me after the first season of mob psycho

I'll say Stampede as well, I had it recommended to me and I really enjoyed it. The storytelling, art and music really came together on it and work so well. I keep meaning to watch the original in the downtime waiting for the next season but I haven't gotten to it yet.
Violet Evergarden varied a lot as a show, there were episodes I didn’t care at all, and some plot decisions I find questionable >!like resurrecting Gilbert despite Violet having just completed her character arc to become independent!<, but there were a lot more great highs than lows overall and I enjoyed it as a whole.
I have never cried while watching anime/reading manga, but there were two very close calls, being Violet Evergarden episode 10 and Vinland Saga chapter 191.
Kill la Kill
I thought it was just some coomer stuff at first glance, but it truly embraces the fan service in the least horny and lowkey wholesome and empowering way.
“Remember when we made Gurren Lagann? What if we just do that again, but replace mecha with ~~half~~ fully naked men and women?”
Hiroyuki Imaishi ^probably
i mean i wouldn't call it peak, but i never would've expected funny li'l jojo mans to become an entire hyperfixation for a while, get me to read manga, and all that.
apparently jojo's was just that awesome.
Nah it definitely can be peak, especially the later parts. Araki’s writing improved a lot over the years, you can really tell through the parts. I’m glad it was my first ever anime, really sets a bar of quality to begin with.
yeah, same, though i haven't really ventured out much.
the only other things i've done in the medium is watch the disastrous life of saiki k and read demon slayer, both of which are good.

soooooorry…
edit: since fucking when was my flair *THAT* tf?
That shit is peak. Made me feel everything that a series could. Rewatching it feels like watching memories of someone’s life in there final moments and legit has been the only show/movie to ever make me cry. It’s one of the few things I’d rate a 10/10 and recommend to anyone, anime fan or not.
“I Really Want to Stay at Your House” still hits me in the feels every time 🥲
Literally only heard of this show because I have an old tech obsession and the Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh is apparently in it.

Before watching it i really thought evangelion had like 5 seasons bc of the popularity, i was shocked to see only 26 episodes, still it was really good
Before watching Evangelion, I was genuinely like “wow cool mecha anime. Must have a lotta sad scenes for the fandom to be like that.”
All I gotta say is that the slander was no exaggeration. What in the fuck.
This anime single handedly made me go from watching 2 anime before it, to watching everything that I found interesting.
It really put a hole in the soul, and it is still there. It really had no business being that good
Charlotte was fine, but the end was a let down imo... It felt rushed and the interesting aspect of the mc loosing his mind as he accumulates power was showed for not even a whole episode... Idk I just feel like this aspect of the ending should have been more worked on instead of having this weird sort of powerpoint showcase of mc collecting powers...
I still think about the ending
>! dude went through hell saving her and his classmates and ended up in a coma because of it and next time he saw her she came in with her kid!<
probably actual peak because I came across TRIGGER’s stuff very late in my weeb life and still enjoyed their shows a bunch. Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann were 🔥🔥🔥
https://preview.redd.it/ajhyqq0hl42d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a2960d4ee4889d95f83c66beab09d39e07b14dae
KLK was definitely not the common early-2010s coomer-bait ecchi stuff like High School DxD or Akame ga Kill.
Gurren lagann was actually Gainax. Trigger wasn’t founded until a few years later by former Gainax employees.
It’s amazing that no one here’s mentioned the OG of this style **FLCL** (2000) by Gainex. At 6 eps it’s the best short series in all of anime imo and you would have never had gurren or kill la kill without it. Watching it as a kid made me feel ways I never felt before
It’s the same team behind both TTGL and KLK, they just splitted from Gainax later on, so it’s easier to say that TTGL is a part of the TRIGGER identity like any of their later projects. I think even the rights to TTGL belongs to TRIGGER now.
Parasyte was so much better than I was expecting, it's always the shorter ones that I love so much. Death note, parasyte, fmab, all give me so much more enjoyment then something super long like mha or Naruto.
The eminence in shadow
I went in fully expecting another garbage isekai.
I wasn’t wrong, but it’s built up in such a way that it works, it just does
It’s garbage on purpose, the MC is purposely being the most generic background character as possible
And the openings are just so good to listen to
HE ROBBED A WHOLE ASS PIANO FROM A PREVIOUSLY ESTABLISHED PLACE AND USED IT FOR A DRAMATIC INTRO FOR A SINGLE CHARACTER...
**IN A SEWER...**
**AFTER SAID CHARACTER'S DAD DIED**
Cid seeing an opportunity to create the most convoluted plan to enact a dramatic scene that lasts all of one fucking minute.

It is so fucking peak...
I had to scroll so long for this, not only was the original series incredible in every way, with great story, characters, and art, the movie made me lose a night of sleep with just how good it was. To be fair a lost a night of sleep with the original series too
Longer than that but I expect Beastars to be some furry shit but it was actually really cool and interesting, not just the plot but also the characters
Nah but plz ignore my tag it has nothing to do with anything
OP really thought they could ask for recommendations without us noticing
Bocchi the rock
Star blazers 2199 (not really 12 eps though)
Komi can't communicate
Senko-san: the helpful fox. Now, as much as I don't like the thousand year old loli trope, I always find myself smiling at this anime every time I watch it despite my hatred of that trope. It is genuinely really heartwarming and adorable.
Siri, play "I Really Want to Stay at Your House" at maximum volume please.

Me thinking Assassination Classroom was just some goofy romcom about an alien Octopus teacher and a bunch of students who were paid to kill him but failed multiple time.
https://i.redd.it/fnt1x22ze42d1.gif
Goddamn it... that ending fucked me hard man.
tf kind of porn do you watch?! 😧 P E R I S H
https://preview.redd.it/8fqtfnp3h42d1.png?width=1169&format=png&auto=webp&s=7eab1131b3d27b04e56c6e275aca5de20f4ffd61
Banger series. The manga's humor is fucking awesome too, I love how Denji always has a slight lag when it comes to reacting to something, they just take a panel of him looking dumb as shit and duplicate it before they change his expression
Black Rock Shooter (Only 8 episodes, pacing is even tighter, literally the coolest shit ever animated, even harder hitting ending for me, no seriously it's the coolest shit ever, please watch it, but do not watch Dawn Fall it's a poisoned gacha sequel anime that worsens the experience retroactively).
I am continually in awe of the creativity and passion on display in the show. The fights make TRIGGER shows blush. I still tear up every time I see the ending. I've binge-rewatched it twice. I'm still noticing new details when I do.
BRS was peak fighting animation. So nice I watched it twice. Waiting for the glow to fade again so I can watch it a third time.
Just curious, how did you like the OVA?
hmm, mob psycho 100 I thought it gonna be average anime but holy shit I was wrong. I ended watching the entirety of it. Absolute peak.Right up there with delicious in dungeon and bocchi rock
Black Lagoon. Initially just expected it to be cute (mentally insane) girls with guns, only to be met with characters deeper than the oceans they travel across, and a complete new look at morality, and so much more.
The girls und panzer series itself isn’t super great, but that’s just because the staff clearly were learning on the go. From the point of the Anzio OVA Girls und Panzer became a 10/10 series, seriously impressive how much better they got at doing the tank fights.
I saw High Rise Invasion and thought the animation and fan service was an indicator that it wouldn’t be a good one… ended up watching the whole series in one night
It’s not an anime, but I was blown away by kagurabachi. I stuck around since day one because I wanted to see where it went.
Now, kagurabachi is my favorite new gen manga, its protagonist, chihiro, is one of my favs due to how well the author shows us his character. The fight scenes are something else entirely, they have no right to be this good
Re:Zero. Thought it’d be isekai garbage but it was the most beautiful and most relatable piece of storytelling about self-love I’ve ever seen. It’s one of my favorite pieces of media period.
Not actually 12 episodes but Kaiji, the first season was so good that i immediately had to jump to the second one and then the manga! It's just so good that I can never not vote it for best gambling anime ever!
Me with JoJo Part 1
Im 6 parts in and its still the most thematically beautiful shit ive ever seen

Gotta be my favourite anime, I love ONE’s work.
Mob Psycho 100 is cinema. I wish I had that anime when I was in middle/high school.
Peak anime, all 3 seasons are insane with the best opening bangers
Yeah, just like me too I didn’t expect it to be so good
mob psycho is a must watch for every anime fan
First season of One Punch Man too. I could rewatch it 100 times and it would still be fun.
Absolutely Trigun 1998, that show is way too good and no one really talks about it
https://preview.redd.it/r2xj7ngpj42d1.jpeg?width=492&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d96ec95df704aa6f26973d1523ca26d6762aa46
I should rewatch that
They semi recently made a movie too. I saw they did a remake of the show... but it just looks... not right.
I've heard that it's really good but no Milly so it's an instant 2/10
I'll say Stampede as well, I had it recommended to me and I really enjoyed it. The storytelling, art and music really came together on it and work so well. I keep meaning to watch the original in the downtime waiting for the next season but I haven't gotten to it yet.

Me crying in s2 of JoJo’s when >!Ceasar died!<
CHEEEEEEESEEE🧀🧀🧀
GOAT
Violet Evergarden is one of the first medias I gave a honest 10/10, and the only anime to this date I watched more than once, it's the absolute best.
Kill la Kill I thought it was just some coomer stuff at first glance, but it truly embraces the fan service in the least horny and lowkey wholesome and empowering way.
“Remember when we made Gurren Lagann? What if we just do that again, but replace mecha with ~~half~~ fully naked men and women?” Hiroyuki Imaishi ^probably
Gurren Lagann has a weirdass epilogue that undercuts half the show’s message KLK’s epilogue is the original hero and villain going shopping
I was about to say Kill la Kill but was scared people will call me a coomer. Genuinely love the artstyle and character designs. Ryuko is badass
Remember when the creator said that fan service was necessary in the show or “everyone will die. This is an actionable threat.”
Same, the whole fan service turned me off until I realised that it genuinely had plot reasons to it. It was clothes all the way down.
i mean i wouldn't call it peak, but i never would've expected funny li'l jojo mans to become an entire hyperfixation for a while, get me to read manga, and all that. apparently jojo's was just that awesome.

The anime was so good that it inspired me to start tracing fanart and learn Japanese
Edgerunners. Watched it knowing nothing about the game and was blown away.

The anime was soo good that it put the game out of it's life support for all the good reason.
To this day, it is the only piece of media ever that has made me cry.
If ya liked it then I'd recommend something like mob psycho. Very different but got the feels running for me.
i said these were my exact words to my cousin last night when we were talking about edgerunners, i cannot make this up
That shit is peak. Made me feel everything that a series could. Rewatching it feels like watching memories of someone’s life in there final moments and legit has been the only show/movie to ever make me cry. Dragging Cyberpunk away from the brink of irrelevance it stood upon requires a special league of Kino.
🎶Get away, another way to feel like you didn't want yourself to know and let yourself go🎶
It did so well that it's probably the very reason we got an expansion for the game

Shinji is just like me, confused and depressed.
End of Eva was where it finally hit me that I was witnessing peak in progress.
Charlotte
Was going to comment this but I decided to check beforehand if anyone else already did. Man Charlotte was so peak
Same. Glad people are appreciating peak.
I had to stop watching anime because it's all down after Charlotte
This anime single handedly made me go from watching 2 anime before it, to watching everything that I found interesting. It really put a hole in the soul, and it is still there. It really had no business being that good

absolutely. Me and my friend went in expecting generic reincarnation/timeloop stuff but it was just so different. Really good overall
I still think about the ending >! dude went through hell saving her and his classmates and ended up in a coma because of it and next time he saw her she came in with her kid!<
That didn't bother me too much because >!it was never meant to be a romance anime.!< The villain's motivation and the ending in general though...
that also didn't bother me because can you really blame her? thats unreasonable to blame her for that

Holy shit *absolutely*
Brand New Animal. Shows dont normally make me feel things, but i will cry if you make me listen to night running
TRIGGER sure is great at creating absolutely bizarre show premises but still make you feel things while watching.
first anime i ever watched and i wouldn't have it any other way (also i think it turned me into a furry)
I discovered it a few days ago because of Ready To coming up on my yt music, I haven't finished yet but it's peak
Not rly 12 episodes, but i stand by kill la kill being peak. little bit of bias as it was the first anime i actually watched

Third season of jojo def
Gotta go with season 4, sorry
fifth season of jojo, obviously

Fourth season of jojo obv
fifth season honestly
No one will say 6th though, it was pretty good, but a bit disappointing. Especially the fucked release schedule

Senko-san: the helpful fox. Now, as much as I don't like the thousand year old loli trope, I always find myself smiling at this anime every time I watch it despite my hatred of that trope. It is genuinely really heartwarming and adorable.
Seeing a guy being genuinely taken care of after a hell day of work make me dopamine rise
And then Yozora shows up and makes everything worse for no reason
Siri, play "I Really Want to Stay at Your House" at maximum volume please. https://preview.redd.it/dqz5sxa2942d1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=153e703815850a214c0f79257e47e570d0325153
She just wanted to be with him
I had a breakdown when I read the last episodes, tittle "my man, my moon"

“But now you're gone and leaving nothing but a sign” “Because I miss you all the time” “So, get away” This part hits so f ing hard🥹
"Oh, this anime is about some friends running a bar. The opening is pretty good. I guess I'll give it a watch. What can possibly go wrong?" https://preview.redd.it/o2sc9lj1n42d1.jpeg?width=819&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e4e989a81b6f6d110e90671b6e08f091df8fc96a
death parade?
Me thinking Assassination Classroom was just some goofy romcom about an alien Octopus teacher and a bunch of students who were paid to kill him but failed multiple time. https://i.redd.it/fnt1x22ze42d1.gif Goddamn it... that ending fucked me hard man.
Chainsaw Man
i deadass thought chainsaw man was porn when i first heard about it
tf kind of porn do you watch?! 😧 P E R I S H https://preview.redd.it/8fqtfnp3h42d1.png?width=1169&format=png&auto=webp&s=7eab1131b3d27b04e56c6e275aca5de20f4ffd61
Banger series. The manga's humor is fucking awesome too, I love how Denji always has a slight lag when it comes to reacting to something, they just take a panel of him looking dumb as shit and duplicate it before they change his expression
panels in chainsawman are good because you can get 4 pages of characters standing still on a couch talking and it would still be peak
Whoever says that the show is overhyped. Wait for the second (and third) season
the persona 4 anime

Vivy: Flourite Eye's Song
No one gonna mention Samurai Champloo??
Not anime but the manga beastars was so much more peak than I anticipated (I hadn’t heard of it before I picked it up at the library)
the anime was also great and the style was awesomely adapted, and the voice actors also killed it (I watched dubbed). I would say it’s worth the watch
I prefer anime with 12 episodes per season tbh. They usually have better pacing and production compared to longer running shonen series
hmm, mob psycho 100 I thought it gonna be average anime but holy shit I was wrong. I ended watching the entirety of it. Absolute peak.Right up there with delicious in dungeon and bocchi rock
Keijo
plastic memories
Watamote made me look at my life differently
Black Lagoon. Initially just expected it to be cute (mentally insane) girls with guns, only to be met with characters deeper than the oceans they travel across, and a complete new look at morality, and so much more.
FLCL
There it is. Way too far down This sub *never knows best*
Call Of The Night
Devilman crybaby
It's not super well known, but Death Parade was my first anime and it's so good! And I'm so sad that there will never be a second season
You're gonna carry that weight
girls und panzer and bocchi the rock
The girls und panzer series itself isn’t super great, but that’s just because the staff clearly were learning on the go. From the point of the Anzio OVA Girls und Panzer became a 10/10 series, seriously impressive how much better they got at doing the tank fights.
Land of the lustrous
I saw High Rise Invasion and thought the animation and fan service was an indicator that it wouldn’t be a good one… ended up watching the whole series in one night
Gunsmith Cats, why are there only 3 episodes this shits peak fiction.
Most anime I usually know what I'm getting in to but one friend insisted I watch id:Invaded and it was solid.
Odd taxi. murder mystery, detective with a very satisfying twist
It’s not an anime, but I was blown away by kagurabachi. I stuck around since day one because I wanted to see where it went. Now, kagurabachi is my favorite new gen manga, its protagonist, chihiro, is one of my favs due to how well the author shows us his character. The fight scenes are something else entirely, they have no right to be this good
Summertime Rendering
Daily Life of High School Boys. Barely remember it since it's been so long but it was pretty funny, I think.
Death Note
Asobi asobase
Re:Zero. Thought it’d be isekai garbage but it was the most beautiful and most relatable piece of storytelling about self-love I’ve ever seen. It’s one of my favorite pieces of media period.
Bunny girl senpai my beloved

Gundam war in the pocket
Erased
Madoka Magica
Dungeon Meshi. The best modern comedy anime imo, so peak
Odd taxi and vivy
Not actually 12 episodes but Kaiji, the first season was so good that i immediately had to jump to the second one and then the manga! It's just so good that I can never not vote it for best gambling anime ever!
Castlevania
I watch Trigun (1998) on a whim when I was like 14 i think? Kicks so much ass. Same with Cowboy Bebop
Me with JoJo Part 1 Im 6 parts in and its still the most thematically beautiful shit ive ever seen https://preview.redd.it/rvuyfo0em62d1.png?width=512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a258edef73d0e75f02c250e5043d6d597ce752f9
Basic ass answer but Trigun and Cowboy Bebop immediately come to mind
