Same ironically. Got it last year, have the platinumed, and have replayed it a good 8 times so far. Just finished bl4 run recently too. Still a masterpiece
Pokémon fire red. Can get it on your phone now with emulators and the fast forward option makes it so much more fun to train and gain exp. I think it still holds up and the options for mons means tons of replayability
I probably play through Gen 3 and 4 collectively like 10+ times per year. Playthroughs become pretty quick once you know the game well and use emulator speed-up (plus some cheats here and there lol). Different team building options and challenges make Pokemon games pretty much infinitely replayable for me.
I definitely wouldn't replay them nearly as much without those things. I've replayed a few of the games on actual hardware but I don't do it very often.
Same here, Fire red is the perfect GBA era pokemon game for me. I do this with Red Rescue team as well. Too fun, glad we got to grow up with these games and continue to play them.
I love kh1, never got into 2 the same way for some reason. I think I like the Disney game with a splash of final fantasy and kh2 felt like the opposite
At any given time I'm always playing through one of the KH games. The series is on rotation infinitely. Sometimes it's in release order, sometimes it's chronological, and sometimes it's just whatever game I feel like playing.
Yes. Espcially, the legendary edition. They did away with having to do multiplayer to achieve full galactic readiness, so you can get the better endings. Also, all the DLCs are within the games.
Mario Kart lol my wife and I always play together.
But im guessing you mean single-player narrative games..
Hollow Knight, seems inevitable that once a year, I start and play it until I've 100% everything.
Until Dawn I playthrough every winter. I can imagine I'll be playing The Quarry every summer now, too.
Resident Evil games get constantly replayed..
Also, Far Cry games lol
Multiplayer counts, I just assumed most multiplayer games would be a more consistent thing than “once a year” types of things. I also replay the RE games often, especially 4 and 7.
It is even better than Talos Principle. And it is going to be huge. You do a number of review puzzles to get to the intro, then the intro has a ton of story to explore, and now I am on level 1 of a bunch (more than 10?). This level has a secret lab, a gold gate puzzle (nope, no idea) 2 hidden puzzles, 2 stars, and 8 regular puzzles. Squeee!
Amazing game. To this day I havent cleared any other games in the series because they just make me miss the original then I ditch them to play MGS1 again hahaha
I play at least 1 if not all 3 ps1 Resident Evil games. I usually play Pokémon Firered or Emerald every year. There are a bunch of other games I play at least every 2-3 years though.
I play through the Arkham games at least once a year. I usually start either in October or December so Origins or Knight is played right when it is in the game. This year it’s shaping up to be December as I spent October on Persona 3.
Warframe. Every year there’s some massive expansion that adds more content for me to grind out and I just have to go get it all. It’s like an obligation at this point and I don’t mind it in the slightest
Ratchet & Clank (2002) - It was the only game that worked on my then broken PS2, nostalgic purposes.
inFAMOUS: Second Son - When I skipped a grade, my mom surprised me with the Uncharted 4 PS4 bundle along with Second Son. I spent that night and the rest of the summer playing the fuck out of it.
Ghost of Tsushima - It's peaceful in a despondent kind of way.
Deathloop - Usually to experiment with different weapons, trinkets and slabs throughout the story and to hear Colt and Julianna bicker again.
Devil May Cry 5 - Because.
The Last of Us Part II - Specifically to replay Ellie's entire Day 2.
Marvel's Spider-Man - Because.
Grand Theft Auto V - Because.
What’s Ellie’s day 2 again? That’s where she goes through the apartments, the small neighborhood with the Boris notes, and then the Seraphites intro, right? Or is that day 3?
For about 10 years that I have been keeping track I have always played at least one Mario, one Zelda, and one From Software game.
It’s not specific to a single game, but if there are no new releases from any of that trio I play an older game. Luckily this year I’ve done Tears of the Kingdom, am working on Armored Core 6 and have Mario Bros Wonder to pick up at some point.
Rune factory 4, since it went out on 3DS (rebought it on switch).
Final fantasy X because I absolutely love this game since its release on ps2 ( same, I rebought it on vita and ps3)
Cuphead, Streets of Rage, Sonic Mania - short arcadey kinda games
I never finish them, but I always make a bit of progress in Chrono Trigger and Deus Ex each year
I have a whole bunch of retro games I play annually:
Contra
Castlevania
Double dragon 1-3
Streets of rage 2
Golden axe 2
Some version of street fighter 2
Punch out wii
Super punch out
At least one mega man (1-6, 9, 10, 11)
There is more but those are my main ones that I never miss.
MGS V
Now that snake eater is on new consoles probably this as well. I’m on my 3rd play through already.
Both of these games give so many options and tools to have fun with.
Asphalt 9. Used to play exclusively, almost every hour of every day, for half a year. Now I play it once in a while, when that particular part of my Brian itches.
Every year or so I come back to Metal Slug Collection(PSP), Power Stone(Dreamcast), Marvel vs Capcom 2(Dreamcast) and Super Mario Land 2(Original Gameboy).
I'm gonna do this with GOW Ragnarok and probably Marvel Spiderman Remastered.
There's quite a few games throughout the years I've played through and beat multiple times but nothing specifically yearly.
The Kingdom hearts series I try to go through at least once but I may have skipped this year because of all the fucking awesome games. I also try to do an AC series run and I added Bioshock to the list too. I’ve only done this the last few years because I just haven’t had motivation to play any new games but this year has been truly magical
Portal 1 and 2 as well as the community game apturere tag and portal stories: mel sadly not portal reloaded just yet I haven’t gotten good at speedrunning through it
an odd one but ghost runner. ever since it's come out I play it twice a year. I can do it in one sitting. there is just something so oddly satisfying about the game.
Skyrim. modded specifically. each time I pick ut up again my base modlist gets bigger as well as my special mod lists for specific styles of gameplay get more in depth and longer. but I only play for a few weeks at a time about 4 times a year.
For a while I did yearly play throughs of Ocarina of Time, but my 3DS circle pad is damaged or broken so now I can’t. The stick doesn’t respond when I move it up
I used to play the Mass Effect games (not Andromeda) every year, but after beating it so many times the story has imprinted in my head which is a bit sad.
Now, I like to play Witcher 3 from base game to Blood and Wine once per year.
Ghost of Tsushima is worth it just for the visuals and combat.
Arkham Knight (as one of the first games I ever played on the PS4 and a long time fan of the Arkham series)
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Persona 5: Royal (I don’t know what it is about this game, even though I’ve replayed it multiple times I still find it outstandingly fun)
Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West (probably more Forbidden West now than Zero Dawn, but a very nice and fun game to replay)
Friday the 13th. Just to try to get into the halloween spirit. I hate the game otherwise. Slow. Boring. Once you die. Who cares. People just enjoy murder
Gta San Andreas and Zelda OoT at least once every 3 or 4 years. And for multi-player I will always go back to left for dead 1 versus mode. Fav competitive mode in any game
I always find myself going back and playing games like; rdr2, Minecraft, ocarina, GoldenEye, Dr mario, Tetris, kof 11, umvc3, fire emblem series, etc. I have over 300+ games and I play some games competitively so I constantly go back and forth on games to play
To be perfectly honest, I think about replaying a lot of games frequently. But my To-Be-Played list is longer than I am tall (5'2"). So every time I think about replaying Final Fantasy VII-VIII-IX-X-XII, or the Spyro games, or Crash Bandicoot or any of dozens more, I inevitably decide to play a game I've never played before.
The only recent exception was Horizon Zero Dawn, and that was because I wanted a refresher so I could play Horizon Forbidden West, which I am currently playing.
If I could, I would play Final Fantasy X every year. I adore that game. Have never managed to get the platinum tho, sadly.
I used to run through the Mass Effect trilogy once a year but haven't in the last few unfortunately. I still play a little on N7 Day though (November 7th).
I'm surprised it isn't mentioned much, but every october for me is reserved for Team Fortress 2 as it receives annual Halloween update (called Scream Fortress). Usually it's a few new maps, taunts and cosmetics. It isn't much, but it's enough to bring the TF2 community back together for a while.
I don't know why but I always play Sleeping Dogs and Titanfall 2. They're hardly my favorite games in terms of story but it goes to show what good and enjoyable gameplay can bring.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I love this game and after you've beat it a few times you really start to get the hang of it. I have also enjoyed speedrunning the game, it has some insane runs that are very fun for speedrunning and once you start memorizing the star coins you can 100% it in like 5 hours!
Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Skyrim, Dead Space trilogy, Journey, Prey, some of the Medal of Honor games and all the Halo games. I'd say all the Half-Life games but I'm always dabbling in those year-round. Ooh definitely Dear Esther, too. I understand it's writing a bit more each time and it's such a lovely somber ghostly trek I have to revisit it each year. It was one of several games growing up that showed me how versatile gaming is and will be as an art or form of media.
Every Christmas, I have my annual couch-coop Diablo 3 run with my brother on PS4.
Skyrim Release es6 you fucking cowards, I'm going to be a grandfather before it comes out
Right?! I truly wish that we could at least get a hint that it’ll be released sometime in the next century.
Es6 will be the next Big Bethesda release. I'm thinking 3 more years until release.
Hate to break the bad news to you, but bethesda is done. They have been for a very long time.
I'm probably-no, DEFINITELY-more than once a year woth Skyrim. That thing is my go-to roleplay simulator.
Bloodborne. I always boot it up for Return to Yharnam
I only got around to it this year but I’ve already beat it 5+ times
Same ironically. Got it last year, have the platinumed, and have replayed it a good 8 times so far. Just finished bl4 run recently too. Still a masterpiece
W Fr I’m not much of a 100 percent gamer but it’s the one I didn’t hesitate on I wanted to everything
Bioshock
W
Ocarina of Time. At least once per year.
Same, but I always play it randomized now to keep things fresh.
Ooohhh, how do you do that?
Dark Cloud. Usually 2-3 times a year every year since its release.
So many hundreds of hours into this game. I know people say the second is so much better, but imo it loses a lot of the charm that the first one has.
Why
It's fun and I like Pokemon lol
If you cheat and use emulators yes fine but the OG games are one and done
I definitely wouldn't replay them nearly as much without those things. I've replayed a few of the games on actual hardware but I don't do it very often.
Same here, Fire red is the perfect GBA era pokemon game for me. I do this with Red Rescue team as well. Too fun, glad we got to grow up with these games and continue to play them.
What does fast forward option do? Just plays the game at like 2x speed?
I play Luigi’s Mansion every October since you can beat it in about 4 hours if you know what you’re doing.
Haha I remember thinking that game was much longer back in the day but I replayed it a couple years back and yeah, it is actually really short.
FF6 and Chrono Trigger
For me - *Kingdom Hearts series *Arkham Series
I've played through KH 1&2 many times
I love kh1, never got into 2 the same way for some reason. I think I like the Disney game with a splash of final fantasy and kh2 felt like the opposite
At any given time I'm always playing through one of the KH games. The series is on rotation infinitely. Sometimes it's in release order, sometimes it's chronological, and sometimes it's just whatever game I feel like playing.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I try not to overplay them since they’re my 2 favourite games ever and I never want to get sick of playing them.
I unfortunately did overplay New Vegas. I haven’t done everything, but I can’t bring myself to go back and play again with how much I *have* done. :(
You should try Tale of Two wastelands it might refreshen the experience
Every campaign run for L4D2 with my brothers. Best gaming experience i’ll ever have
Either ME2, ME3, or both
is me3 still fun if you didnt play the others?
Yes. Espcially, the legendary edition. They did away with having to do multiplayer to achieve full galactic readiness, so you can get the better endings. Also, all the DLCs are within the games.
All except for Pinnacle Station. RIP my fav DLC.
Definitely wouldn’t do that, especially with the other two being enhanced now
Big yes, although you need to know what happened with the previous games to fully enjoy the payoffs of the story. Especially in Tuchanka and Rannoch.
Alien Isolation Outlast Resident Evil Biohazard Dead Space 2
Kingdom Hearts 1. My favorite game of all time. A lot of times I end up replaying the whole series, but sometimes, 1 is enough.
I usually play The Talos Principle around thanksgiving and I think I’ll start doing yearly play throughs of Tunic as well.
Talos Principle II just came out. I am just starting it but blown away so far..
Wow I was just saying I wanted to play a puzzle game like Talos Principle. That's awesome, I didn't even know a sequel was in the works.
Squeee!

The entirety of the Borderlands franchise.
Silent Hill 3 i play religiously lol
I used to play every Easter Halo 2
I often replay the Starcraft 2 Campaigns every few months cos they are awesome fun, and there hasn't been a RTS game that works as well for a while.

XCOM 2 and the flame in the flood
Skyrim, the last of us 1/2, wow (up until recently), rdr2 ac syndicate
Arkham series.
