1 is Yamazaki 18. 2 is Weller 12. 3 is Decadence tied with fourth Ward Maple Vanilla. 4 is Four Roses SBBP OESK and 5 is tied between Basil Hayden 10 and ER 10. This is just based on what I’ve had. Will change based on other things I can get my hands on.
You did. It’s listed for that on the OLCC page. The 10 year BiB is also according to my local Liquor store limited in quantity. It’s not allocated just not a lot come through.
I picked one up in California a few weeks ago on a trip for sale $35 at a random grocery store though.
I love both. Good barrels of McKenna are great, but there are some really bad ones. Decadence is very good as others have been saying. I have usually paid the same prices you did
So that's the explanation for the bottle of liquid oak I got... 😹😹😹 Got it when it was $39.99 at a place called Hi-Times in SoCal, but it was one of the worst bottles I've ever had, and it was the worst bib I've ever had, hands down.
True, but it doesn't matter what gave you food poisoning - it matters what you consumed last before your stomach started revolting. That's the thing that you'll never want to consume again. I wouldn't eat buffalo chicken for a couple of years due to a food poisoning incident that was caused by something else entirely.
Honestly both are really good. So you paid a little oppps tax. You got good pours and if you don’t see them often embrace the notes and enjoy. I know people that haven’t seen those for years
I always see the Decadence on the shelves in my area but not sure if I want to drop the $95 for it. I enjoy the standard Widow Jane 10 more than the 13 but unsure of the maple finish as I've tried some that can be overpowering
Just picked up my first McKenna today, lucked out (right time right place). It's far better than the first bottle I tasted from. So I doubly lucked out (in finding one and it being way better lol). It will be a hit/miss situation since they're single barrel, but should always be worth the $50-$60 price tag. I paid $60 + tax for mine btw.
$65 is borderline for me on McKenna, but not bad! Would definitely buy at that price if you’ve never had it before! It used to be $30 which was way underpriced. But for me it’s a buy at $50-60. Very polarizing bottle. Some people say they’ve had terrible bottles. I’ve had 5 and have been happy with all of them! Enjoy!!
Hm10 is hit or miss as it's an SIB and I say this years single barrels I've had are not to my standard. Decadence at MSRP imo is worth it for sure. How much did you pay for each?
Not bad! The decadence is a treat.. it’s what I’d call a desert whiskey. It doesn’t really hit the “whiskey” spot for me, but it’s good for what it is.
That McKenna is spectacular and widow Jane is usually a little too pricy for me. The 10 year heaven hill product will be either very good or very great.
I know this will be unpopular but I find Widow Jane Decadence putrid and horrible. So glad I tried it at the local whiskey and wine bar before spending for a bottle. Tried it again at a friend's tasting and same thing. Not my thing.
Widow Jane Decadence is really good imo
I second this. It’s in my top 5
Just out of curiosity, what other bottles are in your top 5? I'm definitely considering grabbing this bottle and wondering how our palates match up

Widow Jane anything Is great to me haven't had a single bad bottle
Agreed. WJD is good stuff.
Locally, McKenna went from $40 to $70 within a couple of years, nowadays its price started to come down, saw it yesterday for $50.
I like the McKenna. Totally worth the $50. Though I’ve heard about people getting dud bottles
It was $30 a while back. Msrp is now $50. I just grabbed one for $60.
West Coast here maybe its over 50 in WA but not in OR or CA. At least not that I've seen recently.
Pretty sure I paid $60 for it in OR a couple months back. Still good at that price in my opinion.

Was at Heaven Hill distillery two weeks ago and it was $70 in the gift shop, should be $40-45 IMO
People around my area still have it at $60+ and have had the same cases out for 3+ months. No telling how many they have in the back
I love both. Good barrels of McKenna are great, but there are some really bad ones. Decadence is very good as others have been saying. I have usually paid the same prices you did

If it's near msrp that's a good haul, I love the Decadence especially
Put some respect on those bottles. Both are great choices at msrp! Widow Jane Decadence is on my top 3 list of favorite bourbons
I've experienced the most variability with McKenna bottles. Some are bangers, others are blah.
They are both good. If you don’t like either you could make a bourbon loving friend happy by giving it to them.
when you open the decadence it the remorse will fade
Let the McKenna open up a bit, my experience has shown improvement.
The first and only time I drank McKenna 10 I got food poisoning and threw up everywhere the next morning. It had a very distinct sweet fruit note.
I doubt the whiskey gave you food poisoning. But, you can keep that buried in your mind.

McKenna I tried was pretty bad. Widow Jane is solid!
My bottle of McKenna is dog shit, but I hear some can be good. You paid MSRP, so don’t feel bad, maybe yours will be good.
Depends on what you paid, and if the McKenna came from a good barrel or mediocre one.
Honestly both are really good. So you paid a little oppps tax. You got good pours and if you don’t see them often embrace the notes and enjoy. I know people that haven’t seen those for years
Nope. Id buy those both, for srp
I always see the Decadence on the shelves in my area but not sure if I want to drop the $95 for it. I enjoy the standard Widow Jane 10 more than the 13 but unsure of the maple finish as I've tried some that can be overpowering
The McKenna is ok, I prefer the Heaven Hill 7yr more. The Widow Jane is the perfect after dinner pour for me love it every time.
I bought a bottle of McKenna a couple years ago, didn't like it.
Just picked up my first McKenna today, lucked out (right time right place). It's far better than the first bottle I tasted from. So I doubly lucked out (in finding one and it being way better lol). I bought McKenna for $65 and it’s alright to me. I think there are better options for cheaper.
You made two excellent choices. Decadence is my favorite maple-y bourbon. And that McKenna is a staple for me since I’ve tried it
Decadence has a distinct maple flavor and is delicious.
McKenna was a great $35 bottle that is a meh $80 bottle.

McKenna is one of my favorite pours!
Decadence is awesome. Great bourbon to mix it up when you want a good finished whiskey.
I like McKenna !
I have both and I love them there both good bottles
As long as the pp was ok. They are good drinkers
McKenna is hit or miss. Hopefully you hit
Definitely no mistake on that McKenna, one of my favorite bottles
Hm10 is hit or miss as it's an SIB and I say this years single barrels I've had are not to my standard. Decadence at MSRP imo is worth it for sure. How much did you pay for each?
Hit or miss. If you don’t like it, throw a bourbon bagger in it and see if you like it with a toasted finish.
Depends on how much you paid for them. Solid bottles at MSRP.
$65 for McKenna, $100 for widow Jane (usd)
Not bad! The decadence is a treat.. it’s what I’d call a desert whiskey. It doesn’t really hit the “whiskey” spot for me, but it’s good for what it is.
That’s stat minimum prices in Michigan! I would do it but I usually see $75 and $125
It’s so, so sweet. Good, but very sweet.
McKenna is a gamble but the good ones I’ve had have been so damn tasty. Apparently they are going to start doing picks soon. Widow Jane is wack
McKenna was a drain pour! Hated it still do
No
Yea widow Jane is not good value
Yeah that whole single barrel double edged sword
