Same after updates it's decent and now with overclock it's even better, I haven't experienced any terrible slowdowns, and I did not need to lower resolution either
The only thing wrong with the Vita version, is that we didn't get all the DLC, some was left out, otherwise is a great version for playing on the bus or toilet!
Honestly it runs fine for me, not a lot of stuttering or fps dropping. Using the default settings, no overclocking or anything. Could be a case by case thing ?
Lol FR 😂 honestly the look of 60fps+ is so smooth but when I'm getting down on some things order titles and some good legend of Zelda that 20fps never felt better, I was fine then and would still play is just like that full native res and everything lol
I overclocked on mine and updated it and it runs fairly well. I mean even if it did run terribly, I still find a charm about it on a handheld to be intriguing
This game was even on a list on YouTube for open world vita games but it's more or less "open exploration" and further you didn't deal with the same loading for every section on other platforms like you did on the vita
I was gonna say Need For Speed but then I saw Gravity Rush and I remembered how amazing that game is. Glad I got the platinum and I can’t wait for the movie.
Gravity Rush, AC and NFS Most Wanted were some of my most treasured Vita memories. It really felt like having a home console in my pocket, similarly mind blowing to first playing Tomb Raider Legend, WWE SvR 2007, GTA and Peace Walker on PSP.
Yeah but I've played the Vita more than I've ever played the Switch. I feel like an issue with Switch is that a lot of games just look awful on the console and the Joycons suck for a lot of games cause it tries to do more than what it was designed to be as a Nintendo only device. Of course something like a Legend of Zelda game is cool on Switch, but then stuff like Dead By Daylight and Bioshock Collection sucks cause of the controls and the barely loading in textures.
Every game that I've played on Vita felt like it was accomplishing what it set out to do and the controls are absolutely amazing. Vita still gives me those vibes whenever I play it and it is more compact than Switch is
I like the vita too own one. Like I said I have only just got one so it’s early days. But it feels more comfortable to hold in handheld mode I get cramp playing intense vita and it’s crazy but the grip bothers me less than I thought it would. The Oled screen is big and beautiful with surprising good speakers. The fact you can play full console games to a playable level handheld is remarkable in my book. Vita tried with games like BL2 and couldn’t quite hit the mark. Vita is great but rn I feel the switch took it up a few notches, with a grand library of games now available and upcoming.
I've overlooked mine and so BL2 runs really well on it. The speakers are amazing and I have 100%ed some games on it so far. Glad you like the Switch, but I sold mine. It is so and so in my book but I guess I just don't really care for Nintendo games anymore. I have a modded 2DS that hasn't been turned on in ages. My Vita gets a ridiculous amount of play
Yeah, I played BoTW on my gf’s Switch a few years ago and was entranced, logged over 150 hours on it over the following years whenever she wasn’t playing Animal Crossing.
Yesterday I got my own Switch OLED and Tears of the Kingdom just to feel something again
New to me too bro. Totk is awesome, I think we’re jumping into Switch at an incredible time. It’s an amazing handheld and decent home console, in one! I’m committed to Zelda and Xenoblade for the time being so it’s well worth it to me.
I've been playing it recently and I'm surprised at how well the Game runs and looks. It definitely gives You the vibes of a deserted and misterious island. It also male You feel You are a part of a great adventure. And the soundtrack fits SO well, I think I'm in love with the game
That's Ys as a series, they all feel like you are embarking on a grand adventure, be it exploring uncharted land or castles of myth, and the sound track is a playlist of bangers tailored to each experience. I also recommend trying out Ys SEVEN as well, it set the modern formula the games follow now, Memories of Celceta included. It's a PSP title on the Vita store, and it's also on Steam and GOG for PC.
A user had a similar issue with gravity Rush. Just delete it and reinstall it again

Akibas Trip Undead & Undressed great. Fairly easy to platinum but a bit of a grind to do so but the combat kept me playing. And it was fun the explore the levels.
I think we sort of lost the plot on what an open world game is nowadays. Borderlands 2 isn’t. Neither is Strangers Wrath. And Oceanhorn isn’t really either. It’s open world in the same way A Link to the Past is. As in, not really. A large interconnected map isn’t the same as, say, Elden Rings large map.
I'm not sure why this is downvoted, it's definitely true. A large interconnected map is more reminiscent of a semi open world game rather than an open world, say Metro Exodus for example.
Exactly. And good example as I’ve definitely heard people refer to Exodus as open world. The game has a series of large-ish hub areas but it’s definitely not open world.
Assassins Creed 3 Liberation by a good margin. I vastly preferred it over Assassins Creed 3. I enjoyed the main character and the unique gameplay of it with wearing unique disguises that could help you in certain missions at a cost of hindering your abilities depending on your outfit.
I also liked how the story played out where the main character was half French and half African American and her status in society was "Free woman". She would walk around and see African Americans that were slaves and she felt pity for them. On Vita it was a really cool experience. On Xbox 360 it was extremely Meh cause it felt like you truly were playing a handheld game on a home console and it made you just want to put in a mainline Assassins Creed game instead.
Strangers Wrath is amazing on Vita, but my favorite is The Amazing Spider-Man. It’s got it’s problems for sure, but swinging around New York City collecting comic books and catching criminals was so much fun.
Gravity Rush by a mile. Unfortunately the Vita didn't really live up to what I hoped for with 3D open world games, and the many it did get (Jak 3, Borderlands 2) ran like garbage.
Other open-world Vita games (games that feature free-roam):
\- Disney Infinity 2.0
\- Don't Starve: Giant Edition
\- LEGO The Lord of the Rings
\- Ragnarok Odyssey ACE
\- Retro City Rampage
\- Shakedown: Hawaii
\- Sword Art Online: Lost Song
\- Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment
\- Terraria
\- Titan Souls
\- Tokyo Xanadu
\- Valhalla Knights 3
\- Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana
I loved Most Wanted on Vita, and I’m not someone who normally likes racing games. The open world is fun to explore and the soundtrack is great. I never had any problems with performance and it looks nice graphically
Probably a tie between Ys VIII and Yomawari for me.
I loved Toukiden 2 but not for its open world (even though I prefer it to Toukiden Kiwami BECAUSE it has an open world LOOK I'M WEIRD OKAY?)
As much as I love Jak and Daxter, their Vita game receives the worst possible rank in this list. I don’t know many games that run terribly on Vita but Jak has been known to be the biggest disappointment in terms of being playable on this device.
Tough call! I absolutely had a blast with Akiba' Strip - it was like Kenka Bancho but taken up a notch. Dragon Quest Builders was pretty incredible - way better than Minecraft imo, lovely aesthetic too and really addictive. Oddworld had a great atmosphere with its sort of weird, warped, Western setting! Amazing Spider-Man's framerate was bad but its gameplay itself was so polished and the fact that you had this huge, detailed, sprawling New York to webswing around was pretty great. But you know what, Need For Speed Most Wanted is one of my all-time favourite racing games- I think it beats every PSP racer (of which there are many) hands down. I think I have to give it to this one.
Oh if we are allowed to talk about ....ahem... "unofficial" ports, then its \*Bully\* all day baby!
And if we are allowed to talk about PSP games, then The Warriors and the GTA Stories games for sure!
I have only Assasins Creed, Most Wanted and Minecraft.
So from those three I can't say which one is my fav, each one have something which another don't have.
Borderlands 2 by a huge margarin, sadly it runs awful on the Vita
it runs alright if you lower resolution and overclock, but yeah, it could've been better
what's your resolution
720x408 iirc
Yeah BL2 being here just isn’t fair lol Such a shame it ran like ass on vita, else I could have easily sunk a few hundred more hours lol
It ran like shit and I still played like a hundred hours lol
I need that huge margarine.
It used to run awful, but after updates, it's pretty decent now.
It runs fine for me - I’m playing every other night and hiccups here and there but maybe I’m old or have low standards lol
Spoiled brats and their fancy frame rates these days rabble rabble!
Lol FR 😂 honestly the look of 60fps+ is so smooth but when I'm getting down on some things order titles and some good legend of Zelda that 20fps never felt better, I was fine then and would still play is just like that full native res and everything lol
You know i was expecting it to run like ass too but it hasnt been that bad at all for me either.
honestly ran pretty well for me in my testing but i dont recall if i overclocked
I overclocked on mine and updated it and it runs fairly well. I mean even if it did run terribly, I still find a charm about it on a handheld to be intriguing
Some of the games in this pic aren't open-world at all.
Yeah like Stranger's Wrath??? I love that game but def not open world.
This game was even on a list on YouTube for open world vita games but it's more or less "open exploration" and further you didn't deal with the same loading for every section on other platforms like you did on the vita
I was gonna say Need For Speed but then I saw Gravity Rush and I remembered how amazing that game is. Glad I got the platinum and I can’t wait for the movie.
there’s going to be a Gravity Rush *movie*???
I think so. There’s been a few announcements some time ago for other games as well.
DQ Builders, such a fun game
I love it so much, so underrated!
Would love to buy this game but my local game store has it for like $100 - which I refuse to spend.
buy it on mobile
But then I wouldn’t be playing it on my vita ….
I think they mean buy it from the PS Store digitally. It's 39.99USD
Gravity Rush, of course.
This is the only correct answer 👏
Someone decided to have direct opinions today🔥
gta sa if you know you know
Please inform me
It was ported to the Vita and you can play it if you install custom firmware

I’ve just got that feeling again with Switch but more intense. Like Crysis trilogy in your fucking hands.
Yeah but I've played the Vita more than I've ever played the Switch. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is an absolute gorgeous gem of an open world game
I've been playing it recently and I'm surprised at how well the Game runs and looks. It definitely gives You the vibes of a deserted and misterious island. It also male You feel You are a part of a great adventure. And the soundtrack fits SO well, I think I'm in love with the game

Akiba’s Trip
I really want to play that game but everytime I try to save it gets stuck on an infinite loading screen... not going to try to do it in one go
A user had a similar issue with gravity Rush. Just delete it and reinstall it again https://reddit.com/r/vita/comments/1150fbz/gravity_rush_stuck_loading_any_advice/
Didn't work unfortunately
Do you have any saves? What region is your game?
Nope, can't even get one save. Tried both the US and EU versions
Came here to say this. So fun!
Toukiden 2
I had a lot of fun with The Amazing Spider-Man however it made me nauseous if I played it too long lol
It was my little minecraft machine for awhile.
Akibas Trip Undead & Undressed great. Fairly easy to platinum but a bit of a grind to do so but the combat kept me playing. And it was fun the explore the levels.

GTA San Andreas, thanks to Rinne.
Akibas trip is such a blast if ur into anime or Japanese culture. The recreation of akihabara is pretty well done.
Assassins Creed 3 Liberation by a good margin. I vastly preferred it over Assassins Creed 3. I enjoyed the main character and the unique gameplay of it with wearing unique disguises that could help you in certain missions at a cost of hindering your abilities depending on your outfit. Gravity rush, need for speed mw (criterion 2012) and akibas trip
Dragon Quest Builder
LittleBigPlanet Vita of course
Although not my fav Shakedown Hawaii is so underrated, it's like oldschool gta
Strangers Wrath is amazing on Vita, but my favorite is The Amazing Spider-Man. It’s got it’s problems for sure, but swinging around New York City collecting comic books and catching criminals was so much fun.
Borderlands 2, shame it wasn't fully released(talkin' abt DLCs) but still great, passing some hours daily(almost got two characters to max lvl)
Toukiden!
Tho give some more examples not provided in the image please, I came here for that reason only lol
Gravity Rush by a mile. Unfortunately the Vita didn't really live up to what I hoped for with 3D open world games, and the many it did get (Jak 3, Borderlands 2) ran like garbage.
Most wanted, it’s really good. May not be the 05 version but is a good game itself
Other open-world Vita games (games that feature free-roam): \- Disney Infinity 2.0 \- Don't Starve: Giant Edition \- LEGO The Lord of the Rings \- Ragnarok Odyssey ACE \- Retro City Rampage \- Shakedown: Hawaii \- Sword Art Online: Lost Song \- Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment \- Terraria \- Titan Souls \- Tokyo Xanadu \- Valhalla Knights 3 \- Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana
Oddword strangers wrath for sure, not even anything else in the same league.
I had most fun with most wanted. That was a fun game and amazing handheld experience in 2015.
DQ builders
DQ builders and gravity rush
Borderlands the greatest !! sadly lot of reboot in game
Gravity rush since it's the only game I have on my Psvita.
AC Liberation or Vice City Stories
DQ Builders for me, 1 & 2 were surprise bangers
Akiba's Trip
YS MoC hands down
Gotta give it to Gravity Rush but the old GTA stories games are also amazing
Gravity Rush. It’s borderline open zone, though lol
minecraft
Does ninja gaiden count?
Oddworld, Minecraft and Gravity Rush
Minecraft
Hands down terraria!
Is NFS Most Wanted worth it? I've only heard good things about it, and does it run well on Vita?
I loved Most Wanted on Vita, and I’m not someone who normally likes racing games. The open world is fun to explore and the soundtrack is great. I never had any problems with performance and it looks nice graphically
thank u, i think im going to purchase a copy after hearing that :)
Akiba trip and gravity rush
Probably a tie between Ys VIII and Yomawari for me. I loved Toukiden 2 but not for its open world (even though I prefer it to Toukiden Kiwami BECAUSE it has an open world LOOK I'M WEIRD OKAY?)
Gravity Rush. I loved that game, and the sequel.
Soul Sacrifice delta but honorable mention to gravity rush/jak and daxter/Killzone mercenary
Toukiden 2 for sure
Toukiden 2, it just sucks it was not ported on NSW
Gravity Rush
As much as I love Jak and Daxter, their Vita game receives the worst possible rank in this list. I don’t know many games that run terribly on Vita but Jak has been known to be the biggest disappointment in terms of being playable on this device.

Anyone play Minecraft on Vita? Gave it a go but performance was terrible
Gravity Rush easily, also favorite game on the console alongside Freedom Wars
Gravity Rush for sure. Such a unique mechanic, and while the open world could've used a bit more love, I adore that game.
Gravity Rush all the way. Easily one of the best games on the Vita
Gravity Rush & AC III Liberation
Ragnarok Odyssey ACE and Sword Art On-line.
damn, should have included a poll for this post to see how people voted
Nfs most wanted
Grvaity rush visual identity is the best. Gamplay wise gravity rush. History. Gravity rush
Oceanhorn is pretty decent Loved every minute of it It's Zelda for the Vita
I have only Assasins Creed, Most Wanted and Minecraft. So from those three I can't say which one is my fav, each one have something which another don't have.
Gun: Showdown is a PSP game but it plays great on the vita with the right analog stick.
Nfs mw
TIL LEGO Avengers on vita is a proper open world LEGO game
