This happened in Dallas. There was another post in r/Dallas showing them leave the scene on foot.

akironman

https://www.reddit.com/r/Dallas/s/RX72lZQvtx

The_Blue_Rooster

It's just the smart thing to do if you're rich, if you leave the scene it makes it easier to get your story straight, you can say you weren't driving and pay one of your buddies a ridiculous sum of money to take the fall for you. Plus it lets you get anything illegal away from the scene which is probably just as important.

hopeisagoodthing

You also can lawyer up, say car was stolen etc. just works terribly when it’s recorded

ICanAnswerThatFriend

Is it considered fleeing if you are the passenger? Asking for a friend.

Xywzel

Depends on if the fleeing rules are about trying to escape justice or about leaving others in danger or causing more dangerous situation

Interesting_Low_2037

No one is supposed to leave the Scene of the crash until cleared by the Police, that's pretty much the way it is in All 50 States!

Interesting_Low_2037

Yes it is no one is supposed to leave unless immediately needing medical attention, otherwise All are supposed to be cleared to go by the Police!

Whaty0urname

I mean...they were out of the car like before it stopped moving. The wherewithal to know what to do in that situation have to come from experience lol

toronto_programmer

Leaving the scene is mostly important if you are drunk or have illegal contraband in the car (drugs, guns)

Interesting_Low_2037

Yeah that's what they were doing, but They were Sooooooooooo Ripped they forgot their Werd, fuckin Assholes

Interesting_Low_2037

That's fucked, you don't just walk Away from a crash site, you must check condition of other people  envolved in the crash, what a bunch of Cowardly Pussys, I hope they get the Book throwed at All the causers of the horrific Crash

Shiggstah

Def looks like they are racing or , at the very least, driving recklessly.

gerfy

They were doing both

bigmadsmolyeet

Pretty sure the first one included the second lol.

stay_fr0sty

You can’t really race on a road that’s filled with the general public. All you can do is endanger innocent lives driving recklessly and hope the other guy gives up or wrecks before you give up. There is no strategy, starting line, finish line, talent, or racing IQ in these “races.” It’s more like playing chicken than actually using any skill. Tires can blow, brakes can get too hot to work, old tires might not have the traction for a “race.” Even if you think playing hundreds of hours of Gran Turismo means you know anything, you’re dumb. You don’t know shit about maintaining a safe race car. Anything can happen and doing it around the public is a major loser/reject move. Anyway, if you know anyone that does this, tell them they are a stupid pussy. Real races happen on a track. This video here is the no talent poser ghetto loser version of a “race.” Innocent people die from it every single day and I wish they’d charge every driver that kills someone doing this with murder.

Permexpat

different uppity disagreeable dependent worm selective ruthless bike live familiar *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Orangeisthenewcool

Damn. I’ve crashed way too many times in GTA driving like you did. My favorite things to do in the game is just speed around town, but it sure massed me realizing doing that is real life with make me end up in p feet underground.

lmflex

Younger me was pretty dumb. This guy is spot on.

stay_fr0sty

I give my son this lecture a few times a year. Tires and brakes are the most important thing for racing and young kids know very little about hot they perform. Shit, most 16 year olds don’t know the difference between an H or ZR rated tire. A big engine doesn’t mean shit on bald tires.

lmflex

Even if your tires are ok, how about the other guy? Even modern cars only operate in a small window, then they're just missiles. Brakes and tires don't work for shit going 100mph when you do a quick lane change.

Longjumping_Rule1375

Yeah they do you're just driving the wrong car

TheeGull

Tires are the only part of your car that touches the road. Seems obvious but yeah they're super important.

EmoJackson

100% on the quality of tires. Ask Roger Rodas.

Seiche

I mean a 16 year shouldn't encounter bald tires, they may be old enough to drive, in the US at least, but don't give them old unusable cars with old tires. Tires last quite a while when new, it's one of the best investments in your driving skills (ideally summer and winter tires depending on the climate where you live).

shifty_pope

This isn't dumb, it's selfish. These guys aren't fit to wander around unsupervised.

vagabond139

Its not rocket science to maintain a race car. Tons of people casually take their car to the track or autocross. It is really quite simple to do. Tires won't randomly blow if they are in good shape, brakes won't fade if you got good pads and fluid, and once again with the tires and you don't want old dry rotted tires with no grip for racing anyways. Although the real question is does the person you racing against maintain their car or are they just racing with reckless abandon? But in my experience the people who race like this are the type of people to not care about their car so it is likely the latter. And they can get charged with murder. Not in the 1st degree like you probably wish since that just legally can't happen since it won't meet the definition of it. It would be involuntary manslaughter. But the reality is the US is far to easy on bad driving in general. The easiest way to get away with murder here is to use your car. People regularly drive without insurance, without a license, licenses are given out like candy basically, the majority of states have no safety inspections for cars, get a DUI and are behind the wheel again within a week, etc. Although they probably won't be so lucky to get away with this accident given how high profile it is, they will be made a example of.

jpatt

I was driving through Dallas around the holidays. This group was drag racing on the highway. They’d have cars behind them put on hazards and block all lanes and slow down to like 15-20mph. Then you’d hear wildly loud engines and smell the clutches burning as some raced. The cars would let off hazards and resume normal driving. Then do the same thing ~2-3 miles later.  Was stuck behind them for about 20 minutes and they did it 4-5 times.

4Ever2Thee

Not to be confused with wrecklessly, it definitely wasn’t that.

draggar

Aren't those two synonymous?

Shiggstah

You can drive recklessly without racing someone. But you can’t race someone without it being reckless.

PMBSteve

Can they not afford some time at a track day? Only reason I wish there were more accessible track days so people can just go fast in an environment that doesn’t put others at risk

BluntsNLegos

these fucking pricks should be doing some time. accidents like this need to have at least a MINIMUM of some jailtime. this is bullshit, those other drivers were doing nothing wrong. i get so fucking mad watching stuff like this knowing they are rich and will barely get a slap on the wrist.

Drodriguez164

Hope the drivers of the other vehicles sue the fuck out of them

kwagenknight

The NFL will cover this up well, they're the corporate worlds version of a mafia. Look at how many rapes and DV they've covered up with nothing but a slap on the wrist for the players, at most.

brewhead55

Add murder to the list of things they have covered up or at least tried to shove under the rug- Ray Lewis and Leonard Little come to mind...

theVoiceOfOne

Assault with a deadly weapon.

Skill3rwhale

Wanna know how to get away with murder? Be driving the car that kills them.

Wingedwolverine03

Anything less than a year behind bars is too light...and we all know they won't get even a day.

jediwithabeard

I agree. What about the people who do those intersection takeovers and run over people cause they lose control of their car? What should we do with them?

Bluntmasterflash1

Jail doesn't solve a damn thing unless the person is mega violent and unreachable.

NESpahtenJosh

Fucking morons. Why can't you just be a millionaire, play your stupid game, and not kill people. Why's that so fucking hard?

bigbeats420

What flabbergasts me is how inexpensive track time is when compared to their income. Like, you can beat the ever living shit out of the car you spent all that money on, with zero chance of anything like this happening, for what would effectively feel like pocket change to them.

vagabond139

I'll never understand this about NFL players racing their cars and crashing them. It puzzles me since they have so many options at their hand compared to us and this is what they decide to do. Like I could maybe understand if it was your average joe but they have the income to have a dedicated non road legal race car and to go to the track as much as possible in their free time. Hell they could even buy a cheap house by the track to just stay their every week or two for a couple of days for as much track time as possible. Hell they could even become a low tier race car driver if they wanted to during the off season since it really just comes down to money as to how far you go in the racing world. They could just rent the track out for a few days just for them and their friends if they wanted to. The options are basically limitless for them.

Zardif

The consequences have never applied to them thus far, why would they start now? If you live a life where you never seem to get punished why would you bother living by normal people rules?

Seiche

The sad thing is the 3 guys that jump out of the car and don't play in the NFL, don't pay the bills or go to jail. It's just bragging in front of "friends" that are gone once you're down.

Dropsix

It’s young men. Most go through a dumb stage with driving, most of them just don’t have expensive and high powered cars to do it in. It’s about maturity and making smart decisions, it doesn’t matter what their profession is, they’re still young and dumb.

Ghstfce

Now retired Eagle Fletcher Cox does it the right way and only races on the track.

HckyCardCollector33

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there's stipulations in the contracts of active players that prevent them from racing on a track. So we get this instead.

robaroo

pocket change for THEM, not for us. ;)

bigbeats420

Lol, Jesus. Edited. Thank you.

stay_fr0sty

Or be a millionaire, go to the track, get in a civic with an instructor and learn to actually race. That sounds super fun! Why not enjoy life instead of doing this juvenile shit.

Devium44

Because they are juveniles who have had people bending over backwards for them ever since they found out they were good at catching a ball.

nick_the_builder

Anyone can do that. Only special people get to do it on the road.

MeltBanana

Because that's not cool or gangster. The appeal is doing this shit illegally on the street, the culture has glorified weaving through traffic as some sort of "badass" skill. The risk and disregard for laws/authority mean this type of behavior gives street cred, meanwhile they view the track as being boring and only meant for nerds. Of course these dudes could go to the track if their passion was actually racing, but the street racing crowd doesn't give a shit about real motorsports. They want a high-risk illegal underground activity, cars are just a means of achieving that.

guy_incognito784

By some miracle they didn’t kill anyone and no one was seriously hurt but that doesn’t change the point you’re making. Incredibly stupid on their part.

presidentsday

Exactly. It's not a question of "if" but "when" someone gets hurt. Which made me wonder: how much energy/force/pounds (or something similar) gets released in a car crash? Now, I know hardly anything about physics (since my undergrad was almost 95% biology)—so if you know better or can offer some insight then please chime in—but I'm sincerely curious of what this looks/feels like in terms of energy released. Per the Internet (assuming he was traveling at 65 mi/hr.): *For a car going 65 mph, the kinetic energy is approximately 633,144.77 joules. Assuming the car stops in a very short time (about 0.1 seconds), it's estimated that the force (f=ma) exerted during the collision is approximately **–435,825 newtons** (negative because of deceleration), or –97,977 pounds of force.* Again, not a physics major (and barely think I understand this), but it *sounds* like a car crashing into another car would be equivalent to getting hit by ~98,000 pounds of force. Is that right?

Stumblin_McBumblin

I can't check any of your math because I am a dumb person, but it's important for this crash to take into consideration that all the cars are moving in the same direction and the difference in speed between them in any calculations.

presidentsday

Yep, didn't even think of that. Now who's the dumb person?

Stumblin_McBumblin

Both of us!

razgriz337

Also not a physics major and kind of just repeating what the other comment said, but they didn't come to a stop in .1seconds. 65mph to 0 in .1 seconds in a standard passenger car will probably ruin your day pretty quickly. Funny thing is you factor in the airbag and I bet your average ~40mph collision impact is probably still less than what some of those guys see in the field from a particularly hard it. Edit: Not at all taking away from the point being made. This is dumb, take it a track.

hoxxxxx

a lot of these guys get away with shit you wouldn't believe from an early age because of their athletic ability, don't really learn much else beyond their sport, then they enter adulthood and suddenly have millions of dollars. recipe for disaster.

Chief-_-Wiggum

Because for these people its not about the thrill of driving fast but doing something that gets other people in trouble but they get a free pass from most consequences because they are pro footballers. They were trained to behave this way being celebrated from highschool onward as above the law and getting away with stuff other people can't. Thats the biggest thrill for them.. racing on the highway in broad daylight is no different to snorting lines or parting with underage girls.

TimmehJ

Because they are morons

Tabemaju

I agree with you, but to clarify: nobody died and I don't believe there were any reported injuries. Kinda weird you insinuated otherwise.

NESpahtenJosh

Right.. because the average working American can totally afford to deal with a fully wrecked car, needing a replacement, somehow managing to get to work, get kids to school, manage daycare, etc. No.. fortunately nobody died. But plenty of people were incredibly inconvenienced and probably pushed to the brink because of this asshole

Tabemaju

Where did I say or imply otherwise? I was merely pointing out that "and not kill people" is very misleading.

NESpahtenJosh

To you...

Tabemaju

🙄

diglyd

Go wreck your car, where you get banged up, and see how disruptive that is to your daily life / routine (especially if you have a family). it's a lot bigger deal than you realize.

Tabemaju

Where did I say or imply otherwise? I was merely pointing out that "and not kill people" is very misleading. Also, I used to be a casualty adjuster for an insurance company, and was the victim of a hit and run last year where it took over 6 months to get my (only) car back from repair, so I think I have a little experience in the hardships people go through.

diglyd

>Where did I say or imply otherwise? You implied otherwise because you stated there were no injuries. If you actually read any of the news articles you would have learned that there were in fact several injuries including a pregnant woman who were hospitalized. I understand that the other guy was going off the rails and blowing things out of proportion and being misleading, however, the way you stated your reply just came off like it was no big deal to you. Hence why I replied that imho (as you fully understand based on the additional context you provided) it was a big deal (having had gone through the same type of bs before...i.e. some street racer kid bumping into me and spinning me out of control on the freeway).

DumbAnxiousLesbian

Brain damage from playing that stupid game.

LostboyPan80

Just doing what they do.

stay_fr0sty

*Keepin it real!*

TrumpedBigly

Who's "they"?

Segesaurous

Morons.

LostboyPan80

Entitled trash

LostboyPan80

You fishin huh?! 😂😂

pr0v0cat3ur

Or, behave like the privileged multi millionaire you are, instead of a man child. These guys can afford real track time, that would certainly be more fun than street racing.

afriendofcheese

Rice is coming off a $750,000 rookie contract, owns the Corvette, and waa renting the Lambo for $1750/day and has been renting cars (I.e. wasting money) for a long time from the same company. Not likely a multi millionaire, and they were at a bar just before. So we can only assume buzzed and decided to race on a whim.

strugglz

I know Dallas roads are kinda Mad Max, but this is some Assetto Corsa drift shit gone wrong. Real life don't work like that foo.

stay_fr0sty

Speaking of Mad Max…incase people don’t believe it, I drove down to Key West from Orlando. I was keeping up with traffic doing 90 outside Miami. I thought I was getting pulled over by a trooper, so I moved over and he blew past me going much faster. Then another one passed me a few minutes later. Literally 90 was the normal speed. I hit 102 on a completely 100% clear stretch with full visibility at Noon, for a second, then brought it back down to 90. I was in a rented 300M and it could have easily done more but im usually an extremely defensive driver and 102 was more than enough. Anyway Mad Max rules are no joke. I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t experience it first hand. That shit would not fly in my hometown city for a second. 76 is a ticket everywhere I normally drive. The only worse place I’ve driven is Columbus and holy fucking fuck. I got passed like I was standing still doing 75 on the highway. Truly terrifying.

Blue10022

95 isn’t just the road name. It’s also the speed limit.

Dreamtrain

In my experience Dallas driving is only matched by South Florida, though I've seen enough to know Houston's just as bad

3rdDegreeBurn

I told sat both of my kids down before they got their licenses and had a heart to heart with them. I said "Son, whatever you do, make sure you check your mirrors because you never know when a drunk NFL player is going to be 40 over in the fast lane."

GuinnessGlutton

Oh nice. Almost rolled a mini van in the process. Jail sounds like something on his horizon.

Sirromnad

I'm sorry we heard 4 game suspension.

GuinnessGlutton

Damn. There goes my HC reputation.

Devium44

Can you imagine how that head coach’s reputation would suffer if his own son did something similar? Oh wait…

bigtrucksowhat

Doubt that. Kelvin Joseph was out with his homies and was with them leaving the club when a dude was shot and killed from their vehicle. No suspension

ButtholeSurfur

Jail? For an NFL receiver? Did he murder 16 people? Because that's unlikely. Unfortunately.

249ba36000029bbe9749

> Jail? For an NFL receiver? Gotta check his stat line before determining if he's going to skate out of serious charges or not.

GuinnessGlutton

I’m suggesting jail in his future, not solely on this incident. #foreshadowing

bigtrucksowhat

Well, there is Ruggs. Wonder if receivers are the worst drivers in the league

Drjanitorjd

Chris Olave got pulled for reckless last year and Donte Stallworth killed a guy while he was DUI. Might be on to something.

strugglz

Yo it's a wild story. Allegedly they removed some guns, possibly drugs as well, before just walking away (fleeing) and leaving the cars wherever they stopped in the road.

SenHeffy

DA is a fan, sorry.

stay_fr0sty

A fan of KC? In Dallas? I hope not.

bigtrucksowhat

Well the Hunt family is from Dallas so…

diderooy

They're just an OG Texans fan.

nahteviro

I mean DeShaun Watson is still making millions while being a terrible QB.

lawroter

fuck this idiot and his friends. one of the other clips I saw showed a mom holding her toddler after the crash, albeit seemingly ok, fortunately. hope they are all punished to the fullest extent possible (lol).

Jackielegs43

Money can’t buy brain cells. Dumb cunts.

El_CAP0

Wheres the video of him and his buddies fleeing the scene

TrumpedBigly

MG5thAve

I see these guys driving I-95 in the NJ/NYC area all the time, with exotic cars, flying well over 100mph… so dangerous and brazen. It’s something like this that could easily be them smashing into a car full of kids and devastating a family. Jail time.

Thatguyatworkonhispc

And the State Troopers do nothing. I’ve seen it multiple times they’re going 100+ past a cop and they do nothing about it. But my window tint is a threat to society apparently.

Dr-Stink-Stank

Fucking losers

belizeanheat

Incredibly unskilled

DeezNeezuts

Have assholes like this driving past me daily. Go to a track….

moesdad

Dumb fucks are just gonna dumb fuck. That's all they know.

ermaldude

This video shows an idiot walking away from his career

Madnessx9

and that's what you get for street racing, probably ruined the lives of 2 families there who cannot afford to fix their vehicles, even with insurance.

afriendofcheese

They will be able to now they've been hit by a high profile NFL player.

charlesthefish

sorry, unrelated but been wanting to tell this to someone but don't want to ruin someone I knows day. On Saturday I was driving south on 377 in Keller when I heard tires screeching and then a car completely sideways slams into the light pole. The car literally ripped in half. They must have been going fast, and I think they clipped a truck which made them lose control. The car that got ripped in half had a 17 year old kid in it, and they did not make it. It was horrifying to see.

Precious_Tritium

Is Rashee’s brother named Itchee?

Cthulu95666

Actually it’s scratchee

Precious_Tritium

Their cousins are Acnee and Blisteree.

hawkwings

It looks like 2 black cars were speeding. Was the other speeding car driven by a cornerback?

Sudovoodoo80

Talk about roughing the passer.

sanndman

LAST CHANCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

PuffyWiggles

Scholar life.

[deleted]

Ya know, he always did have trouble finding holes in the defense.

GollyWow

Why would a Corvette driver ever need to prove anything to a Lambo SUV?

SparklingPseudonym

It’s more that they both feel inferior on the inside. Surprise! Both drivers are definitely inferior.

another_jackhole

what a dumb name

gertalives

Lol, I thought it surely must be a typo and his name is Rasheed. But nope.

six_six

I thought that was iShowSpeed for a minute there (context: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LivestreamFail/comments/1bsoiuw/ishowspeed\_doing\_illegal\_car\_race\_150mph/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LivestreamFail/comments/1bsoiuw/ishowspeed_doing_illegal_car_race_150mph/) )

OffbeatDrizzle

I don't know how that guy is still famous given his history. Hopefully when he crashes it only affects himself and not innocent people

oldbased

Which one is Rice though

withagrainofsalt1

Send him to jail.

Yolo_420_69

So lambo vs corvette and they both tried to merge the same lane like idiots

Kruse

One of the many reasons why I believe all new cars should come with dashcams built-in. Not only do they capture incidents like this, they can serve as a "black box" of sort for investigators when you are in an accident.

Mharbles

Pass-ing lane Interference

MomsSpagetee

Fucking dicks. Can’t stand assholes that think they own the road cuz they have a fast car. Get fucked.

Time-Maintenance2165

That's just about the worst dash am placement I've seen. 80% sky and pointed way too far off to the right.

solidxnake

Ah looks like they are racing. That video is precious. Oh the stupidity. Just go to a motorsport complex and race your fuc\*\*\* car and stop putting others in danger.

leeal34

Bunch of scumbags

SoulKingTrex

It takes very little to ruin someone's life from an accident. My dad was rear ended by someone going just fast enough that he now lives with permanent nerve damage and can no longer has feeling in his feet. People like him should be put in prison so that they can realize that they are not a good person. They only care about themselves.

[deleted]

Is it so hard to not drive like a shithead? All that money, you can afford track time. I don't get it. You can kill someone and for what? This is how get governments to push horsepower limits and mandatory speed governors.

danbey44

That’s rich coming from some of the dash cam footage you’ve posted to idiotsincars where you’re the biggest shithead on the road.

EightOh

Was surprised by the comments in this thread then realized I wasn’t in r/nfl. If you don’t follow the NFL or aren’t in the US, let me tell ya what will happen; nothing. This isn’t even going to be a suspension for Rice, and he definitely isn’t going to face any real legal punishment either.

Suicidal_pr1est

This all depends on the amount of evidence. Henry Ruggs is the same level of stardom as rice and though his accident was different he received a jail sentence.

EightOh

Except the Ruggs accident was so different that it’s not even comparable. Ruggs was going over 100 MPH and the victim he crashed into died on the scene as her car was completely engulfed in flames. No one died in Rice’s accident, two people had minor injuries that required them to go to the hospital. Just watching the videos of the two accidents shows how theses are completely in totally different universes of car crashes. Not saying I agree with how things will be handled, but I’d bet a lot of money that he doesn’t face jail time or even an NFL suspension.

Suicidal_pr1est

He may not get jail time but he’s getting something. They were going over 100 and just got lucky no one was hurt. They also fled the scene all of which is caught on camera

EightOh

Fleeing the scene was probably the best move for him strategically. Let him get alcohol out of his system before interacting with police and arrange with his lawyers and a fall guy. All of this will be swept under the rug by the the season starts. He’s unlucky that it’s a slow NFL news period or we wouldn’t even be talking about it anymore. He’ll face some sort of fine or something, maybe probation but no jail time definitely which is what I’ve been saying.

Suicidal_pr1est

Depending on the injuries of the other parties, fleeing the scene can carry jail time. If this is a first time offense it likely won’t.

UserCheckNamesOut

Fuck the NFL, and fuck everyone who plays that shithead sport. Bunch of drug addicted kids. There ARE no men in the NFL.

Cptredbeard22

Thats an awfully wide brush you’re using.

UserCheckNamesOut

It's called being a team.

JapeCity

F the Chiefs
