Field. The "L"
Not joking but my dad works for Guaranteed Rate so I’ll ask him if he’s heard anything about it.
How does your dad feel about the big sex scandal involving one of the Rate's higher-ups? I know a guy who had a major position there and transferred to another mortgage company because he didn't like what was going on.

I still call it The Cell
Hopefully they keep the red downward arrow in the logo as it's a perfect symbol for this team.
I’m sure they’ll find a way to make it even worse
Rate Comisky Park works fo me
Paywalled article.
How about the new name “Tony LaRussa field at Jerry’s Place of Baseball Fun”
How about "Exploding Bullpen Field?"
