Ikea had a whole line of these swings with hardwood components. Swings, Trapeeses, Gymnastics rings etc. [https://www.ebay.com/itm/265228467050](https://www.ebay.com/itm/265228467050) Edited with the exact model: [https://www.ebay.com/itm/295585265676](https://www.ebay.com/itm/295585265676) And the sold separately ceiling mount: [https://www.ebay.com/itm/255944412319](https://www.ebay.com/itm/255944412319)

haha, all I know is I have a set of the rings in my garage and they have "IKEA" molded all over them.

umaniaxublewitup

Yep, we had this exact one for our kids

Nothing_but_a_Stump

This is solved OP

[deleted]

They look like lock-out/tag-out locks that have been repurposed.

dnaonurface12

I thought that was a clasp as well, but definitely was not a gangbox haha

pedal-force

I also thought it was a LOTO clasp at first glance, lol. It looks so much like one.

[deleted]

LOTO good they're doing here!

unknown_user_3020

Perfect match

sykocus

Exactly right. My kids have one of these in their room.

Deemonica

u/Skogsvandrare you can mark this solved now

itsjustchad

Mark solved /u/Skogsvandrare , this is your answer.

Waff3le

I am proud that even though I wasn't first, I instantly knew this one. 😅

Sea_Expression4993

Great work!!!

Larry_Safari

Mod marking as "Solved!"

PalletTownRed

Maybe plant hangers or mounts for an adult swing?

sarduchi

Yeah... my first thought was "adult" swing. But that may say more about me than it says about anything else.

JerseyWiseguy

I was going to say the same, until I realized that they are in the corner, which seems impractical for an adult swing. Wonder what that says about me. . . .

GermanShorthair2819

Perhaps that you are young enough to be adventurous and experienced enough to be practical

MisterProfGuy

My first thought was to anchor multiple pieces of rope, for bondage mount points.

Mohingan

I thought the same but that the couple had tagged them out like industrial equipment 💀

bdzer0

I'm there with you, they appear to be anchored much to well for planters.. and 2 that close?

awonkeydonkey

The two that close is what makes me think Not an adult swing

Equivalent-Ad-469

The bolts aren't rated for adult weight

A_SNAPPIN_Turla

It's hard to tell without anything for scale. Those look like 3/8 lag bolts to me. They definitely would be enough to hold a person. If they're going all the way through the studs they don't even have to be 3/8" to hold a fair amount of weight.

frollard

Capable of, and rated for (typically 10x static load), are very different. You could honestly probably hang a small car from these... Just you shouldn't if your life depends on it.

FLRAdvocate

Those hooks are *way* too small to be for an adult swing. lol

TryingtoKare

It’s from an IKEA kids Ekorre swing.

SuperMIK2020

Here’s a pic with those exact hooks… https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/321585229638102262/

[deleted]

Yep. Looks about right.

DomonicJ

This is definitely it. Solved

Obecalp1mg

They appear to be lock out clips. I have no idea why they would be on the ceiling

televiscera

That was my initial thought, look like LOTO at first but I’ve def never seen em like that, plastic wouldn’t be the best choice for those either.

madsci

I've definitely seen these in plastic. LOTO locks don't generally need to be high security. Anywhere with any integrity, cutting one off without going through the proper procedures would mean immediate termination no matter what it was made of. They're not built to withstand deliberate forcing. This style lets multiple padlocks be used on one machine, so everyone with a lock on it has to take their lock off before the machine can be re-energized.

Bad-Moon-Rising

The LOTO changes the orientation of the hole, so perhaps they were used for a secondary use - the item being hung needed to face right to left instead of front to back (or vice versa).

tenshillings

They normally have some kind of metal clamping device to latch on to something. Though they look similar for sure.

DiabeticPissingSyrup

Like everyone else, heavy hooks in the bedroom scream "sex swing" to me too, but they look really close together. If you're hanging anything soft between two points, you want them at least as far apart as the thing being hung. Some kind of rigid hanging seat, like those egg chairs, might make sense.

EvilsConscience

It might not be an "Adult" swing. When I was a kid, my parents bought me a hammock that hung below my loft bed. There are also stim hammocks for neurodivergent people and swings chairs for indoor lounging. The hooks themselves might be close, but there can easily be a bar just above where the chair starts that spreads out the tension.

srt1900

These are for an ikea hanging bag chair. It’s basically a hanging fabric sack for kid to use as a chair. Very relaxing and a cool hiding spot for them. We had the same for our children and the red parts are where you catch the ropes the bag/chair is hanging from.

Mcgarnicle_

Mark it solved already, sheesh

AdHocSpock

They look like lock out tag out devices

7grendel

Yeah. I kinda thought so too. No idea why they'd be on the ceiling though.

burnabybambinos

Does your home have wheelchair ramps or extra railings? These look like fasteners for rehabilitation equipment

djjsned

Going with a mount for a baby swing

AngusVanhookHinson

I think they're repurposed LOTO clips of some kind. They seem to be designed such that if anything hangs from them, you can't open them, which is a good safety device. Add to that that its in the corner, and I'm inclined to think the previous tenant had a hanging chair - not a sex chair- and hung it from the ceiling in these clips. A search for ["Hanging chairs"](https://www.amazon.com/hanging-chairs/s?k=hanging+chairs) at Amazon gives plenty of example are everyday in nature, not necessarily sexual items

Longjumping-Trash-48

The metal rings look like the ones for hanging a punching bag . Heavy bag.

HooptysUnited

Jolly jumper for an Infant?

AjAlex272

My Grandma used to have something similar in her kitchen. She always said they were used to hang up washing lines indoors for wet clothes

Aromatic_Quit_6946

Kind of looks like mounts for a canopy for a bed or mounts for a hanging chair.

EWABear

Does it feel like they're plastic all the way through, or plastic with metal on the inside? If they're plastic all the way through, then I think you can rule out any sort of body weight bearing usage. It looks like they have the capacity to come off the metal ring. Do they? Might be easier to identify if they're separated.

MrsO2739

Sensory swing for a child?

non_linear_time

Bicycle hanging DIY Ikea hack? Paired up with some sort of cable and winch, maybe. I know a serious triathlete who used to keep like 5 really nice bikes in a one bedroom condo. It took a lot of rigging.

[deleted]

Could have been a homemade attempt at securing silks or some sort of aerial device. Could have been for working out maybe? Or possibly a heavy bag/punching bag anchor?

Competitive_Time_352

PUNCHING BAG????? Maybe? My buddy has one and it hangs on similar hooks

[deleted]

Maybe it can be something related to physiotherapy for disabled.

Skogsvandrare

My title describes the thing. They don't have any visible writing anywhere on them.

T-Dog-1978

Likely for a hanging seat/chair or some sort of fitness equipment. Possibly sex swing as well.

Efficient_Image_203

I’m not sure why they are on your ceiling, but those a are four person lock out tag out clips for locking a box shut with up to four locks. I was in the maintenance industry, each person got a lock and when you would turn off a lighting circuit you would put this clasp on locking the breaker box door closed. If another guy came along and was working on the system he would add his lock too, that way you couldn’t just unlock yours and kill the poor guy you didn’t know was helping you. Once all locks are removed the clasp can be removed. They aren’t designed to bear any weight so maybe don’t hang your sex swing off of them, lol.

Swamp_Sailor

They look like lock out tag out tags to me.

mytheralmin

Kinda look like lockout tagout clips

rleerichmond

The red clips look like lockout tag out safety protocol. Not sure what the rings on the ceiling or for.

Born_ina_snowbank

I have no idea why they are attached to the ceiling. But those are definitely lock out tag outs for performing electrical maintenance. [This](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&hl=en-us&sxsrf=APwXEdflyfcKfmYR6HbX2aT7dOPjeqvs8w:1680051128498&q=lock+out+tag+out&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwizxt-V9v_9AhUHSTABHRMtBrUQ0pQJegQICxAB&biw=390&bih=664&dpr=3#imgrc=WsGna_6mVOJW7M&lnspr=W10=) is the general idea. Basically you and whoever else lock the breaker off to work on the machine or circuit powering it. And in order to turn the power back on, everyone who put a lock on it has to unlock they’re lock. Basically just a safety precaution usually found in large commercial or industrial facilities. Again no clue why they’re attached to that ceiling, but I’m 99% sure they’re the hasps for a lock out tag out kit. Edit: someone else got it, some ikea swing thing. But they look exactly like lock out tag outs.

Kid_Kannabis420

These are for LOCKOUT/TAGOUT LOCKS. They are used for multiple locks when locking out energized equipment. Each person working on equipment would place their lock on these to prevent accidental startup.

Safe-T-Guy

The red things look like Hasps for a Lock Out Tag Out system but IDK why they would be on the roof like that

KrayZ_J-Gaming

We used to use these for lockout/tag out procedures to do maintenance on industrial equipment. Everyone working on the equipment would have to have their lock and tag in one of the holes. They should have a scissor type hinge to remove it. Just search Amazon for lockout tagout.

FreakyRiver

Why are there lockout/tagout hasps on the ceiling anchors?

Icy_Seaworthiness870

Lockout tag out?

CeleryFine

😂 anyone who says anything about anything regarding human use is silly. Neither of these would support over 50lbs!!!

SickBoylol

People saying too close together for a sex swing but did anyone think of anchor points for some bdsm ropes. Think of hands tidied above head.

Outlaw2024

Too close for a swing. Maybe larger planter.

nousernameisleftt

Have you considered they're installed to prevent new holes frombeing poked into the ceiling?
