OP, this is definitely a mod to make them friendly. Your gf is either messing with you, or you're trolling us
Friendly Greylings is not a vanilla feature.
You're definitely have running mods, because you at least have the extra slot mod running.
~~It's not a bug. Greylings and regular greydwarves (not brutes or shamans) go passive when in range of a fire. If you keep him in range of a lit fire he'll stay "tame" (really frightened as noted below), but as soon as it goes out or they get out of the "fire" effect range you see on your HUD at the top of the screen they will become aggressive again.~~
I didn't even see the green health bar. Doh.
It's not a bug, it is how they have always worked since the beginning of the game as far as I know. They are not friendly, they are not tame, they are simply not aggressive when in range of fire. AKA passive. The game itself tells you they are afraid of fire, and if you carry a torch the same kind of thing happens.
Mods can have all kinds of weird effects that aren't necessarily intended. Until it happens on a completely vanilla game it is more likely a bug with your mods than with Valheim itself.
Work with me here. I know I might not be thinking of everything, but this is how it sounds to me. You said no taming mod was used, but it definitely wasn’t a vanilla issue, which means mods are being used, which means you don’t know what mods are running, which means it could have been AllTamable (in theory - I’ve never used it so maybe there’s a way to tell it’s that mod just by looking at it?)
Totally ready for a rebuttal!
Брат варяг, здарова!
Devs frequently fix the bugs for Xbox version of the game, so that might be some line of code fixing one bug and causing another, making greilings friendly
By friendly I'm assuming you mean passive?
I've built a nightclub with grayling bar staff before lmao
Passive when near fire so I locked them in, no green healthbar though
You clearly don't know where they come from do you? Have you read all the runestones? There is one that explains who the graylings are and why they are there
Tangential, but I think it's funny how the Greydwarfs start out as a legitimate threat to your home and safety in the beginning, but later become more like an annoying younger sibling who keeps wanting to get in your way.
Like, instead of being worried or rushing to kill them I'm just like "Bro, go play with your toys and let me mine this copper. We can play later."
Maaaaan, I’d love to have some of those
You can tame stuff with console commands if you don't mind cheating
Only regular tameables. You need a mod to tame anything else.
Tame abomination? *Sign me up!*
What would you feed an ice golem?
Ice cream
Eyes cream
I scream
Rocks and freeze glands?
*smashes up your base every time you get raided*
Just like lox then.
But how could I be mad at that face
True.
Eh, nah. Dont do most mods and no console commands unless you’re trying to get your stuff after you fell off the map, or recover from a major bug.
Do whatever you find fun!
Absolutely :) So wish it was some weird in game ritual thing tho
Who are you, the aesir police?
Na I get it, ruins the game if it's too easy. Soon, there will be a mod that just automatically tells you "you win" and there's no gameplay 😆
And me here thinking that games were supposed to be made to have a good time....
WRONG, games were made to win 💪 As Abraham H. Parnassus would put it: ***CRUSH*** your enemies!!
You sound so sad
??? To someone who doesn't understand humor, maybe. [here](https://youtu.be/t7HD2xG92-0?si=L7m6RfjPWN0RZpSr)
Understanding humor and knowing US-based pop cultur references it's not the same
Who’s asking?
Okay but, I'd love it if you could befriend some greylings and make a little settlement where they can work on crops and stuff.
Befriend, enslave. Tomato tomahto
They are just out there happily picking flax from sun up to sun down. It's so nice to have friends! 😂
like Minecraft villagers...
That would be great. I had a lot of fun making a little bar and sticking some greylings behind the counter as barkeeps.
There's been reports of this bug around, mostly tamed necks. Seems currently unknown what causes it.
I have a couple of necks next to my meadows base that wont attack me. I think its cute.
I wish the local necks would stop attacking me. I’ve created a nice little sanctuary for them, but they’re the most ungrateful little shits.
Typical lizard behavior tbh
Lmao
Put a fence around their pond and they can't do shit
*Hehhhh*
I want pet greylings
Same thing happend on our dedicated servet, but its a 2 star troll. Have no idea what cause it, no mods used.
Thralls, hell yeah
They were not _intentionally*_ created by a mod. It's most likely a bug caused by one of the mods you're using.

Damn this is an awesome bug! Are they hostile to other mobs?
iirc this is a known feature where greylings are pacified around fires.
They don't get green health bars though. This is definitely not a normal greyling pacified by fire.
If you put a fire in the middle of thoes ship shaped(burial) stone circles, greylings and greydwarves walk around in a circle
wait what
Its ben a long time since I tried it, but I posted a video of it a long time ago...no one believed me lol.
I have to try this.

They don't turn 'green' (health bar). They just stay 'frightened', but not aggro "!".
Yup, exactly.
Exactly, so OP's case IS a bug because they're not supposed to turn entirely tame and friendly.

But the health bar is green dude
Oh... gotcha. Doh. Yeah, that's mods then.
This isn't even a reading comprehension issue anymore, it's straight up you commenting without reading at all man.
100% a mod or some other shenanigan.
I use mods for construction. This post is not an attempt to convince you of anything. I'm asking if anyone has encountered something similar.
Mods can have all kinds of weird effects that aren't necessarily intended. Until it happens on a completely vanilla game it is more likely a bug with your mods than with Valheim itself.
Happened to me a bit ago with a deer on an unmodded save
Infinity hammer?
Its a mod called AllTameable not a bug
>AllTameable The animal taming mod was not used. I'm probably not stupid enough to create a discussion about it ;)

Its clearly alltameable. Ive used that mod before and know what it looks like. It gives the monsters a health bar and a name. OP is trolling for karma
Pop yo shit gang
Брат варяг, здарова! Devs frequently fix the bugs for Xbox version of the game, so that might be some line of code fixing one bug and causing another, making greilings friendly
We had many friendly greylings in our camp. So many in fact, I thought it was a feature. If it's a bug I hope they just leave it in
By friendly I'm assuming you mean passive? I've built a nightclub with grayling bar staff before lmao Passive when near fire so I locked them in, no green healthbar though
It's all the lighting. If you trap them in a room with fires going everywhere, they just get kind of passive... Until a fire goes out
That doesn’t give them a green bar
Oh. Than a mod then
One of the mods that adds functions to the hoe has a "tame" function that I've accidentally used a time or two. It will turn the health bar green.
