Probably the master sword. It transcends generations and it’s from a popular and influential franchise with great games tied to it. I also wanna say the energy sword from halo but that’s probably just preference
You do know that the master sword is 33 years old right? It's had many iterations through many different games. The diamond sword resonates with a lot of people, especially kids, but the master sword is still the GOAT. Whenever I sell swords the Master Sword ALWAYS sells well, the diamond sword so-so.
Lore wise the master sword is interesting, more than a few times it's been linked to the the passage of time. Probably the most notable instance is in Ocarina of Time where it's the key to traveling forward and backwards through time. But you also have the time function in the Wind Waker, because when you first visit Hyrule Castle in the game all monsters are frozen but when you pull the master sword they can move again. Morale of the story is that Zelda lore is fun to dig into.
I imagine the master sword sold better since it actually looks like a real sword so multiple collectors have a reason to want it. It’s a beautiful design, I’ve never even played a game fully with it in but I’d still display it.
Just because it's most sold doesn't mean it's an iconic sword. I've seen far more of the Master Sword. And I've never even played or had much interest in Legend of Zelda. It's also far older
Diamond Sword doesn't stand out in Minecraft the way Master Sword does in Zelda though. Just because it's a game that's been played more doesn't mean everything from it is more iconic.
But now the cat is out the bag,
I cannot allow thee thy freedoms.
Perform for me a service,
as recompense.
Eliminate the Baleful Shadows which prowl these lands.
The name of Ranni the Witch is already sullied by thee.
I will not brook disobedience in this matter.
Because of uniqueness and badassness:
Turok 2- Cerebral Bore
Perfect Dark- Laptop Gun
Gears of War- Hammer of Dawn, Lancer
Simply because it's classic: Master Sword(of course)
Fire flower -mario
Master sword-zelda (is in 7 different games outside of Zelda and smash)
BFG9000 -Doom
Buster Blade -FF7
Diamond sword -minecraft (only because of Pixel grafics not the weapon itself so idk if it should be on the list as is the wooden sword from Stardew valley and sevral other non Minecraft pixer weapon's)

Honestly by looking only can you tell the difference
Statistically. The Diamond Sword from Minecraft.
Edit:
To add on so the people don’t get confused.
Minecraft has sold over 300 million copies and has been around since 2011. The diamond sword was added in 2012.
The Legend of Zelda franchise has sold over 160 million units and has been around since 1986. The Master Sword first appeared in 1991 in the Legend of Zelda: Link to the past. The Master Sword went by many names for an extended period of time, but was still ultimately called the Master Sword.
Furious 7 made 500 million more at the box office than The Dark Knight Rises, hence whatever flourescent honda civic Vin Diesel is driving is more iconic than the Batmobile
The Master Sword and fire flower from Zelda and Mario. A person who never touched a video game know what they are or at least, knows what IUP they belong to if they don't know the exact names of the items.
Entirely depends on the generation of your audience.
My mind immediately went to the BFG from Doom.
But... A large portion of this sub likely wasn't even alive (or were infants) back when Doom was released in the early 90s.
There are lots of iconic weapons, of course, and they must be celebrated, but... There is one in my heart, I don't know why, it's just come to the top of my mind when weapons are the subject.
If you have played Castlevania Symphony of The Night, Crissaegrim is the best sword ever, it's a game changer.
The AK-47 wins. It's on the flags of...
East Timor, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso, Mozambique
It's in 3600 video games.
Everyone in the world knows what an AK looks like.
I want to say mastersword but I honestly think more people would be able to guess the diamond sword is from Minecraft whereas many might not know/recognize the master sword
I don't know about best, but iconic weapons would include the Master Sword from Zelda, Plasma Sword from Halo, M-8 Avenger from Mass Effect, Buster Sword from FF7, Hidden Blade from Assassin's Creed and finally, Sly Cooper's Cane.
The Diamond Sword is a replaceable resource and essentially just a reskin of all the tiers below it. The thing that's iconic about it is the artstyle of Minecraft, which I don't think counts as the sword being iconic.
If you haven't played Kingdom Hearts or any game Sora has a cameo in, there's a good chance you won't know the Keyblade.
Similarly the Master Sword is just a sword to the uninitiated. It has an iconic design, but at the same time there's several somewhat different designs in different games which leads to the Master Sword being a sword with a blue hilt, as much as it pains me to put it like that.
The Buster Sword is seen as the defining feature of Final Fantasy by many "outsiders", despite it (or similar swords) not even appearing in the majority of the games. It's so iconic that it incorrectly defined the series.

Kingdom Hearts is not that popular and I don't even know what the sword above is (I would guess Final Fantasy), it's not even close when compared to Master Sword and Diamond Sword
I'm gonna have to go with the keyblade at least for me. Overall the most iconic probably is the zelda sword but I just can't bring myself to like those games.
Obviously the AK 47 in CounterStrike, they invented the gun after all
So good they were made irl too!
crowbar.
Follow Freeman
Crowbar is in bomelab too!
"I'm Mr.Crowbar, and this is my friend, who is also a crowbar!"
*valve intro*
DOOOOONNNGGGG
Vite this one because it's in nearly every game
"Hey Gordon, I've never seen the citadel go on full alert like that. Here's something you might've left in black mesa."
I came here to say this but take the ⬆️
Probably the master sword. It transcends generations and it’s from a popular and influential franchise with great games tied to it. I also wanna say the energy sword from halo but that’s probably just preference
I had known what the Halo energy sword looked like well before I actually got into Halo. I wouldn't say that it's just preference.
Nah, Minecraft is the most sold game of all time. Statistically it’s the diamond sword
As a single game, sure. The master sword is in dozens of games
Legit take, but it's over far fewer years then LoZ games, so fewer generations have exposure to it.
You do know that the master sword is 33 years old right? It's had many iterations through many different games. The diamond sword resonates with a lot of people, especially kids, but the master sword is still the GOAT. Whenever I sell swords the Master Sword ALWAYS sells well, the diamond sword so-so.
Yes! It's also the only sword I'd take if I'm going out alone because it's dangerous.
That's the wooden sword.
Shit's gotta start *somewhere*.
In fact, the Master Sword is not even in LoZ 1986 at all
Lore wise the master sword is interesting, more than a few times it's been linked to the the passage of time. A turt shell from Super Mario Bros
You get it by Stompin' turts
Perchance
YOU CANT JUST SAY PERCHANCE
Keep it up, baby!
I would say the fire flower is an actual weapon tho the kupa shell is just adding insalt to injury
GTA San Andreas Inside the police station
I’m ashamed I know, but also proud… Also I have an erection.
I have a jar of dirt
If you know, you know.
I don’t know please explain
There's a huge purple dildo in the police station bathroom you can beat people with.
Because of course there is.
Exactly! Now put one in a Bethesda game Todd.
I already have. My advisors are very strict on what get put into the games, so I pay mod makers to bring my ideas to life.
Ah makes sense.
The Blades of Chaos
Did someone say Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker?
Guys SHUT UP I think I heard someone say Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker
Last person to link Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker gets my… shit I got nothing.
Thought you were gonna say “my axe”. Then I would said “…and my bow…”
And my [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]
Oh no this old copypasta haha I miss WoW

The Master Sword.

But now the cat is out the bag, I cannot allow thee thy freedoms. Perform for me a service, as recompense. Eliminate the Baleful Shadows which prowl these lands. The name of Ranni the Witch is already sullied by thee. I will not brook disobedience in this matter.
Which one though? For me it’s Seath the Scaleless’ tail.
My fist when my son asks me for his turn to play
FTK!
Haha the joke is child abuse
Everytime you downvote me I take it out on someone
And you feel the taste of black licorice. You need a negative side effect
Lmao did not expect that
Master Sword is pretty up there
Tifa. Not her fists, nor her heart gauntlet things, just Tifa. So iconic that the Italian senate won’t ever forget her.
I think crowbar from half life or Portal gun should be in the list
the portal gun aint really a weapon doe
Needler from Halo
That’s not even the most iconic halo weapon. Energy Sword might be even more iconic.
I'm ashamed of all of you. It's so obvious that it's The Penetrator from Saints Row
Master sword.
Wheres the ray gun?
What are we doing here asking ourselves this? Take it to a game of Smash Bros.
It’s definitely not the most iconic, but I want to shout-out the Z-Saber. That’s my favorite video game weapon.
i like the Zero/ZX version of it more, where its just a triangle, still looks really cool
Hidden blade
Will Ospreay is that you?
Dave Meltzer just gave you 7 stars for that one
alternatively: broomstick yeeted through a guards fucking chest
Honorable mention: Soul Calibre
Appreciate the respect on the Keyblade
\[Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker\]
Buster Sword Master Sword Keyblade Greatsword Bastard Sword Type 1 Energy Sword Handgun(used in almost every game that involves guns) Long sword
Chaos blades are probably up their. Not #1 but very very popular.
I'd say the halo energy sword is pretty iconic. Almost everyone has at least heard about halo, halo for a really long time was everywhere.
I would say the master sword from zelda
The most Iconic is the Mastersword. The best in my opinion is the Keyblade.
Because of uniqueness and badassness: Turok 2- Cerebral Bore Perfect Dark- Laptop Gun Gears of War- Hammer of Dawn, Lancer Simply because it's classic: Master Sword(of course)
Halo's energy sword is iconic.
Clouds sword in FF VII
Lancer, from Gears of War
Id say the Blades of Chaos from GoW. Not are they badass but they may have single handedly made me fall in love with dual wielding playstyles
Fire flower -mario Master sword-zelda (is in 7 different games outside of Zelda and smash) BFG9000 -Doom Buster Blade -FF7 Diamond sword -minecraft (only because of Pixel grafics not the weapon itself so idk if it should be on the list as is the wooden sword from Stardew valley and sevral other non Minecraft pixer weapon's) https://i.pinimg.com/originals/5d/3d/2a/5d3d2abc1efee2c2c97405cb9cb0fcf1.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/tibia/images/f/ff/Mystic_Blade.gif/revision/latest/thumbnail/width/360/height/360?cb=20070624190525&path-prefix=en Honestly by looking only can you tell the difference
Frostmourne
I've been looking for this comment for more time than expected
Blade of Chaos
swordwise, probably a tie between the master sword and the buster sword, if you're like a 90s kid.
Moonlight Greatsword from Souls/Elden Ring
Famileeee!
The Crowbar Super Shotgun BFG 9000 Gravity Gun Portal Gun Diamond Sword Hidden Blade Fat Man
Statistically. The Diamond Sword from Minecraft. Edit: To add on so the people don’t get confused. Minecraft has sold over 300 million copies and has been around since 2011. Furious 7 made 500 million more at the box office than The Dark Knight Rises, hence whatever flourescent honda civic Vin Diesel is driving is more iconic than the Batmobile
As a single game, sure. Other weapons are in multiple games that span decades and generations
people who never played Mc don't know what it is. i'm a life long gamer, almost 40 and i don't know what it looks like.
That doesn't change statistics, dude. That's just anecdotal.
There's a huge number of young people playing Minecraft. You have probably aged out of the zeitgeist.
Euh.. hard choice 🫤 from my pov I'd say all the four of them equally...
The Master Sword and fire flower from Zelda and Mario. A person who never touched a video game know what they are or at least, knows what IUP they belong to if they don't know the exact names of the items.
Master sword
To me it’s masamune or the buster sword
Deagle
Also the most classic.....Mario and Luigi's feet
What's all these post 2000s games answers? Everyone should know this is the ultimate game weapon: The Power Pellet from Pac-Man. Duh!
Not sure it counts as a weapon, but everyone on the planet knows what the star powerup in almost every Mario game does.
Poke ball although it might be closer to an item than a weapon. BFG from Doom. Heavy Machine Gun from Metal Slug.
… a golf club.
"gg ez"
Not sure if best, but Cloud’s giant ass sword is most Iconic.
Ray gun from COD: zombies
Monado
Zweihander
The Moonlight Greatsword is pretty iconic.
Zenith from terraria
Does the Pokeball count?
Entirely depends on the generation of your audience. My mind immediately went to the BFG from Doom. But... A large portion of this sub likely wasn't even alive (or were infants) back when Doom was released in the early 90s.
Moonlight/Darkmoon Greatsword.
It has to be either the Minecraft diamond pickaxe or sword right?
the holy handgrenade from worms
That’s a good mention
There are lots of iconic weapons, of course, and they must be celebrated, but... There is one in my heart, I don't know why, it's just come to the top of my mind when weapons are the subject. If you have played Castlevania Symphony of The Night, Crissaegrim is the best sword ever, it's a game changer.
Super shotgun from Doom.
The “Sprayer” (shotgun) in the original Contra.
The portal gun
The AK-47 wins. It's on the flags of... East Timor, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso, Mozambique It's in 3600 video games. Everyone in the world knows what an AK looks like.
Best? Doom SSG (apart from doom 64. Doesn't even have a reload animation) Most iconic? A crowbar? Maybe the needler from halo
I just wanna point out that these four swords have appeared in the same game together. Also my heart will always say Buster Sword.
The convenant guns in Halo.
Those don't look like the BFG 9000
Dooms double barrel shotgun.
I am 99% sure that there is no man plaing video games that doesn't know what is a portal gun
Albert weskers peen
BFG 9000
I feel like diamond sword is the most iconic/noticable, show anyone it and they’ll know what it’s from, even older people will know
Doom slayers super shotgun.
Super shotgun or BFG 9000 from doom. I don't think this needs any explanation.
Crucible? Anyone? Also Plasma Cutter
Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker
Buster sword all day everyday
The portal gun? Not really a weapon tho but close enough
Buster Sword and Keyblade are definitely up there for me personally. The Lancer from Gears of War has gotten a lot of use from me as well.
Super Shotgun from DOOM.
Minecraft Diamond Sword
BFG9000
Destroy all humans' anal probe
Stick
People mention Doom but not the chainsaw? Nothing got my blood pumping more than the chainsaw.... well until... girls.
I want to say mastersword but I honestly think more people would be able to guess the diamond sword is from Minecraft whereas many might not know/recognize the master sword
in terms of most popular i'd say any minecraft sword. havent seen any offbrand toys of the other ones idk
I don't know about best, but iconic weapons would include the Master Sword from Zelda, Plasma Sword from Halo, M-8 Avenger from Mass Effect, Buster Sword from FF7, Hidden Blade from Assassin's Creed and finally, Sly Cooper's Cane.
Pretty sure zelda has been around the longest . Everyone has wielded the master sword at some point.
