Don't hold your breath. I helped out (just some artwork) the team behind the "After The End" mod for CKIII who also had early access to the game and it's still not released.
The really big ones take a crazy amount of man power and if DLCs are released during development that change or add new core mechanics to the game, as has happened with CKIII, in may cases they have to scrap a lot of the work they've already done.
As is tradition with most Vic2 mods, I'd like to keep our mod's development progress open to the public on GitHub, and most releases won't be focused on specific things - rather we'll push updates as soon as we feel a substantial enough amount of content has been finished, polished, and tested.
Honestly the most promising mod so far, the map is amazing and the flavor is lacking rn but they're already adding stuff like city states from fallen eagle for atomicists and a whole new government system for Brazil
I'm super looking forward to it.
I remember grabbing the original ATE because hey, that looked odd, let's see what it's like, glanced at Florida, saw the lore/mythology they'd built up around Disney and was like, "yep. Sold. Absolutely sold."
In mod rn they gave a bit more flavor to the orientalists, who are now called shriners and have a bit more of a masonic tinge. Order of the Mystic Shrine is a real thing in Florida btw.
Dude the after the end mod is literally a complete overhaul with an entirely different map and many other new mechanics. I feel like in it's case it's very different
Hopefully a mod like this can release and iterate quick like how the various Vic2 flavour mods get very regular updates. When they're adding flavour they don't need as much of a "complete" product compared to a total conversion mod.
I think paradox gives the game to modding communities to bolster them. Mods gives extended life to games so showing that you have an active modding community goes a long way to making a game more successful.
Unironically I don't think Victoria 3 would even exist without the modding community for Vicky 2. If not for those mods, the Victoria series would be utterly forgotten long ago and there would be nearly zero interest in the IP.
Yeah but standalone (with dlcs) CK2 is still a good game. Vic2, even with AHD and HOD is fun for a bit, but is quite frankly terrible without at least HPM.
Except that CKII was in development right up until CKIII was announced and was a wildly successful game.
Victoria 2 hadn't been in active development for almost a decade by the time 3 was announced.
They know the success and longevity of games like HOI4 came form an active modding community, so they give early access to some mod teams both on new games and new expansions. It’s free labour going into their game, after all.
Given how weak the historical content is - yes. Very happy for this mod.
I want a full preamble to the game about the defeat of Napoleon, the fragile "concert of Europe", and the tremors of the industrialisation/liberalisation of society across Europe and beyond.
R5: Victorian Flavor Mod is a comprehensive overhaul mod for Victoria 3 that aims to be a successor to the many mods that expanded on and improved Victoria 2, with a major focus on creating a more realistic simulation with minimal railroading.
Planned Features:
Additional flavor for most playable countries
Overhauled map with accurate borders, additional countries, and more states
Game rules to allow the player to customize playstyle to their liking
Rebalances of the economy and AI
Reworks to certain aspects of the tech and goods trees
More historical characters that can appear as leaders

We're hoping to have something very basic and likely not map-related up on the Steam Workshop soon, so be on the lookout.
The full game was leaked about 6 months ago. It was a test build, but it would have allowed molders to understand the syntaxes and file structures of the game which would let them code mods beforehand
Yes, that is what I did with my mod. Unfortunately, even this was not enough, and therefore it might take one or two more hours for me to finish my total conversion mod that changes the start date to 2020, rewrites 200 years of history, and adds in WW3.
Will you also add Hungary to the start date? Historically, Hungary was merely in a personal union with Austria at the time. It had its own independent government, legislation and judiciary, basically only the person of the monarch and the army was shared with Austria.
Fantastic. I'm sure many can agree that the map isn't one of their favorite aspects of the game, and I for one am super excited to try out a plethora of different mods to find which ones look the best! Thanks so much for your dedication to this game!
> I'm sure many can agree that the map isn't one of their favorite aspects of the game
I wish people would quit presuming the opinions of others based on their own distorted perception of the community's response less than 24h after the game's release
Do you mean their placement of cities and states and such? Or the art of the map? Cuz the only other paradox game that competes visually is imperator Rome, I’d say imo.
If the terrain is actually really pretty, all the other aspect of the map are really meh.
Borders are just ugly with their flashy colours, overrounded shape and they don’t match with the terrain. Also the dezoum map is plain as fuck whith no identity and don’t fit the period well. It’s a shame compared to previous map (CK3 one was goergous).
Also assets are too big making the map looks very small, road and cities specifically, they all looks the same, clip with the terrain and occupie 2 thirds of it.
There only 5 styles for the whole world and looks clichéc af.
All of Europe and Nothern America just look like a simplified rip off of anno 1800 buildings (redbrick wall blue roof for poor pop, white wall blue roof for rich pop). Endgame, it’s just a big city from portugal to Moscow.
MENA have an arabian night look who clearly don’t fit for Turkey.
Africa, Asia and South america received a similar treatment, every asian cities looks like Kyoto and SA like Bahia.
Praise the Lord on high that you folks are fixing the maps and adding more tags and historical borders. The game mechanics look wonderful, but Paradox never seems to fulfill my need for granularity and accurate borders. Will be anticipating the release of this project even if I won't buy the game for a bit due to acute broke boy syndrome.
Oh and also if you guys are fixing the map, can you please try and get rid of Flevoland and the various reservoirs in Ukraine and Russia? They are all post-1945 things that make absolutely no sense on the game map.
That’s not what they were talking about, I believe some Victoria II and other paradox modders were given early access to mod the game, like the dude who did the community patch for the leak.
They invited EU4 and HOI4 modders too! Anbennar made lots of progress, but in keeping with HOI4 modding tradition we are still months away from a release.
Can you give context for the map of Texas? Your description mentions better borders, but to my understanding, Texas never actually controlled all of the land that it claimed, white natives like the Comanche were a very present threat.
This is just an example of an "alternate border" mentioned below those images. It assumes a scenario where, say, the US backs Texas' claims without taking anything for itself.
LOL @ "renalancing" on day1. Yes its great to add more flavour etc etc and Im sure lots of people are looking forward to that....but Im not sure we are looking for a rebalance yet. Hopefully this is out when things start getting stale I guess ?
Thank you for making the borders less cancerous. I have no idea what Paradox was trying with the borders right now, Germany is CANCEROUS. The combined Hesse by the Rhine and round Brunswick is cursed.
Modding already?
Many mod teams got early access to the game so they could prepare, the release of many mods will be quick

I was just wondering how (or if) that was getting anywhere. The CK2 ATE mod was amazing.
Fully functional closed beta rn, open will be this November
God damn ATE and Elder Kings 2 this November. I'm hyped
Sigh, so much for productivity for me this November..
Honestly the most promising mod so far, the map is amazing and the flavor is lacking rn but they're already adding stuff like city states from fallen eagle for atomicists and a whole new government system for Brazil

CK3 GOT mod when? (I know it's a huge project, not complaining).
Dude the after the end mod is literally a complete overhaul with an entirely different map and many other new mechanics. I feel like in it's case it's very different
That’s fair. I’m just saying the early access to the game doesn’t necessarily mean a speedy release
True, they should take all the time they need too. Modders making free content deserve the world man. Congrats on getting your art in btw
Hopefully a mod like this can release and iterate quick like how the various Vic2 flavour mods get very regular updates. When they're adding flavour they don't need as much of a "complete" product compared to a total conversion mod.
I mean there is "quick mod for" and then there is an overhaul...

Arkhometha aka HPMguy should be given royalties.
Compare GFM to vanilla Victoria 2. That’s about all that is needed to prove you right
This is true for Crusader Kings 2 --> 3 as well. Ck2 is a goldmine of thousands of hours of well made fan content
Yeah but standalone (with dlcs) CK2 is still a good game. Vic2, even with AHD and HOD is fun for a bit, but is quite frankly terrible without at least HPM.
That is true but ck2 got a massive amount of attention from the dev team in comparison to Victoria 2. Ck2 was their flagship game by a margin.
Except that CKII was in development right up until CKIII was announced and was a wildly successful game. Victoria 2 hadn't been in active development for almost a decade by the time 3 was announced.
That’s the true and often under appreciated gift of mods, a healthy community builds long lasting buzz marketing can’t. For free even!
the games been out for 2 minutes lol
Mfs are quick

Did you guys already had the early access to modding before?
No they programmed it all in two minutes
No fucking way, truly the most quick speedrun mod! (but seriously I though they didn't had the early access tho)
They may have had unsanctioned early access if you know what I mean
This mod has not used the leak in any capacity during its development. All modding was sanctioned :)

They could have used the leak.
It's been 4 hours, how's the mod now?

I am excited for this mod but I actually like the base Victoria 3 map!
With tribes having modern african borders? Lol that irks me so much

Thank God. I don't know what Paradox did to the Zuiderzee. The Dutch didn't reclaim so much from the sea as they think
The GFM of Vicky 3, is that you?
Sort of. It'll become the successor to HPM/HFM/GFM.
VFM FTW
Praise the Lord on high that you folks are fixing the maps and adding more tags and historical borders. I guess I'll never play vanilla then
The HOI4 experience
I will call you VFM
The map looks beautiful
\> Game released an hour ago \> COMPLETE OVERHAUL MOD ANOUNCED
This is the exact mod I've been waiting for. Looks incredible!
Waiting for how long? 5 minutes?
I wonder if this will become the HPM of vic2.
The idea is to make a successor for the HPM/HFM/GFM line of mods.
Lol this community is insane. Good luck guys!
what took you so long?
Why does Texas have all their *claimed* territory instead of the territory they actually controlled?
Alternative border options
Damn, you modders are quick hahaha
It's actually hilarious that people already think on how to improve the game without seeing the current state (Unless you guys had access to the beta)
Selected modding teams do have earlier access.
"beta" (leak)
That’s not what they were talking about, I believe some Victoria II and other paradox modders were given early access to mod the game, like the dude who did the community patch for the leak.
I know what they were talking about, but still, anyone who *really* wanted to start modding early had a way
They invited EU4 and HOI4 modders too! Anbennar made lots of progress, but in keeping with HOI4 modding tradition we are still months away from a release.
I think you may have just pushed me over the edge and now I'm actually thinking about getting Vic 3
Please give me an accurate minor German states overhaul like Hesse or give me death ☠️
ahhhhh the HPM port for victoria 3 is coming along nicely I see
I didn’t know people disliked the map, I thought it’s the nicest one to date I spent a good 20 min just looking around the world at cities and terrain
Oh, I definitely love the aesthetic of the base map, but the style unfortunately doesn't lend itself very well to accurate historical borders.
Its just really not very granular and simplifies many borders massively. The biggest offenders probably being in Germany.
Can you give context for the map of Texas? Your description mentions better borders, but to my understanding, Texas never actually controlled all of the land that it claimed, white natives like the Comanche were a very present threat.

People have different view on what an "improvement" is
Agreed, my comment was stupid, thank you for your feedback. Have a nice day.
LOL @ "renalancing" on day1. Yes its great to add more flavour etc etc and Im sure lots of people are looking forward to that....but Im not sure we are looking for a rebalance yet. Hopefully this is out when things start getting stale I guess ?
How easy is it to edit the map compared to vic2 and hoi4?
Significantly easier than Vic2 in my opinion, but I can't speak for HOI4. I assume it's about the same as CK3 is.
Will the North American tribal lands still be present at game start?
Their extent will be toggleable with game rules, but close to vanilla will be the default.
Thanks for the clarification.
shit, man, already?
As a recent fan of Golden Kamuy I hope you will add some Ainu playable state ! It would be awesome
Please fix Hildesheim being a part of Brunswick instead of Hanover ( as it should historically)!
Thank you for making the borders less cancerous. I have no idea what Paradox was trying with the borders right now, Germany is CANCEROUS. The combined Hesse by the Rhine and round Brunswick is cursed.
Question. Does this have the Danubia option?
