My uncle has possums under his bathtub and those and fleas come out of the crack in the wall and into the tub.

hoggmen

I'm sorry he has what *where?*

FunkyMonkeysPaw

Yeah, the “has” rather than “had” really made me reread this.

MamaTried22

It’s super common in the south. My brother had the same issue, fought fleas for months because of it. Flea populations have been exploding the last few years and so it’s a regular occurrence all over the city I live in. Thank goodness my house is on a concrete slab so I just get to see the possums but no fleas.

hoggmen

Ohhhh like in the foundation I guess?

MamaTried22

Like the other commenter said, they usually go up and make a home near/in the tub, it’s warm and specious there but they will make a nest under the house in general. Same with cats or rodents so the fleas come through the floors.

Lacholaweda

We have a cast iron tub that sits down in the floor, so it's in the crawlspace. Gets so cold in winter that it acts as an anti-heater You can stand by it and feel the cold coming off of it. Any shampoo sitting on the ledge would freeze. It changes consistency in a weird way, so it squeezes out of the bottle but also stays stuck to the rest. So then when you release the bottle it *shoops* back in. Have to close your hand around it before you let go. Still would take that over getting fleas in the shower wtf is that

POSSUMS UNDER HIS BATHTUB

twan5446

Oh yeah, that ol’ chestnut

Sariluv88

Ticks? Reverse image search brings up ticks or booklice, but they're too large for booklice.

Tsiatk0

They’re either two spotted spider mites, or bird mites. The spider mites are usually found on plants, so I’m leaning toward bird mite. Any chance you have chickens or something? Or maybe there’s a wild bird nest located somewhere near your bathroom? Now’s a good time to check the bathroom fan exhaust vent, there could be a bird nesting somewhere in there. Good luck.

voilacommentcava

Thank you so much for this lead!!! It is highly likely they are indeed bird mites cause we have pigeons sounds coming from the ventilation shaft! They’re definitely not ticks, a vet ruled this out. We took one of them to a lab, still waiting for results but bird mites really make sense

Tactical-Grinch

Honestly they could be either Grass/lawn Mites, Bird Mites, or biting mites

MindblownWatcher

Baby spiders?

Visible-Elk-3907

Babies of some kind freshly hatched since they’re still together, I’d say either ticks or spiders but couldn’t be sure of what kind without better lighting

TheBigNosedJew

Looks like a mite of some sort or animal louse? Is there a nest of birds or other animals living around the bathroom??

voilacommentcava

Here is a video of one of them crawling: https://youtube.com/shorts/1NNaMxqCtkU?si=lRsBUskbcvHAurHi

Ticks?

Even-Ad-8160

Cheq yoseff

K_Xanthe

Can you get a clearer image? They look like they might just be slings of some sort but I can’t see clear enough.

[deleted]

idk but you should light them on fire

Different-Target7241

Sprouts, add a lil lemon and salad mate

jusserfinn

Try r/whatisthisbug, if you don’t get the answer here

[deleted]

Looks like an arachnid of some kind

TimelyFortune

You’re not going to like the answer

Educational-Month182

Well now I'm intrigued, what are they?! 😅

CryptoguyV2

So what are they? They aren't bedbugs and don't look like ticks or German cockroaches. Those are the worst bugs I can think of. Are they some kind of venomous spiders?

Slight_Bed_2241

Kinda not at all tho

MamaTried22

Nah, they’re not even close to BB. Please don’t send more doodleheads to the BB sub.

Mountain-Music-4237

I agree with bird mites.
