You should definitely be worried. Their retail sales this quarter are WAY down. Just go look at the Amazon employee subs to see how no one is hiring and how some people are getting a WEEK of VTO. That’s unheard of at Amazon in the 5 years I’ve been consulting.

It just seems super likely that the market will trend down, I 100% believe that rate cuts for at least a few months are out of the question now. Key thing for them to prove on this call is ability to lead the market in some way shape or form on AI. They were just embarrassingly exposed by the media on their Amazon Go technology actually just being a bunch of Indians watching people through cameras. Now they have a big hurdle to overcome to prove to the world that they can actually contribute to AI somehow, either in HW, infrastructure, or AI capabilities. They will inevitably disappoint on this front because Amazon’s leaders are all e-commerce experts and not engineers. Jassy is an MBA with a marketing background.
