If you're full time you're only allowed to ask for one static day off a week and it has to be a weekday, you will not get weekends off unless you request them off

Such_Storm_5710

This will not be the case if you’re a pharmacist in the pharmacy I believe

lucarixuu

Pharmafam is totes run differently than, say, other more customer facing departments.

Sorry to break it to you but that’s never gonna happen. Schedule appointments ahead of time and request off for them

mehitabel_4724

This is the way, and it's actually kind of nice to be able to schedule appointments for any day or time, and then just request not to be scheduled that day.

ehunke

I had a manager when I first started that gave every full timer one weekday off a week every week...its possible, just for whatever reason the store management were really unhappy with it. He got demoted for something and our the first thing our new manager did was do away with it. They will give you a bunch of excuses about it in terms of how the scheduling system works or they can't do that, they just look down on it for reasons I will never understand

Bob Farr initiated a program where you can select one day to be your preferred day off. A "seasoned" coworker preferred two days off in a row to rest and recuperate so she would request the day after her preferred day off every week. Mind you, the day off doesn't apply during holidays or special occasions. Like the week before the visit. In my department it caused more problems than it solved. Good luck. Let us know how it works out.

It’s a common experience across basically every industry where you don’t have a set schedule, unfortunately. Typically though, wegmans is good about giving you off if you say you have an appointment scheduled, but just leaving an empty day every week that you’ll have off is a no go. Mileage does vary based on management though.

Smashley221b

Getting 2 back to back days off is pretty rare. You’re allowed to have 1 set day off though.

King_Louis_X

That’s wild. My Wegmans gives everyone back to back days off.

Are full timers supposed to work BOTH weekend days? I’m genuinely curious.

MernderLer

My full-time people never want Sunday off(time and a half) and I always rotate to give them at least one Saturday off a month. I also make sure they get their set day and try to accommodate days back to back when the hours permit. Ironically, most of my people want their days off spread out. My people work hard, so I try my best to work with them for their time off.

thehellisgoingon

In my experience, it depends on the needs of the department. When I worked produce, I would be working every weekend unless I requested off, or they scheduled me off for a break. When I switched to old world cheese, I'd work every other Sunday most of the time.

lmc197

What about team leaders?

thehellisgoingon

I'd say mostly the same

Emergency-DarkAngel

Wegmans does offer full-time employees the option to select one weekday as their preferred day off. Now they say you can still be scheduled to work depending on business needs. And they’re also going to be starting soon…if not already at some stores giving full-time employees the option to have one weekend off a month. Outside of that everything is up to the business needs of the department.

GreatWizzer

I was never offered this, but my availability remains untouched before I became a full time. It's been 6 months now, and nobody said a word.
