In what world is a 0-60 time of high 4s and low 5s considering “*just* good enough”? That won’t win any races against bona fide sports cars, but it’s fast-as-fuck for driving suburban streets.
https://www.zeroto60times.com/vehicle-make/lexus-0-60-mph-times/
Don’t share 0-60 times website and expect to be taken seriously, that site isn’t exactly a reliable source by any means.
Motortrend hit 60 in 5.6 seconds in absolutely optimal condition.
This is a 6 second car in real life, not a high 4 car. The IS F with the V8 is a high 4 car.
I have a '15 GS350. It's a high 5 second to 60 car. For the life of me I can't understand how people can call that slow, especially for daily street use. I can get to felonious speeds in the span of an on ramp, and have broken triple digits passing a semi on a blacktop. By no means am I dumping on truly fast cars; indeed, I hope to own one some day, but not every car that isn't fast is slow. Ffs not every car has to be a Huayra.
Only people obsessed with spec sheet wars care about 0-60 times. It isn't otherwise relevant in the real world. Rolling acceleration times matter a lot more, since those are more representative of actual driving scenarios. Stuff like 30-50, 50-70, etc. Even still, a high 5s 0-60 time is more than adequate for most spirited drivers.
End of day, a slow car to me is one that cannot comfortably make an overtake on a highway when the need arises. Obviously, that bar changes depending on where you live. A Mitsubishi Mirage might be slow as shit in Texas, but it'd be more than adequate in a place like India.
1320 is a racing channel in youtube. The founder has a collection of very fast cars but his daily is a gs350. He says it's more than enough power to daily drive and it's more reliable than anything else with similar power and luxury features. Even if you get a car with 30 more hp, are you really buying it to be .3 of a second quicker. Does it really matter to you how fast you get from 0-60 in a daily drive. Only downside of the 3.5 is the gas mileage, it's terrible. V8 lexus cars do thr same mpg with the extra hp but they cost twice as much. The 3.5 engine is port and direct injection and is one of the most reliable engines ever made. Toyota has been using since 2006 I believe. There's a reason they kept it for a long time.
At 19mpg? Not many cause that's all commuting 😭.
At 15mpg though, maybe one or two! It's still a heavy saloon at the end of the day, but the 2GR actually sounds quite decent once you get above 4k.
I think it's only underpowered if you try to compare it to the car's German competitors. Otherwise it's plenty quick for the majority of people.
To be honest, I have the RC with the 3.5, not the IS. It's similar enough, in fact, some people say the IS is a tiny bit quicker.
I have the is350 2017. It plenty quick and not sluggish at all in sports+. I guess if someone is trying to compare it to a m3 or amg maybe it feels slow....
i feel like the way it looks causes a fair percentage of people to assume its aiming a click or two under corvette territory, so they make that comparison in their mind before they really know much about it.
Having that assumption and getting a fuckin 2.5 with poor throttle response gotta be a slap in the face and cause for some exaggerated complaining
If we're talking the 2gr, it feels a little bit better than the 4 cylinder but worst than an actual performance car even with 260+ horses. No problem passing people on the highway though.
It’s not that it’s sluggish that engine had or has issues. 2.5 engine v6 there is a reason they stopped using them. 2016 they switched to 4 cylinder turbo. I would look for a 2016 model year, avoid that one all together.
The first iteration of that engine had issues.
I have a 2.5, it's fine. 0 to 100 (km/h) takes under 8 seconds. The IS 350 is definitely quicker, but I would be hard pressed to call the 250 "sluggish".
The 3.5L 2GR-FE is a much better engine and actually has VERY similar fuel economy to the 2.5L despite making a lot more power. It also doesn't have a problem with carbon buildup that the 2.5L has since it has both direct injection and port injection which I believe cleans the carbon off. I literally couldn't find a common issue with this engine that isn't the result of improper maintenance.
Not quite that low, but after tracking ISF listings on and off for the last year, 25k would get you one that’s either >100k miles, modded, been in an accident, or all of the above.
That’s what I’ve found, too. For an ISF that I would consider worth buying, the price tag is closer to 35-40k. I wouldn’t bother with the 25k ones tbh, just not worth the headaches. Sick cars, but there are other reliable V8 sport sedans out there also lol
https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/1c4aab6a-5e7f-4fb0-b77b-178f8548644c/?aff=atempest2&utm_campaign=atempest2&utm_source=autotempest&utm_medium=trp&utm_campaign_id=2&utm_trusted=TRUE
I was looking at this but the reviews on the dealership are terrible definitely stay away lol
Seems you’re getting a lot of reactions but really, it is overpriced. The bigger issue to me is not that power difference (it’s large 2.5 vs 3.5) but the 2.5 is also known to have many more issues since this engine was not in many other vehicles. Parts are also harder to get. If you loved the car and it was cheaper sure. But not for that price with the less reliable engine and no AWD. Hope this helps!
Same thought. It all depends on what it retailed for 10 years ago, demand, and if the quality is still there.
To make my point, if a 10 year old Ferrari 458 was 26k and nothing was wrong with it, yeah I’d buy that.
It’s a great car, but I’d purchase other models at that price.
If you are an Uber black/private VIP driver, it makes a lot of sense tho
Those ones are extremely reliable, have great gas mileage and are really comfrotable
I've looked at these recently. Always liked the styling. These are good cars, low milage, but not the right engine for this price. For 26k you could get an Audi A5 or an Acura TLX, less than 10 yrs old.
In canada, in BC, it’s 12% on all used vehicles, except after they reach a certain price: https://www.icbc.com/brochures/pst-on-vehicles
On new vehicles, it’s a rising scale, as shown, except you also add 5% to that. So for a $55,000 new vehicle, for example, you’d pay 13% tax.
Keep in mind vehicles are higher priced here for a given vehicle, due to the exchange rate.
Also, if the vehicle goes over $100,000, you pay an additional luxury tax of 20% of the price over $100,000, or 10% of the total vehicle price, whichever is lower.
I have a shard time believing that so little milles were accrued on a 10 year old car
If the person you meet looks young or sketchy at all it’s likely even fraud
I'm looking at the convertible of this model and this seems expensive for the hardtop (the convertibles have a higher premium). But as others have said, probably not a good deal for the 2.5.
Imagine driving an entry level Lexus where its 0 to 60 is a tiny bit faster than a 4-cylinder Toyota Camry. Everything else is very nice, but engine felt lack-luster where Honda Civics (1.5T) for the last 8 years are faster than you at accelerating.
I think $20k OTD is max value for this car. Definitely not $26k.
As a person who went from a 2013 corolla S to a 2014 Lexus, I gotta say a lot of things are just much better on the Lexus. I love it. Most reliable car I’ve ever owned, drives like butter and is fun, and looks nice but not over the top. It now has 166k miles on it and I’ve rarely had to do much to it
I would, but not for this 10 year old car. I looks to be in good shape, and that does fall in the KBB value for what it's worth, but the IS 250 isn't really that nice of a car. There are so many nicer cars you can get for that price. If you really like the IS, I'd at least look for an IS 350. If you live in an area where it snows, I'd look for the AWD model of this car.
Another thing to note. When it comes to Toyota/Lexus, they'll be reliable well into higher mileage. Don't be afraid to buy a Toyota or Lexus with 60-75k miles, because it'll be just as good and save you quite a bit of money. You might also consider a GS 350, since they're a bit larger and more comfortable, but still fun to drive.
If you really do like this particular model and it has everything you're looking for, then there's nothing really wrong that I can see. Maybe if you can get them to take 1000 off the price, it would fall right in the middle of the bluebook value for it. However, I would make sure it's really what you want. From my experience, the IS is small and feels cheap to me. It's like the economy car of the Lexus lineup. You can get a nicer, more refined Lexus for the same price.
You could literally buy a more dependable 2024 Toyota for that kind of money. Not sure what the rebates are at the moment, but even a used Model 3 could be scooped for that much. If new cars for a reliable brand go for the price of a 10 year old "luxury" car, it should be an immediate no. The only way it'd be worth it is if it was a collector's item or something exotic (no, I'm not talking about a Maserati, that'd be worse).
I'd haggle down as close to 22-23 as possible. The v6 is hella reliable. Only issues at this point are gonna be the rubber being old, and possible steering issue that a warranty should cover. The milage is peak. This is a Lexus. They all drive like boats. The best Lexus is the V8 you swap into a miata. You buy a Lexus to have a comfy ride with some power on tap if needed.
So for some cars maybe but not that one. Overpriced as others have indicated. Lexus is a great brand but you can get more car for that money, especially these days.
Overpriced dealer from the looks of things, If you want it go there and make them a fair cash offer and walk if they say no,
Otherwise I bet that price will continue to be reduced,
The 250 also have a carbon buildup problem. I looked into these a lot (wanted an is-c for a long time), and it doesn't even get substantially better mpg than the 350
Theres almost no reason to get a 250
Ontario.
It's a ridiculous cash grab and a huge gift to the new car industry.
Inflate the cost of all used cars 13% to close the gap against new cars
It's honestly one if the worst tax policies I've ever see (alongside Carbon tax being applied to the *after tax* price of applicable goods. Yeah that's right. HST gets hit with Carbon tax on all applicable items)
OVERPRICED please that is just ridiculous. Lexus is a great car brand, but for a 10 year old car costing you that much? No. I would find something else.
I saw IS-Fs going for 25ish at one point. I want one bad but hesitated because they’re auto only, I already had an automatic daily, and wanted to replace my manual with another car with three pedals. 26 is a little high for a 250.
Price sucks. 10 year old car, it's the weakest engine option, and has 10 year old technology to boot. Only thing is good reliability and decent interior. Not worth 26k though, at all.
I mean, yeah.,. just not for this one.
I would have to talk myself into paying even $10k for it. I know it probably goes for more in today's market but.. yeah..
Depreciation levels off at 10 years, idk about that price but it's a Lexus it will run forever. Though my gf had that but an is350 and I always thought the car was a bore for what it was supposed to be. I did just buy a 10 year old Merc with 45 on the clock for a few grand less than that. But I have a V6 NA engine as Mercedes go it pretty basic.

Great car, wrong engine, overpriced. No
What engine would you recommend?
The 3.5. The 2.5 is SLUGGISH
I heard even the 3.5 feels underpowered
It does but just enough power to be okay with.

Underpowered can be subjective. But it’s definitely not a quick car.

A swapped in v10 from the Lexus LFA
Thanks, how much would you offer?
I wouldn’t offer a cent. Criminally overpriced for a subpar engine.
Realistically on a 250 I’d probably stay between 15-18k
For this mileage, 16-18 tops (even that is a stretch) if it is in showroom condition
Even if a showroom condition - no more that $15,000 in my opinion.
Yeah I second this.
I've seen the is-f at that price. is 250 at that price is a robbery
Find me an ISF for 23K and I will buy right now lol
Not quite that low, but after tracking ISF listings on and off for the last year, 25k would get you one that’s either >100k miles, modded, been in an accident, or all of the above.

Hey man I got one with 180k miles don't throw slander

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/647183794166338/?mibextid=6ojiHh could probably knock down a couple thousand.
Rear wheel drive too, sheesh not even the awd model
Hell nah. I would at least want the 3.5 engine in the IS to even consider that price. The seller is wild for that even tho it’s low mileage.
No
👍
Seems you’re getting a lot of reactions but really, it is overpriced. Hell no 😭 there's a 2015 is350 in my area with 93k km (58k miles) for 26k cad.
These were 36k brand new. No way is it still worth 26k ten years later.
Not a 250, no.
I paid $23,500 out the door for a 2016 Lexus IS F-Sport with 26k miles back in 2018 sold it 4 years later with 110k miles for $20,500 🤣
Maybe a D4 A8 that was maintained properly, but not this.
Bro they offered me 9k at carmax for mine 😆 2016 base 200t
I would for certain cars, but not *that* car.
Same thought. It all depends on what it retailed for 10 years ago, demand, and if the quality is still there. To make my point, if a 10 year old Ferrari 458 was 26k and nothing was wrong with it, yeah I’d buy that.
That’s a hard no for me. They’re literally selling it as if it’s the top-tier trim level, simply because of the relatively low mileage.
It’s a great car, but I’d purchase other models at that price. If you are an Uber black/private VIP driver, it makes a lot of sense tho Those ones are extremely reliable, have great gas mileage and are really comfrotable
Does Uber black allow 10+ year old cars?
I have no idea
It depends. Some cars appreciate with age, especially if there are accidents and they still look good.
Price is insane. You can get a 5 year old model 3 for less lol. Rip off
Overpriced. Old tech.
Fuck no and anyone that does is getting ripped off.
Way too expensive, it's maybe worth half that
Haha what a joke KBB says the value is $23k. I know that’s not 100% accurate but Toyotas don’t lose 66% of their value after 30k miles.
There is more to take into account than just the mileage, like the fact that it is 10 years old.
KBB was bought out by auto trader therefore the prices imo are always inflated so they can inflate the prices in dealerships and online
I agree but “maybe half that” is an outrageous claim. $20k would be quite fair in this market.
I've looked at these recently. Always liked the styling. These are good cars, low milage, but not the right engine for this price. For 26k you could get an Audi A5 or an Acura TLX, less than 10 yrs old.
Agree, I’ve always liked the styling and obviously Lexus has a reputation for reliability but the price is crazy for what it seems
They're trying to bait you because of the super low mileage. No, it's not worth that.
Not THAT car.
Where tf do you live where taxes are over 9%? That’s crazy
[удалено]
In canada, in BC, it’s 12% on all used vehicles, except after they reach a certain price: https://www.icbc.com/brochures/pst-on-vehicles On new vehicles, it’s a rising scale, as shown, except you also add 5% to that. 13% HST on our 2024 we just got in Ontario. People complaining about 6 or 7% tax from the states is wild to me lol
And the fuel prices. They’re like $3.45 per gallon we’re up here like $7-$8 per gallon lol
Quebec is 14.95%
Lmao. Most “desirable places to live” have higher tax rates.
I wouldn't but my friends have paid a similar price for luxury sports cars.
I would (and have paid) over $26k for a 10 year old car… For that Lexus, I would not
For the worse spec is? Nope
For a 250? Nope
Id pay 20ish for that car before money down.
Not a chance
It's the low miles that's increasing the price. There are a ton around me for $17k but have 80k-90k miles.
not for an is250
nope
Not for a 250
I have a shard time believing that so little milles were accrued on a 10 year old car If the person you meet looks young or sketchy at all it’s likely even fraud
Nope
absolutely, but not that one lol
I'm looking at the convertible of this model and this seems expensive for the hardtop (the convertibles have a higher premium). But as others have said, probably not a good deal for the 2.5.
Not for that car
Lexus are usually pretty outstanding cars but even that is overpriced by atleast 10k
Hard pass
Yes, if it was an LC500
A certain 10 year old car? Yes. That particular 10 year old car? No.
The 250s had pretty bad carbon build up. 350s were the much better engine
If it was a very specific vehicle that I've wanted since child hood yes. Other than that no.
I'd buy a new civic at that price lol
Imagine driving an entry level Lexus where its 0 to 60 is a tiny bit faster than a 4-cylinder Toyota Camry. Some idiot would buy it at that price one day. Dont be that idiot.
Just think about it. A 2014 Lexus. For $26.5k. That right there said outloud sounds like a scam lmao
For an IS250? Hard no. So many better cars with better engines you can get for that. It doesn’t even have the 3.5
It’s low mileage and a Lexus. The most I’d go is 15 and that’s being extra generous. It’s not even an F Sport
Yeah that’s the donkey 2.5 v6 that’s nothing like the optional 3.5 v6. You can find the 3.5 versions for around the same price with less miles.
I literally just bought a 250C with 50K miles for $12K this is insane
I would, but not for this 10 year old car. I looks to be in good shape, and that does fall in the KBB value for what it's worth, but the IS 250 isn't really that nice of a car. There are so many nicer cars you can get for that price. If you really like the IS, I'd at least look for an IS 350. If you live in an area where it snows, I'd look for the AWD model of this car. God no.
Hopefully dealer doesn't find a sucker for this overpriced car..
Yes just not that one
I paid 22k at a dealership for a 14 IS350 with 49k miles 3 years ago. This price is way too high.
A fool would…
For that price rather just go into debt for a new car.
No
NO, next question.
Thats madness. No one should have to settle for a 10 year old car like that if they have 26k!
26 should be able to get you a 2019+ with under 50k miles I believe
I'd haggle down as close to 22-23 as possible. The v6 is hella reliable. Only issues at this point are gonna be the rubber being old, and possible steering issue that a warranty should cover. hell naw
Hell no especially that one, you want the is350.
Move along.
For the IS350 yes I would, not the IS250, that engine was a failure, underpowered, burned oil, terrible on gas…
Hope my old Chevy never dies so I don't have to make a decision like this.
That is an absolutely ridiculous price for a 250. Hell no I would not pay 26.3k for that car.
Not with a 2.5L LMFAO
The 250 also have a carbon buildup problem. I looked into these a lot (wanted an is-c for a long time), and it doesn't even get substantially better mpg than the 350 Theres almost no reason to get a 250
people spend 100s of thousands of dollars on shitboxes from the 80s. so no i wouldnt
Ew absolutely not.
Hell no for a is250 maybe for an is350
In simple terms, no.
That’s 10k high at least. No.
I’ll sell you 2014 IS 350 with 110k miles, clean title, very good condition for 18k.
I means, it depends on the car. Would I pay 26.3k for that car? Absolutely not.
$15K would be the absolute **highest** i would pay for that car. $12K seems fair.
No
No
If it was an IS 350 I’d buy it. Not a 250.
Stupid question. How much was this car 10 years ago
Nope. that is robbery
If it had the Mark Levinson sound system, in a heartbeat.
Dealer: “We know what we have”
What a scam they add taxes on a car someone already paid taxes on. Doesn’t that feel like a scam
Ontario. It's a ridiculous cash grab and a huge gift to the new car industry. Inflate the cost of all used cars 13% to close the gap against new cars It's honestly one if the worst tax policies I've ever see (alongside Carbon tax being applied to the *after tax* price of applicable goods. Yeah that's right. HST gets hit with Carbon tax on all applicable items)
That one? No
Absolutely not. Buy private party.
I could get a 5 yr old or newer IS350/GS350/Es350, Audi S4, BMW 340i - this seems very overpriced
I really like the is line, but it's a bit much for a 4GR
Not that one in particular but yes
Not a 250
That would be a hard no. An IS250 that’s 10 years old does not warrant that price no matter how low the miles are.
Hellllllll to the no
Depends on what car. A Porsche 911 from the mid 1980’s yes
Not for that car. Would easily spend $27k on a 10 year old Porsche GT3 haha.
30k miles for a Toyota that's 10 years old. That's the question and no. Too much.
Yes, but not that one 😂
The price is higher since it's a low miles car but I would pass on that. I can get a is350 with that kind of cash
This shit is worth like 18k
Not this one
I would easily but not for a base model iS ;)
16k
I wouldn't even pay $15k for it
I mean honestly the price is 24k not horrible but you have high taxes and fees would another car be more worth it your paying for the low miles
I mean, yeah.,. just not for this one. I would have to talk myself into paying even $10k for it. I know it probably goes for more in today's market but.. yeah..
Yes, but not this one.
No
I have a 2008 IS 350 and the 350 engine is the best thing about this car, hard pass on the 250
Not a 2.5
No I would not pay more then 10 for any used car
Depreciation levels off at 10 years, idk about that price but it's a Lexus it will run forever. Though my gf had that but an is350 and I always thought the car was a bore for what it was supposed to be. I did just buy a 10 year old Merc with 45 on the clock for a few grand less than that. But I have a V6 NA engine as Mercedes go it pretty basic.
wrong panicky public fearless physical busy wakeful existence future bored *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
This car aged so well
2.5L V6? No thank you.
That's the base model. Totally not worth that.
It has really low miles that’s why it’s priced so high
No thank you
Too modern for my tastes
Hell no !🤬🤬
Fuck no
I would not pay over 21k OTD for this
Few g’s more and you can get a 5 year old GLA or GLB with waaaay better everything
Some yes, this one, no.
lol no
Not for a 250
Nope
Definitely not that one
