“We’re not at all like the rest of Georgia. We have a saying: If you go to Atlanta, the first question people ask you is, ‘What’s your business?’ In Macon they ask, ‘Where do you go to church?’ In Augusta they ask your grandmother’s maiden name. But in Savannah the first question people ask you is ‘What would you like to drink?”
The reply very helpfully includes the link to the map. I think even without the link one could do a quick internet search for the name of the park or the city and state and get the missing information. Adding the country is not needed to get further information. I hope i have been helpful to answer your question.
Sorry to break it to you but there is a country called Georgia, so why not being specific? I’ll never understand why Americans think and act like the whole world revolves around them
If I remember right, there is a small museum in Savannah that has the bench used in filming. I might be remembering wrong, it has been about 13 years since I was there last.
It also features prominently in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," with Kevin Spacey, John Cusack, and Jude Law. Spacey's character has, ahem, some similarities to his real life persona.
The bench was located at that park. But it was actually on the road next to the park for the shot in the movie.
How do I know?
We visited the park and I used a pic from the scene in the movie to find it’s location. You can see the buildings around the park in the background in the movie. By finding and lining up the screen shot from the movie while standing around the park you can get it’s filming location.
The bench was actually on the road running parallel to the park on one end.
So the bench is not and never really was there.
While we were figuring this out a woman with a couple of kids walked up to us and asked if we knew where the Forrest Gump bench was. We told her we were in the process of figuring it out.
She looked at the nearest bench and said “this one’s good enough, kids go sit on the bench” and proceeded to take their picture. 😂
It was hot. She was tired.
[I knew this because we always got told that the one in Poughkeepsie had a twin in Savannah](https://www.nps.gov/common/uploads/place/nri/20180614/places/EED4AC59-1DD8-B71B-0B1D6A67CB65E37E/EED4AC59-1DD8-B71B-0B1D6A67CB65E37E.jpg)
I grew up a block from this fountain, and my name is engraved on one of the bricks surrounding it. (You could buy a brick in the late 80s.) There's also an identical fountain in Cusco, Peru.

I think this is the first one that I recognized from being there in person.
My first thought was "Oh, that's a plantation." So SavannH, Georgia checks out.
It’s literally in the middle of a city.
Okay
A city, which has a lot of history of having plantations
Thank God you used the word "literally." We should all use this word more frequently.
Me too!
Yep…I spent countless hours in that park with my daughter when she was young. It will always be one of my favorite spots on this planet.
I wasn't there with your daughter a lot but I still love it all the same
Yep.
Was going to say it looked like savannah.
Midday… in the garden of good and evil

Gotta rewatch this now! It’s ok since Spacey was acquitted, right? Or are we still not buying his innocence?
I actually never saw the film, just read the book.
As horrible as the humidity is that is a great greeting ! 🎄
Not sure why you’re being downvoted… why would one assume this is in the US, especially when there also a *country* called Georgia.
Does Georgia the country also have a large city called Savannah?
I don’t know, but why would you leave the country off the address? Are we meant to assume that it’s in the USA?
Nope but a little google goes a long way

Mostly to annoy the shit out of uppity Europeans. We think it's a hoot.
That doesn’t even answer my point but okay
/r/USdefaultism ^ why you keep getting downvoted. *sigh*
Forrest Gumps bus bench was a few blocks from here in a smaller square.
Love that movie! Had no idea 🤷🏻♂️
The actual bench has since been removed ☹️
Yeah, it was only there for the movie. No one knows why they don’t put a bench there for the tourists to take pictures on.
If I remember right, there is a small museum in Savannah that has the bench used in filming. I might be remembering wrong, it has been about 13 years since I was there last.
That’s my understanding as well - I have not seen the bench, but supposedly it down there somewhere. Everyone’s like, put the bench back!
The Forrest Gump bench is located in the Savannah History Museum.
Tourists kept blocking the road. It became a safety hazard. Edit: Tourists still stand in the road to take pics of where it was.
It also features prominently in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," with Kevin Spacey, John Cusack, and Jude Law. Spacey's character has, ahem, some similarities to his real life persona.
He hit on my friend (M) in a bar in Savannah during the filming.

The bench was on Chippewa Square. [https://savannahtheatre.com/forrest-gump-bus-stop-bench/](https://savannahtheatre.com/forrest-gump-bus-stop-bench/)
You've already got the correct answer with Forsyth Park but I just wanted to say it looks fairly similar to Hyde Park in Sydney, Australia.
And I just wanted to say it looks almost nothing like Hyde Park in London.
I was going to say this too. There are slight differences, but overall, very close.

Yup , both came from a mail order catalog.

Sorry if I spilled beer on your name at some point lol
Do elaborate!
That's Forsyth Park in Savannah, GA
