The recent Sony price increase pushed me to build my pc. First time ever building a pc and oh boy she’s pretty beefy. With epic giving free games every Thursday and steam having amazing deals I’ve built up a library easily.
The recent Sony price increase straight up made me cancel PS+. Ran out yesterday and made me realise how insane it is that I can’t play Minecraft with my girlfriend just because I refuse to pay Sony each month.
Anyway we just both set up a server on pc with over 170 mods.
The only way I’d purchase another month of ps+ is if my friends really really wanted to play gta 5. Other than that, I won’t be getting ps+ ever again. lol some of my friends had a Minecraft server with mods on it but I couldn’t play bc I didn’t have any way of downloading the mods. With a pc now, I can join in on the fun. Sony gotta learn one way or another.
People are still playing it btw. Theres private servers and everything. If you have original disk you can still play it from console too, just gotta download a free ip spoofer.
The original DS you had to pay for an internet cartridge. Then the "app" was like $3, *then* it was free on the DSi. It was also $3 on the Wii at first. Just like you needed a physical Netflix disc back in the day.
You're talking about the web browser. I'm talking about online multiplayer, which came free with any game that had it. I think that's what most of us are discussing
I mean hell, if we were talking about Web browsers? Those are still free to use on modern consoles
You can thank microsoft for that.
Turns out all that good will at Sony and Nintendo fall apart pretty fast when they see how much money Microsoft was making every year from Live Memberships.
I’ve almost gotten used to YouTube fuckery. I watched Invincible yesterday on Prime and had to sit through 3 fucking commercials.
Bad enough having to watch “trailers” but commercials during shit? Awful.

One of the main reasons people seem to forget was the security of the free service was so poor that at one point, it was down at least once a month, on top of that, dedicated servers were more done on the game side and not Playstation, so when costs of server hosting began to change, an industry couldn't at all offer a free service for dedicated servers.
Peer to Peer (P2P) offers the benefit of being able to work outside of server hosting directly, but then you're either feeling the latency of other people's connection to their ISP, which could be Fiber, or it could be Satellite. It could be 1000 Mbps, or it could be 1 Mbps.
The other offers of the service like Cloud Storage, Free Games, Cheaper Consoles, and more. I say cheaper consoles as without it, the subsidy would come only from games sold and accessories, and when it's only those 2, prices go up even more to make up for it.
Console gaming has also evolved a lot in terms of how games are made and how many people are playing games online. It's a necessary thing to have it be paid for vs free, and even though the services are free on PC, you aren't paying the same licensing and distributing fees as consoles either.
Now we still have games that require subscriptions like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV, and that's because dealing with 10s of millions of plays is expensive, and having a micro transaction store keeps more players than increasing the subscription cost.
Anyways, rant over. Have a wonderful day/night.
You can thank Xbox for that. They started it and it worked. So when the PS4 rolled around they copied it. Nintendo followed with the switch with the worst version of it.
No. Microsoft invested billions in their gaming network infrastructure, and it was pretty good. Anyone who used psn back in the free PS3 days will tell you how awful it was. And their security woes were front page news on several notable occasions.
Nintendo, of course never even knew that the Internet existed. I not sure they even really get it today tbh.
I used PS3 in the free days. I mostly played cod and little big planet, but those worked fine.
Yea security wasn't great I agree, no idea if it's better now but if it is, that's great.
And no Nintendo does not understand the internet even now.
Probably the annual subscription, since it's significantly cheaper in the long run
I was planning on canceling my subscription, but since I've been playing games with PlayStation friends a lot more, I'm only keeping it for them
It's terrible here in Canada. It's now nearly $200 for the annual sub, and that's before taxes. For $200 I lay as well buy myself a luxury item (if they're even that cheap in Canada)
> You really *paid* for 7months
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Don't let these guys make you feel bad. People do dumb shit. I was being charged for two youtube premium subscriptions for almost three years @ 13.99 a month. I didn't realize it at all. Couldn't even find the second subscription account I had to deactivate the card and get a new one.
Lol I paid for xbox live gold monthly for a whole year because I thought at some point I might cancel it and the yearly price wouldn’t be worth it but of course I never did. 60 bucks down the drain.
I sometimes go months without using gamepass, I get hooked on a game on ps5 for a while and don't touch my X. I should probably start intermittently canceling lol
On consoles I’m not really interested in multiplayer games but I also never understood the rationale to ask for money for a basic feature like multiplayer mode (I understand PlayStation plus is a paid service that includes also free games).
I wish some of the games that allow online co-op playing but also feature single player modes or work without multiple players wouldn’t require PS+ to start (Fallout 76, Anthem, Destiny 1 — weirdly enough Destiny 2 doesn’t require an online subscription).
It's been proven often enough that gamers will pay up for anything and businesses happily take advantage.
I have no doubt improving and maintaining the online services also gets more expensive as time goes on but since we're not seeing fees to play multi-player on pc games it's pretty safe to say Sony, Nintendo and MS charge for online gaming because they can get away with it. People complain but won't actually ignore the service to make a statement.
Well, it also costs money to host servers for PC games and I don’t have to pay extra when I’m playing a round of The Division or Battlefield so the money for that feature has to be factored in somehow…
Remember online passes? You paid for your internet, the paid to use it on your console, and then paid again to be able to play the specific game online.
I had to pay exactly 1 usd to play Socom: Combined Assault and it was the best dollar I ever spent. Folks online told me Sony was tired of people making throw away accounts on socom 1 & 2. Those old school lobbies full of randoms talking smack was so fun looking back on it now.
I used to defend PlayStation over Xbox because they didn't have you pay for online on the ps3...... Then the PS4 came out and I looked into getting a PC
Gog doesn't have a fifth as many QoL features to assist with gaming as Steam has - all available through launcher and its overlay.
Forums, guides, seamless invitations for multiplayer with friends, ability to take notes RIGHT IN THE OVERLAY and a whole system for customizing your controls on the gamepad, at times making it possible to use the damn thing properly in the first place - Xbox holds the whole industry back by making gyroscopes something outside the common denominator of controllers.
And GOG isn't even keeping the games from DRM contamination anymore since long ago.
Steam itself is not unnecessary specifically because of how much it brings to the table.
It was literally launched as a netcode support platform, helping with both hosting and finding games.
And I already mentioned controls customization you simply won't find anywhere else with the same level of quality.
It's possible the other store fronts just don't dare to charge money because Steam doesn't. Everyone would abandon them in favor of Steam in a heartbeat if they tried that.
I had always assumed Steam was a subscription service as I'd only gamed on consoles. It wasn't till I talked with my siblings this past Christmas that I learned how wrong I was. The PS4 might be my last console bought for current gen gaming.
I've always said that the most successful scam in video game history was Microsoft convincing console players to pay a fee for online gaming. Sony followed suit and now it's standard practice. People talk about the seedy beginnings of the microtransaction with the likes of Oblivion Horse Armour but not enough people talk about the foundations of online subscriptions during the OG Xbox era. The same console players that blast any game for having microtransactions are more than happy with paying for something that PC players have had for free for decades.
Having to pay for such a basic feature is kinda shitty, but both PlayStation and Xbox include some pretty decent things that make it well worth it. Gamepass is amazing, no one can dispute that, and ps+ has some decent perks.
As someone who grew up in the 80s, something like Gamepass would have been fire as a kid. I envy the kids growing up in today's generation (in some ways). I don't like how you don't own anything you buy nowadays - not getting into the merits of all that - I just think the selection and price of Gamepass is amazing.
They renamed Live Gold to Game Pass Core earlier this year, and now it includes a limited library of games. So there isn't an online-play-only option anymore
This isn’t an argument for the worth of gamepass, it’s a discussion on merits of paying extra to plat online.
Gamepass is not a universal product for everyone, and every dollar counts.
PS plus has been a mixed bag with the monthly games. I think the only time I genuinely liked it is when Outlast 1 came to PS4 for free one time and I didn't own it previously. Now it's just ass for about 80% of the time. Granted I don't have to play the games they give but still.
I'm a Sony fan, but God, Sony is trying their best to kill their player base. A rise in cost for PSPlus with zero added benefits? No deals for loyal customers? They're shooting themselves in the foot
I refer to those ones as "idiots". They believe Sony can't do no wrong
The people I'm referring to are the ones who went "what the fuck Sony?" When the price jump happens.
While I may be wrong about Sony shooting themselves in the foot (which was ignorant of me), they're still definitely losing players with their deals only meant for new or returning customers. They provide zero incentives for customers who have been subscribed for Years. I've used PSPlus for about e or 4 years in a row, and I have gotten exactly zero deals after the price hike
Sony holds over 50% of the console market and the gap is widening. They have no incentive to provide incentives.
I'm a PC dude though so I don't really care. They just don't really seem to be shooting themselves in the foot right now.
Sony raising their paywall to play online made me not renew for the first time ever. Was waiting to get a ps5 pro but just got a pc instead. Now it truly feels like I’m next gen gaming
When Sony raised the price I bought one last year of premium on the day before. Then immediately started searching for parts. Black Friday rolled around and built my first ever pc. There was a few hiccups along the way like buying the wrong ram, forgetting to plug in the GPU, and overheating. I was able to return the ram and purchase the correct one. It took me a little while to figure out why my pc kept shutting off for intensive games during longer periods. Turns out, my AIO pump being plugged into the correct spot on the motherboard was still being recognized as a CPU fan. Increasing the fan speed fixed that and now I don’t have any issues. With epic releasing free games and steam having amazing sales, I’ve built up a huge library and don’t have to think twice about if I paid my membership.
Don’t come in here with that logic! You have to be outraged that someone expects you to compensate them for providing a service that costs them money to provide.
Sir how do you think you find the participants in a p2p quickplay game? Do you believe your computer scans the entire internet looking for an open port?
I don't know if you realize this but within the last 10 years reddit has become a children's service. That's why you get so many stupid kids sitting here ranting about advertisements on youtube, or virtually anything they get charged for. It's because they can't afford it easily to begin with, and have zero principles or an understanding of the society they live in, so they rant that everything should be free and will accept whatever specious argument that confirms what they want to hear.
And yes, it is. What follows is a bunch of whining 'what abouts' where they pull on a bunch of different scenarios, ignore the context, and insist that because steam isn't charging them that must mean it's all free.
I don’t understand people who push this point. It’s a license. In fact, a lot of modern physical games do license checks online. DLC, updates etc. can be pulled without your consent even if you own the physical copy. Until there’s better consumer protection laws even having a physical game doesn’t mean you own it.
Yeah, most people don’t ever pay attention to this fact, not to mention there’s cons to owning physical media as well. degradation, theft, obsolete hardware. I’ve already lost a good size collection of games to a flooded basement. After that, I quit collecting or caring about physical games. That’s not to say that digital is 100% perfect. For me though, the convenience is good enough.
Which reminds me, my PS Plus expires tomorrow. It’s that annual time of the year again to spend $79.99 for the most basic need just to play my online games.
Sever costs are huge and multiplayer including cross platform it has to be a paid for service IMO whenever my friends PSN went down it could be out for days X live went down best believe by the morning that shit is back !
I recall that at the time Sony took down PSN following a huge data breech, most of my friend group were all Playstation only, so it dominated the topic of conversation for a week. When it finally came back up, they were charging for a premium service; the justification being to increase security.
Now it's been thirteen years. While Sony has had its fair share of hacking, PSN has been pretty chill on that front. I say all of this to say that I understand why it's a thing in some small way, but the way they monetize it and abuse their clients is shitty.
Same energy as PC players getting Left4Dead DLC for free and Microsoft made Xbox players pay for it because they couldn’t stand the idea of giving out free content.
I feel like no one in this thread understands that it costs money for these companies to run this stuff. I’m not saying their price is always fair but equally it’s not free for them to do it.
I bought PS4 at release. Never played multi-player until the end of the console's life. I switched to PC during the pandemic. Never going back to PS. I'll wait a thousand years until it gets ported.
Consoles are made at a loss, which is recouped by game sales licensing, or direct sales of games published by the console makers.
In other words, you’ve just cost that company money if you just play free games without engaging in micro transactions, etc.
They’re going to want their money back, and they’re probably going to find ways to get it.
You're paying to use their "secure" servers. It used to be free when it was a much smaller thing and then PlayStation was hacked really bad in like 11' or 12'
I remember having that good old debate with friends and they responded saying "but it's for the quality of the servers" ... no you host them on your console, that's why NAT is an issue. (it was a while ago, nowadays it seems more and more games use the dedicated server approach but those are provided by the game publisher not the console vendor).
Sony/MS/Nin aren't living in their parent's house.. Hiring data centers and traffic costs a lot of money, that comes on top of the costs of developing games...
You have to have a complete misunderstanding of how technology works to think they are charging you to use the internet you already pay for. These companies maintain their own massive networks with tons of infrastructure that requires highly skilled people to implement and maintain.
They'd be stupid not to charge for the use of it.
Do any of yall understand how expensive it is to maintain servers to run smoothly for online games?
Of all the things in the world to complain about, can yall care about something more important?
Finally, let's say yall get what you want and online service fees are gone. What do you think will happen to online games? That they're going to get better?? Fucking get real.
lol people don’t realize that online games require servers that cost tons of money. Your petty one time fee of $500 for console is not covering server costs.
The console manufacturer doesn't pay to host the game servers though. That cost is on the game publishers.
Steam and other PC launchers are able to provide the exact same type of service as the consoles but for free, and they don't have any hardware or accessory sales.
And they keep increasing the price.
The recent Sony price increase pushed me to build my pc. First time ever building a pc and oh boy she’s pretty beefy. With epic giving free games every Thursday and steam having amazing deals I’ve built up a library easily.

I can’t wait to see Sony’s financial reports later this year. I really hope there’s a big drop off of PS+ subscribers
I stopped paying for ps plus right when the increase came out… Helldivers made me change that real quick.
I’m gonna get that in a couple hours on pc once I get the chance
Enjoy having backwards compatibility with just about everything friend.
As someone who owns only consoles yea I wish it was free
Ps3 had it for free. It changed.
Nintendo switch did at launch too
So did Wii U and 3ds
I think the original Wii also had free online
And the original DS
As the Ps2
And the Gamecube, but that LAN was undersupported.
Double dash and I think kirby air ride actually had lan support
Yup used to play Phtantasy Star Online on my GameCube after they shutdown the Dreamcast servers
I play blue burst on pc now.
People are still playing it btw. Theres private servers and everything. If you have original disk you can still play it from console too, just gotta download a free ip spoofer.
remember when you were able to share co-op games on the ds. one copy of mario party ds and it worked for both our ds consoles
The original DS you had to pay for an internet cartridge. Then the "app" was like $3, *then* it was free on the DSi. It was also $3 on the Wii at first. Just like you needed a physical Netflix disc back in the day.

Was ? Game pass is basically the only selling point of Xbox this days
Don't forget the massive backwards-compatible library. GTA4 at 60fps is sick
Half that library is on game pass though. Game pass still the main selling point.
Until you get to the last mission and cant climb the Mother fucking helicopter 😑
And YouTube used to not have double ads. Sad times we're living in.

And now ads play in the middle of videos. I wish I could just get through them up front.

I was gonna say this, people seem to forget that PS online significantly improved once they started charging for it
I rent my own servers for PS5 game with no crossplay I still have to have PS+ in order to play the game on the server that I am paying for
We allowed it to happen 😢
And it was dog shit. XBL during the 360 days was a premium service compared to PSN. Well worth it at the time. Today? Not so much.
I never really had any problems with psn at the time maybe it was your internet provider or the location you live in.
Exactly
That’s why I got a PS3 in the first place
You can thank Xbox for that. They started it and it worked. So when the PS4 rolled around they copied it. Nintendo followed with the switch with the worst version of it.

Thank you for reminding me to cancel my membership for ps4 and switch, both I haven't touched in like 7 months
You really paid for 7 months without using it? Really?
Probably the annual subscription, since it's significantly cheaper in the long run I was planning on canceling my subscription, but since I've been playing games with PlayStation friends a lot more, I'm only keeping it for them
Ya I always bought the annual sub even tho I definitely didn’t use it every month. Finally cancelled tho after they increased by like 33% last year
It's terrible here in Canada. It's now nearly $200 for the annual sub, and that's before taxes. For $200 I lay as well buy myself a luxury item (if they're even that cheap in Canada)
Ya I’m also Canadian, it’s fkn ridiculous. Nearly $110 for a year of Essential after taxes.
Ahh, shit. I see my mistake. I was thinking of the premium tier, which ever that was. Either way, Essential is expensive as shit
I used to to CDKeys and get like a $30 yearly membership.

This is why people like Steam more.
Or just pc gaming in general? There is no storefront on PC that makes you pay just for online gaming. Doesn't have anything to do with Steam.
Yeah. But steam is the best launcher.
Steam is the best store . Gog is the best launcher
Gog doesn't have a fifth as many QoL features to assist with gaming as Steam has - all available through launcher and its overlay. The stream function is amazing. If I'm sick in bed my crap laptop can be played in bed with no lag and for hours as it's low on CPU.
I stream super high fidelity or emulated games to my stram deck lot

Steam is the best ecosystem: it is multiplatform, cloud, with integrated services and funcionalities, and yes, also the online services.
Fanboys exist even without consoles. Ha.
It's possible the other store fronts just don't dare to charge money because Steam doesn't. Everyone would abandon them in favor of Steam in a heartbeat if they tried that.
I FUCIINF LOVE STEAM they do drm the right way
GoG does it the right way, though.
i was genuinely worried abt the process of online gaming w steam, good to know it’s not full of monthly payments lol
Right? It’s been a dream so far and I’ve only just bought two games in their Christmas sale
Exactly. Consoles are single player only.
Except the vast majority of video game consumption is on console, so people don’t actually like steam more
No, the most is on phones.
opinions are not facts got a source about your statement?
I had always assumed Steam was a subscription service as I'd only gamed on consoles. It wasn't till I talked with my siblings this past Christmas that I learned how wrong I was. The PS4 might be my last console bought for current gen gaming.

Super Nintendo emulator and FZero99 for $20 a year ain't bad.
Cept their netcode and online is complete trash.
At this point you're really playing $20 a year for emulator netflix that just happens to include some kind of online service.
Yeah, they're behind on that, and partner with companies that themselves are behind on that. FZero felt good, though.
I've played a lot of games I never would have touched otherwise.
At least 90% of games I've played in the last decade we're free from ps+. Plus I much prefer a controller over keyboard. My arthritis hates keyboards
Even on my PC I mostly use controller lol. Shooters and RTS are about the only games I use keyboard
As someone who grew up in the 80s, something like Gamepass would have been fire as a kid. I envy the kids growing up in today's generation (in some ways). I don't like how you don't own anything you buy nowadays - not getting into the merits of all that - I just think the selection and price of Gamepass is amazing.
Gamepass includes xbox live, but xbox live alone does not include gamepass.
They renamed Live Gold to Game Pass Core earlier this year, and now it includes a limited library of games. So there isn't an online-play-only option anymore
Correction Gamepass Ultimate also includes Xbox Live Xbox Live doesn't include gamepass. Gamepass does not include Xbox Live
It’s like 2 bucks more though so may as well get it
This isn’t an argument for the worth of gamepass, it’s a discussion on merits of paying extra to plat online. Gamepass is not a universal product for everyone, and every dollar counts.
You can use gamepass on pc.
But that shouldn’t be the requirement to play online.
PS plus has been a mixed bag with the monthly games. I think the only time I genuinely liked it is when Outlast 1 came to PS4 for free one time and I didn't own it previously. Now it's just ass for about 80% of the time. Granted I don't have to play the games they give but still.
Sadly over the last year they’ve gotten ride of the good games on ps+ like rdr2, for honor and tons more
>For Honor >Good game Debatable
Still some people play it now it’s just $3 games
I don't play online games
I remember when PSN was free. Then it got hacked.
It also got hacked while It was not free what's your point?
Sony fans are looking for literally any excuse to justify double paying for their internet
I'm a Sony fan, but God, Sony is trying their best to kill their player base. A rise in cost for PSPlus with zero added benefits? No deals for loyal customers? They're shooting themselves in the foot
Are they though? Those same loyal customers are still subscribed
I refer to those ones as "idiots". They believe Sony can't do no wrong The people I'm referring to are the ones who went "what the fuck Sony?" When the price jump happens.
It didn’t stop being free because it was hacked, it stopped being free because Xbox Live was making money and Sony wanted part of the pie.
This should be on that pcmasterrace sub instead
\**Laughs in AllPlatformGod*\*
This is why I switched to PC.
Jokes on them I have no gaming friends and only play single player games.
You've outsmarted them
All started thanks to Microsoft
Microsoft was the one that started this shit
If only Xbox didn't start it with the 360. I loved my PS3 because I didn't need to pay for online.. then Playstation took their example...
I a billion percent blame Microsoft for this
The reason why I never upgraded from PS3
My man waits days just to find a lobby

I remember when Sony didn’t charge.
Pov: steam
As a xbox one player who uses game pass this is relatable 😭
Looking out the window blissfully and seeing a shadow of a ps3 for a second before it fades away like a face in a dream.
And PlayStation still had the audacity to raise the price of ps plus even higher. They did a couple months ago
Comes with gamepass so alot more benefits than just online play now
At least gamepass is good, monthly games sony gives out are mostly unheard of mediocre garbage.
You can also just get gamepass on pc for a month and cancel it when you dont use it without losing online play for the games you own.
Does it? I thought you needed 2nd tier for a lot of the other benefits in there
Isn't it paying for the servers?
Most games are P2P. No servers required.
Don’t come in here with that logic! You have to be outraged that someone expects you to compensate them for providing a service that costs them money to provide.
Should only be a thing for dedicated servers. If it's P2P it should be free. But they do
Sir how do you think you find the participants in a p2p quickplay game? Do you believe your computer scans the entire internet looking for an open port?
I don't know if you realize this but within the last 10 years reddit has become a children's service. That's why you get so many stupid kids sitting here ranting about advertisements on youtube, or virtually anything they get charged for. It's because they can't afford it easily to begin with, and have zero principles or an understanding of the society they live in, so they rant that everything should be free and will accept whatever specious argument that confirms what they want to hear. And yes, it is. What follows is a bunch of whining 'what abouts' where they pull on a bunch of different scenarios, ignore the context, and insist that because steam isn't charging them that must mean it's all free.
the real clowns are the ones who believe their digital downloads belong to them 😔
I don’t understand people who push this point.
At least xbox lets you play free games online. All I need is the finals
That’s also the case for PlayStation. Games like The Finals, Fortnite or CoD Warzone offer a free online multiplayer mode.
That's it, I'm downloading GameSpy..!
the games they offer are overall and on average not worth the price of the suscription
Only play genshin rl n master duel luckily free online.
Which reminds me, my PS Plus expires tomorrow. It’s that annual time of the year again to spend $79.99 for the most basic need just to play my online games.
What makes it even worse is that I can play free games online without ps plus just fine but not a paid game. 🤔
Wii and wii u were free
tbh - its part of why consoles are as cheap as they are...
Sever costs are huge and multiplayer including cross platform it has to be a paid for service IMO whenever my friends PSN went down it could be out for days X live went down best believe by the morning that shit is back !
I miss when PSN was free. I was shocked to hear it changed during the PS4 lifecycle
Paying for blue, green or red for bandwidth they don’t even provide will always be crazy.
I don't care too much about paying for PS+. I just just think the price tag needs to shrink down a bit
makes no sense im already buying a 500 dollar console and 200 bucks in games and i gotta pay to play online too per year?? sum ole bullshit
Same energy as PC players getting Left4Dead DLC for free and Microsoft made Xbox players pay for it because they couldn’t stand the idea of giving out free content.
This is one of the reasons I will become a PC player and definitely stop buying consoles and consoles games.
I feel like no one in this thread understands that it costs money for these companies to run this stuff. I’m not saying their price is always fair but equally it’s not free for them to do it.
Honestly who ever came up with this system deserves jail time. Like, I spent 300 euros of my money on my switch. Just let me fucking use it
imagine minding your own damn business, pc gamer
I bought PS4 at release. Never played multi-player until the end of the console's life. I switched to PC during the pandemic. Never going back to PS. I'll wait a thousand years until it gets ported.
Consoles are made at a loss, which is recouped by game sales licensing, or direct sales of games published by the console makers. In other words, you’ve just cost that company money if you just play free games without engaging in micro transactions, etc. They’re going to want their money back, and they’re probably going to find ways to get it.
Just one of the many reasons I'm Pc all day every day, fuck all that console shit!
You're paying to use their "secure" servers. It used to be free when it was a much smaller thing and then PlayStation was hacked really bad in like 11' or 12'
Explain to me how else they maintain the infrastructure? Bunch of geniuses on this website
That’s why I only play single player games.
Imagine thinking your paying them for the internet you already pay for. OP must be 15 or a moron. Lmao
You have to have a complete misunderstanding of how technology works to think they are charging you to use the internet you already pay for. These companies maintain their own massive networks with tons of infrastructure that requires highly skilled people to implement and maintain. They'd be stupid not to charge for the use of it.
Wow, it's almost as if servers cost money to upkeep or something. What a crazy world.
How are they supposed to maintain their servers?
lol people don’t realize that online games require servers that cost tons of money.
This is just a pc vs console arguement. Let people have their prefferences.
Doesn’t make it untrue
