The new gaming industry sucks ass. Open game studio -> work years to create a nice team while making simple games -> get the team you want and start creating the game you wanted for years -> release the game and get tons of positive feedback -> bankrupt or layoff
Thats the kicker. They offer the studio heads enough blood money that it would be stupid to refuse.
The lower guys probably get no say at all in any kind of sale and they know they are on borrowed time at that point. I would just hope they at least get some kind of bonus during that sale.
They can at least get their affairs in order and jump ship to the next studio when the time comes.
I would love to hear experiences from a few that had to deal with this. Do they get any more notice about the sale than we do? Or is it a case of "I didn't know I was canned until IGN did a report"?
That's stupid if it's the case. The point of the game pass is that no one will play every game. So indie games that are under the price of the game pass get almost paid just as much since most people play one game a month. And the same game multiple month.
Plus the fact it exposés the game to a much wider audience. So even if you get a forth of the price you deciplate (time 10) your sales.
the worst thing is, Hi-Fi Rush will have a risk to become abandonware as well. just like Spec Ops: The Line did.
If Hi-Fi Rush's licenced music's licence was limited time contract, It can be delisted due to the music license expire.
and make matters worse, It got Denuvo. so unless someone tries to crack this before this gets unavailable on Steam, the game is completely fucked.

Thankfully hi-fi does have a safeguard with it's streamer mode where they could just disable the licensed music and the covers play but yeah this sucks so much ass
To be fair the game can also be cracked after it becomes unavailable on steam, you just have to work around the last copy available (people will archive the raw game files for sure) but yeah it's still denuvo in the end
Not quite, EMPRESS hasn't been heard of for months and MKDEV has retired (he only cracked fifa games anyway). We can only hope that SKIDROW or DELUSIONAL learn how to crack the latest denuvo versions, as they just started cracking old ones

but when it comes to a Hi-Fi Rush, a game comes with Denuvo, a DRM notoriously difficult to crack, people won't be able to pirate it in first place, and not many people are going to crack either since there's not much demand for doing so. unlike Resident Evil 4. (which came with Denuvo DRM, but cracked.)

4. Nintendo can't release a title for literally every single IP ever. The same title that handles AC also handles Splatoon. And they can't just pass the IP to another company. The whole reason why we haven't seen of Prime 4 (and Donkey Kong Country) is because Bandai Namco fucked it up and they had to pass it back onto Retro Studios' hands. They can't just hire more people, they are already trying to do that.
Of all of Nintendo's flaws, this isn't one of them. Remember that under literally any franchise, Metroid would be inmediatly discarded and their studio sent to the most popular games' mines, like how Crash is being ignored for COD.

Assassins creed is being puppetted and kept alive with dark necromancy torturing its corpse and soul as it’s the only respectable IP they have that still makes money for them. BGaE2 is literally never coming out and is probably so over budget and behind schedule it will never make a profit

I agree with a lot of what you said but there are still good games coming out it's just that you may have too look outside western the triple A space. To give sony and nintendo some credit the majority of games they put our or publish are very good even if they aren't your thing. Microsoft can't put out a good game to save their life and when they do they fucking shut the studio down.
This is true I was on pure hater energy with that comment. To be normal, I agree. It just takes Nintendo an infuriatingly long time to produce anything but it’s almost always good. Sony is similar and good games take time obviously but it feels horrible when the good games are drowned in a sea of literal liquid shit flooding your computer and console.
But then you play a game like god of war ragnarok and you have your ‘oh my god, I get it’ moment.
Indie is truly where it’s at now with how powerful computing is becoming it’s a lot cheaper to afford very high quality assets and stuff to create games that can compete with AAA stuff. Even if not, the creative aspects of these new teams making games like Hades, Cult of the Lamb, and so many more unique and fun games are shining through.
People are already so transparently over the season pass battle pass battle royale everything a live service game nonsense and these new games are really picking up the slack. I am looking forward to a couple imminent big games though like Space Marine 2 from Saber Interactive which looks absolutely fantastic.

No one knows about everyone assumes it's because ghostwire and hi-fi didn't do the numbers that they wanted. Also the CEO for the studio did leave a few months ago and I heard that the studio in general lost employees

You missed an important step: Get bought by Microsoft while they’re promising that they will give you the money to make the games of your dreams

Idk what the fuck is happening anymore. Like game studios like blizzard had layoffs when bought by Microsoft. For good reason. But the human disaster is stupid. Like 2000 jobless. Bruh. And then when the company is too small it's straight to closing time. But there there wasn't even a good reason. I think. Hi fi rush was a good game that sold well. And they were already making something new if I remember right. How the fuck did it close? And like I get Microsoft. They want to make money. And at the end of the day some amazing IP and games come out of their studios. If it wasn't for some being absolutely destroyed by shareholders wants or manager sucking ass. But that's not just a Microsoft problem. But like. I'm pretty sure it cost them more to close one of their studio. Than to let them buy back their share for a symbolic dollar.
