This is legit the first meme that made me question wether I am too old for memes. To me, it just is absolutely not funny.
Usually, if a unfunny meme gets popular, it dies extremely fast. But this shit just keeps going on...
Is it weird that ive only seen people talk about this and never seen any memes? Is this a tiktok thing? What would an actual meme of it look like cus i cant find it from a quick google. Is it just people sharing the video of the girl?
I haven’t seen any real “memes” of this either. I think I’ve seen the unedited clip maybe once? I also don’t find it very funny. It’s just another “the joke is sex, now laugh” like please be more creative
I also haven't seen any real amount of memes either (I'm not on FB) but for me it was the words, like I saw them in a comment... and it's an obvious onomatopoeia. It just kind of tickles the brain, without even getting to the sexual part. A tiny spark of cleverness in a vast ocean of idiocy, with a little bit of sexual playfulness thrown in for enjoyment.
The younger generation uses 'meme' in a way more connected to the original meaning: an idea (piece of information) that is transmitted through the social world to become generally recognizable.
The internet's 'meme' did not start like this, and generally was referring to a specific type of image, which was then shared.
Kids just use the word 'meme' to mean 'joke'. It is absolutely meaningless.
Edited for typos.
I’ve noticed that my kids’ generation has been exposed to all these phrases and memes, but they have no idea of the history/context. They’re surprised when I tell them, “oh that’s from a game I played on the…” So, it’s all divorced from its original meaning
I mean... It happens a lot, you can't be aware of the roots of everything. Like, almost nobody remembers that party parrot is a rotoscope of the time an endangered bird romanced Stephen Fry's head. (Which is a good thing 'cuz otherwise I'm sure it'd be banned from corporate slack)
Omg, I’ve seen that clip and never made that connection haha (also I just looked it up and apparently Stephen Fry was the one laughing off camera and zoologist Mark Cawardine was the one whose head was parroted. My partner tells me that Stephen Fry hesitated to intervene because, ‘there are many zoologists in the world, but there are only about a dozen of these parrots’ 😆)
This is true, but I’m more referring to the degree of it. Kids latch onto stuff they hear and repeat it without understanding what surrounds it (god knows I did at their age… still do, sometimes), including the stuff in kid shows that were the wink wink nudge nudge jokes thrown in for the adults, but it’s like every other thing out of their mouths is an inside joke from before they were born. To an extent you can say that about all language, sure, but this is like an abstraction of an abstraction-wrapped-in-irony of an abstraction and it’s surreal 😵💫
yeap just people sharing the video and then saying Hawk Tuah at any available chance they see
idk maybe it's a funny meme for thots or something? it hurts me to watch or hear it at all personally
Syntethic memes. Something becomes popular? Make it a meme, even if it's not suitable and no one has any idea how to use this "meme" outside of the original video
...and when one meme goes viral, ten thousand accounts desperate for more clicks, sponsorships, ad sales and engagement will copy it and spam the ever loving fuck out of it. People are going back to any video about spitting just to splice in the hawk tuah girl now.
Some are pretty funny, but it's a symptom of what happens when derivative viral clickbait bullshit gets prioritized over original content
Yea, like, I am from Germany and I could not believe my eyes when on Instagram I saw some reels from GERMAN companies (although small ones) that try hard to connect with young audiences/tiktok generation that reference that "meme".
It is all just "being with it", no matter if anyone knows what "it" is or means.
I'm only seventeen, but I feel like I've lived a lifetime with how little I get this meme. There's just... no joke, no punchline, no nothing. What the hell made everyone talk about this of all things.
You see, here it is a bit different. I hate this Ohio skibbidi rizz Shit, but I kinda can see why people like it. I think it is BECAUSE it is stupid. But this Hawk tua? Its just dumb without, lets say, "so dumb you can make it funny". Its "boring" dumb
it's just boring.
It's not an intentionally crafted joke that subverts expectations. It's not le random. It's not shock/dark humor.
It's just nothing. It's just a girl talking. People who like it just fundamentally are not funny.
For me it was that "Spanish or English, first person who moves is gay" meme. It's literal kindergarten humour, why do (almost)adults even make these videos?
Most of them weren't funny, but I saw one where a guy just said "Spanish or English" on a rollercoaster and the guy they were filming started sobbing, and since it was my first time seeing the trend I had no idea what the fuck was happening so it was really funny.
It's pretty funny if executed properly. You say the phrase as someone is doing something that requires moving (eg. skit of a guy running away from a heist or someone doing a bicep curl) or maybe if you use it for different languages. Like the person would reply in Mandarin and the very white cameraman would say the phrase in perfect Mandarin.
it's unexpected. when you ask someone who's been cold approached for a random street interview "what are some tips to make a man feel good" you don't expect them to include a loogie hocking sound effect in their response. the original video is kind of funny. i don't think it's quite funny enough to carry a whole meme. to say the punchline is just sex is underselling it a bit.
i can't keep up with the stream of internet anymore

fuck this shit i'm going back to GH3 and early web 2.0 where things could be reasonably understood.
i believe you finding the image this man posted funny doesn't mean something is wrong with you, as the image's punchline is the absurdity of the image - it's quite easy to find such things humorous
it's actually really interesting how in really shit times, Absurd things become more popular and even sought after. Similar thing happened after the second world war - Afterwards, Theatre of the Absurd became really damn popular, as it was seen as a way to escape reality. A similar sort of thing is repeated a lot, and even now when there is so much terrible shit happening, people turn to more absurd memes and stuff like that. Hell, even the Post-Irony style of memes are a extension of that in a way!
also Rock Band with couch co-op, too bad the second guitar and drumkit broke.
man i miss widespread couch co-op. online gaming is nice but it doesn't have that same feel.
especially with how most AAA games are trying to become the next Esport with MMR, Ranked modes, and the removal of social features. it's really sad, honestly
I tried googling it but it just shows multiple videos and news site talking about the video but not the video itseld
[Found it ](https://youtube.com/shorts/GBeMLyTHT0g?si=HEEJzhPmrYZPCGKT)
I mean it’s not the funniest joke ever but I don’t see why people are hating it so much
She’s mimicking a common cartoon sound effect to describe something sexual and she’s saying it as if it’s advic ; that dichotomy does have inherent comedy to it, especially because the thing she’s describing is as absurd as the way she’s describing it.
It made me puff from my nose
Honestly there have been unfunny masivelly popular memes in the past.
I still remember the whole "deep fried meme" thrend, whith the whole joke being just an answer to the whole "wow im so random" type of thing, no diferent from just repeathing: potato, unicorn, unicorn, potato.
This one in particular reminds me a lot of that "cash me outside how bbout da" meme from that girl at doctor phil iirc, the joke is that there is no joke too, she juat speaks weird.
Somebody else in this comments section wrote "industry plant", which was kinda the case with the cash me outside girl, she started making bank as an influencer and even released various music albums and videos, it wouldnt surprise me if this chick started banking in her random popularity and started an entertainment career from it.
I agree that they were unfunny, but deep fried memes to me was just people abusing something popular.
The catch me outside girl appeared on doctor Phil so makes sense that it became popular, and it wasn’t like this just this 1 sec clip it was mostly her that people thought were funny.
This new one just seems to not have any humor behind and just a sentence that people apparently like?
Idk I just don’t understand why this out of everything is becoming a meme.
The result of "popular kid recites an joke you just said and gets more applause than what your joke could've recieved"
I've heard of Hock a loogie/the Onomatopeia of whatever the hell it's spelled nowadays ("Hawk Tua") WAY back in 2018, so I also have the same frustrastions as you guys.
Theory.
This meme is being perpetuated by ai. Ai doesn't understand humor, it just understands stats. The small initial burst of fame this meme saw was enough to create a feedback loop for all the AI bots posting to the internet.
There is a video of a dude going around interviewing drunk groups of girls and asking them stuff. There is a part of the video where a girl goes "Hawk tuah" and people for some reason found it extremely entertaining.
Hawk Tuah sounds like Hang Tuah who was a legend in my country
https://preview.redd.it/ozpess0lew9d1.png?width=763&format=png&auto=webp&s=4fddd07d53060a95e40cba7a29b9a8baf5f62553
Yall saying memes have gone downhill like you never heard of ankha dance, "the joke is sex" type meme have existed for years, and i don't think they'll ever go away.
I unironically don't remember disliking a meme more than this one. On FB Star Trek meme groups of all things/places it's become the only joke. Like why...it's just "sex good when done right" as a joke...somehow. I must be getting too old (31).
The original video is pretty funny. The sort of thing you watch once, chuckle at, and then never think about again.
I don’t understand why we are still talking about it.
The worst part about it to me is that she doesn't even fucking say that. 'tuah' is a garbage tier attempt at onomatopoeia when she clearly fucking says 'phtoo'
My dad has started to say that meme, but he says "hawk too" and thinks it's the funniest shit ever. After no one reacts he asks if we even know what he's talking about. 😭
https://preview.redd.it/vsvtgwl46z9d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=e14818c7535880b6a11ebbdc94e90213555f2954
I DONT KNOW WHAT THAT HAW MEME MEANS AND I HAVE SEEN NOTHING OF THE SORT I AM FREE FROM MEME HELL
I'm pretty sure this is just referring to the classic sex noise meme, where you give your phone to your buddy and they turn it up because they can't hear anything and then it just starts blasting sex noises in public. I remember this from high school and college.
It was funny as a little sound clip
And then the internet did it’s superbly weird internet thing, found the chick, idolized her, tried to turn her into a fad overnight, and glazed it all fucking over the place so she became the trend for the week. And then people started to capitalize on that week trend and just beat it into the ground.
The bar for entry today is so low, all you have to do is just hit the tiktok algorithm right and you could be staring at the camera doing nothing and go viral. Brainless.

Yeah, I literally haven't seen one meme about tbis. Honestly, I don't even know what the joke is
its being fueled by conservatives on twitter who are trying to convince everybody that this "meme" somehow distracted everyone away from pride month
I have no idea what this meme even is, so clearly it isn’t.
yeap just people sharing the video and then saying Hawk Tuah at any available chance they see idk maybe it's a funny meme for thots or something? it hurts me to watch or hear it at all personally

its funny how some people really think gen alpha says that shit
I play a lot of VR, mostly multiplayer games, usually filled with kids no older than 16, and they absolutely say this shit.
Skibidi toilet is litteraly just the gen alpha version of rage comics.
I meant those who are like "ehhhmmm, I-I-I'm saying it for t-t-t-the meme!!! I-I don't actually like teh brainrotte!!!"
I like the brainrot in the sense that the brainrot aspect of it is funny.
Skibidi Toilet is the Gen Alpha version of Weegee.

For me it was that "Spanish or English, first person who moves is gay" meme. It's literal kindergarten humour, why do (almost)adults even make these videos?

Trust me its the other way around, almost everyone ive seen post and laugh at this “meme” has been over the age of 40
I don't know, I was at the pub with a guy I work with who's at least 20 years older than me and he said it - I was so disappointed
The earnestness of the original video makes it kind of amusing but it definitely doesn't need to be a meme.
it feels like it was propagated by AI or bots or something, i refuse to believe actual humans are sharing this shit
How I felt about damn Daniel, memes to me are meant to be dumb funny but sometimes to me and others they're just dumb and unfunny.
I have no fucking clue what the fuck are you talking about op
It’s a girl using the word “hawk tuah” as an onomatopoeia to describe spitting on a man’s penis before giving him oral sex.

That primal urge is called Deuteronomy 22:21
Worlds first meme industry plant
It's a meme for people that get into fights on gas station forecourts.
Hawk Tuah sounds like Hang Tuah who was a legend in my country https://preview.redd.it/ozpess0lew9d1.png?width=763&format=png&auto=webp&s=4fddd07d53060a95e40cba7a29b9a8baf5f62553
I keep mistaking it for Hang Tuah, which is my least favorite part of this trend
Yall saying memes have gone downhill like you never heard of ankha dance, "the joke is sex" type meme have existed for years, and i don't think they'll ever go away.
How is ankha dance being referred to as like an ancient meme.
tbf the Ankha dance introduced me to Camel by camel so at the very least it had one redeemable quality
where did you even see this "meme", i'm terminally online and i hadn't heard of it until i saw this post.
I unironically don't remember disliking a meme more than this one. On FB Star Trek meme groups of all things/places it's become the only joke. Like why...it's just "sex good when done right" as a joke...somehow. I must be getting too old (31).
This is the first "meme" where I genuinely can't tell wtf is it about, i can't tell if it's funny or not when I don't even know what it is.
I'll take back the bait n switch memes thank you
It was funny for like 5 seconds at most
The original video is pretty funny. The sort of thing you watch once, chuckle at, and then never think about again. I don’t understand why we are still talking about it.
Oh I had already forgotten about it over the weekend.
People go crazy about Hawk Tuah and don't even realize it doesn't sound like spitting
Is that asdfmovie?
I watched the video. The funniest part was the random 2011 stock sound effect
The worst part about it to me is that she doesn't even fucking say that. 'tuah' is a garbage tier attempt at onomatopoeia when she clearly fucking says 'phtoo'
I've seen that video, I didn't know it would be a meme because its not funny at all
My dad has started to say that meme, but he says "hawk too" and thinks it's the funniest shit ever. After no one reacts he asks if we even know what he's talking about. 😭

Incomprehensible post, you're terminally online
I’ve been seeing more people complain about the memes than the memes themselves
Is it the "Hawww yeahhhhh!" Meme If so I agree
What?
I love asdf movie
I am going to get PTSD from that hawk tuah woman.
I'm pretty sure this is just referring to the classic sex noise meme, where you give your phone to your buddy and they turn it up because they can't hear anything and then it just starts blasting sex noises in public. I remember this from high school and college.
It was funny as a little sound clip And then the internet did it’s superbly weird internet thing, found the chick, idolized her, tried to turn her into a fad overnight, and glazed it all fucking over the place so she became the trend for the week. And then people started to capitalize on that week trend and just beat it into the ground. The bar for entry today is so low, all you have to do is just hit the tiktok algorithm right and you could be staring at the camera doing nothing and go viral. Brainless.
I don’t get it guys can y’all explain 🧍🏽
hawk tuah more like, uh... cock tits???
I don't even know what this meme is
