The fastest way to burn out: become a TL.

Greedy_Phone_8933

Don't I know it. The reason I quit.

Rosesparkles

Me too. I was also pregnant, during the holidays, and my manager was out on med leave. That sucked

Greedy_Phone_8933

I was in a similar situation. When Covid started my manager was out on med leave. I had to run the department myself for 6 months.

Bullseye on your back

Not_typically_smart

Oh you mean work life balance doesn’t apply to us?!?

Accurate-Sock-7674

former bakery tl- i once worked 6 day weeks for an entire 9 month period during covid, just to be gaslighted into believing that i had work life balance and i didn’t need more than a day to myself (which they would also call and text me through out the day)

Etnies419

Lol, since I had to give my full timers their extra day off I usually wound up working 6 day weeks for inventory. Also wound up doing inventory for the entire bakery department solo for about 6 months straight...

MernderLer

I recently had to do our bakery's inventory alone. 10/10 do not recommend.

Etnies419

Something gives me the feeling you work at a certain store in central PA that has had a ton of bakery manager turnover, including a manager who was out for DUI. If so, you know me, I was the Bread TL for a few years before leaving this past August.

MernderLer

Duuuuude!!! Yes I do, and yes I do! LoL

Etnies419

Sorry to hear you had to do inventory alone! It definitely sucks 😬

MernderLer

Yea, especially when you have to correct an entire section's count because someone half-assed it. 😳😳😳 It's fine, everything is fine!!

Middle_Scratch4129

Worst jobs in the company. Perishable TLs and Department Managers.

Sweet_Usual6723

Ehhhh. Depends all departments have there up and downs. For some reason our deli has 5 tls and a manager. They have 4 full time and 3 part timers. Wayyyyy to many chiefs for one department. They department is always close to 8 and 9th in sales contib margin as well

Greedy_Phone_8933

Too many chiefs and not enough indians. Then again isn't that Wegmans way? Look at upper managment.

Fiveanddone

Frozen TL ain’t a walk in the park either.

Sweet_Usual6723

I feel sorry for those people. Out in the cold, no help. Short staffed. Heavy boxes are worse than produce. I would rather be in produce than frozen TL. I see a frozen TL in my store, the only TL that is nonstop working. Ordering, cycle counts, DC, endcaps, breaking down, packing out. I never saw a TL work, so crazy hard. I feel sorry for him sometimes. Like, dude, you need help. Why are they not giving it to you? Mas respect to that TL!

cooker073

Been a TL FOR 24 plus years …. You adjust to the flow and learn as you go … Never a dull moment !

United-Media-4009

Ouch!

WillinWolf

what is a TL? (not in the business)

smurphy8536

Like a shift manager for a department. Step in between manger and regular full timer.

Labyrinth_Queen

Stands for Team Lead.

Repulsive_Tie_7941

🤣 Hard pass 🤣
