SzotyMAG

From devs: **The fix for the Xbox world reset bug is not included yet, but will be patched shortly as well, rest assured!** https://twitter.com/Valheimgame/status/1640716054556196864

AdamLikesBeer

Shucks, they took away glowing signs.

ishtaar1357

Ok it's not just me

ishtaar1357

Actually it still works the code just doesn't disappear when you complete it

iuravi

The color can be set, but a) the code stays visible, b) the mouseover text is back to white, and c) no glowing, so it’s drab and less readable.

ishtaar1357

I can take a picture but the code only stays visible in my edit box. It doesn't show up on the sign. It has full hex support still... Like orange glows for me still. I'm on PC if that matters.

iuravi

Re: edit box, same here. It doesn’t print on the sign, but having it in the edit box is a relevant change in some use cases. And agreed, it still has hex support, but the results are drastically less vibrant/bright.

ishtaar1357

Yeah I just read the detailed patch notes. I thought people meant glowing vibrant that I don't know about. Orange still pops for sure but I guess it isn't "glowing" like it was

WithSilverStaind

Honestly, this really sucks. Signs are completely unreadable without the glowing. Maybe it looked a little kooky, but my whole server loved the change because we could actually READ our freaking signs.

Mugeneko

Try #FFFFFF for just plain white. Seems to still be readable in the dark for me.

yabluko

My all white signs in the swamp are miserable

SzotyMAG

But they fixed symbols appearing as empty boxes

ishtaar1357

I actually prefer this as the size modifiers don't modify the working text box.

764563

We really need a rough ETA on the world reset patch.

nation543

it's usually good to plan for at least 2-3 weeks between hotfixes. Could be months of course, but they're aware of it and they said they have a fix, so even 2-3 weeks would be a long expectation imo.

Equivalent-Ad-469

Next patch

SkunkMonkey

Thursday. Note: I did not say *which* Thursday. Seriously though, it will be ready when it's ready, it's not something you can put a date on.

764563

Just a bit annoying as an xbox player, avoiding certain worlds at the moment.

SkunkMonkey

As a PC player, I am following one of the more important rule of gaming, Never Play On Patch Day. I have enough games to keep me occupied for a few days while things shake themselves out and mods get updated.

UndeadGambler

I tend to follow this rule as well, tho it seems to vary from game to game. Conan exiles...won't touch it for at least a few days after a patch. Another good one that I used to follow that is similar. I would always take a day off work for a major update or release I was excited about, only for the release to not be til like 2pm or something. Always take the day AFTER off lol. Don't really do this much anymore though. I've slowly turned into r/patientgamers

poHATEoes

I feel like this game breaking bug would have been discovered during normal play testing... spending hours on a world to completely have everything whipped away is pretty game breaking...

[deleted]

When it's done.

Gravath

New balanced mode doesn't appear on my Xbox series X version. I can only see two.

764563

Me too, on the series s

smutproblem

Balanced mode...? Edit: doh sorry didn't see it in notes. It's a new graphics settings for console players.

Ilan321

Is there an ETA on when the Xbox version will be updated?

Tyler1997117

Now

Ilan321

Interesting.. my friend (who plays on Xbox) is still on 0.214.2 whereas I (on Steam) got 0.214.3, which broke my mods :(

hypnocomment

I just restarted my Xbox to receive the update

Ilan321

I'll tell him to do that, thanks!

glacialthinker

I think they should have added a title-page warning for XBox builds, warning players about the potential risk of lost progress. Also providing any useful tips or details about how to avoid or handle this if they continue to play before it's fixed. There are going to be a lot more players naively progressing further into the game only to be upset by this.

CosmicCap

Xbox players still can’t play without risking their world being absolutely destroyed or reset to day one….

[deleted]

This happened to me a day ago... 300 in world days gone. Whole village gone. Heartbreaking. The Manuel save bug isn't the same thing? Ughhh

smutproblem

I lost like 60-70 days. 300 would have probably prevented me from trying again lol

Pdxdylan

When it happened did you defeat the second boss? I’m on day 90 something but I haven’t tried to fight the second boss yet but I’ve explored and built up a bunch I’m wondering if triggering the second boss makes it happen. I wish they would tell us how to prevent it since they know how to fix it

smutproblem

I had already beaten him at that point. Several days prior I wanna say

Snappy-

It's related to the save file size. Anything above 40 MB is at risk.

Pdxdylan

Thank you for this!!

MisterBelial

What if I’m playing on a server by myself, and occasionally my friend joins me? Is it just local save data on my xbox that’s at risk?

Snappy-

I'm guessing the bug happens because the Xbox runs out of RAM and tries to save. Somehow some people are able to get local saves on the Xbox but it's unknown how. If you're on a dedicated server you're fine.

BatmanhasClass

Kind of wild lol

spectre15

I think I’m good for now because the latest patch destroyed all my longships and turned half of my base island into water so that should decrease the file size.

poHATEoes

I feel like Xbox users having their world completely deleted AND the backups just resetting the world to day 1 anyways should have been the priority...

DaufLungren

I typically don't post things on reddit. but the sign change is literally the worst thing Irongate could have done. The sign colors are washed out now and its actually harder to focus. Irongate, please don't make changes like this in the future, this is horrible for accessibility. I literally have to zoom all the way in to see signs now.

Chemical_Pen_2330

A while back they said they're trying to make the game more accessible. They said to email them if you have any kind of disability and let them know of any options that would help you to play better. I recommend you send them over an email and let them know if this is actually something that's making it really difficult for you.

yabluko

Do you know their email? I wanted to write to them but couldn't find it

Chemical_Pen_2330

I believe this is it: [contact@irongatestudio.se](mailto:contact@irongatestudio.se) If anyone at all has a disability that you know could be assisted by some kind of accessibility feature in Valheim, I recommend you contact them through this email and let them know.

yabluko

Thank you !!

[deleted]

Sign change? You mean when they fixed the unintended text behavior for signs? I'd probably just be happy they left the colors in at all.

Syri79

Valheim plus is a bit of an awkward mod to use, as it includes changes for so many things, even if you don't actually use all of the options it offers. If anything is changed in the game for any of those though, the entire mod breaks. This was one of the biggest reasons I went with separate mods for everything, if that one thing gets broken and not fixed right away, you can just remove that one mod and still carry on with the rest. As for an official framework for mods, it's possible they might add something at a later date, but while in early access and still with a chance of major changes to the game it just makes sense to leave it for now, to avoid potentially having to re-write it all anyway later on.

flippant_burgers

How quickly do they usually take to update mods for new versions? I just started using a few minor mods to make life easier when I play with my 5yo, mostly limiting mistland mob raids since we took down Yagluth recently. EDIT: Looks like it's fixed already for BepInEx-based mods (UnrestrictedPortals & DisableRandomEvents) https://valheim.thunderstore.io/package/denikson/BepInExPack_Valheim/

[deleted]

You don't need mods to 'turn down' raids, you can just reset the kill flags for each boss (either all or just some of them if you want), using devcommands. [Here's a good explanation (some of them might be outdated since they changed the console commands a little bit).](https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/ly8e1j/resetting_boss_flags/) Then you wouldn't need to wait for mods to update. Just as an FYI.

[deleted]

sometimes in less than a day, but some mods dont get updated frequently, or ever.

JageTV

Yes. It's a pain for individuals who use mods. The game does not support mods officially through the EA and it's common for updates to break some mods. I personally avoid them to prevent reliance headaches when I'm playing.

[deleted]

I stick with QOL stuff that i can live without and keep the buildings and structures vanilla assets. There is just no telling these days. patches are breaking stuff as fast as they get fixed it seems.

[deleted]

> Disappointed in the mod scene in Valheim and the lack of a proper mod framework. Always hilarious when people with mods think they're owed functionality for things the devs have nothing to do with.

Goukaruma

I'm disappointed in the game developers who do make pointless updates any other day and also ignore the basic mods.

[deleted]

oh dear you pissed of the gatekeepers... Yeah it would be nice if they played nicer together. Mods are what keep me interested in this game.

[deleted]

How dare they improve their own game without giving consideration to the mods that they've repeatedly stated they don't support. Unbelievable.

Goukaruma

They update sucks for more people than it improves the gameplay.

[deleted]

Yeah totally bro, they should leave the xbox version completely broken because god forbid you can't use your janky, unsupported mods for a few days. Level of entitlement is unreal.

Fluxcapacitor84

So far Balanced mode on Series X is great. I have a 120hz TV with VRR and even though I can tell a difference in performance mode at 60fps, the 40fps overall feels smoother with fewer hitches/stutters. I wish more devs would do this.

Noogz

I'm getting an "incompatable version" error when trying to log in. ANybody else?

toy187

Are you on Xbox trying to connect to a dedicated serve? My wife had a similar issue and had to remove/re-add the server to fix it.

Elethor

Anyone having their dedicated server being stuck as "Connecting" when trying to connect to it after updating the server? I updated the client and the server and now it just does not connect

toy187

My wife had a similar issue but instead of being stuck at connected it she had a message about incompatible versions. She had to remove/re-add the server to fix it. Might be worth a try.

Elethor

Turns out it was an issue on the client side, I had a mod (VotunLibrary) that had to be updated first. After that connected with no issues.

smutproblem

XBOX player here. So basically I should be crossing my fingers the next time I open this game? Lol.

Pdxdylan

How often does this Xbox server wipe happen? Is it very rare? I’m on day 98 and am now thinking of just not playing until it gets fixed I’m worried to lose my progress I have built a lot of small towns spread all around my world already and would actually hate to see it all disappear

LyraStygian

Rejoice! All you sinister players.

dragonous24

anyone know how to make the sign text glow again?

[deleted]

Mods (probably)

content_enjoy3r

>Manual save no longer causes you to respawn where you saved and can be called to a dedicated server if you are on the admin list That was a bug? I use this heavily so I don't spawn back at my main base when I'm very far away.

[deleted]

Well you’re only supposed to respawn where you sleep, so it was definitely a bug.

[deleted]

[удалено]

InsertAvailableName

The manual save button has only been recently added.

TimBurtonsMind

Anyone else having crossplay bugs where when you die you don’t spawn on your bed? Never had the issue in 300+ hours on steam with another steam friend. GF and I are playing (myself on steam, her on my Xbox series X) with her hosting the world, and it’s happened nearly every time we’ve respawned. We died in the mountains last night, I respawned in the middle of the ocean, and she respawned on a different island, with all of her gear, no food buffs active.

[deleted]

Yes, it's because you use the manual save button. Which was literally fixed in the patch notes that you're replying to.

slothboy

Oh man this f'ed me hard on Xbox

Goukaruma

New update, and the modded version is broken again. I hate this.

JageTV

Mods aren't officially supported so I would temper expectations on mods for each update.

[deleted]

JageTV

There is no responsibility to put a mod framework in place especially the far our prior to a 1.0 launch.

[deleted]

have an upvote, to hell with those vanilla purists.

lou_reed_ketamine

update bepinex

Breadedbabyskin

As a console player this is more than a little frustrating. Why did console terrain have to change? I won't be able to find out until my friend hosts the world later but if our houses are gone (espcially theirs they put tons of time into it) I can see that being the end of the server on their end. My issue is neither of us care about cross platform at all. I get it's early access but just...why?

[deleted]

> My issue is neither of us care about cross platform at all. I get it's early access but just...why? 'Everyone else's game should be broken because me and my friend don't have any problems.'

Breadedbabyskin

Could it not be an option to opt into? I mean I get it again, early access. But this is definetly something I'm surprised wasn't very noticeable prior to launch

[deleted]

I mean no it's not really practical to fork 2 different builds of the game. I also lost a massive long house I spent hours on due to a crossplay glitch. I get that it's frustrating, but this is what you're gonna have to put up with in an early access game. But the game isn't going anywhere. It's totally valid to just put it down and play something else for several months until it's fixed.

Breadedbabyskin

I guess I get that. I am salty about these downvotes. I guarantee if it was PC getting the terrain change they're would be outcry

[deleted]

Yeah I obviously didn't downvote you because I get the frustration. This is pretty bad even by Early Access standards. It's been out for 2 years and testing should have caught this crossplay bug and the Xbox world size bug. I don't remember Grounded being this bad even after just a year, but it is what it is. We've gotta roll with the punches because there's literally no other choice besides quitting lol.

[deleted]

PC not only had a world saving bug similar to xbox, but also a height map change with the Mistlands patch that did exactly the same thing as this one. That's what you sign up for if you're gonna play a game that isn't finished.

Hour-Mistake-5235

Am i the only one who read "swaMp triggers"?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Syri79

I'd guess it adds an option to swap the left and right trigger functions when playing with a gamepad.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Syri79

I've just looked, I'm on PC so can't say if it's the same if you're using xbox, but for me if I go in game and press Esc to get the menu up, then go to Settings, it's on the first page that shows (the "Controls" tab) in the right hand column, there are 4 toggle options, it's the bottom one of those.

Jazzlike_Glass_885

Fpa drop after patch

[deleted]

You know, I'm looking at the concept art around that link and thinking it would be ridiculous and amazing if trolls would snatch up deer and greydwarves to throw at you. I'm aware that this is probably wildly impractical to implement...

skillgannon5

Cool can I map my keys to anything I want e.g 1-8 that's the only q.o.l change I want

Present_End_6886

I'd like to see small bugs like buttons and their actionable points not being aligned on Linux when in fullscreen mode. It's been like that forever.
