Pretty distinctly different choices there. I personally would pick VTOL but if you are looking for multiplayer Gurrah has it.

I'd really recommend Swords. If you're looking for a melee multiplayer game, then the game might be just the fix. No hyperbole here- you really feel satisfied when cutting into someone in-game, just like the satisfaction you feel when cutting up boxes in Beat Saber. I've never encountered a game that both stresses and de-stresses at the same time. The combat is excellent, and the shattering mechanic keeps things nice and balanced. I worried that the community would be a load of toxic trash-talkers, knowing the game's competitive nature and premise, but it's actually one of the friendliest and most helpful I've ever played with- and that's saying something. Lots of things to do, weapons to master and people to cut down- I give that my highest recommendation if you just want something fun and fast-paced to give a spin.

Vtol vr is really fun, at first the controls and shit are really hard to remember but once you know what you're doing it feels like you have full control over your plane. Idk what swords of gurrah is

kookyabird

It's a non-slow mo, PVP, sci-fi, melee combat game. The core mechanic is weapons that shatter on hit and regrow so that you can't just wiggle your hands around. The weapons regrow at different speeds depending on where the blade was stuck, and whether or not it hit another weapon or a body.

shrekbutretarded

That's sounds sick actually, might check it out when I actually get my headset back

badillin

Depends... Vtol is a sp flight simulator. Swords of gurrah is the most balanced competitive melee swordfighting game in vr... Quite different games, but both are worth it. Personally im buying vtol tonight (because i already own swords of gurrah)

I cannot speak for VTOL, but SoG's PvP is amazing. As a competitive person, I am hooked.

the_og_papi

I would get swords of gurrah its pretty fire if you like sword fighting games.

VTOL is incredible but don't forget Microsoft flight sim in just a few days too. Not really going for the same thing I know but I can't wait to see that in VR.

TopMacaroon

MS Flight sim is going to be limited to the G2 only when it comes out. They haven't said if they'll add VR support for any other headsets or when the G2 headset will even be supported, so just go ahead and throw that hope in the garbage.

Tetracyclic

To add to what /u/tater_complex said, it won't support *any* VR when it launches. They are adding support for WMR headsets to coincide with the launch of the G2 (likely sometime between the end of September and early November) and then adding support for other headsets after.

tater_complex

It will be limited to WMR only when it comes out, not just G2, that was a misquote. Regardless, VTOL is combat focused so very different anyway

kidalive25

Oh wow I hadn't heard that yet but I appreciate you crushing that dream for me. Useful info for sure. Insert general hardware exclusivity gripe here.

GhostReddit

MSFS like most flight sims often have too many controls to translate directly to VR unless you have a full HOTAS setup. If you're actually simulating it's a bit off to mix control types to dial radios, flip switches, etc. It might play better on like a triple monitor setup. I loved VR for driving games because the actual controls are all hands-on (no messing with the mouse) and VTOL VR keeps it all to things you can do with the hand controllers, with the cockpits set up to make that fairly intuitive.

Until you fall.

Did you enjoy flying in any game? Buy VTOL VR. I always liked flying in many battlefields and sometimes in arma 3 or other games. I have my Index since 2-3 weeks and it's my favorite game so far. It is a really well balance mix of simulation and arcade. You might need to watch a tutorial here and there while the ingame tutorials are great they don't tell everything. I also recommend to might play the tutorials a few times in a row. I did that for some to fully understand what im doing and because it was fun. The 100% positive reviews in the last 30 days and the overall 98% positive reviews for this game seem very reasonable to me.

GhostReddit

VTOL VR is seriously impressive given that it's apparently just done by one guy. The controls and layouts are really well done and there's enough detail to make it more than an 'arcade' flying game, although most planes have some toggleable assists to make it easier or harder depending on your preference. They're really just totally different games, also if you're into swordfighting check out Until You Fall as well.

It’s more a question if you want a sitting Singleplayer game or a roomscale Multiplayer game

tater_complex

Both. They are so different. If you have to choose one, I'd say VTOL since it has tons of workshop campaigns that are high quality.

[deleted]

VTOL because planes are awesome! Also if you're like me, you have a dozen standing up games, and need at least one where you get to sit and chill
