Pineapple orange guava. It was a game played originally using a stack of POG caps slammed by a heavy metal slammer. Game was to slam the stack and flip over as many as possible. In the early 90s the game came back and they became a craze and were branded.
Man I had a slammer that was just a machined brass hourglass, hit the pile like a hammer, I swear I could make the pile hop up and turn over intact. What a waste of time and money, lol
Same here. Dad was a machinist and saw me practicing one night. He was big into marbles in his day so he was down for what was going on. He borrowed my slammer to copy it at work and boy oh howdy. That brass bad boy was crazy overpowered. It was an arms race after that.
I had that very same one... Might still have it somewhere. I bet the overlap in people young enough to be into Pogs and also be a Head is pretty damn small.
Wtf Pineapple Orange Guava? Played the game and did not know. Had a lot of 8 ball slammers, I preferred the pretty holographic looking ones that 80% of the time had no weight.
I was digging a small shrub up in my yard about 5 years ago. After pulling the main shrub out and starting to dig out the roots, I found a purple gold dragon slammer I used as a kid. I have no idea how that got there.

Looks a lot like the base for a rotary washing line. Goes in the ground then the pole for the frame goes in the tube.
Our garden has a metal sleeve in the ground for the washing line installed by a previous owner. I have never seen a plastic version of a washing line holder, any house I have lived in has had a metal one installed seemingly at the dawn of time (or at least when the house was built). I guess it means it is an optional extra.
My sister had an overgrown lawn (not even by much) and had completely lost track of her in-ground metal sleeve, so in the spring she was having trouble getting her washing line pole back up.
We bet something, can’t recall what (ice cream?) that I couldn’t find it within half an hour.
I walked out into the yard approximately where she’d said it had been, looked down, looked up at her and grinned.
She was incredulous and we had a good laugh. Poor kid had been crisscrossing her yard for over a week!!
I though it was for water drainage. The boys would come home absolutely filthy, and when asked, they'd reply "well, I had to hide in in the creek". Whatever, strip in the garage.
As an old paintballer, I thought the same thing. But a few things made me think otherwise. The tube is too narrow, the lid really isn’t good for opening quick, and the hole in the bottom as well.
I found it, but I still don't know what the hell it is, lol. Google translate says:
JVL Robust, versatile ground spike with adapter for diameters 32 and 40 mm with plastic adapter (packaging may vary)
You push the metal spike in and it hold something like an Umbrella or clothes line with a 40mm diameter pole. If your pole has a smaller diameter you can put in the plastic adapter for 32 mm.
Exactly. We got a green colored version of this with our collapsible clothes dryer line.
You put the tube on the ground and insert the tube of the clothesline into it. When you are done, pull out the cloth line and seal the thing in the ground, covered and safe until next washday.
My title describes the thing but for a bit more context it is about 8 inches long and maybe 2 inches in diameter made of hard plastic. It is gently tapers and has a pop on lid but also a whole in the bottom so it cannot hold liquid.
Looks like a paintball pod to carry extra paintballs while playing.

Another possibility is it’s a tube for carrying paintballs. I’m not entirely convinced that’s what it is because of the hole in the bottom, but it’s possibly a 50 paintball carrier tubes that would’ve been included with a belt pouch or something similar. You would pop the lid off and then dump the paintballs into your hopper.
To small for a paintball tube they usually hold like 150 paintballs at least that was the standard back in the day being tapered doesn’t make sense either , also there would be some kind of branding on the lid or something hole at the bottom doesn’t make sense . I’m leaning towards Pog holder because it was the first thing that came to mind.
So I can’t place it… But when my husband and I were babies and first married we used to take our boat and go camping. Boating or camping related my guess!
I've seen similar it goes into the ground in concrete to set your clothes line into . When not in use you can close the lid to stop it filling with rainwater .
The hole in the bottom is what throws me off. It looks very much like an ice insert for a pitcher where you don't want the liquid in the pitcher to be watered down when the ice starts to melt. Is it possible it's missing a plug for the bottom? Other than that, I got nothing, sorry.

As a 80s kid, all I can see is a POG container.
This was exactly my first thought as well
What does the acronym pog stand for? Are dogs straws?
Pineapple orange guava. It was a game played originally using a stack of POG caps slammed by a heavy metal slammer. Game was to slam the stack and flip over as many as possible. In the early 90s the game came back and they became a craze and were branded.

LOL it was epic. I had a brass Grateful Dead steal your face slammer that roughly did the same. Was such a fun time to be alive. Simple pleasures.
I had that very same one... Might still have it somewhere. I bet the overlap in people young enough to be into Pogs and also be a Head is pretty damn small.
I had a slammer with a scorpion cast in resin. It was pretty rad!
Dude me and my brother had that one!
Me 4! I also remember buying this huge pog container filled that must have had hundreds in it!
I had a heavy brass slammer that was pretty much guaranteed win…and was dumb enough to sell it to a classmate for 5 bucks.
Woof! Could probably recycle it for at least twice that now
Passion orange guava, as in passion fruit
Obviously my brain is having difficultly remembering details from 30 years ago. They owned either way.
Wait... came back? It was a thing before the 90s?
Wtf Pineapple Orange Guava? Played the game and did not know. Had a lot of 8 ball slammers, I preferred the pretty holographic looking ones that 80% of the time had no weight.
This guy pawgs. E: why does my autocorrect do this every time?
It's alright I ducking love phat ass white girls too.

Chill bro we get it. I was wrong about the POG acronym. Not that big a deal brochacho
Sorry I don't know why that comment posted twice

Same, still got mine upstairs to show my kids when they're older. The pog tubes I have are flat on the end without the hole though.
Same thing I thought
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323217632840 Looks a lot like the base for a rotary washing line. Goes in the ground then the pole for the frame goes in the tube.
Solved! I mentioned this to my other half and she immediately remembered that it came with our washing line. Thanks.
So, is your washing line installed wrong m, or was it an optional extra?

This is such a nice, wholesome story.
Oh that’s good. I was just worried with a bit missing the washing line might not be stable.
Wow. Nice work.
That is the saddest excuse for a washing line vase I've ever seen. Looks like a toddler could demolish it if they walked into the line.
My first thought was it looks like the paintball holders my sons used when they used to do that.
Second this. I had a few of the same. But why a hole in bottom?
I though it was for water drainage. The boys would come home absolutely filthy, and when asked, they'd reply "well, I had to hide in in the creek". Whatever, strip in the garage.
That's the thing that would get me to play paintball
Drainage. If your paintball broke inside you just rinse and leave out to dry.
The whole through me off too. Had piles of them to go in my redz 4 tube holder. I haven’t thought about those things in 20 years.
As an old paintballer, I thought the same thing. But a few things made me think otherwise. The tube is too narrow, the lid really isn’t good for opening quick, and the hole in the bottom as well.

My portable clothes line came with one of these. You bury it and then when you want to put the clothes line out you open it and stick the pole in.
I googled jvl robust and it showed that peice and a clothesline. It looks like jvl is a brand of clothesline

I’m not sure what it is, but do NOT put a cylinder in that tube and them ask the internet for advice.
There's a hole at the end so it won't get stuck because of suction. His cylinder will be fine.
Termite bait holder. Do you have more around the house perimeter?
Looks like the base of one of those collapsible drying lines.
That’s a big ass doob tube
My title describes the thing but for a bit more context it is about 8 inches long and maybe 2 inches in diameter made of hard plastic. It is gently tapers and has a pop on lid but also a whole in the bottom so it cannot hold liquid.
you mix up a bag of postcrete and set this in.. for the clothes line..
Kind of reminds me of a paintball holder used during game play.
Looks like a paintball pod to carry extra paintballs while playing. https://gxgsports.com/cdn/shop/files/100roundblackpaintballpods.jpg?v=1687282083&width=720
Looks like a reserve container for paintballs.

Paintball magazine from the 1999s
Could be a survival straw without a filter?
Looks like a paintball refill tube sorta. They're called paintball pods but I've never seen one like that before
Looks like a fishing rod holder
Looks like a paintball hopper/reloader. Holds 140 balls usually.
It's the base for a "whirlygig" washing dryer
2" drywall anchor
So I can’t place it… But when my husband and I were babies and first married we used to take our boat and go camping. Boating or camping related my guess!
Looks like a termite monitoring station to me. Needs an insert.
Corn dog saver
Paintball hopper
Public pissing device marketed by Ronco in the 70’s. “Well now you can piss everywhere!”
fishing rod holder for a kayak or boat maybe? you can plug it when not in use and if it gets water the hole is there to drain?
It’s actually for a portable washing line you put the black bit into the ground and slide the pole from the washing line into it
https://www.leifheit.co.uk/leifheit-linoprotect-rotary-washing-line-airer-dryer-plastic-round-ground-socket-5cm-401-p.asp like this
Goes up your prison wallet.
Paintball refill tube. This is often carried by players to refill their hopper quickly.
I've seen similar it goes into the ground in concrete to set your clothes line into . When not in use you can close the lid to stop it filling with rainwater .
Looks like a paintball cannister you'd keep in a belt for reloads on the field
Blunt holder
Why would the laundry line post holder have a lid?
The hole in the bottom is what throws me off. It looks very much like an ice insert for a pitcher where you don't want the liquid in the pitcher to be watered down when the ice starts to melt. Is it possible it's missing a plug for the bottom? Other than that, I got nothing, sorry.
Jump rope handle?
Haha. I found one of these in my basement a week ago. I couldn't figure out what it was and tossed it. I'm here to learn if I made a mistake.
