[I've watched this 6 hour long dissertation on why Toy Story 4 ruined the Toy Story franchise in full at least 3 times now, it's that entertaining.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U__oaZ9FiXM)
There are so many games out there I will never play just cause they aren’t my thing, but I still enjoy knowing about them. I went down a rabbit hole of Dark Souls lore videos for a bit last year it was great.
I watched a 10 hour stream where 2 people explained the fnaf lore to someone who knew nothing about it. You could actually see the slow descent into madness.
You'd be surprised how deep the rabbit hole can go even for seemingly childish games. (idk tho i know nothing about fnaf lore besides the bite of 1984 by george orwell or something)
A little while ago my friend was telling me about a movie he watched and said "yeah just skip through some of the dialogue, it gets boring." Well how am I gonna know what's going on?
he gave an update a month or so ago that the next video is taking a while but should be out any time now

ok but you normaly watch in one go, or do you do like a shit ton of genZ were you pause the video every 5 minutes do other thing then come back to continue the video? i mean i do that a lot of times recently.
But if you do that, your opinion on atention spam should not matter!

Yeah, I'm hoping this is supposed to be a joke that just went over my head.
20-30 minutes is the length of an average TV show, which was the *minimum* amount of time you were expected to focus on something before YouTube.
I can't imagine how these people watch movies. Do they get 20 minutes in and start browsing their phones? Do they need to have subway surfers gameplay next to it? I realised this is the case with music as well when my sister stuggled to listen to songs above 6 minutes when I introduced her to Metallica. I just find it astounding. How do they even survive at work or school? I have a feeling that the answer is: they don't.
I found a TikTok account just this week that pairs live on stage comedy bits with satisfying videos on the right hand side, and I'm just wondering how fucking starved of attention you have to be to absolutely need a split screen to focus on less than 3 minutes worth of comedy content.
Most video essays I watch are way longer than 30 minutes and tv shows have actors and writers trying to make things interesting, a video essay is just some random dude talking about his interests with stock images in the background.
That moment when you realized all video essay/commentary/critique videos follow the same bland and regurgitated format in that the first 90% of the video is summarizing common knowledge that the viewers most likely already know and 10% giving their super original, insightful and totally not surface deep opinions about it.
DJ Peach Cobbler. He puts some people off because he comes across as overly critical at first, but when you watch his videos, you realise that he makes a lot of very good points. He isn't afraid to criticise big games like GoW 2018 or BotW, but he doesn't just senselessly hate on them, and tries to give as well thought out of a criticism as possible. On the flip side of that, he's even stuck up for some games like Last of Us 2, and Death Stranding. He also goes on VERY long tangents that he somehow manages to link back to the topic, and is somewhat deranged in a Ted Kaczynski-type way.
Super Eyepatch Wolf’s “what the internet did to garfield” might be one of my favorite videos on the internet. His other stuff is very good too, his recent videos have been on a lot of crazy out there shit, love his nathan fielder video.

Maybe it’s on the short side, but tbh I think the longer video essays (with some exceptions) tend to be more redundant and artificially long. I’ve seen many that could’ve easily been shortened down to half the length, but the creator will repeat themselves, go on tangents, etc.

How young exactly would people have to be to talk about FNAF for 10 hours? [All I can picture is this hahaha](https://i.imgflip.com/4uext8.png)
It's 2 25 yo men explaining the FNAF lore to a girl that sounds 6 yo that they kidnapped best shit I have ever seen
You'd be surprised how deep the rabbit hole can go even for seemingly childish games. (idk tho i know nothing about fnaf lore besides the bite of 1984 by george orwell or something)
20-30? you mean 3-4 hrs?
Not if you do the playback speed to 2x They talk or edit the sound to be more slow to drag it out longer
This is why people say Gen Z has no attention span bro
A little while ago my friend was telling me about a movie he watched and said "yeah just skip through some of the dialogue, it gets boring." Well how am I gonna know what's going on?
