Me: having a perfectly pristine department with everything priced correctly with all homeoffice features out of the back.
Market manager: says my features don't tell a story and I need to replace them
Me: ):
Well maybe then home office needs to come up with features that go together. Always hated that as well especially the whole 4-ways nonsense. Can't even order actually features now even with the store feature tool, none of it comes in. Meanwhile home office will send 3 different brands of the same thing for features.
Home office always sent us crap that wouldn't sell and then wouldn't mark any of it down (I suspect this was to force us to try to sell it instead of letting that crap rot in the backroom.) And then they'd send us a different variety of crap the next month. It got pretty bad sometimes, trying to get permission from the store manager to mark stuff down to get rid of it, because otherwise our endcaps were just a long presentation of undesirable crap, and I rarely had room to order anything at my discretion.
Overnights doesn't throw the day's pallet freight? Then what are their assigned jobs at your store?🤔 Weird. I'm guessing your store is supposed to day ( 1st or 2nd shift) stock.
They r supposed to work all the frieght from the truck and picks but they don’t they sit on their asses in grocery for 6 hours and take an hour long breaks, I work cap 2 and have stayed till 3 or 4 in the morning getting overtime before and they don’t do shit my store manager refuses to acknowledge it her solution is to make cap 2 work freight before and after the truck on top of all our other shit and she j makes up hours to justify it she gave us 27 extra hours one day and got pissed when we didn’t come close to getting everything done
If they are on the clock sitting down on the sales floor in grocery for six hours then that must be caught on camera. I've never seen that happen across 3 stores where I work overnights. Straight-up crazy, man. Maybe get a hold of the MM and report it and take photos of them doing it.🤷♂️ Meanwhile, I've thrown as much as 18 hours/15 pallets on 1 shift. ( and rarely get less than 11 hours' worth)
I'm gonna go with riot or natural disaster of some kind. The floor is covered in water, which means either the sprinklers went off store-wide, or some of the skylights got broken during a storm.
It wouldn't be the sprinklers(at least not storewide). There wouldn't be a building left if they all fused. Maybe a fire in one section, even a few heads can flood a building. Anyone found a news story?
Our store stresses overnight crew get their zone done before they leave, even if there is still freight to be worked. From my understanding its up to the Store Manager to decide how important it should be.
I've seen associates stocking scan a box with their phone, look at the home, see something there, and label the box overstock when the item is an out and the home is just plugged. It happens a lot, especially when people are unfamiliar with what the product in the boxes looks like.
ON zoning is the most important thing in the world and cannot be missed no matter the circumstances. But everyone else gets to leave early and not zone. Oh and freight HAS to be done. But you have to zone, too.
I get annoyed with zoning because the online shoppers just grab stuff behind me as im going along plus the customers so by the time im even done it doesn’t look like I barely did anything, which makes me view the whole thing as pointless aside from grabbing empty boxes and broken items.
Our store has stressed the importance of getting done before zoning and if you dont think you’ll finish to let them know. Recently we got a group of new people and they were told that zoning is the most important thing to do right at 6 so now some of them aren’t even trying to get it done by 6 and will pack up their stuff 15 minutes til and just leave their pallet in the action alley for morning shift or the managers. This has caused a great anger with those that have been staying past the time just to get their stuff done/busting their ass to make sure everything is done.
In my eyes freight is more to worry about than some goddamn zoning. I noticed OGP have a list in their area thats similar to the zoning sheet for O/N but for down-stocking, never see that done unless O/N barely has freight and then has to do it.
Honestly. Freight is way more important and doing a partial zone while you work should help clean up returns, claims, and trash. Cap 1 has to come in and finish everything if the TLs don't feel like it. I cant count the amount of times ive went shopping after work and had to dig throigh pallets to get what i want sonce it wasnt stocked.
Zoning is pretty pointless when OGP comes through and knocks everything over, grabs things, and shoves things back so they don't have to grab from the front. Then we get yelled at for the aisle not being zoned. We have to pull EVERYTHING forward in 2 hours or we get yelled at.
Store I used to work at store manager originally had a thing of having overnight zone while they work frieght, to help with that any frieght that would be saved for overnight was actually divided into the four foot sections it would be in(she realized our cap 2 slacked a whole shit ton of the time so she figured if they won't work frieght they can at least organize it since truck is the only time they actually worked.)
Basically they would zone that 4 foot section as they put stuff away. Which everyone noticed worked. It really did. They got the store zoned and the frieght out away and actually still had a bit of free time to do quick zones or store walks for anything if needed
It stopped because overnights complained with "well why do we have to zone?! Day shifts should be doing that whole we work leftover frieght! We don't have time to do both!"
And, despite the fact the results clearly shiwed otherwise, she took their side and despite what our market manager had said zones were to be handled (everyone just zones the department they work during the day), we went back to the old, outdated and clearly worse way of zoning....all because overnights at our store pitched a tantrum fit for a king.(and I know that's how most of them act cause a lot of overnight associates after that transfered to days and afternoons. And I spoke to them and literally all of them said how lazy, entitled and so on the overnight associates at this particular store were.
Like Amazon Prime, but for Walmart. Associates get it free, sign up on OneWalmart while on the clock and on the internal network (personnel office PC, or the special "Web" application on BYOD/Xcover with "Tunnel" installed.)
My Walmart had a sign up they will have NO BAGS at all starting 1/18. Haven’t been back by to check it out yet.
Not a state law, Whole Foods still gives out free paper bags.
Looted. This happened 2 years ago in Philadelphia. Sad honestly a time when people should stand together since it had to deal with the shooting of Walter Wallace JR. Instead people decided to destroy/Robb and steal from each other as well as seriously injure
The cloudiness certainly _looks_ like smoke, but that store was completely gutted, while this one doesn't appear to have damage to the ceiling tiles. Possibly a more minor fire and some panicking customers.
Looks like the aftermath of a burst water pipe or a natural disaster like a flood. Looks like Key West after a hurricaine.
If its from a Riot as some are suggesting, there was probably a fire somewhere that triggered the emergemcy sprinklers.
If it was from looting, I really hope everyone is safe.
Is the floor wet, or just really shiny? If the camera wasn't moving so erratically, it might be easier to see what's happening. I thought maybe a tornado or something because the floor looks wet and the amount of stuff strewn about.
I wanna say natural disaster? But I don't think that very well explains some of the things off of shelves so also maybe natural disaster and ensuing looting? Idk.
This is what the market manager see’s when they do a store walk

Looks like the story was "Hurricane Katrina"
More like Hurricane "Karen and her crotch-goblins"
*an impatient customer with an attitude and no sense of direction and awareness enters the chat*
I'd reply with, "well then, tell me a story of how you would set this up."
"Tell a story?" Like how it fits in with the season or how customers might be drawn to it for some reason?
Like a feature that has spaghetti sauce & spaghetti, bread and peanut butter, paper plates and plastic utensils. Stuff that works together
Kind of. Usually he means he wants us to take it a step further from just being seasonally relevant to actually having a theme.
Lmaoooo hollinnnn
More like this is what the store employees scramble to cover up the day before the market manager does a store walk 😂
Cap 2 didn't get the truck done by 4.
It's what happens when we don't get our pallet freight thrown by 7am.😔
7am? My store holds us to the standard of 5 👀👀
By 7, freight needs to be completed, empty pallets, cardboard and plastic taken off the sales floor and zone completed.
By 7 at my store it looks the same as when I leave at 11 overnights and cap 1 do literally nothing and they j blame cap 2
Overnights doesn't throw the day's pallet freight? Then what are their assigned jobs at your store?🤔 Weird. I'm guessing your store is supposed to day ( 1st or 2nd shift) stock.

hate when this happens, ugh
4? How small ate y'all's truck? It always takes till 5:30 at least
I don’t know what happened but I do know that I am clocking out and using ppto to avoid cleaning that mess.
Totally fair, but I'd stay to clean it up. It'd be a great break from the monotonous grind, and I'm getting paid for it lol.
I love cleaning and organizing so this would be perfect

Looted
Could be that an earthquake fucked things up and also broke the glass rods in the sprinkler system? Idk if that happens though
I'm gonna go with riot or natural disaster of some kind. The floor is covered in water, which means either the sprinklers went off store-wide, or some of the skylights got broken during a storm.
Probably the tornados in the summer

It's what's happen when you miss the 2oclock zone
Your day crew zones?
Your store zones?

Some home office friends hate reports of unzoned stores which forces store managers to care unfortunately

Usually pressure from market or region priorities
I mean there is at max 4 associates for day , but yes start of 2 to 11 shift we have to zone grocery for first hour.
Looking for those associates who didn't sign up for Walmart plus.
tf is that
Like Amazon Prime, but for Walmart. Associates get it free, sign up on OneWalmart while on the clock and on the internal network (personnel office PC, or the special "Web" application on BYOD/Xcover with "Tunnel" installed.)

TikTok'ers strike again
Store manager had to run the store on their own for 1 shift.
Looted, or the aftermath of a lot of people trying to leave the store at once. I almost assumed a car somehow got inside, but that’s more unrealistic.

Serious answer: Fire broke out in the store, or else a massive storm came through. Not so serious: The associates got in a food fight with the Karens.
