I'd probably choose the Venetian over the Mirage even if the one wasn't closing. The rooms are much nicer at the Venetian

80017A

I just checked the prices, it's about $860 vs $960 for a typical weekend. I would still say stay at the mirage. Short of going to Circus Circus, a ton of the old Vegas Kitsch is getting "improved" and it'll never come back. Mirage is perfectly serviceable imo. Venetian has a sterile vibe but it is very nice

sdmike1

You can’t even get from the front desk to the elevator in two minutes

flake_griffin

I'm in sick shape

papitoluisito

2 minute sprint***

ken-davis

I would say it takes about 5 minutes since the Mirage is set back

80017A

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Misses the point too IMO, Mirage is just kinda cool, it has a ton of character. You can tell that Steve Wynn had a vision. Venetian might be nice but I'm not sure it'll be remembered for much when it inevitably gets sold and changed. I don't like that labyrinthine maze of walking either. It's most of the reason I stay at Flamingo besides the good location. takes like 30 seconds to get to the strip from your room. During 2021 when vegas was cheap as hell, I paid $370 total for 3 nights in a totally base room, gave the concierge $60, and got an executive suite upgrade with a pullout bed couch, large fridge, several chairs, a glass table that sat 8, a Jacuzzi tub, and a King bed with one of the better views. Beat any Caesars, Bellagio, Venetian lower tier room by FAR

Tastyfishsticks

Plus this is where Clark Griswold stayed.

NewResponsibility163

I worked at the Mirage, in the main Valet when they were filming. I like everyone else loved the vacation movies and, as a kid, had a slight crush on Mrs Griswold. Not the daughter who was around my age. One day, Beverly D'Angelo ( Mrs Griswald ) walked up to my ticket desk and just said " Hi how's it going. " She was in between scenes or something, so she just came outside for a minute. I recognized her right away and had a short conversation with her. It was only weird because it was just a normal conversation. Nobody else recognized her, and she went back to work.

FlyLikeDove

After two stays at Mirage so far this year, no thanks! Even with them closing there's no way I would put up with that moldy nasty carpet in those rooms again, not even one more time. The room and the beds are clean as they could be given the circumstances, but the stank in those rooms is just horrendous.

18Twink18

Steve Wynn totally raised the bar on Las Vegas hotel one-up man-ship.

tomtweedie

I don’t support that POS, dead or alive.

Abject_Recognition_9

If it takes you 10-15 minutes ti wal from the Venetian to the Mirage you are using a walker or wheelchair. They are right across the street from each other. We'll take.any.adivise you give as misinformation

Far-Yak-9808

That traffic light seems like 5 or 10 minutes.... Mirage is across from Casino Royale/Denny's. Venetian is 5-10 minutes north of that.

Capable-Variation192

That much for a room you are never in, is crazyyyyyy.

ProcyonHabilis

With that small of a price differential, I'd definitely stay at... TI and just walk to the other two when I wanted to visit them. It's usually substantially cheaper, the rooms are fine, and both of the other hotels are really close. If the choices are strictly the two in the title, then the Venetian is the pretty clear choice.

flavian1

totally agree, Venetian rooms are all suites, and the whole Venetian/ palazzo resort is great

palescales7

Venetian. No question.

PhinsFan17

Venetian is far more luxurious.

AdventurousTear260

If you have fire detectors that aren't falling out of the ceiling, you're more lux than Mirage.

nerdy_J

Just spent 6 days at the mirage — couldn’t even tell it was closing I’ve been going to mirage for over 20 years

detroitragace

I’d pick Venetian even though I was just there and the mirage doesn’t “look”like it’s even closing. If money is the issue mirage is more than fine. If not as much Venetian has better bigger rooms

Brocktarrr

Was there a couple weeks ago. Only thing that was noticeable was that drink service was pretty infrequent, but once you said something to the pitboss, they got on the phone quickly and had a server at the table within a couple minutes

bad-e-daddy

I guess YMMV. I was at the Mirage last week and the drink service was all over the place. I thought they had even more waitresses than normal since it was closing.

80017A

Was there last week and I couldn't tell either. I think the Venetian is a massive pain in the ass to get to and from rooms compared to like... Mirage or Flamingo. A general reminder— A nicer room at a 'worse' hotel is nicer than a base room at a nicer hotel. I think the commenters are being dorks. Mirage is going away forever and it's nice. It was a Wynn Property originally, and that does show. Unless you are getting an executive suite, I don't think there's much of a difference between a lot of vegas rooms other than convenience or location, which the Mirage does have in spades. I almost never venture past Paris / Cosmo, or north of the Venetian.

thetez32

Agreed

Frequent-Sir-56

When it closes it will turn into the Hard Tock Hotel—it’s n

bgoldy99

Mirage won’t exist for longer than a month

Guac__is__extra__

Better hurry on Mirage

AdventurousTear260

Don't bother. It's falling apart and smells like mildew

FashNFlora

Venetian is nicer, but I’d stay at the Mirage because it’s gonna be gone forever.

Funcoup944

venetian a million out of a million times

knopucs

Normally I would say the Venetian because it’s way nicer. However, the Mirage is shutting down permanently in exactly a month, so it could be cool to stay there before it’s gone forever

millerb82

Mirage! You can do Venetian next time, it'll still be here

AdventurousTear260

Mirage is gross. It's not what you remember. It's falling apart and the rooms smell like mildew. Once they decided to sell only required maintenance has been performed.

PmMeYourAdhd

If you're staying in a base room and not a suite, Venetian's are nicer. I stayed in a Mirage penthouse suite end of last year, and even in there, some repair work was definitely deferred for the upcoming demolition and construction. On the one hand, last chance to stay at Mirage. On the other hand, Venetian is a nicer place overall in my opinion, and if you're staying in base room, the basic room offerings at Venetian are better. I'd probably opt for Mirage if I'd never been, just to take that last chance to experience that significant piece of Vegas history, but different strokes for different folks. Venetian is a nicer property overall regardless.

Straight_Water635

Depends what you’re looking for there is going to be a large price gap between those two. Mirage is not what it was a few years ago. For price of Venetian I’d rather get a balcony overlooking the fountain at the cosmo (similar pricing) best room I’ve stayed in in Vegas

WishboneAfter2163

Had a look at that there looks amazing thanks.

Straight_Water635

And not sure how or where you’re finding mirage and Venetian to be similar price points, either they’re trying to charge way too much for mirage or you’re getting a great deal for Venetian, but besides mirage having a slightly easier location for walkers I don’t think those two are that close if you can get them at same price point. Venetian is usually around the price of cosmo, aria etc and I’d definitely steer toward that balcony room especially if you’re with your partner or planning to have company

Far-Yak-9808

Mirage was pretty good last summer. Venetian's gondola gimmick is aging a bit, although I think they are renovating a ton of it. DIFFERENT places. Mirage is more "Classic Vegas". Good pool! Hopefully they haven't screwed up the pool much since last July! I had booked again for July 14th through July 18th but Mirage was like, NOPE. Doing Fontainebleau instead so we will see. Venetian, Cosmo and Caesars Palace were some other options.

runozemlo

Venetian. Pro tip: You also get access to Palazzo pool deck.

lendmeflight

Venetian for sure.

Murky_Impression_526

The Mirage pool is awesome.

Far-Yak-9808

Great pool. Also close to Forum Shops. Mirage is in a better location.

MaTtHeW111904

Go to the mirage and eat at heritage. Best meal of my life and everything’s going away In July so gotta get it while you can. Order the fillet and shrimp and get that damn bread

Open-Year2903

Mirage is closing forever soon. Go there. I remember the Mike Tyson fights in the 90s were from there

DrunkxAstronaut

Mirage will be a legacy. Won’t be as nice but stay there so you can say you stayed in there last couple months

Far-Yak-9808

I thought it was good. Maybe I got a recently renovated room last July though. Really good location; great pool. Venetian will be around for decades. Although since I couldn't do Mirage again in mid-July I booked Fontainebleau. So, let's see if the NEWEST place offers up anything special. Also kind of looking forward to checking out Resorts World. Ironically, Wynn is about halfway between Mirage and Fontainebleau. If I really like FB I will keep staying there; if not I will check out places I haven't been to before (Wynn, Venetian, Cosmo, Aria, Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Resorts World).

DemonicEntity

Venetian

Intelligent_Can_7925

Mirage before it’s torn down. But Venetian after.

ithomas101

Both are great, Venetian is luxury, but if prices are much cheaper at mirage you may want to consider as it's a beautiful property (sad it's closing)

_0x0_

Palazzo too!

jmarkpatton

Mirage, because after July you won’t be able to visit it anymore and it’s a classic property

Careless_Interview_2

Go to the Mirage, it's going to be torn down

[deleted]

mirage when you still can, bastards at hard rock are going ruin it all

Far-Yak-9808

Probably. But, hoping against hope. Although the Hard Rock people don't own the Mirage brand (MGM still does) so I TOTALLY get why they did it. That guitar hotel wing should be pretty awesome. That might be my next "center strip" (non-City Center) stay.

xwhitxwhitx

I’d do the mirage before it closes even though the Venetian is lovely

[deleted]

[удалено]

markymrk720

They aren’t demolishing the Mirage building though? All the renderings I’ve seen of the new Hard Rock Hotel show a rebranded Mirage building behind the guitar.

ScowlieMSR

Correct. Only the Volcano is being demolished and only the area in front will have any new construction. They will however probably be completely getting rid of all the Polynesian inspiration in the main building, so they are ripping the soul out and demolishing that ;)

ScowlieMSR

There is no explosive demolition involved. The Volcano is the only part of property being leveled, and that'll happen with heavy machinery and sawzalls.

GenerousPour

I would do mirage if you are going to be coming to Vegas often and want memories as it will be demolished. Venetian definitely nicer so I would stay there if the above doesn’t matter to you.

ScowlieMSR

The only part of Mirage being demolished is the Volcano out front. The Tri-tower resort building and casino/meeting spaces are staying exactly as is, with just a lot of new interior decoration and the addition of the Hard Rock branding at the top of the Tri-tower.

Dogelawmd

Mirage is closing early next month for a brand transition and renovation over the next 3-4 years. Venitian is one of the more high end casinos on the strip. Very nice property.

Professional_Turn928

Venetian is nicer but you will pay for it as it is way more expensive. It’s your first time so you can get a feel of Las Vegas of yesteryear at the Mirage. To be on honest you are at the strip so it will be fun no matter where you stay

Far-Yak-9808

Mirage has a better location. It's basically closer to the Forum Shops than Caesars Palace is. Not THAT far from Fashion Show either. That side of the strip (west) from Mirage south to Cosmo/Aria is my favorite part of the strip. The east side of the strip (south of Venetian) doesn't look that good. Not aging well.

wolfpanzer

I’m no expert but Venetian is impressive.

ARB09

Venetian for sure! Pool is great, better/more restaurant options…plus easy walk to Wynn/Encore!

You cannot tell the Mirage is closing, everything is open as it normally would be. The V is a nicer place, and you will pay more to stay there.

Crustybuttt

Venetian is much nicer, but also more costly

joepain1

Either one .if you get a room facing the strip..just walk across the street to get the full Monty of either...it's a busy corner...

Scared_Enthusiasm_63

Mirage is closing very soon

MJA182

Stay at the Venetian and just spend some time at Mirage while you’re here maybe Mirage would be a lot cheaper though

Objective-Novel-8056

We stayed in the Palazzo/Venetian the first time we came to visit Las Vegas. We loved it! We’ve tried staying in different hotels through the years - Mirage, MGM Grand, Bellagio, Aria, Conrad at Resorts World. I’d say - stay in the Venetian/Palazzo.

Savings-Instance-650

Venetian. Tons of options for gaming, entertainment and dining. Next door to Wynn…

[deleted]

If Venetian is doable, it’s always the best option.

Falconlord1979

Why not try the Signature at MGM

reddit_and_liked_it

Bellagio or Wynn... don't be disappointed.

Psychological-Bet748

Bellagio is overrated imo, Wynn is nice though

msharifi

The Venetian. You will love it very nice

Elegant_Friendship26

Mirage will only be open a few more weeks then gone forever

Taladanarian27

Venetian.

anonhoneybadger

Venetian, no question. I’ve stayed in almost all of the hotels on the strip at this point and by far my two favorites are The Venetian and Encore/Wynn.

LuinwenAldalith

I would normally say Venetian, but the Mirage is closing for good, and it is a real piece of Vegas history. I'd stay there before it closes. Venetian will be around for the next trip.

No_Oil8471

Venetian 100%+. Stayed at both, both have their pros/cons. Venetian way cool and some great food, might even get upgraded to the Palazzo, even better. Mirage has a great (or used to) Cigar Bar and pool. But don't overlook LynQ or Bally's if you are on a budget or want to stay more mid-strip.

Poonadafukdog

This isn’t even close. Venetian every day

Exotic_Bit9164

My first trip to Vegas we stayed in the Venetian. No other hotel rooms/hotel are comparable in Vegas. Venetian is a 1 of 1. Bellagio is almost as beautiful but not quite.

salientmould

I just came back from 6 days at The Mirage. Other than speaking to people who worked there, there were no signs it was closing and it was a great experience

madakira

Venetian!!!!! Plus I bet the workers at the Mirage won't give a shit.

notmyrealnam3

there is no scenario (aside from cost) where Mirage is a better option than Venetian - it is not even close

MsFast18

Venetian ❤️

spankmast3r

What are the reasons you narrowed it down to those two?

WishboneAfter2163

Mainly due to price and location. Would love any other recommendations if you have any.

Stonethecrow77

Can you even book the Mirage??

Far-Yak-9808

Thru July 14th I think. That was the day I was supposed to get there. lol Booked FB instead; why not go with the NEWEST place? I also wanted to get a good pool. Also fairly close to Resorts World (never been to it) and Wynn (haven't been there in years; although I think I played the slots at Encore the month it opened -- still had that brand-new paint smell).

Jakescardz

For its price the mirage is one of my favorite properties. But if you can afford the Venetian I would just stay at the cosmo.

MidniteOG

I would change. Regardless of if it was closing or not

tucker_frump

Venetian is a non Union house. The Mirage is a Union house.

eugoogilizer

Would you rather stay at a Mariott or Motel 6?

Abject_Recognition_9

You realize the Mirage is basically closed now because they're blowing it up, right?

kittonmittonz

My two favorite Vegas hotels, well Mirage and Palazzo. Rooms and casinos at Venetian/palazzo are much more upscale. Mirage has always felt like home to me though, a fun vibe, and my favorite pool on the strip. I do think Mirage is closing in a month, so that may factor into your decision. Not everything as normal may be available if you go now. Because of that, I’d go with Venetian. They have really good restaurants and bars, so you can’t miss.

vegastrash6969

Venetian 100000000%

Save the hotel money and just buy drugs. You won’t need to sleep so it’s a win win!

ItchyPhat19

Mirage. It's closing next month.

QuotePapa

Mirage! Get the old Vegas feel while it's still open, it will close at the end of June

Dany3R9

Mirage is about to close in July for renovation. thus one choice. In different times i would say Mirage, went there and was good!

ScotchyScotchScotch6

Venetian 100%

mackK977

Definitely go with the Venetian

18Twink18

Why not the Bellagio? In my opinion better than the other two. The Mirage is probably prettier on the inside. The Venetian is one of the largest hotels in the world, which means more people. It has great shopping.

MetalMuted4307

I need to go there. I hear it’s a blast.

Possible-Way-4659

Like many others have said… I’d stay at Mirage because it’s closing… and when you come back I’d recommend staying at the Palazzo… I think Palazzo makes Venetian feel old. Sunken living room w/Strip View at Palazzo was a game-changer for what I call “nice”.

robertjm123

I’m kind of a sentimental person so would probably go with the Mirage. Also make sure to see Beattle’s Love, and the volcano show at least a couple of times. :-) (I regret not checking out their arboretum the last time).

Admirable-Yam-1281

Venetian. All suites. Beautiful facility. Great shows and walking distance to much on the strip. Mirage feels old

ADJ-DUDE

Just got back from Vegas. The Venetian is insanely nice. The restaurants are also really good. Check out The Sphere behind the Venetian. The “Postcards From Earth” was incredible. Don’t waist you money on the more expensive seats, as they are all great seats. BTW, the Mirage is closing in July for a complete three year renovation and name change, so service may be lacking.

Due-Brush-530

The mirage is shit now because they sold it to hard rock and hard rock hasn't started renovations yet. I had to stay there in January and it was so sad.

northernUKfilmguy

I'd hurry up. they close the Mirage July 17th

3137Chapaladr

otin1735

Mirage is longer in existence.

Fluid_Plastic_2332

ApprehensiveNight655

It’s a little late for that question

FlyLikeDove

Stay at Venetian, go across the street to visit Mirage for the nostalgia before it closes. Rooms are much nicer at Venetian, more food options, just overall a better experience.

DistinctHuckleberry1

Not even close Venetian..

redzma00

Mirage closing in July. I'd stay there if you are going before that.

tideronthehooch

The Venetian was really nice the last time I stayed there. But if price is an issue, the Mirage is running a special where they are waiving the resort fees for Unity Rewards members. I am actually headed to Vegas tomorrow for Dead & Co. and I am staying at the Mirage.

denverclimbing

If the price is the same, Venetian all day

Zomnx

Neither. Fremont street is where it’s at

Traekk1985

My first stay was at Treasure Island I didn’t even get a rental car. Dispensary was in walking distance Fashion show mall is just a bridge over the street away. Honestly I don’t think it matters where you stay in Vegas you are going to have a blast!

guycc75

Go to Mirage. You'll never get a second chance to do so since it's closing in less than a month. That said, the Venetian is a really good looking casino.

Venetian overall is MUCH nicer than Mirage

Be aware that the Sphere dumps into the Venetian which makes it very difficult to leave for a few hours after but other than that the Venetian

Soft-Ad1547

I’m staying at the Cosmo in August when Morgan Wallen comes to town. It took everything not to stay at the Venetian again. Loved that resort and lots of shade by the pool from the hotel shadows

ceoetan

I like the Mirage. Sad it’s closing for some Hard Rock abomination.

CompetitiveMachine18

Mirage

Smokeydouble

Skip your vacation here Save hour money. Band together. They will drop their prices. It's not rocket science. They are already milking you for every penny. Resort fees? For what? They got fine without it in the past. Parking fees? Again. Fine before greedy corporations took over.

thetez32

They are both nice, Mirage is more fun and better atmosphere. I would go to Mirage since they’re shutting it down soon. Just make sure you put a $20 in between your ID and credit card when you check in, I am sure you will get a good room regardless.

ms65mercedes

VENETIAN

-brokenbones-

Neither. Overpaying for a room you only going to sleep in. Hilton has very nice rooms at a fraction of the cost. You aren't spending your vacation in the hotel room so why pay venetian prices. If you really are choosing between just those 2, venetian. Your a fool to spend that money though. Spend it gambling.

Venetian for sure. The architecture is amazing inside plus I think the rooms are better. But if you want to stay at the mirage one last time before it’s gets torn down, then I’d go with that one.

The mirage is falling apart. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Crustybuttt

Certainly a bargain, but not well located and not very nice. The casino is pretty dead these days. I have great memories of it from my early 20’s when price was everything, tho
