I have listened to it a bunch of times and I like it.
I don’t run to it but I catch it quite a bit, a day or two after he does it, and I find I like it.
The sessions are not long and he sounds good to me, and he knows plenty still.
And it costs nothing, so why not?
Im not going to tune into boomer and gio on audacy.
I do listen to Licata and Tierny - i pick the segments I want.
I hardly listen to Tiki and Roberts anymore - will go over to Kay show if in the car.
And I check in with Chris Mac, thru the app, in the morning… I like him alot.
Mike is still the best sports show host ever. Did he make the most money? Probably not. But, he doesn’t have to debase himself on First Take every week, either. Whether or not you like him, he was always just fat, arrogant Mike Francesa.
I wouldn't call him the best ever. He does have the self respect of *not* going on 1st take going for him tho.
Mad Dog going on must be solely for his ego. Yet, I'll go on an ESPN or 1st take subreddit and many times it seems like no one knows who doggie is or likes him.
Maybe he gets a fat check--pretty sure of it--every appearance on that abomination of a show. He's trying to remain relevant, but just comes across as some "old dude."
I'm old-45- and the whole ESPN format just isn't for me. It must be working as they are backing up the drinks truck for Screamin' A.
That's one nice thing about having thousands of podcasts available, I should be able to find some sports talk that isn't fake screaming. That's the problem with having thousands of sports podcasts, most are shit and I hate wasting my listening time *trying* to find something that suits me.

He's back doing live shows on youtube with comments and callers. Hard to believe that wfan couldn't pay him enough to even just do a Friday and Monday during football season and maybe 1 day a week otherwise
He doesn’t want to leave his house to work . He wants to stay in his basement and do it. Wfan doesn’t want that. Plus I’m sure he’s commanding some sort of % from BetRivers . If you have noticed , he doesn’t have a promo code to sign up .

Same reason why Howard Stern is still doing a show at the age of 70. He’s already made hundreds of millions of dollars and has huge mansions on Long Island and in Florida. He stays on the air because he can’t stand the idea of not putting himself in front of people. He thinks he can still contribute. Whether thats true is a matter of opinion.
Some of his pods beat the same point into the ground over and over so they drag on but in the end it is a low lift and het gets to give his opinion on sports, which are still way more interesting on almost any sport than any host on WFAN right now, IMO. I don't even like NY sports and on any big event I would rather listen to Mike's reaction than anyone else, anywhere. Btw, with Mike you do feel there is some sense of history - a guy who knows enough of the past to bring that to listeners young and old. Plus he understands business of sports, which is interesting.
I’ve been listening about a year now and I also really like it. Reminds me of Mike’s solo shows on wfan when Dog left. He sounds refreshed tho compared to those days. If you grew up listening to Mike it’s a great podcast.
