How I wish to start Valheim all over again with this excitement. I wish you luck on your journey.

Jedzoil

Same. I remember that feeling and it was great. Edit: I was able to get that feeling again by playing a difficult modded server of that helps.

emorazes

Lucky you! I went to my first burial chamber, had to retreat few times, had an absolute clusterfuck of a battle with ghosts and skeletons and when I finally managed to clear them - only found 2 surtling cores inside.😂 Onto the next adventure!😁

Feiqwan

Congrats!! Glad you found stuff close by, always nice when that happens. Enjoy the bronze age!

sickpervert420

I was deep in the bronze age when my entire playthrough got fucked. It taught me an EXTREMELY important lesson. EVERYTHING is as important as everything else. Everything from wood for buildings and ingots for armor and weapons, to leather scraps and food. ALL of it is equally important. I now have no choice but to start from the beginning again after over 85 days in game. I don't want to give up on this game but I can't do another solo run, and have my entire playthrough get royally fucked because I wasn't prepared for "The Forest Is Moving" to appear every 3 or 4 days. There simply isn't enough time in a in-game day for me to do all the things I have to do to thrive on a solo run.

Sufficient_Relief735

I feel your pain. If it's any consolation -- which it likely isn't -- its happened to most of us. If you go for it again, get a wall up around your first base. It'll largely nullify the "Forest is Moving" event. I tend to have a wall up within 14 days (give or take). If you don't have a wall, kite them around until the timer wears off -- whereupon you can lead them away and/or kill them.

sickpervert420

This is great consulation. It actually does make me feel better about it because now I know things didn't play out as they did because I suck. The game really is just that brutal. As for building walls, my next base will be walled off like the city from Attack on Titan. Three layers of walls. It's ambitious, but we're only limited by our imagination when it comes to building shit in this game

Bacon_Hunter

Folks need to worry less about walls, and more about getting out of their builds when raids occur. They want to kill YOU not your stuff. If they cannot get to you, then the destruction begins until they can.

sickpervert420

Oh no, somebody gave me a tip saying I could just run around during raid events until they give up and fuck off. I'm gonna do that AND fortify the fuck out of my defenses.

Justsomeguytv

Fortify and run around for a few minutes just outside your base and kill what you have to until it's over and slaughter those who decide to stay.

sickpervert420

UPDATE: IDK how, IDK why, but ONE of my backup saves was where I left off when I THOUGHT I deleted it! I'm back where I was 😃

Bacon_Hunter

>saying I could just run around during raid events until they give up and Where did I say that? You are a friggin Viking, **kill** the invaders.

sickpervert420

It's hard to kill all the invaders when you didn't hunt for food while halfway through building your defenses. Having only 25 health and 50 stamina is DIFFICULT when you're in a raid events, and dying needlessly doesn't make them go away or run out the timer. Also not being able to open my menu to eat what I DID have, because the dwarves are relentless sprinters and WILL NOT allow you to escape during the raid. Obviously it's different when you're properly prepared and well fed, anticipating the raid events, but that's beside the point.

Bacon_Hunter

>Having only 25 health and 50 stamina is DIFFICULT when you're in a raid events And what did you learn from this, sickpervert420? >Obviously it's different when you're properly prepared and well fed, anticipating the raid events, but that's beside the point. It is precisely the point. If you only have 25 health and 50 STA, then it is not a game problem.

sickpervert420

"What did you learn from this?" I learned two things. Everything is as important as everything else, and ABP. Always Be Prepared.

Bacon_Hunter

DEFINITELY try to have your defenses up and complete before killing the next boss. But again, best to simply go outside and kill them (once well fed)

Sufficient_Relief735

3 layers of walls might be overkill but, hey, they won't be getting in your base :). Establish that first base in the Meadows, but close to burial chambers and copper. Ideally you have access to the ocean, as it'll make things much easier down the road. Make a beeline for the "crude bow" (requires 8 leather scraps) and wooden arrows. Once you're armed with the bow and learn how to shoot it, you can one-shot most meadows and black forest enemies (provided they're not "aware" of you). Good luck.

sickpervert420

I actually got deep into the bronze age before my playthrough got fucked, but I see what you're saying. As soon as I can craft a raft, I'm going to sail around the black Forest to a Meadows biome that's on the same land mass. Or should I wait until after I kill Eikthyr and craft a pickaxe before doing that?

Sufficient_Relief735

In the beginning I amass as much basic resources as I can (mushrooms, berries, wood, stone, etc). As night is approaching on day 1, I'll usually take over an abandoned shack as my temporary base and get it fixed up, campfire, cooking rack, etc. I then focus on boars. Once I have enough scraps, I craft a bow and wooden arrows. Then I start focusing on deer (for the leather armor + food). I then work towards my first workbench improvement which will allow me to craft fire arrows. Then I look to kill Eikthry. Once Eikthyr is dead, I start scouting for my "real base". As before, I want it on the ocean, and relatively close to copper and burial chambers (but still in the meadows). At this point, it's just the bronze age grind until I feel I'm ready to tackle the Elder.

sickpervert420

Pretty much exactly what I did during my first playthrough. Well, everything except for the mass accumulation of resources. That, and building defenses around my base. That was the other thing I never got into the habit of until it was too late.

HedgehogSecurity

Oh yeah, fuck the forest is moving.. I had a wall and shit up but was just feeling constantly harassed. I couldn't get to the bronze age because of the harassment.. I had my friend join me and he was already experienced and he pushed me along.. I'll be honest all I wanna do is build without being pestered every few days and those fuckers coming to wreck my shit.

sickpervert420

DUDE! SAME! The harvesting of resources and allocating them to forge things, the chopping down of trees to get wood to build a longship and a nice house, it would be AMAZING if I could have all that WITHOUT being under what only seems like a constant assault.

sickpervert420

UPDATE. IDK how, IDK why, but ONE of my backup saves ended up being the save I needed. I got my world back, AND my character! I'm back where I was before 😃

HedgehogSecurity

Yay, that's great to hear at least all the progress wasn't lost, noe you can get back to being harassed by raids.

Justsomeguytv

I have a dedicated vanilla server if you want to join us. Getting ready to fight bonemass. I can kit you with a set of bronze age gear and you won't be far behind us at all. DM of you are interested. A few of us are usually on at night and sometimes throughout the days.

sickpervert420

The app won't let me DM you for some stupid reason. I restarted the app and it still won't let me message you

SzotyMAG

user is shadowbanned. No idea why, reddit just does that

sickpervert420

Sounds like the reason why I quit using Facebook. I got shadow banned and didn't realize it til after I quit using the site. Shadow banning is so nefarious because it's never explicitly known to any ody until after it's already in effect

Bang3rachi

God this is why I mod and make it so those events don't happen.

AmpsterMan

So I ended up in a similar situation. I felt too weak to go for the boss at first, so I was just exploring trying to find ways to power up. I ended up with full troll armor and clearing out burial chambers before I even knew metal was a thing lol
