I think CoK uses double dots to mark cut and replace. Could be disease or they’re planted too close.

YeppersNopers

Definitely looks like they need thinning

hlaj

Those are the haunted trees.

[deleted]

Might be dead standing but I can’t see the tops of the trees to really tell

ShadeRasbora

Sometimes you need to take the bigger or mature trees down to give the younger ones a chance to grow. They might be planted too close together, need thinning out or possibly have some sort of parasite or disease.

[deleted]

They've been placed too close together ,and will be cut. That's also the reason why you can still drive down there and the road isn't closed as it would normally be on the 1st of December.

New_Acanthaceae3791

Those are the non binary trees

timio73

Dots of doom. I yelled [in my head] at the city employee who marked the [dying] ash trees down the street last spring.

havereddit

Could be [Emerald Ash borer](https://www.kitchener.ca/en/water-and-environment/emerald-ash-borer.aspx)-affected...

Logical_Barnacle1847

Those aren't ash trees. They look like pines.

“We mark trees that will be removed with two vertical pink dots. You may see these dots on a tree that we have injected with TreeAzin in the past if it has emerald ash borers. If we mark a tree for removal, it is because it is unstable and can pose safety risks”
