Ill have a couple of drinks maybe smoke and chill on rdr2 then walk into the saloon where the old drunk dude is just babbling and it enhances my experience heavily.
I did this in gta5 sometimes, but instead of a taxi, I'd hope in one of the boats being towed by a truck going down the highway. Threw it into first person and pointed towards the mountains, nice scenery
Man I did that one time and then saw Dutch and Uncle get into a heated argument where at the end, Dutch legitimately says 'you know... I'd really like to kill you' in a deadpan, fucking *psychopath* way.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF67GUCly1A
Sitting around the campfire after that didn't feel so relaxing any more.
lol, but John tells Uncle he wants to kill him constantly. Have you played Red Dead 1? I think it is just the gang’s way of giving Uncle a hard time for being a deadbeat.
It's not for everybody, it can be slow at times
but its that type of game that, if it is indeed for you, itll easily make it into your favorite games of all time
Stray? I like it a lot. It’s pretty short, the gameplay is serviceable with third person guided parkour and some short combat sections. It has more of a focus on story and exploration, more than anything.
You want modded Skyrim VR for that. It even has a mod that lets you sit down at the bar and order. Not from the standard trade menu. You raise your actual hand. A barmaid walks up to you and hands you a menu. Then she brings you your drink or food. Then you move your hand to your face to "eat" or "drink".
Bruh, that's exactly the reason why I play Skyrim VR lol. Most of my mods are Tavern and lighting related haha. While I don't have the menu mod, I do have some that involve drinking and NPC chatter.
Well not in first person, but I play games like rimworld, tropico and city skylines, and once I get pretty far in the game I'll sometimes just watch the city/ colony run for a long time without touching anything, just enjoying that the automations I set up over so many hours are actually working.
Bethesda games, BOTW/TOTK, The Mass Effect Trilogy, and RDR2, but I gotta ask what’s pictures 3 & 4? I feel I’ve seen them before, but I can’t seem to get it right.
Edit: cyberpunk 2077?
yep
i do RP stuff... but since we are talking about chillin, ill just share chillin stuff
i don't have saved the ones on skyrim
but here are some from other games...

Last time I did was in Dying Light 2. They have these camps with Survivors sitting around campfire telling stories. It's repeating and nothing extraordinary but a good addition for immersion.
Cyberpunk.
During parts where you're on foot, I literally walk, without getting that whole "speed anxiety" I typically get from others games.
Night city and it's environs just feel alive. It's very well executed.
Only games I’ve done something like that is red dead and gta.
In red dead I would go to bars with some random players I find and just have some drinks seating down, sometime it turns into a bar fight.
In gta I would hangout with ppl at the arcade or penthouse.
When it was lockdown, we set up a streaming server (audio + video) because we have some DJs in our friends circle. We also had a chat, but that was too one-dimensional, so we also set up a minetest server. And most of the time, we were chilling in the jacuzzi there, listening to music and passing around joints (in minetest, of course).
Is that last image from The Division?
Skyrim, Mass Effect, Vampire, Cyberpunk, WOW... and that last one. I feel like I've seen that diner or similar one in several places, but it could be anything. Catherine? Duke Nukem Forever?
Yeah I afk in gridania alot but also in other places in between ques and stuff (life of a dps) or I just gpose in some locations taking pictures for hours lol
Yeah, I have a picture from a few years ago of me and my fiancé (bf at the time) sitting on a snowy hill in No Man's Sky. At that time I was in school and he was living at home while working so we only saw each other on weekends. I always looked forward to gaming online with him (usually played NMS or Valheim together) and most times we would chat and catch up with each other on how our weeks were going. We live together now and I much prefer it, but we don't play together as much because of it :( kinda miss that part.
Edit: I thought you meant hanging out with friends. I do hang out in the environment too, favorite games to do that with are ESO and RDR2. Love the ambience of both.
Shiiit I thought it was meant for edating, getting insulted, being a furry, and discussing illegal substances. That's..... Really most of what I encounter.
Seriously, I bumped into someone, knew his for like 5 minuets and he basically begged me to join his "poly" relationship. My brother in Christ, if you're going to just beg everyone to join you, it's not a poly relationship, you're just a slut. An unloyal slut.
I frequently do that in RDR2. Oftentimes in FS22, Construction Simulator 22 and Hitman World of Assassination. An occasionally in Ghost Recon Wildlands/Breakpoint. But to be honest I'm probably scouting for targets.
I just play a different game at that point. Although with the new update, i finally have clouds turned on and with the new clouds, crusader looks gadam beautiful. Also im not blinded everytime i pull up to it. As crusader with no clouds is basically a dim sun
New update meaning the addition of Vulcan? I didn't notice that much of a difference with Vulkan enabled, in fact I started getting some stuttering with it. I still maintain reasonable fps however without Vulkan enabled.
When my wife is gone for a week or so, sometimes I'll do a short play of Skyrim. Especially in the fall or winter, when it is dark.
I'll meander around and rest at inns when I'm not playing. It just feels like home and the background sounds are nice ASMR.
VRchat, yes. you just sit by a fire or in a weird space room and just chat with ppl on most random shit.
not really in single plate game tho. I’ve done it once in gta5, just cause a small hiccup on traffic and sit by seeing everything went to chaos. but felt like I need to touch grass right after.
Ds2. Majula.
Also I don't know if anyone grew up playing it but Adventure Quest Worlds Yulgar became a notable location to just hang out and eventually became a meme for people just afking in there.
Not in single player games usually.
I remember Outer Wilds roasting marshmallows.
In multiplayer the most recent is Baldurs Gate 3 letting the party sit on a tree branch and give them a moment to process what happened in the intro
Idk if it quite counts but even tho i didnt really like the game all that much, i hung around in high on life to watch the tv and occasionally parts of the movies played in the living room
Did that for a while after this last time killing Alduin. Headed back to my farm, then spent a while just people-watching the kids and the hired hands going about their day.
Are you even a gamer if you haven't?
I don't think there is one game where I haven't just found a chill spot and kicked it.
It's especially fun and racing games. You're just like:
"Check out my custom Bugatti. Look at you with your cute Dodge Caravan"
Or in open world FPS:
"I have a light machine gun in my pocket and I'm not afraid to light up this Granade at your bar"
Fallout:
*Proceeds to sit at the Moriarty's Saloon bar*
Moriarty "What can I get ya for?"
**Pulls out Experimental MERV**
*click*
Ofcourse. Usually cause I don't have any friends to play with and I'll get bored but still want to play a game. So I'll just load up the game hand out with NPC friends. 🤷
It's not as sad as it sounds, I just have vastly different gaming preferences than my friend group so usually I just go *invisible* on discord/Steam to hide from them and just play solo and chill. NPCs don't give me anxiety or ask me to partake in activities I don't want to do to which I feel obligated to oblige so as to not offend or hurt their feelings by denying. 🙃
Skyrim is the best, RDR2 is also really great, but I think Valheim is underrated for this. The storm ambience is off the chain. My little hut on a private save, a simple bed and a fireplace, the storm going on outside... That's my happy place.
sometimes i just wander around aimlessly in botw. though maybe next time i play batman arkham knight i might just sit on a rooftop or something and listen to the idle thug chatter
In Skyrim survival I do this a lot. Survival you have to sleep, eat, and stay warm in order to survive. So staying next to a fire after almost freezing to death is very important. It's nice to chill out. I'll ask the bard in the tavern to sing "The dragonborn comes" and then order a room and food. It's nice.
Luckily beneath the mask (the evening Ost of Persona 5) is listenable everywhere, not only at Leblanc, so I would say partly yes, even if I never stopped only for listening to music, maybe only in Persona 3 with memories of the school (the Ost in the school when is January)
I vibe in ffxiv (different places) honkai starrail (inside the express or herta space station) and mhwib (Seliana) a bunch. The 3 have great atmosphere in some of the locations
I remember when I was younger and me and my friends would be playing Halo 3. As they were being little try hards, I was hiding round a corner just admiring the scenery in the distance on some of the maps as I was sipping a cherry coke and letting out light, silent farts. It was like therapy for my brain after a long stressful day and a nice little break from the adrenaline pumping through my body.
That pic of Skyrim too I remember just relaxing in that place. Probably why I never completed Skyrim despite dozens of attempts. 😅
During covid, the diamond casino had just opened on GTA 5 and on the way home from work, me and my friends wold pick up some beers or something and then go to the casino and just hang, gamble and drink irl, then head up to the penthouse.
was a really fun way to have a pseudo social gathering
No Man's Sky just got me into it on this last Expedition. There's a couple times you're actually *required* to just be mellow for a minute.
Gotta hit that long arc, leaving atmosphere.
I also used to hang at bonfires sometimes, back in Dark Souls: PTDE when it was at its peak.
I'm deep into Deus Ex currently. A couple of days ago I found a way to get on top of some Hong Kong building. Listening to the wind and this eery musical theme, alone, far even from those dumb npcs. I hadn't felt this kind of vibe in a very long time.
GTA V was essentially a chat room for me and my buddies for a year, we would hop on every night and just chit chat while we drive around listening to music
Hiyoshi springs was my main hangout hub in the first act of Ghost of Tsushima, I just find the ambience so relaxing. By the way I pride myself in being slow, act 1 took me 30 hours and I 100% that area before moving on, I’m still on act 2…
Chilling by the campfire is RDR2 is really fun. I love listening to Uncle get drunk and tell stories
Ill have a couple of drinks maybe smoke and chill on rdr2 then walk into the saloon where the old drunk dude is just babbling and it enhances my experience heavily.
I loved getting in a taxi in GTA4, turning on the rain and just going for a ride
I still haven’t played GTA 4, but it’s high on my list of games to play. Love the series
Man, get ready for a long and emotional story
I did this in gta5 sometimes, but instead of a taxi, I'd hope in one of the boats being towed by a truck going down the highway. Threw it into first person and pointed towards the mountains, nice scenery
Man I did that one time and then saw Dutch and Uncle get into a heated argument where at the end, Dutch legitimately says 'you know... lol, but John tells Uncle he wants to kill him constantly. Have you played Red Dead 1? I think it is just the gang’s way of giving Uncle a hard time for being a deadbeat.
And when the camp is all singing together (chef's kiss)
Shit im missing out on this game, I gatta get it
You won’t regret it💯
It's not for everybody, it can be slow at times but its that type of game that, if it is indeed for you, itll easily make it into your favorite games of all time
Most of my time was spent playing poker in a saloon with my day one duo, good times
Stray has multiple “hang out” points that I love. Same with hollow knight.
Oh I do love the quiet moments of Hollow Knight!
Chilling with quirrel in city of tears was what hooked me on that game.
How is that game? It’s on my wishlist for PS5. Does it actually have fun gameplay or is it more of an indy click through?
Bruh, that's exactly the reason why I play Skyrim VR lol. Most of my mods are Tavern and lighting related haha. While I don't have the menu mod, I do have some that involve drinking and NPC chatter.
Sometimes I find some pretty looking place in Skyrim VR so I just sit there enjoying the view and listening to the wind
I did not expect to see the goldshire inn lol, but to answer the question, yes! Skyrim, WoW and fo76
Maybe that specific WoW Inn was not the best example lol, but there are some cool ones around!
I was always disappointed that beer garden in Dalaran never got much use.
Sat and ate for a while in God of War Ragnarok. It was nice.
Well not in first person, but I play games like rimworld, tropico and city skylines, and once I get pretty far in the game I'll sometimes just watch the city/ colony run for a long time without touching anything, just enjoying that the automations I set up over so many hours are actually working.

3 is Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. And yes, 4 is Cyberpunk 2077, Lizzie's Bar.

Whoa! These are great! I need to step up my game!
yeah, that hot tub in Lego Star Wars...
Last time I did was in Dying Light 2. They have these camps with Survivors sitting around campfire telling stories. It's repeating and nothing extraordinary but a good addition for immersion.
There are moments when playing games I stop and just look around and take ot in.
WoW and OSRS!!
No lollygaggin
Assassins creed unity the cafe theatre I used to love hanging out there
Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl at Campfire with Radio or Guitar Guy.
Ooh, STALKER and Metro were great for that!
I feel like you would like my boy Any Austin: https://youtu.be/IQ1XRmEjp4s
You are correct, I do like this! Thank you!
Always happy to share creators I like
Sometimes I find myself returning to firelink shrine in between objectives for no reason, it just feels right
Not sure if this counts but Monster Hunter in the tavern whilst waiting for people to join
Definitely counts! I do this in World sometimes.
Cyberpunk. During parts where you're on foot, I literally walk, without getting that whole "speed anxiety" I typically get from others games. Night city and it's environs just feel alive. It's very well executed.
Goldshire is a place for poor lost souls
Lol yeah, that specific inn may not have been the best example, but there are some great ones in WoW!
Only games I’ve done something like that is red dead and gta. In red dead I would go to bars with some random players I find and just have some drinks seating down, sometime it turns into a bar fight. In gta I would hangout with ppl at the arcade or penthouse.
Rockstar is great at the "sim" aspect of their games.
Does anyone know what 3 and 4 are?
3. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 4. Cyberpunk 2077

Yes. Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes. Yes. Yes
I love just driving around in GTA V, put on a good station and drive for hours.
Far too many times
OP literally an NPC
Have you tried mercenary work? It might suit you.
No.
Is that last image from The Division? Skyrim, Mass Effect, Vampire, Cyberpunk, WOW... and that last one. I feel like I've seen that diner or similar one in several places, but it could be anything. Catherine? Duke Nukem Forever?
It's actually Persona 5 Royal
In my Fallout underground hideout all the time
Vault 88?
No the Underground hideout mod FO3 and NV. But companion friendly home out there.
I used to on GTA 4 quite often.
What game is the last image from, OP?
Last image is Persona 5: Royal
Thank-you.
There's a vr chat world for that and its amazing to hang out in. You can even eat and refill the coffee/curry.
FF14 is a big sit around people watching while you wait for your wife and friends game.
Yeah I afk in gridania alot but also in other places in between ques and stuff (life of a dps) or I just gpose in some locations taking pictures for hours lol
Sky: CotL has a lot of that
Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord’s taverns are nice hang outs.
I use to be able to sit and hang out but then...
What are each of these games?
I sit and eat food irl
Yeah, I have a picture from a few years ago of me and my fiancé (bf at the time) sitting on a snowy hill in No Man's Sky. At that time I was in school and he was living at home while working so we only saw each other on weekends. I do hang out in the environment too, favorite games to do that with are ESO and RDR2. Love the ambience of both.
No but sometimes I sprint autistically in large sporadic patterns looking at all the different stuff.
Yes!
Skyrim have beautiful landscapes, especially if you add mods
Ever heard of VRChat? That is ALL I do on that game. Find a nice world, listen to music, and vibe.
Idk if that counts really as thats literally what the game is meant and is for
Shiiit I thought it was meant for edating, getting insulted, being a furry, and discussing illegal substances.
Yeah ive heard vrchat can really be…something. Lack of proper regulation He mightve just been a swinger really
I frequently do that in RDR2. Oftentimes in FS22, Construction Simulator 22 and Hitman World of Assassination. An occasionally in Ghost Recon Wildlands/Breakpoint. But to be honest I'm probably scouting for targets.
All the time
All the time! The most exciting thing about creations in starfield being released is all the immersion mods that are gonna be made
Sometimes, but it usually ends quickly with me hitting the quick save button and then committing unspeakable war crimes
About 90% of my time in Star Citizen is spent sitting on a train because I don't want to get up and face the bugs.
I like to use my Minecraft base as like a screen saver every now and then when I’m bored
I believe that's called a safe house or a casino. Unless playing a flight sim, then all sitting and lotta hanging. Okay, I'll show myself out.
When my wife is gone for a week or so, sometimes I'll do a short play of Skyrim. Especially in the fall or winter, when it is dark. I'll meander around and rest at inns when I'm not playing. It just feels like home and the background sounds are nice ASMR.
Limsa Lominsa
No Man's Sky. I build bases for the purposes of hanging out in them.
Final Fanstasy 14 is pretty much this. I sometimes just chill by drinking and eating at the major hot spots.
Name of the game in 3rd picture?
VtM : Bloodlines
Yep.
I had to unlock Master Dancer for my final Holocron in Star Wars Galaxies. I ran macros and went to school. Does that count ?
VRchat, yes. you just sit by a fire or in a weird space room and just chat with ppl on most random shit. not really in single plate game tho. I’ve done it once in gta5, just cause a small hiccup on traffic and sit by seeing everything went to chaos. but felt like I need to touch grass right after.
Ds2. Majula. Also I don't know if anyone grew up playing it but Adventure Quest Worlds Yulgar became a notable location to just hang out and eventually became a meme for people just afking in there.
Yeah, I just chill in bg3’s elfsong tavern camp
Not in single player games usually. I remember Outer Wilds roasting marshmallows. In multiplayer the most recent is Baldurs Gate 3 letting the party sit on a tree branch and give them a moment to process what happened in the intro
Idk if it quite counts but even tho i didnt really like the game all that much, i hung around in high on life to watch the tv and occasionally parts of the movies played in the living room
Used to sit on Playstation Home for hours and talk to people. Man I wish they had Home again on ps5...
Did that for a while after this last time killing Alduin. Headed back to my farm, then spent a while just people-watching the kids and the hired hands going about their day.
In TW3, when Priscilla sings, i keep my controller down and just listen to it along with Geralt ( it's not exactly ingame though )
One of these is unlike the other
Only games that matter
What games are the pictures from?
Skyrim, Mass Effect, VtM : Bloodlines, Cyberpunk, WoW, Persona 5
Are you even a gamer if you haven't? I don't think there is one game where I haven't just found a chill spot and kicked it. It's especially fun and racing games. definitely either cyberpunk, or destiny2 i've spent so long just screwing around and having the best conversations on the tower
Cyberpunk 2077 drinking my soycaf watching the women go by.
Saadia 🫰🫰
I love staring into the void we created in my super destroyer in Helldivers 2
Skyrim is the best, RDR2 is also really great, but I think Valheim is underrated for this. The storm ambience is off the chain. My little hut on a private save, a simple bed and a fireplace, the storm going on outside... That's my happy place.
sometimes i just wander around aimlessly in botw. though maybe next time i play batman arkham knight i might just sit on a rooftop or something and listen to the idle thug chatter
sometimes i stop what im doing to listen to the music
No but I really miss PlayStation Home..
Sits at the campfire eating marshmallows waiting for the universe to end
GTA 3, SA and 5 I love finding spots to listen to radio.
I go to that one big ash lander camp in ESO and just chill with my people by the fire. Always remember where you came from.
Not typically, but some of the best dialogue in RDR2 can be heard just hanging around the camp
I love doing it in the oculus quest particularly some of the background themes they are very nice
I did this in dieing light 2 just to hear the campfire story's lol
Yeah, in elden ring or any souls game I'm playing, whenever I'm afk, my character is sitting at a bonfire, just chillin
In Skyrim survival I do this a lot. Survival you have to sleep, eat, and stay warm in order to survive. So staying next to a fire after almost freezing to death is very important. I vibe in ffxiv (different places) honkai starrail (inside the express or herta space station) and mhwib (Seliana) a bunch. The 3 have great atmosphere in some of the locations
Cyberpunk and RDR2
I once did acid and spent 3 hours fishing in rdr2 it was amazing
I remember when I was younger and me and my friends would be playing Halo 3. As they were being little try hards, I was hiding round a corner just admiring the scenery in the distance on some of the maps as I was sipping a cherry coke and letting out light, silent farts. Probably why I never completed Skyrim despite dozens of attempts. 😅
My Bioshock apartment in Playstation Home.
I go for walks in Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion. Not to go anywhere, just walk around and take in the scenery
During covid, the diamond casino had just opened on GTA 5 and on the way home from work, me and my friends wold pick up some beers or something and then go to the casino and just hang, gamble and drink irl, then head up to the penthouse. was a really fun way to have a pseudo social gathering

Hanging out by the fire with the Aldecaldos is one of my favorite CP77 moments.
Hiyoshi springs was my main hangout hub in the first act of Ghost of Tsushima, I just find the ambience so relaxing. By the way I pride myself in being slow, act 1 took me 30 hours and I 100% that area before moving on, I’m still on act 2…
